As both black card members, my fiancé and I drove out here to use their tanning booths, Saturday, May 24 at 2:45pm. We have been here before without a problem. We primarily go to Planet Fitness on Rt 88, Brick. We scanned upon entry and went to check in for tanning. My picture comes up on the screen but I was told I need ID. I didn't bring it. My fiancé drove. Last thing I want is to bring my wallet and ID into a gym and have it stolen. The older blond woman, skinny with glasses had no compassion. My picture was on the screen! But she sent me away. I am insulted! Rude! The woman that is often there during the week and the man there as well, are always so sweet. Beware members! You can pay for the upgraded membership but can be treated like you stole you your own identity. My picture was on the screen. You need more proof than my membership scan card with my picture??? Although my fiancé had his Drivers license in his truck, he was not going to get it with her turning me away. Ridiculous! I will stick with Rt 88. read more

I've been a member going on 3 years now. during this time, I've heard 2 other people say this is the best one. the first person said he has been to about 12, the 2nd person recently said he has been to about 7 planet fitness locations. my reasons for this being the best one compared to another one I've only been to is the size of the place, location, very personable and professional staff, open 24 7, and kept very clean. hope things always stay the way they are.... also a great price for the black card membership! read more

I work out in Brick on Hooper Ave. This location is very clean And organized. I never have to wait to use any equipment. Chris at the front desk is always friendly and helpful. He has answered all my questions about equipment and explained to me all the benefits when I asked about the total body fitness... which is amazing. I used to go to PF by Poorboys subs before they closed down than went to LA Fitness an just recently went back to Planet Fitness on Brick Blvd by Stop N Shop an it's brand new pretty much it is clean they have more equipment than their old location by poorboys an now that the old female manager that had attitude a year an half ago is gone all the staff is extremely helpful and nice the new woman manager is extremely helpful an it's overall became a better gym since I rejoined in May 2022 an just started going again Sept 2023 since I gained a bunch of relationship weight... Love this gym once I need more than 100 dumbbells I plan on staying because I travel an being able to camp in my vehicle an go to PF workout and shower anywhere nation wide is a must an way cheaper than hotel or truck stop showers... Only problem is the gym has gotten noticeably busier since Retro Fitness across the street went out of business last year... read more

The place delivers exactly what it's description says it will. You provide your own motivation they provide the rest. You get as much out of it as you put into it. If you want to be noticed do a video at home otherwise pay 10-15 a month spend an hour there 3-4 days a week and get on with your life. read more

I was asked to leave this location one day because my normal tank top was intimidating and revealing. The last few weeks actual lunks started wearing tiny ass tank tops. This is where I come for machines it's busy and that is expected it's 10$ a month people it's open 24 Monday thru. Thursday I need later fri sat sun hours. After 1.5 years at a slightly more local gym at $60 per mth I gave this place a try. Caught their $15 deal and a week later they were running a $10 per mth deal and let me switch. Cool. I've read the other reviews and can't say I agree with much. Never found it over crowded to the point where every treadmill was in use and even at their peak hours I can get on the weight machines. If one is taken in my routine I just jump on something else until it's free. No worries there. I also read that the users aren't wiping down the gear after use. I noticed that actually most do. They have plenty of stations with paper towels and spray. I don't need their locker rooms so nothing to add there. They seem pretty standard. The best thing I found compared to the fancy more expensive place was the lack of socializing amongst the gear. At PF people seem to do their thing and move on. Granted PF doesn't have the free coffee or protein shake bar but that's not why I go. The $10 deal is basic. One location. Which is fine. It does lack the yoga, spin, etc classes but not my thing. 5 weeks in and I'm totally happy with the place and the extra $600 in my pocket at the end of the year. read more

