Great find off the beaten path in Longview. With an expansive menu that all sounds so good, the hardest thing is deciding what to eat! I opted for the lunch special with tofu and a side of picked radish and broccoli. My companion had shrimp fried rice. ($10.99 and $11.99 respectively). My dish had great flavor. Took my in laws for their first experience of Korean food. You order at the register, find a table, and they bring your food. We got a good spread of options so we could try a lot. I appreciate that they offer a lunch special on weekends. The kimbap was huge. Bulgogi was the hit at the table. I did miss some other popular banchan and protein options as what they offer is limited. Would still go again. read more

While the service and food were decent the real issue, and the reason I will never return, is the complete disregard for basic health and safety standards. As we were ordering, the sushi chef repeatedly blew her nose at the sushi station. Not once did she wash her hands, and she kept her used tissue in her pocket as she continued her tasks, also returning to the use of her phone. When I brought this to the cashier's attention, her response was, "Oh, she wears a mask", (she didn't). Frankly, that's irrelevant. Wearing a mask does not make up for unsanitary behavior, especially when it involves cross-contamination at a raw food station. This is a clear health code violation. As we were leaving the sushi chef now had on gloves, but had her cell phone in her hand (the same phone she just held in her hands after blowing her nose). If this is how casually they handle hygiene in plain sight of customers, I can only imagine what's happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. Absolutely unacceptable. Cleanliness should be a priority, especially when serving raw foods. read more

This is a clean and brightly decorated place with friendly and helpful staff. I almost wish I hadn't patronized some really fabulous Korean restaurants in larger cities, as I can't avoid the comparison. The beef bulgogi box had a good sampling of offerings, none of which, sadly, were memorable. The bulgogi was almost too sweet, and the absence of grilling rendered it a bit too mushy for my liking. The California roll pieces tasted slightly fishy, as did the fish soup. Before you think, "Isn't fish soup supposed to taste fishy?", well, no...there's a difference between fishy and fresh. The fried wonton was a bit tough to the tooth, as though it had been under a salamander too long, and the fried spring roll could easily have been obtained at Costco or Sam's. The crispy fried shrimp dish was better, but it, too, was almost certainly outsourced~preformed, coated and frozen elsewhere. The dipping sauce was reminiscent of thousand island dressing; a spicy "kick" seemed missing from everything. The fried rice was inexplicably bland, as though an afterthought; good fried rice isn't difficult and can compensate for other sins. Even so, Evergreen is a good effort and is seemingly supported by its clientele; best of luck. read more

Evergreen is a gem here in Longview. One of my biggest regrets about leaving Austin has been leaving behind the unique and more natural restaurants. This place has been exactly that kind of place I've been missing. I've been here a number of times and the food has been nothing but delicious. The variety of food is what impresses me the most. The service is great, it's never been crowded inside and they keep it very clean. Will be coming back as long as they stay open. read more

This restaurant is our favorite spot! My husband and I come here anytime we get the chance! The chicken fried rice and the Cajun Roll are our top favorites here! However, everything here is just wonderful! It's clean and tidy there is minimal seating but the food makes it worth it and the outside porch is quiet and cute! I recommend this place for lunch or dinner if you're looking for amazing sushi and even better bulgogi or fried rice! Their kimchi is probably some of the best i have ever tasted! When you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly face. You're certainly walking into a cute restaurant, but the way you see the food being prepared in the kitchen behind the cashier makes it feel like you're at your aunt's house. It has homey vibes. We ordered a little bit of everything from the menu - poke bowl, chicken fried rice, bulgogi fries, sweet potato fries, and a half-cheese K-dog (Korean hotdog). This was my first time eating a K-dog, and I am convinced I will never, ever go back to eating a regular hot dog (unless it's the $1.50 hot dog and drink combo from Costco). The kimchi is pungent, spicy, and delicious! The portions are generous! They are so huge, we took about half of the food home as leftovers. They serve "Special(s) of the Day", which can be seen on their socials (Facebook and Instagram). Some of the dishes can feel very nostalgic. For example, a few days ago, they were serving Korean beef soup. This morning, they had egg drop soup for the Special of the Day. This place is an absolute must if you're passing through Longview! I tried this restaurant out after having passed it multiple times a month while going to work. I've been hearing a lot of people say this is one of the best restaurants in the city of Longview, so we'll see about that. I got the lunch special with the spicy pork over noodles as my entree, with the macaroni salad and the spicy miso soup, and a DP. Needless to say, I do concur with my colleagues. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and I think this is some of the better food I've had in the city of Longview. I did go back and order some fried Mandu (potstickers) to go. Wow!! What flavor!! We had the Popcorn shrimp roll and the beef bulgogi lunch special. Both were great. The popcorn shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a sweet sauce with a little spice kick on the back end. The crab roll under the shrimp was basic, but very good. The beef bulgogi was cooked very well, was tender with a slight sweet flavor. The fried rice was good and the side of broccoli gave it a nice texture change with the added plus of some greens. The egg drop soup was good but had much more of a chicken broth flavor to it than other egg drop soups. The restaurant was very neat and clean. It could have been a little cooler temp wise, with it being 100 degrees outside, but was comfortable. Staff was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!! read more

The food here is so salty. Everything we got from the noodles, the spicy pork, the beef, and the spicy shrimp was all very spicy. Especially the noodles. I had to dilute my meat in hot water to get enough salt off of it for it to be edible. The only redeeming item was the k-dog. I'm from Atlanta, so my standards might be high - for a small town random korean fusion place, this k-dog passes in my books. The breading is not as crispy as they should be, and the dough is a little stale. The cheese pull is also lacking, and there aren't any sauces available. The kimchi is not marinated well and lacks depth in the flavor. The eating area was clean and decorated nicely. I would visit a different restaurant for lunch if I were you! read more

This was the best Korean food I've ever had. Of course, that's right up there with the best Ferrari I've ever driven, the hottest supermodel I've ever dated and the longest home run I've ever hit in a World Series. You see, I've never had Korean Food. I had Kimchi French fries once, but that's closer the French food than Korean. This location has housed a barbecue joint, a home cooking restaurant (which wasn't home cooking because it wasn't a) good and b) cooked at home), a Caribbean food place and probably a few others. None have made it. I hope this place does. We need good exotic food places and I always pull for the small, locally owned guys over the big chains And if the location is cursed, I hope the lease runs out and Evergreen relocates. My friend and I both got beef bulgogi, bao bulgogi buns and kimchi soup. It was all excellent. The bulgogi was well cooked and great flavor. The bao had a wonderful seasoning and I woofed it down in about three bites. The kimchi soup was very flavorful. Makes me want to go back and try more things. The atmosphere was quaint and very clean. I didn't interact with the staff but the service seemed just fine. I hope this place makes it. I'll sure as hell do my part to see that it does. This is some of the best Asian food I've ever had. I got the lunch special which they have until 3pm for only $9.99 which comes with a meat, noodle or rice, a side, and a soup. I got the sweat and spicy chicken as my entree, kimichi fried rice, kimichi as my side, and a delicious chicken soup. I seriously can't get over how delicious and sweet and yummy this food was. I also got the popcorn shrimp roll and as you can see it came with so much food and it was also DELICIOUS!!!!! I highly recommend. The service as well was amazing and the lady at the counter was so sweet and attentive. We also sat outside and they have a lovely patio area with corn hole and plenty of sitting.
