And now, located across the freeway from Parkdale Mall: Planet Fitness! But it's only $10/month; what do you get for only $10/month? Quite a bit, it turns out. Naturally, different people need different things.  Some spend all their time on the Stairmaster and/or treadmill.  Some work only on the weights.  Some go for general overall conditioning.  Planet Fitness has equipment for all of them.  They also have saunas to the right.  The equipment is kept in good working shape.  The equipment at one gym may be slightly different than at another; I found that out by visiting this gym (I'm a member at a PF near San Francisco). You expect only the bare minimum at a cut-rate gym, but Planet Fitness offers much more.  Classes and personal trainers are available, with a maximum capacity of five.  A separate room for an overall general workout that takes 30 minutes.  Bags, hats, shirts, and water bottles with the gym's logo on them. Clientele:  They openly do not cater to the gym rats, but to normal people like you and me.  I've seen housewives, construction workers, retirees, fit people, fat people, all kinds of people.  It's a "judgement free zone". Unfortunately, I saw a notice at the front door telling you not to open-carry your gun in PF, even in gun-loving Texas; I guess concealed-carry is okay, heh heh. If you're a black tag member, then you can visit any Planet Fitness and bring a friend. The Hunny has this, and as we're in SETX for Christmas vacation, I'm her friend. (We're married, so I hope she sees me as more than a mere friend!) The square footage is larger and the ceiling is taller, but it's the same down-to-earth vibe that we're accustomed to. And we both got a good workout. That'll come in handy after having a huge dinner to celebrate the Incarnation (well, it's better than lots of stupid presents, although the girl is likely to get those, grrrr). If you're not the gym rat type, and your New Years Resolution is to finally get in shape and lose all that weight, I strongly recommend Planet Fitness! read more

Love that they have Several of each machine and plenty of cardio machines! I can get there early workout, shower, and get dressed for work without having to drive back home. Thank you Planet Fitness! read more

Well make suree to check and double check tO see if you have a contract!! Won't let me out of my contract or switch it for another member of the family after beinG told there was no contract. So after being called by manager on a Sunday morning and told both contacts were canceled I'm still getting charged. Please beware of planet fitness unless you're food with lies!!! read more

They do not even deserve a star. My sister joined and then became blind. She can't drive or see to write and she called Planet Fitness in Sept of 2018 to cancel and they told her she would have to come in and she can't see to get there. She told the guy that she could not get there and he said OK and she thought that it would be canceled. Her son just took over her finances (July 2019) and saw that they were still charging her. She called me and I called them on three way from another state and tried to get them to cancel and they still would not. Really...stealing from a blind person. Do you need the money that bad??? This gym is very clean and organized. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely use this gym again. I do wish that planet fitness would put a smith machine in the stretch area or just somewhere that's not in the middle of the room for some privacy. read more

had our stuff locked in a locker with a planet fitness lock and all of our stuff was stolen. our wallet, keys, bag, EVERYTHING. they couldn't pull the cameras because the manager was not there so they couldn't help us find out who did it. we won't be return again. read more

Nice place but I can see it starting to gradually go down. Some of the towel dispensers have been down since they went to the manual type. 1 big screen monitor has been down for weeks. And for some ungodly reason one monitor is always on Jerry Springer in the morning. How inappropriate! read more

No complaints about this gym...until you want to cancel your membership. Moved out-of-state to a town with no PF before my year contract was up. Fine. It happens. Kept paying and contacted them after the year was up. Jumped through all their hoops, sent certified letter, etc. When I got the return receipt, I assumed my obligation was fulfilled. Silly me. STILL getting eft every month. Manager is NEVER available, never returns calls. "Call back on Monday." Seriously. I JUST WANT TO QUIT THE GYM! read more

I've been going here since September '15 and the only complaint I have is where are the squat racks? I need some more free weights. But this is a fitness center, not a gym. Remember that... Staff is awesome! Cleanliness is a 9/10. Try it if you're just starting out. read more

It is a great place to work out and friendly staff. The only thing I see is bad at this location, is they allow people to bring backpack and duffle bags laying by the machines. Tonight around 830 to 930 there was a lady in the 30 minute workout with a tripod set up live streaming her workout. I felt awkward workout out in that section due to me not want to be on her live streaming. To me they should not be allowed to have a tripod setup to live stream there workouts. read more

This is a great place to workout. The only way they could improve would be to stop people from sitting on a machine for 20 minutes using their cell phones and not the machine. Workout or get out. read more

When will the black card area open again? Too many kids sitting around on machines playing on their phones and holding up everyone's workout regime! They don't enforce the handicap parking areas out front so I seen elderly people with placards have to park and walk just to do some rehab work! read more

I LOVE this PF! It's extremely spacious and open. The bathrooms, all the machines, tanning beds, EVERYTHING is always super clean. Most of the employees (I say most because I've had a few who you could clearly tell didn't want to be there) are very friendly and accommodating. Plus, it's a super great price! read more
