tofu scramble

I won't lie - there were a few times where I had to stop and ask myself "is this really vegan?" and it really was! My mom (omnivore) and I stopped here for breakfast one morning. I got the tofu scramble and refried beans with tortillas. The tortillas were fresh and warm and delicious, but those beans stole the show. They were so flavorful (read that in italics for emphasis). My mom got an omelette which was also served with the beans. The texture of that omelette was incredible and the whole thing had so much savory goodness packed into it. She "wasn't hungry" but somehow ate the entire thing. We don't speak Spanish and they didn't really speak English so they asked the manager from the sister restaurant to come over and translate. Our fault for not learning more of the language! But they were attentive and the food was awesome. I want to come back and try the rest of that menu, especially for lunch and dinner. Go and you won't regret it!

This place had a wide variety of dishes. Vegan friendly. Our server was very helpful and friendly. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We enjoyed all different types of foods here. The pizzas were my favorite here. Great outdoor seating!

Super cute cafe in Condesa. I came for breakfast on a Easter morning and was the only one there. My Spanish isn't great (or even decent) but all the ladies working were incredibly nice and helpful. I had a really good vegan omelette and a coconut milk cappuccino and it was a great start to my day!

Ojo de Agua was hands down one of our favorite food finds in Mexico City. Even though they have…read moreseveral locations across CDMX, we stumbled upon one just a short walk from our hotel--and the fact that they were open on Christmas Day already earned bonus points. What really says it all? We loved it so much, we went back the very next day. This was the only restaurant we repeated during our week-long stay, which should tell you everything. The menu is extensive and thoughtfully curated--fresh, flavorful, and something for everyone. We tried the croissant sandwich, salmon deli nut sandwich, chutney mango deli sandwich, santos ahogados, fig chipotle deli sandwich, pear honey deli sandwich, and the spicy tuna deli sandwich. The sandwiches came with a standard simple salad. Every single item was delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying in that "clean but filling" way. The tables had two delicious spicy chili oil like condiments which elevated each of these dishes. And the juices--WOW. So refreshing, vibrant, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The perfect complement to the food and ideal for starting (or resetting) your day. If you're visiting Mexico City, Ojo de Agua is an absolute must. With such a wide menu, you're guaranteed to find something you'll love--and very likely come back for more. Highly recommend!

Very fresh and affordable healthy options! We stopped in on a weekday afternoon after walking by…read moreearlier and seeing how packed it was. We tried a few juices, the chicken tomato salad and the salmon tacos. The salad was huge with a big portion of chicken, avocado and many toppings for a reasonable price. The tacos were smaller but flavorful. Taking off a star because my salad arrived almost 15 minutes before my boyfriend's tacos arrived and the restaurant was pretty empty. The lights were out in the bathroom and in part of the restaurant, so not sure if they were dealing with a partial power outage and impact to the kitchen. Still recommend for the food!

We stopped in for dinner and were greeted by a very friendly, English-speaking server. I ordered the lentil soup (110 pesos) to start -- pretty tasty, but overpriced given what you get. My wife & I also shared the huitlacoche dumplings (150 pesos), which comes with 4 dumplings filled with a sort of corn-like filling and topped with a peanuty sauce -- tasty, but a rip-off for 4 pieces. For our mains, I got the protein bowl (280 pesos) and added some chickpea chorizon (25 pesos). Fairly boring but healthy bowl. Nothing really stood out. The tofu was not plentiful enough, nor prepared all that well. Satisyfing enough, but again, overpriced. My wife got the Enfrijoladas (265 pesos), a dish with pink tortillas filled with plantains, coconut cheese and almonds, all sitting in a black bean sauce. The tastes I had were pretty solid, but lacked flavour depth and needed some spices to amp it up. All in all, not worth the hype, especially if you're looking for authentic vegan Mexican. There are many other places worth prioritizing in town.
