Need coffee in Destrehan? This PJ's will hook you up. For the past several months I have found myself in Destrehan in the afternoon and in need of coffee. This PJ's happens to be the closest location so it has become my go-to spot. Located in a fairly congested strip mall complex, this location is a pretty standard PJ's. There is a drive-thru that can be accessed from behind the store and there is a small parking area in front. My coffee is always up to snuff and delivered promptly, but there is occasionally some inconsistency in service. None of the employees I have encountered have been rude, but some seem to enjoy their jobs way less than others. I don't need people bouncing off the walls excited to see customers, but making me feel like I am a burden by ordering a drink you just pour over ice is somewhat off putting. Will this coffee shop amaze you with it's awesome atmosphere and bubbly employees? Nope, but if you need coffee in St. Charles, this is a place that can satisfy that need. read more

The coffee was nothing of what we ordered and the food we ordered didn't come out properly. We highly recommend going to the luling location and skipping this one. We sat here for about an hour and watched multiple customers come back inside due to their orders being incorrect. read more

If you're looking for third-wave coffee, this isn't your place, but for what it is, it pretty much delivers. It's friendly, cozy, and a great place to work or study, as well. The thing they do best is their Granitas, a kind of frozen blended sweet coffee drink that is really nice. I have not yet found a hot drink that I like here, however. read more

Lately, I have been leaving here aggravated. That is no way to start the day. I get interrupted when I'm ordering, I get cold breakfast sandwiches when I order it hot. I don't have a complex order, I have ordered the same thing for YEARS! Somehow, it has become difficult to acquire a cafe au lait with soy and two Splendas and a hot breakfast sandwich. They have, in more than instance, given me a hot coffee with soy and sometimes, milk. I know it is milk because I am lactose intolerant. I can no longer recommend this location at all. read more

Consistency is key - when this coffee shop is good, it's good, when it's bad - it's pretty bad. Every couple of weeks I stop and get my treat coffee - large vanilla latte with almond milk. This week it was terrible, 1/3 of the cup was empty and NO vanilla. When you are paying $6 for a coffee you expect it to at least have everything you paid for in it. I hate writing bad reviews but I've had more bad times than good at this point. read more

I have been going to this location 3 days a week minimum for the past 3 years or more. They have some of the nicest girls working there; however, they've gone through a lot of changes in employees over the past year, and the truth is, the quality and consistency of the drinks has gone downhill in an extremely drastic way. It's very obvious from the way the drinks come out that the new employees aren't being taught how to properly make them and have very little knowledge of how to make some of them, as well. In the past year, I have gotten several drinks, consecutively, at back to back visits there that were so bad, they weren't drinkable. I have thrown away entire Velvet Ices - I think so far, I'm up to 6 of them that have been tossed, completely full, b/c they weren't drinkable. What does that equate to, maybe $40 at this point? And while there were times I complained, the drinks were no better the second time around, dare I even say they were worse, and so, I've just stopped going altogether because I can count on the drink I order being improperly made to the point that it isn't even consumable. It's either like water, or has so much coffee, the bitterness makes your teeth curl. It's disappointing to see that this establishment - which I know has had other people complain about the awful inconsistency of the drinks - still hasn't found it important enough to properly train their employees to make these drinks more uniform, or to make sure they understand what can go into the drinks, b/c it's laughable when you ask for something you've gotten for years and the girl at the window will tell you that they can't make it that way.......when that IS how the drink is made. Or my favorite to date, that the reason the drink wasn't sweet was b/c it was made from a powder....... yes, darling, a powder that has sugar in it. Talk about a face palm moment. In short, it just isn't worth going there anymore b/c the owner as a whole doesn't care and I'm just sick of wasting my money on nearly $7 drinks that I wind up donating to the trash can or throwing out the window. read more

Asked for an ice coffee but requested they go light on the ice because sometimes it's 75% ice and only 25% coffee. The server filled the cup up with coffee up only so far before FILLING THE REST UP WITH TAP WATER. At first I was confused and thought maybe that was a different cup but as I started drinking it while leaving it not only tasted watered down but actually rather disgusting with the local tap water. I know how high the margins are at coffee shops, if you have to water down your coffee because I requested 'light ice' then you're doing something wrong. Awful practice, dumped it on the street from my car and will not be back. I recall at this same location nearly a year ago that they wanted to charge me extra because I asked for 'light ice'. No other PJs does this. Idk what's wrong with this location. read more

Ordered a drink with soy milk .. took a few sips only to find out that it was regular milk. I have a dairy allergy. Unacceptable.

I absolutely loved PJ's about four years ago, I got a hot perfectly baked spinach and cheese croissant and a hot chocolate (the cashier gave me extra whip cream!) I came back finally to get the croissant again but with ham, egg, and cheese, but the cashier handed it to me cold and I asked him with distraught, "Aren't you going to toast it..?" And he pointed to the microwave and looked at me like I was asking for too much, which yes, I am a fancy lady, I like my things toasted/ crunchy and soft. I assumed they would do the same thing every year- but now they have a microwave and direct customers to microwave their food. I kind of wanted to return the croissant but just went ahead and heated it in the microwave so it can get super soggy and totally delicious. In no way do I have any criticisms for their drinks now, but if you do happen to come here, do not get any of the food items. Do yourself a favor and go to starbucks where they actually have a convential oven or regular oven to cook things with, their food is slighty better anyway. read more

First off, 3 words: Chai Velvet Ice!!! This drink is the best but I wish they could match my consistency. I go there consistently and I get the same drink every time I just wish the drink texture and taste was always the same. Nothings worst than looking forward to your favorite drink, taking that first long awaited sip, and it taste like pure laziness. I want my tea to taste like love and passion, I don't wanna taste the barista's attitude bc they didn't feel like working for $5/hr plus tips that day. read more

I will never return to this PJ's again because the lack of professionalism, customer service and drink quality is appalling. The young kids who work there try their best however the management seems to have a chip on their shoulder so the training has to start there. I have been a store manager for many years and have never witnessed such a lack of professionalism in my career. The only sens of urgency this manager had was to make sure they get outside to smoke a cigarette. read more
