The gym used to be well run when Vince was the manager. However, he was reassigned to open up a new branch closer to the border between the Bronx and Westchester County. The new manager has not maintained the equipment, locker rooms or bathrooms the way Vince used to. Over a week ago an "out of order" sign appeared on one of the two stalls in the only men's restroom. No repair person ever came to fix the problem. Today, an "out of order" sign appeared on the other restroom stall door. That means there are no sit-down toilets available to the men who use the gym, only the urinals. I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. The staff member at the desk told me the manager was not in. I went home and called 311 and turned in a complaint for the conditions. I have worked out at other Planet Fitness locations including the one at Carle Place, Long Island, New York as well as the one in Inverness, Florida. Those locations are immaculate. Their equipment is brand new and well-maintained. There are enough duplicates of each type of machine that one does not have to wait in line. Perhaps the corporate executives of Planet Fitness have decided that, since my gym is in the Bronx, it is not as important as their gyms in those predominantly white areas. Whatever the reason, the White Plains location of Planet Fitness is one of the most poorly run franchises in the chain. At the very least, they need to fire the current manager and hire another person like Vince who identifies with the clientele and cares about providing them with the best facility and service possible. read more

It's impossible to work out here. All the clients just sit on machines on their phones. You can even work through these sedentary gym people. They are too territorial. If you do ask people sling racial slurs at you that are incorrect. It's a good place if you want to get out of your apt and hang out on your phone, don't have access to shower or want to rough house with your friends Not a good place to go and work out. The gym is terrible. I go at night between 8-10 pm and feel like the AC is never on so the top floor just absolutely stinks due to the poor air circulation. The treadmills are a lawsuit waiting to happen as some of them are so over used that you can feel the grip being lost and can potentially slip while running. There should also be employee's circling cleaning up the gym because the people that go here have absolutely no gym etiquette. I used to go to the gym at 2 am and then go to work after now it seems like I'm just paying and not getting a chance to go to the gym. This gym is my go to. I love coming here. I'm sad to see so many bad reviews because for $10 a month I don't see what the problem is. I come here five times a week that's literally fifty cents just reach my fitness goal and be healthy. One month of a gym membership to help you stay fit is cheaper than one McDonald's meal that aids to health problems. During lock down this was the only thing keeping my mental health from slipping away and If this gym wasn't on the parkway I would be miserable and so would a lot of people. If everyone that signed up, wash they a** before coming or washed up in the clean and never used showers they provide, didn't talk loudly on the phone while on the treadmill and actually wiped down equipment after using --It would literally have 5 stars. So I have been trying other Planet Fitness gyms in the area to see which one is perfect and this one isn't. 3 floors is the gym, the top floor is most of the equipment and 1 is the check-in area and the basement is the locker rooms and also the stretching area. This gym is way too small for a gym, and the staff isn't nearly around to help out in the gym. In the locker room, most lockers are broken with doors off and the shower was missing soap. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY GYM?!?! I used to love coming to workout here, that is until about two weeks ago when the summer pass program started. I feel like Planet Fitness has slapped its paying members in the face with this program! It has been unbearable trying to workout here, no matter what time of day I try to come workout, this gym is full of teenagers who are just hanging out everywhere! Today was the last straw, after I finally found a barbell that was left in a corner, three teenage boys proceeded to cat call, whistle, and attempted to take photos of me while squatting! I've never felt self conscious at this gym before until now! Planet Fitness, please do something! Horrible! I signed up in December, and out of nowhere they are charging me $25 (this month and last month). I just noticed and called and they told me that the checking account was wrong. So you are telling me that your associate inserted the wrong information and I'm paying for it? They said they tried to call me in January to alert me about it, and since they couldn't get in contact with me they have been charging my debit card (same account) with a late fee. I spoke to Chris whom stated is the manager of the area and he said he could only give me one refund and not for both late fee charges because they tried to get in contact with me. I'm fuming. Your associate messed up and I'm being charged for it?!? And a feeble attempt at calling me equates to that being enough for you guys to charge me a late fee twice?!? He's like oh we charged your debit card since your checking account was inaccurate and charged you a late fee because of it. Incompetent staff and management (clearly). I have been using this PF since it opened back in 2011 out of convenience because its close to home. I would say overall I am pleased with this gym and appreciate that they got some new equipment. Some staff members are friendlier than others. Another bonus is as a female I feel comfortable going to this gym and no one bothering me which can happen in some gyms. Now since the reopening after the pandemic there have been some challenges e.g. waiting in line for a while because of limited number people inside, however it has been frustrating to see 5 people leave and 5 people not being allowed in to replace the 5 that just left. I have waited outside even for 30 minutes. Now it seems this has resolved and if 1 person leaves 1 is allowed in, which is the fair thing to do. The locker and spacing of the equipment with social distancing is a bit frustrating as well because there is a very small number of lockers avaible. I think they can allow for a few more locker options. I think people have enough sense that if someone is at the locker they can wait and then open theirs to remain distant. In terms of the equipment there are some machines that one have two and is frustrating when one cannot be used because of spacing. This could be resolved by rearrange some machines so that they are distant but can still be used. Lastly there are some machine and paper towel compartments that need to be repaire. During busy hours it has been common to find the papertowel areas empty and the spray bottles as well. read more

