My friend and I discovered this Italian restaurant after a hike from Freiburg through the Black Forest. We hungry, sore and needed a respite. We made it to the center and were drawn to the pizza and pasta options. We wanted to carbo-load and drink beer.
We ordered the Carbonara pasta, Panorama pizza, a Rothaus Pils and Tannenzäpfle. The panorama pizza was quite colorful with its toppings and my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. The carbonara was a hearty meal too with its speck, parmesan cheese, and pasta. I enjoyed my beer, the Tannenzapfle, with its herbal notes. The Pils was too mild for me.
Overall, we both enjoyed the restaurant. There was helpful service and our meals came out quickly. It's a cozy establishment but for the caricature beneath the crucifix. It seemed oddly out of place, but perhaps a whimsy of the chef. read more
