In the restaurant business, we all have a switch: once the doors open, it flips. Until then, you're seeing people exactly as they are. This team is genuine. Hands down. Yes, I know, I'm technically here for a king cake. Standing in line for a king cake from a famous fried chicken company almost feels satirical. But watching the entire team sit down together for a meal an hour before service told me everything I needed to know about the leadership and the values of this company. People matter here. You can see why the sandwiches are as good as they are. You can feel why the king cake is worth the wait. This team operates like a family; kind to one another, intentional, and connected. The food is made with care because the people are cared for. I'm not here to review the food (which is phenomenal) or the king cake. I'm here to review the brand. This is the kind of business we should be proud to support as a community. Keep it up.

I also like that they feature a daily special that isn't on the regular menu--it adds a nice element of variety. Everything is cooked to order, which is definitely a plus. Just keep in mind that most of the menu is fried, so this isn't the place to go if you're looking for a particularly healthy meal.

I came on Wednesday, which is game night! So. Much. Fun!!! It starts at 7pm, and it's not like your typical trivia. You have to come to understand. The food is so good. I ordered the jerk chicken plate from Johnny's and it was fresh and authentic Jamaican food. You won't be disappointed. I've always thought New Orleans needed more food trucks, and this is a thought. There is a small parking lot in front of the food truck lot, and you can also find parking on the street. Added plus, bottomless mimosas for $13+ tax on Sundays!

Came with rice, plantains and greens. The chicken was on the bone and there were lots of little pieces to pick through. I didn't mind but some may. I came because a friend told me about the snowball truck that has dairy free condensed milk! She mistakenly told me he had a nectar flavor so I had my heart set on that. I ended up with an ice cream flavor with dairy free condensed milk. The condensed milk was delicious! The syrup wasn't as sweet and flavorful as I like my snowballs to be. I would definitely go back to try a different flavor. He makes all of his syrups with natural ingredients and said he may try to figure out a nectar flavor. My biggest complaint and the reason for the less than stellar review was the garbage smell that permeated the area. I tried relocating to three different tables to escape it. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. My best guess is a hidden dumpster somewhere. It was awful and hard for me to enjoy my food when there was a smell of garbage. Lots of space to sit, bathrooms and a bar area for drinks. There was also a live band playing music. It was a nice touch.

I started with their housemade hibiscus margarita with a tajin rim instead of salt. I thought it was good and not too sweet. The tacos, to me, were delicious. I think they have an option for anyone and they have some pretty unique combos. I loved the Korean inspired taco and their classic brisket taco. I did go for the tacos but I did get to try their guacamole and the amazeballs. The guac was not the best and you don't get much -- could've used more seasoning. I liked the amazeballs + they come with a really good chipotle aioli. I think this place has some things to work on while they get situated from reopening but I do think they have some great tacos!

I had to find their schedule on their Facebook page in order to know where exactly they'd be for lunch. Korean is one of my favorite cuisines, so I was stoked to hear that they had a Korean Food Truck in New Orleans! I ordered the Crispy Pork Dumplings and the #1 Bulkoki from the "Korean Famous DupBap" section on their menu. It came with marinated sliced angus beef, rice, vegetables, two pork dumplings, kimchi, and Korean sauce. When the food came out, I was devouring my whole to go box. The Bulkoki was only 8 dollars and it was enough to fill me up. I didn't even need the extra pork dumplings, but it was nice to share with my friends. Overall, this is a pretty good food truck to go to that will definitely fill you up for cheap. If I'm walking and happen to see this food truck, then you already know where I'm headed!