I just rejoined Planet Fitness today after a long hiatus. I was welcomed by two smiling faces behind the desk at the Planet Fitness in Brick. One was named Kyle and I wish I could remember the other man's name. These two men could not have been more helpful and polite. They explained everything to me and offered me a tour and told me more information that I needed. They were patient with my questions and made me feel so welcomed. Brick location management is a JOKE...It is a VERY competive fitness business around this area.I have been a member for over a year.I got a text from corporate there was a problem with my payment.I called immediately and told corporate it was Thanksgiving and I was away.Be back on Sunday and will drop off $10 cash owed.I was told no problem.Went Sunday to club and now it was $20 they were adding a late fee.Told them I talked to corporate.I was told they DON'T care all clubs were independent.So I quit!!! Now I waited a couple of weeks and decieded to go back and reactivate my membership.Now im told you cant reactivate and have to pay $29 plus $10 a month plus another fee in 2 months...I think $39.I asked about the advertised special of 0 down and $10 month.Again they told they were independent and did NOT have to honor the advertised price.They basically chased away a member!!! read more

The staff at this gym is very kind to me every time I come in. However, the manager Maureen is one of the most unpleasant people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Every time I go in there and she is working she always has a horrible attitude towards customers and her fellow employees. I always hear her complaining or just being down right negative. As a manager of a business for 10 years myself, that is not acceptable behavior for someone who is supposed to be setting an example for her employees. Ugh, that is all I have to say. Easily the worst gym around. I have been to other Planet Fitness locations and they're not much better, but the staff at this one really throws me off. They had very nice staff for a while, back in the fall of 2018 (ish) then those employees seemed to disappear. Ava was my favorite. Harli who is a manager now is so kind and sweet too and is always able to answer everyone's questions. However, one of there [past] managers, Mike, is so rude. I have seen him talk down upon his employees and amongst doing that, he is rude to customers. When a customer walks in, typically you should put your phone down and greet them and ask for their card... Not him. He kept his phone in his hand and would not even look at me. When I asked to tan, he almost blew a casket it looked like. WHY do you work in customer service if you cannot accept that people are going to need/want help or I don't know- utilize the common services you offer and that I pay for monthly? Horrible. I really need to cancel my membership the second I get my year mark because I refuse to pay them a cancellation fee as of now. read more

They totally oversold the cheap memberships.Making it worse are the daydreamers ,chatty teenage women and texters, all while just sitting there on the machines. I was a member for a year. Where to begin? It's over-crowded no matter what time you go. It's smelly and there are no hand sanitizer pumps anywhere to be found. GROSS! It's loaded with teenagers who text and socialize in between machines so you can forget it if you are just trying to work out and get home. Many times there were no treadmills open, and there were often two or more people waiting for a certain machine. Look, I'm no gym expert. But that's exactly why Planet Fitness works for me. It's not for people who have experience with gyms. It's not for bodybuilders. It's not for workout junkies. It's for schlubs like me who want to get in better shape. There are fat people (like me). In spandex (unlike me). They are using the treadmills, the exercise bikes, the weights, all of it. If this is something that's going to bother you, you might not want to be there. This gym is not for you. Go to the gyms where everyone is already in decent shape. I go here and I'm not stared at or scoffed at. No one cares that I'm pasty white. It's remarkably guido-free (though this is off-season). The attendants are friendly without being overbearing. The equipment works well. (Though, I wish there were more than four regular exercise bikes.) Best of all, it's $10 a month. read more

This is the worst gym I have ever been to in my life. I went in to change my credit card on file and also payed my bill CASH. and then watched the person type in my valid information. I was then sent out a bill with a late fee...I called planet fitness and spoke to Casey and then she told me that the person that put in my information was fired and that the manager would wave the late fee. I just went in to pay my bill and I was told by the co workers Tommy and Joysie that they can not wave the fee because they just can't. Tommy was speaking to the manager as I was at the front desk and rudely interrupted and said we are not doing that for you. The person who so called got fired STOLE my money!! The manager had NO recollection of what my situation was and decided to make a decision. The lack of miscommunication is incredibly horrible and the manager (that I haven't met) had no right to make a decision without speaking to me. When I told Joysie that I shouldn't pay the late fee..she said "well it will just go into collections." HOW RUDE!! I am so irritated that the person who so called got fired probably has my credit card information! This is the worst gym ever...and the way they run their gym is unprofessional. I joined this place before it opened and they allowed me to work out at the Toms River facility in the interim. Probably the third time at the TR location I had a kid who worked there accuse me of dropping a weight and gave me the whole no judgement zone/lunk alarm speech. Eventually, I started going to the Brick location and there would be people moaning and groaning and dropping weights on a weekly basis and nobody said a word. This was a little weird because, I believe the same guy owns both places, so you would think there would be some consistency with the rules on being a lunk. Anyway, the biggest joke/scam that happened at this place involved my billing one month. I believe the issue began because they didn't charge my debit card this particular month(keep in mind that the monthly payment was automatically charged to my debit card each month) and they told me I needed to pay the late fee or they were canceling my membership. They tried to turn it around and make it my fault and asked me to bring in documentation that I had available funds in my account to cover the ten bucks. This was after days of going back and forth, and at one point the girl told me to just pay the late fee. Normally, I would but it was the principle of the matter, and after jumping through several hoops it was eventually waived. Why would anyone pay a late fee for no reason. This happened to several members during the same time frame, so it wasn't just a problem with my card, it was something with their billing company. However, they felt it would be easier to pass the problem on to the members. I have enough going on in my life, that I really don't need to go back and forth calling my bank, printing out account statements, and calling the gym to straighten out such nonsense. Anyway, for ten buck a month you don't have many options in the Brick area. Retro is twenty a month and not too far away, but the Brick location puts the Retro franchise to shame. read more

