The massage was great and deep tissue as I requested. HOWEVER...... the pricing is questionable. When I scheduled my appointment on-line, a phone number from Gallup, NM texted me. I was quoted at $70 for 1 hour if I paid cash and $75.12 if I paid with a card. When me massage was over, I went to reception area to pay the massage therapist told me in a very tone $75. I paid her the $75 and she ran to the back. I wanted To request a receipt. I texted the massage business immediately, and was told I paid with card. This business is questionable, poor accounting practices, and unsure if the massage therapist are licensed. there was no licensure posted anywhere. Use cation! read more

I went back to Placidity again for a massage...and booked another massage/cupping session with May to help with all the extreme tightness in my upper back/shoulders from office syndrome! I loved the cupping session and the massage right after cupping, too. The session was strong and very much to my liking. I liked that they use the real fire cupping (and not the weaker plastic cups to do the suction) and do some gliding of the cups to help loosen all the stiffness/fascia as well. I believe May was my therapist. I didn't bring my hearing aides so I only heard about half of what was said. I only understood about half of that, and I only cared about half of that. My wife says that I don't listen to her, or something like that. Regardless, I felt like I got about 8-9 Rolfing sessions in one hour. She told me I would be sore, but I have been getting bodywork for over 50 years and that didn't bother me. I did get a little sore, but the relief from the tightness was worth the temporary pain. I climb a lot of ladders, and for the first time in several years I now have enough flexibility in my right hip to let me climb and descend symmetrically instead of like a gimp. Even my chiropractor was impressed. That's incredible! I am going to add the cupping next time. I believe you can also get a milk toast type massage, but I appreciate a deep massage for my high mileage body. I work hard and do a fair amount of heavy lifting, so my muscles are need serious help. I have been here many times and love the massage! However, recently, when it's time to pay, things have gotten weird. I always tip about $10, but was told that that wasn't enough! My wife heard about Placidity through Yelp and Google reviews. We decided on a couple's massage for our ninth anniversary. Neither of us have ever had a professional massage in our lives. We visited on a Saturday, April 17, 2022. Earlier in the day, we'd done a body pump class at our local Defined Fitness so we were tired and sore. We booked a one hour massage. Upon entering we were instructed to disrobe and cover up our unmentionables with a white sheet. We hung our clothes up on hooks inside the room. The green room had two massage tables and relaxing music playing. Our masseuses entered the room at exactly 1:00 PM and started our massages on the scalp and neck regions. My masseuse was named Carrie and she asked if I wanted a deep tissue. I said yes, but I would let her know if it hurt too much. Carrie probably weighs a buck fifteen, but she got out all my shoulder knots and used her elbows, knees and hands to really get out all the kinks. She did excellent lower back work and really eased my tired legs. She used hot rocks on my entire body along with hot oil to work out all my soreness. This couldn't have gone any better after a hard workout. My wife and I both left this establishment completely relaxed and feeling great. We paid sixty dollars each and with a tip paid a total of $145. Completely worth every single penny. Placidity will be moving from its current location in 2-3 months due to lease issues. So look for them in their new location soon. Visit them to get rid of all your muscle and joint pain. read more

Fantastic Chinese massage!! One of the best I've ever had. This is Chinese massage, not Swedish or hippy, so adjust accordingly. Reports of bad draping are from overly sensitive people. I have been having back problems for a few months and PT said I could try a massage. I booked 1/2 hour. I have never done deep tissue before - told her to focus on my back and that I had pain. This was not a relaxing time. There was no gentle start- she basically started beating on me from the first second. I would have liked her to ease into it to see how I reacted first. Maybe I should have spoken up more. I came out of there feeling bruised and battered (and I literally am bruised). The good news is that I do feel slight improvement in my problem area, so I may go back for more in a few weeks after the bruising goes away. I wish I had asked for her name. read more

Answered phone during first 10 minutes of massage. Completely exposes client's body when facing down and pulls undergarments down excessively. Pressured me to continue massage after I asked to Stop several times. This is not a therapeutic facility, and I felt extremely uncomfortable with the lack of professionalism and lack of communication between client and person giving massage. Licensed massage therapists are typically trained better than the experience I received. I gave this place a chance because of the great reviews on yelp! When I spoke with a woman she said the cost was $60.00. A third of the way into the rubdown (Windy) sticks a bottle of "essential oil" in my face and asks 'if I wanted the oil?' I said sure, and she said it would be $10.00. I got to pay the bill and it states it's $78.12. I asked why is it that much, she said because I used my debit card. I asked her if I paid cash, it would have been $70.00. (Why didn't she tell me that)? Then I put $0.00 in the tip section and she gave me the merchant's copy back and asked me; "Aren't you going to tip Windy?" (who was standing right next to her, unbelievable) I gave her a $5.00. The 90 minute massage was just okay. It was different from any massages I have had before and I have had many massages. She did work hard but never asked me what I needed her to work on or any issue she needed to pay attention to. She pulled the top over sheet down to my thighs exposing my butt the entire time I was on my stomach. I have never had that happen before. It was totally unprofessional and uncomfortable. I was afraid she was going to do the same thing, when I flipped over on my back. NO ONE should EVER be uncomfortable during a massage. After the massage was done, the woman at the front desk said, she only accepted cash, so I assume they don't pay local state and city taxes. I gave the masseuse, a 15% tip on top of the cash I paid for the massage. The other woman asked her how much I paid her, then the other woman came and asked if I could pay even more. I was put on the spot so I reluctantly gave them $5 more and they looked at me like they expected even more than that. A 15% tip is widely accepted as a good tip for good service. They demanded more than the 20% I gave them. Joe S., servers at restaurants don't demand a bigger tip than what is offered, nor should your employees. It felt like they were begging. No way was that appropriate. I got the feeling they were either put in the position to do this, or they were requiring only cash for the massage, so they don't have to register the sale, maybe hiding it from the owner. Something wasn't right and it just felt strange. The entire experience was really weird. Joe S., is this how you run your business? No wonder walk-ins are welcomed! My guess is, that's because no one being treated this way, ever returns! Took a friend here and he was not treated properly. Pictures are quite misleading. The therapist was very rough and did not adjust to his liking. The therapist also straddled and sat on his legs. Very careless with draping (he was exposed NUMEROUS times, including his behind, which is illegal in NM). The therapist was verbally abusive and commented often on his body size. I have been visiting Placidity on a regular basis for 2 years. I first met Carrie and her massage technique was fabulous, deep and firm. However I soon met May and this was the beginning of the 4 hand massages I now receive. Both ladies have excellent technique and use their elbows and knees to add to the experience. Probably the best massages I have ever received. The hot stone therapy adds to the experience. The ladies are very nice and pleasent to spend time with.
