After inhaling some of that fresh mountain air, we decided to go out to get some hookah...because...balance! It was a quiet Wednesday and there wasn't a lot going on. One of the guys that was working there immediately took our order. We went for the grape mint combo and some tea. Our order came out within minutes and they regularly came back to rotate the coal. After addressing us in a formal way at first, our small talk with the owner became more chill and informal and he started telling us about his journey with the restaurant business and all the struggles that come with it (such as not being able to play "loud" music - which was really the only thing that was missing for us). Anyway, to get to the point...the hookah was hitting pretty nicely, the owners are super nice, and they had free WiFi as well. Now do I believe these guys serve the best pizza and pasta in Kaprun as they claim online? Most likely not. Then again, a) I didn't try it and b) I wouldn't expect that from a place with a menu that includes an interesting combo of kebab dishes, pizza, pasta, burgers, and even goulash. So my advice would be: go there for the hookah and/or a middle eastern dish because clearly that's what they do best and that's what makes them stand out in this (slightly snobbish) town. Much love and respect to the owners! We'll be back one day :)

In the lobby, somehow…read morethe word doesn't do this room justice, you are met by the mirror tree which you can look at a photo of but can only fully be experienced in person. Let me just say it's breathtaking. From we went to the left and were met by Seppi himself who handed us a cotton candy confection that added an air of fun to the night right away. We were led to a modern lounge area outside of the main dining room. As we sipped on our cranberry prosecco and munched on the cotton candy surrounding the glass, we chatted with Seppi who shared a little bit about what we would be experiencing that night. Next was a delightful charcuterie that was extremely well balanced and set the tone for the evening. While we lounged we perused the menu and discussed options with Seppi, he outlined specials and what he thought would make a balanced meal. We ended up choosing a number of dishes to share amongst all of us, and Seppi walked us through the wine pairing. Once we were done with the charcuterie and had placed our order we moved into the main dining room. We started with a Burrata, the Pasta Seppi, and a pasta with clams. This was followed by the Bistecca a la Fiorentina with spinach, roasted potatoes, and beans on the side. Every dish was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We started with a delicious white followed by a Chianti, the perfect parings chosen by Seppi. On top of how wonderful the food was, the service was attentive with out hovering. We never felt like we were being rushed but we always felt like there was someone there if needed. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the deserts we got but at that point the food coma had set in and it was all I could do to stay upright. If you have the opportunity to try the ice cream here I would highly suggest it. The coconut ice cream was hands down the freshest most flavorful ice cream I have ever had in my life. Overall it was a magical evening filled with great food in a unique and special atmosphere!

Pasta e Vino does it the right way and it shows. By having such a tight fresh pasta menu three items) they serve great pasta with very nice sauces. We went early, and on a Monday so seating was not an issue, the the tables that had reserved signs on them let us know this place fills up fast and it's not that big to begin with. It's a cool little space with a deli case right at the front so there is no hiding anything. Our two servers took great care of us, explained the menu and took our order. We both ordered the pasta carne with dirty pork and a red sauce. Tagliatelle was the pasta of the day, not sure if that changes or not. We also ordered house wine, red for me and white for the lovely K. The 1/8 litre 4 1/4 ounces for 3.5 euros wasn't expensive, but it also wasn't enough. You can order more (1/4 litre is 6 euros) which we would next time. The food came out hot and quickly and very nicely covered in Parmigiana Reggiano and was a good sized portion for 13.5 euros. Would we rave about it, probably not, but it was great!
