The staff and sensei's provide such a fun, loving, welcoming, and happy environment to the kids. My daughter has enjoyed everyday that she went so much! Drop offs are a breeze but the pick ups are tough because she never wants to leave. You can tell that everyone who works here truly love what they do and cares about every person who walks through their doors. I had to pick up my daughter in the afternoon to take her to an appointment and the staff was so flexible with my request! They let me pick her up at the field trip and they let me drop her back off at the center. She missed getting ice cream because of the appointment but the instructor saved one for her when she got back this place is magical and wonderful!

My son not only stays active and has a great time but each day i pick him up to his homework done and reviewed for accuracy by one of the instructors. This has become my sons 2nd family and each instructor cares for my son and watches over him. As a mother i feel comfort knowing he is there and i do not have to worry about his well-being. I 100% recommend this AMAZING opportunity and highly encourage you to give it a try. Thanks AMAA for the A++ service and programs provided for our children!!

I can't give too much of a review, it really didn't work out right from the start…read more Both instructors seem like very nice men, however, the program has some critical problems. Their "adult class" consist of persons as young as 13 years old. A man sized opponent really isn't fair to a person as young as 13, I fence epee. Also, I am not interested in fencing with children, but adults. that is not offered there. it's $230.00 a month for 3 times a week. That's rather costly to face the distraction of children. There are not many offerings in the area, so the lack of a true adult fencing program or club is problematic. Now, if this were for my children, I would absolutely recommend it, but this is for me. You' think that in San Diego County, there would be MORE available for adult fencers. The argument presented that there just isn't interest is absolutely false. It's just that adults aren't fencing because there aren't fencing clubs for us specifically. it's by it's nature not an expensive sport. but if I am going to pay in excess of $230.00 a month, it's going to have to cater to actual adult fencers. This said, I am very glad this is available to children, I was a child when I began fencing. It was a wonderful activity that kept me out of trouble and I had a lot of fun. In order to sign up for this, you have to go through the city Parks and Recreation departmental. In speaking with them, you can't possibly talk to a more unpleasant and unhelpful person. That experience detracts from the "class" altogether, which is why my ratings is only three stars compelling me to drive 2 to 3 hours away to OC or LACO so I can actually have the club experience that I want. I'm glad this program is available for kids, if you want your kid to train to fence, this is a great place. Champions will be made there. More on the coaches. Maestro Eric (Coach) is a responsive coach, and a very pleasant coach. Really upbeat and wants to address this. However, city parks makes this a real issue and are more geared toward children. Whereas I am interested in adult competitive olympic fencing. Without a doubt both coaches would be perfect to train me. But city parks and recreation make that impossible. However, should that ever change, I would very much like to see if going there to train would be a better fit for me as they are local and I am driving two hours to train now.

It's a helluva workout and if I lived closer I'd probably get into more often. Their motto is "Where children know they're loved" and they live up to it. Every teacher knows every child, and everyone is treated like family. They have a lovely playground and spend quality time outdoors, tending the garden, observing the wildlife, and practicing their motor skills. They have chapel twice a week with Miss Patty and have the opportunity to be in a beautiful church with stained glass windows, experiencing sacred art and architecture. Miss Patty (a wonderful musician) plays the grand piano and leads the children in fun singing, praising God. One of their favorites is "Rejoice in the Lord always!" One or two kids light the candle every week and snuff it out, offering their little prayers to God, celebrating birthdays, praying for sick pets, saying thank you for our blessings (they do a beautiful Blessing of the Animals on the feast of St. Francis). Kids also have the opportunity to participate in Ash Wednesday traditions. I went every year with my daughter for the imposition of ashes. Fr. Barrett, the rector, regularly gives children's sermons during chapel. There are supplemental enrichment classes as well - music, karate, science, visits from the police, fire department, tooth fairy, and other community helpers. The kids love the summer program as well - each week there is a different theme and water play days! My daughter attended for 3 years and was more than ready for elementary school at the end of it. The social skills she developed are priceless. She also came out knowing all the basics as well - shapes, colors, letters, practicing writing. Oh, and did I mention, they potty trained her, too, and were happy to do it! As a parent who didn't have that much extended family support - the CLC community was a lifeline. Tracie and Sheila and the teachers were there for me to help me in the tricky toddler years of parenting, and I am eternally grateful. Logistics - Drop off and pick up are convenient - easy parking. The cost is affordable compared to other preschools I looked at, and they give church members a tuition discount, which I appreciated very much. They also have high teacher retention which is so important for the children and their sense of stability. Each teacher brings a unique skill set and personality and they work together as a team. The parent community is wonderful, too, and there are multiple events throughout the year for the families to connect - like the bike-a-thon and the wonderful Christmas concert the kids and teachers put on. Thank you, THANK YOU to all the loving teachers and directors, past and present, and the board members who do so many extra special things behind the scenes to make the preschool such a nurturing place for our children.
