Visually it looked like any good pizza should. They had even provided a pizza cutter. Even though, not a very sharp one. After I managed to cut a small dent into the crust I noticed the salami had trouble staying in it's place. As soon, as I finished cutting the first slice, i discovered why. The whole thing was completely soggy from the cheese and tomato-what-ever. Unableto eat the slice by hand (as the pizza-god intended) I had to rely on a fork and a knife. The latter seemed to be related to the pizza cutter, since both had trouble cutting anything. The breakfast was not overly sugary as it is in America and the coffee was a godsend. We only had drip coffee while vacationing in the Gran Canaria, so this little treat was the best thing I could have hoped for (from a proclaimed morning coffee addict). The waitstaff was very pleasant and friendly, and the proximity to the beach was certainly attractive.

Upon arriving at El Gaucho's terrace, the host, a lovely British gentleman greeted us amiably, and set up a prime table so that we could enjoy the sea breeze and the outdoor climate. We ordered the paella, the fried onion rings, the meat (of course), the gazpacho, and a small salad (there were six of us, so this amount seems reasonable, I think). The paella was the best I've ever had - our waiter divvied it up lovingly between my bestie and I, and he called us his "kids." He also presented us with some warm lemon water to wash our hands before our meal. Everything was delightful and all of the waiters were fantastic. Our main attendant was hysterical, and at the end of the meal, he presented us with caramel vodka. I have to say, that goes down far too easily. We like El Gaucho so much that we came back to dine for our last night in Gran Canaria. Sadly the British host and our main waiter were not there, but the food was still wonderful!

Raw chicken, no apologize, arrogant waiter…read more Firstly the service was very friendly. But then we noticed that the chicken of our tapas plate was raw. So we kindly told the staff that the chicken was raw. The waiter just picked up the chicken and left the table without any words. He came back with the same chicken, just grilled again. No apologize, no new chicken, nothing. Worst tapas experience we ever had. No recommendation at all.
