Learning about what they do as an organization has been AMAZING. Super encouraged by them and the way they bless the community and provide resources for people who may not have any. They are a community and they do vouchers for families as well as supply food, have a thrift store, they also have diapers. So if you know anyone who may be homeless or helpless, recommend non profits such as this one because they exist for the people of this area and really want to help be apart of the solution to the problems that exist!

And although…read moreI'm not ready to take any quizzes, I do know that I have always admired the work they do and have been lucky enough to help out from time to time. Officially it's a denomination--I'm told it's in the Methodist vein--but that it holds a military-like organization so you have officer titles and the like. What I am most familiar with is the work they do to serve and alleviate suffering throughout the 100+ nations in which they have a presence. They're certainly doing that in SLC. We may be familiar with the thrift shops, and with the kettles around the holidays, but they're also working with youth, homeless, and jobless, and those who are less fortunate. This location is their chapel and some offices. It's not lavish and it's not opulent, but it is nice, tidy, and in good repair. I had the chance to walk around a bit today and saw the chapel, library and gymnasium. I've not been for services. I spoke with their volunteer coordinator and there are certainly opportunities to serve. You can ring bells at the kettles, serve food, take Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins, and many other opportunities that are available year-round.

This one is similar in mission and purpose-look them up to see what local charity they provide-they do good things! The store is setup more like a boutique than a thrift store, which makes the experience feel a little nicer than just bargain hunting. Whomever is in charge of dressing the mannequins and putting out the displays does a fantastic job-it really sets the tone of the store and looks incredible! The inventory might be a little less than some of the other second hand stores in the game, but I think they might cater to an older, more classy audience than folks who want to look like they buy their clothes at a thrift store. (Nothing wrong with either group!) Based on the clientele I saw here, this is the perfect place to bring your mom or grandma or to get a lovely dress for a tea party with a matching hat. The Sharing Place allows a place of no judgement where people can come to to share their memories of these people. I came here for a tour last Saturday, and it was amazing. This is such a nice tidy location and the woman who helped give us a tour was amazing. She really let us better understand all the creative thinking that goes into helping the individuals who come here. They start off by separating the children from the adult and their approaches for both group are completely different. There's just so much good that goes on to create an environment to help everyone. Some people have been here for years because it really helps deal with the passing of a dead one, and often times, the first year after a loss, the individual is still trying to figure it out and deal with the funeral and what not. The second and third year is when the pain really hits often times--and The Sharing Place is just the perfect place for everyone who shares this loss. Important info in case you or someone you know is interested in participating: Open September to May Twice a month there are meetings Families are asked to pledge whatever they can afford on a monthly basis, and it is placed in an envelope and remains completely anonymous. Whether it's $5 or $200 a month, any bit helps with the cost of running this place. If you want to volunteer, please do! They also take donations, so please do give if you can!

However…read morefinding the donation drop off place was little confusing as #1: it's a tiny place at the side of the building with no obvious sign, #2: no one is there to receive your donations, #3: not enough space, only one car at a time can drop off stuff. I had to go inside to collect my donation receipt. Oh! There is a metal detector at the entrance O_O ...although, I didn't have to go through that to collect my receipt
