It's a bit spendy, and the beach itself is quite rocky, but it's an adorable spot to stop and relax, and the open bar/restaurant is beautifully built, and aesthetically magnificent (with exceptional people watching). What fantastic memories! We shared a DELICIOUS Sashimi Tataki (basically sliced Ahi, but the fish was outstanding quality), and a bottle of Chateau Sainte Beatrice Cotes de Provence Cuvee Vaussiere Rose. We also got espresso to help settle the wine and prep for our climb up Neitzsche Path, back to Domaine Pins-Paul. In fact, we had hiked down the path following Fiona, the wandering pup from our inn. She wasn't meant to climb all the way down to Bord de Mer, so we simply used Anjuna's phone to call the proprietor, who came down to fetch his naughty little pup (she wandered about an hour and a half down the cliffs of Eze and crossed train tracks to end up on the beach!!). We decided to try the restaurant while waiting, and it was a fantastic time. Think of this as a higher end beach bar.... or just a beach bar with a price that slightly bites. Nice beach, rosé flowing, music pumping and, by late afternoon, everyone from 20-year-olds to people old enough to know better dancing on the tables. It looked FANTASTIC. Unfortunately, we'd arrived at 1.55pm for our 2pm reservation. We sat down at 3.50pm. Not because somebody eventually remembered us, but because after nearly two hours of smiling, asking nicely, reminding reception that we existed and watching people who'd arrived after us being seated, my wife finally cornered a manager and effectively negotiated our release from restaurant purgatory. By this point Anjuna had erupted into one of the best parties on the Riviera. And I was absolutely livid. I've rarely experienced the peculiar sensation of watching 200 people have the time of their lives while becoming progressively more miserable myself. I wanted to dance on a table. I wanted another margarita. I wanted to be one of those carefree people waving a napkin above their head. Instead I sat there smarting at the total disrespect and humiliation they served up. The food was average. The party was great. The management's attitude towards customers was utterly appalling. Anjuna appears to have mistaken being popular for having permission to treat people like shit. Perhaps when you've got a queue of people keen to get in, customers start to look less like guests and more like livestock with credit cards. Which is a shame, because underneath all the arrogance there's actually a fantastic place trying to get out. Would I go back? NOT EVER!

Forget St. Tropez, Ipanema, Playa del Carmen, Belize, Florida, and Hawaii. While I do love all those beaches for different reasons, and really if you're hanging at the beach, life is still pretty good no matter which one you choose to chill at, La Mala is a cut above the rest. Definitely geared towards a younger high society crowd, the vibe is still amazing. However one downfall is that there isn't sand. It's rocks. So plan on bringing your water shoes. On to all yelpers most important subject, food. Here's what my table ordered: Mixed Fruit plate: a combination of every fruit I could think of plus some fruits I didn't recognize. The presentation was nice and the fruit was refreshing under the hot sun. Actually this is the only dish I got a pic of. Pizza Magherita: any Yelper from San Francisco is probably an expert in Magherita pizzas by now. The Magherita pizza at La Reserve was the best I've had yet. Chicken Caesar Salad: I didn't try the salad but a couple of my friends did. They said it was really good. There was a lot of food (such as seafood, etc) being served to people around me that all looked Food or Travel Channel worthy. We ordered the local lager & a Chablis which were both good. We also ordered one of the pizzas which was really good. We continued drinking and enjoying the beach but there wasnt much of an atmosphere, no music :/ we wanted to get a couples massage but they only had one masseuse but I would like to note that she was the nicest person working at that establishment and so she deserves a mention. We ended up spending around $250 and wouldve spent much more if the service and atmosphere were good. At the end of our visit the server said oh theres no pin to your card I can just charge it to $500 yeah and I just laughed nervously because I was uncomfortable. Like we get it your a private beach club but ive been to private beach clubs around the world and this is one of the less desirable ones ive been to. Its tacky to bring up money so much. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. This kind of service is rare and truly appreciated. I can't wait to come back tomorrow!