For $10 it's not a bad deal. If you go during off peak times getting a workout done is easy and there are no waits for any machines (cardio or weight) or free weights. However, the problem lies with weights not being put back where they belong by members and then the staff not doing it either. This leads to dumbbells and curling bars being left all over the gym for long periods of time until you go around getting what you need. Very inconvenient for someone trying to get in and get out but having to waste time hunting for weights. Unfortunately, a lot of the members don't understand gym etiquette so they use something and just leave it wherever they want. On a side note, the cardio machines were recently replaced. However, it seems like they cheaped out because the new ones seem to actually be less advanced than the old ones. They don't give as much information and also don't work well. For example I was using a treadmill and set the timer for 60 mins. After 54 mins it turned off... Additionally, there's no cool down period at the end of the time. So, during and intense run you go from a high heart rate to a dead stop. Long story short (too late for that)... You get what you pay for. read more

This place has been open for a few years and so far the only real complaint I have is how HOT this place gets from April -October. Seriously been dizzy from the exhaustion during a work out a handful of times. Pros: Cheap monthly rates. Large floor. Machines are rarely down. Depending on the time you can work out in peace. 5 days a week it's 24 hours. Tanning booths will spray you orange if that's your thing. 2 massage chairs for black card members. Cons: Hot as hell. If you are sweating in the locker room BEFORE you start, you know its going to be trouble. Staff has a bad habit of cleaning treadmills AS YOU ARE USING THEM. Free pizza night/bagel day is a cluster-f. And some patrons are pigs with food disposal. Music is awful. Bring your headphones! Also: You may be hit on by creepy men and there are no Staff to shoo them off. Again, bring your headphones. A 'bare bones' gym. No frills & NO AIR CONDITIONING. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL THE MGMT. FINALLY A GYM BY MY HOUSE!! I've been waiting for this place to open for a few months now. It finally opened on 12.17.11 and I've gone a few times to work out. So far I'm liking it. The top floor is massive, much bigger than it looks from the outside. I LOOOVE the abundance of cardio machines ... and they all have ipod chargers! Upstairs has all the necessary machines. First floor is the entrance and tanning. Downstairs you will find the locker rooms, red light therapy, 30 minute express workout, and 12 minute abs workout. So far everything is clean. The locker room has a lot of lockers and nice big showers. The staff could definitely be more friendly - but what do you expect from a bunch of young boys? However, I'm not excited for the flock of "New Years' Resolution" members. Get out of my way!! read more

Get in here while it's still relatively new, people! The lockers are already starting to be a bit bent up! Good gym with all the basics. Tons of cardio and a good line of weight machines and free weights. Downstairs, you have a whole rotation system where you work out on one machine until a light comes on, then everyone moves one machine over. Great concept, but annoying when people totally don't follow the rules. There are also more weight machines downstairs (including a bench press, *ahem, Lev L.*). I usually just stick upstairs, it's got everything I need. Also, the TVs are great. They usually have at least a couple Spanish channels on, so I can get my telenovelas while I sweat. Main floor has some weird infrared therapy thing that I never tried. You need the pricier membership to get it. They also have a small selection of drinks for sale, which is nice if you forget your water and don't feel like spending less at the bodega. Signs inside say that they have a pizza party on Wednesdays. HEALTHY! I really do love it here though. I love the hours, I love that there are upstairs lockers that stay on camera in case you have valuables, and I LOVE the price! The crowd is actually very good. Not a lot of gym rats or obnoxious people. I did do one of their (free!) training sessions, but was not impressed. The guy basically talked about himself for an hour, and rattled on about some dubious nutrition and workout "rules." We only got about 5 minutes of the actual machines! Overall, having a gym in this neighborhood is a huge boon! If you live around here, you probably don't exactly have the space for gym equipment, and maybe you're not down for late-night jogging. But Planet Fitness is brightly lit, clean, well-run, and fun. read more