This place is filthy dirty all the time! Cobwebs, trim peeling off the walls, smells like a locker room all the time. The kids at the front desk most likely still have mommy clean their room. I have gotten to the place that I have to use the Planet Fitness in NYC on 27th street prior to going to work - WHAT A WORLD of difference in cleanliness, friendly staff and help when you need. Hours on weekends are only 7a to 5p, not 7-7 as posted on Yelp. I have been a member of this gym for about 7 years now and the customer service has really gone downhill. Never anyone at the desk, and if they are, they are on their personal cell phone texting or playing games. The ceiling and rafters are coated with dust and have not been cleaned since the place opened about 8 years ago. When the fans are on you can see the dust wafting down. I don't think it would pass a Boaof Health inspection! When you point out broken treadmills to the staff, or even to the manager (Tom) they don't get fixed. Same with the dirty ceiling. The owner is never there to even speak to. I joined another gym at the beginning of the summer which is AWESOME but still keep my membership here because it is cheap and right around the corner from my house. Maybe they will contact me after this but they haven't bothered when I complained in person. Once again, dirty gym, broken treadmills and the ones that work aren't plugged in - WTF! And the kid behind the desk watches me crawl on the floor to fix my treadmill while she plays on her cell phone! read more

This is the best gym I ever been to when you consider price and employee satisfaction. Only ten bucks a month with no fee or comminment not many gyms can offer that. Tons of tredmills and equipment is always clean and in wonderful shape. Staff is also very pleasent. They always greet you when you enter and exit the gym. This gym is very nice as long as you time it properly. If you go early in the morning you are less likely to have to fight people for machines and deal with the average gym congestion. The evening hours are pretty much out of the question when it comes to getting a full workout in. This gym would be better if they truly were 24 hours everyday of the week. The biggest downfall to this gym is the smell and cleanliness of the locker rooms and workout areas. The locker rooms have a horrendous smell to them that could easily be fixed with proper cleaning practices. The area about the equipment could be cleaned more often to cut down on the smell and spread of skin diseases. Hopefully this gym gets better with its practices so people can workout with having to clothespin their noses. read more

Been at this gym for 2 years. Always clean. Plenty of cardio machines, but being that it's pretty small, sometimes you have to wait for dumbbells, the Smith Machine, and some other machines. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add in free barbells- 1) the Smith Machine for squats and even chest press is terrible for form. 2) DEADLIFTS. It's a great beginner gym. Guys don't bother you. This company acts like they can't stop credit cards but they can. I was in there and talked with a lady claiming to be management (later I found was not a manager) and stated she was placing notes on the account that would allow me to pay in cash and block the card from automatic payments. This did not happen so their annual payment pushed through and now I have a domino effect disaster at the bank. Long story short this will result in a refund or lawsuit. Most likely they will want a lawsuit, planet fitness could care less about you the individual, they only care about what they can charge you for. Quite the scam mentality. Treadmills belts totally wornout and off balance. Gym is dirty with 2 stray bottles of what is diluted cleaner or water. Bathrooms are always dirty with papertowels overflowing while the team sits at the front desk. Everyone is very nice but the gym is not maintained or sanitized well in my opinion. read more