For $10 a month you really can't go wrong. Although I agree with others, *some* staff members are less helpful than others - I find most of the staff to be polite. I like that this place is 24 hours during the week. My only complaint is that I wish their Saturday and Sunday hours were longer. Don't come here immediately after work hours. I find from 5pm to 8:30/9pm is not only crowded but is when you have the gaggle of guys who want to show off to each other and noisily work out (what was that about no lunkers PF?!) and the women who sit at weight machines for 15 minutes with their girlfriends and barely use them. Maybe they're looking for a date - I don't know - but it's irritating! Normally I go either in early afternoon (11AM - 3PM) or late night (10PM - 1AM) so I can get in and out without waiting for machines. Convenient location that's close to the train. I have been going here for years and also have a membership of xsport fitness and this gym is falling from grace. The machines aren't serviced regularly and are broken frequently. I go the the gym at different times of the day so the crowd doesn't bother me but I just want to get in , get focused and get the workout in . I Called to Cancel my membership and was told the only way to cancel the membership is to come into the gym and fill out a cancellation form .After doing that I was still being charged. When I called the gym they told me that my membership was never cancelled and I will have to come back into the gym with the cancellation form that I filled out two months ago . This gym is pretty pathetic, it seems to be all cardio for the local fat and skinny people who don't know how to work out. They have a very very large selection of some of the best cardio equipment i have seen at a gym, with large open windows for sunlight and a distraction while you sweat off the mc'ds you just ate. The Assisted weight equipment is a joke, no bench press, no squat racks, they have free weight but its all rubberized, this place is terrible for strength training. I haven't been downstairs so i'm not sure about the locker room or the abs areas. I'm very surprised about this location because i've seen a couple of planet fitness gyms and they looked like normal gyms with a wide selection of strengthen and cardio equipment, not the rubberized tiny assisted equipment they have here. Tried to cancel my membership and the manager by the name of Vincent was extremely rude and refused to provide the customer service necessary needed in running a business. I'm not much for reviews but I was taken back by the way he interacted with me. 5 days ago I went to this planet fitness to pay a balance due on my account. After paying everything I was told that everything was clear and I was going to keep paying normal every month. Today 2/19/18, I go early at 8am for a workout and I get stopped at the front desk for a balance due on my account (wtf). So I explain that I have already pay and I was told that everything was clear. Now I have this manager telling me that I have to pay for something that they forgot to charge me for, and that in order for me to workout at this location I need to start a new membership ( is clear there is no communication among the staff and the nee hires don't have the proper training) so now she starts asking me for bank account info, I.D and credit or debit card. My point is that there is a lack of unprofessionalism and the staff should be train properly and managers should supervise the staff when it comes to money transactions. Now I wonder if every time I go to this place I am going to be charge for more things that they forgot to charge me for. At this point i should be compensated for mistakes they did and for the extremely lack of unprofessionalism at this Planet Fitness. I recommend evaluations on every staff member in order to provide every member that pays for a good service, clean gym and good equipment for a good workout. read more

This gym is horrible. Equipments are broken and the employees don't know anything. If you ask for help they tell you that nobody is there to help you. These employees need to be trained and they need to know what they are doing. This gym needs alot of improvement. Fire alarm was going off and nobody knows how to fixed this. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE GHETTO BRONX BUM ! No rating for bum service. Spoke to fake Manager Vincent who cursed out and disrespected a disabled client who was recommended to do a little exercise and that planet fitness was a good place to start, because he was not informed of planet fitness taking charges from two credit cards. When he told him that he was not informed and that he is on a fixed income and can not afford this bogus $37 dollar charge they have taken out several times out of both cards when the charges were supposed to be $10/month the rep said "Well if you cant afford it too bad, you signed the contract and we will go into your account whenever we feel like it and if you want to cancel you will have to dish out another $58 dollars."
