This particular location is conveniently close to my home. The guests there are very nice despite my size and inexperience. The staff are also very helpful in ensuring folks are staying safe while working out. The layout of the machines is very simple so you know exactly where what machine you want is and everyone I saw wiped their area down after each use. The men's locker room was very clean and didn't stink like I've experienced at other locations. Finally the VIP lounge for black card members was very therapeutic after a hard workout. read more

About a month ago my best friend and I decided to end our membership at the YMCA in CR - that place is garbage. So that left us on the hunt for a new gym. We researched a couple places online, Planet Fitness being one of them. We stopped in one evening (during what seemed like their busiest time), and one of the guys working instantly offered to show us around and help us sign up if we wanted. He was super helpful! We got the black card membership, which ends up being less than what we paid at the YMCA, and includes things at PF like tanning & massage chairs. We were always intimidated by the atmosphere at the Y so we never used much equipment. At PF we instantly felt comfortable enough to go try out the machines. They're nice, clean, and no one is judging you. The staff is always super friendly when we go there too. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it would be nice to have things like a sauna. But overall, we are super happy with our gym switch. read more

What can I say? I'm one of those millions of Americans that hate working out. I'm working on it though, and Planet Fitness is helping me tremendously! From the moment I received a tour, I knew that I was in the right place. PF has a wonderful and helpful staff, clean facility and all of the amenities that anyone would need that isn't looking to become a professional body builder. I never feel rushed or packed in and every time I've had a question, it has been answered happily by the staff that are scattered throughout the gym floor and manning the front counter. The black card membership was absolutely the way to go too! I get the aqua massage regularly, enjoy the massage chair with its calf squishes and plan on utilizing the tanning beds a little closer to spring. My 4 stars come from the parking situation. The parking lot can be confusing and get rather full. I also don't love that paper towels are used to clean the machines as opposed to more Eco-friendly rags. Other than that, I love this place and I plan on being a happy gym goer for a very long time! read more

Daytime managers are absolutely bitter people. I've had comments made to me that I don't need to be tanning and some of the clothing I wear to this gym. Unacceptable behavior and I think there needs to be training classes on appropriate social interactions with people. read more

Never before have I been treated so disrespectfully that I have been inspired to write a negative review on Yelp. Aaron of Planet Fitness at this location is by far the nastiest person I have ever met in any fitness establishment. I was working out today with my girlfriend when Aaron started harassing my girlfriend about taking a picture for her profile. It wasn't a big deal at first, but he was so rude about it that she ended up responding in a review in one of the surveys they ask for. A few minutes later he interrupted our workout and started calling her a liar, got in her face and started saying she had disrespected him. When she tried to explain the circumstances and started crying due to the stress and things he was saying, Aaron laughed, then said he would be cancelling her membership. Aaron walked away with a smile on his face. He seemed to really enjoy being unreasonable with customers and said that he loves his job. We will not be returning to Planet Fitness. I cannot speak for other locations, but in the future we will going to Anytime Fitness where we have only been treated well by the staff. read more

In the last few months the Lindale gym has gone down hill. The place is dirty. There is dirt on the floor and pieces of toilet paper on the floor. Now there is no toilet paper in the stalls. The paper towel machines on the floor don't work or are empty. Now there are towels but who wants to use wet towels to wipe off machines? There are employees who sit at the desk on their phones or leave to get food or coffee. I cannot recommend this gym at this time. read more

No one at front desk and no bell or method of letting them know you're standing around waiting for them. Webpage says open 24 hrs a day Mon thru Friday but after I tanned I was told they close in 12 minutes. No sign in door with this info no prior knowledge of the closing time being 9pm and not midnight as the website reports. 24 hrs on Friday would mean till midnight not 9pm, right or right? I'm told new bulbs in bed do can only tan max of 6 minutes. I asked for a few extra minutes to prepare. Once prepared I attempted to turn on the bed but the moron at the front desk didn't turn the bed on at all so I had to dress and again he isn't eat desk and there's no way to get his attention or know where he is hiding? I opened the front door and after few minutes he arrived. Told him what happened he looked confused. I went back to tan only after tanning did I realize he set the time for 12 minutes not 6 ( the max allowed ). It's only been less than 90 minutes and my lower back is tingling like it might be sunburnt and I NEVER burn! Never!!!! But then before his incident I never go double the maximum allowed time! Wouldn't make you happy would it? I called the club to see if I could get my wallet back? No answer and no voicemail on phone. Does no voicemail seem professional to you? It doesn't to me in 2018 maybe in 1919 but not 2018, right or right? Yes, my wallet with ID and lots of cash are there but my appreciation is not. Before I left I moaned in shower room, "Irs sure gone to hell." The above mentioned moron ( ooops I mean staff member on duty ) asks " What's gone to hell?" I replied, " This club. It used to be open 24/7 now it's not even open 24/7 on the days it's web pages says it's ooen 24/7." Staff member says..... nothing. I realize he doesn't set the hours but really double exposure time in the tanning bed? I don't know if it was due to ignorance or malice but my back is burning and it's due to either the staff's incompetence or malice cuz he was angry that I didn't look happy and said you never put time in the bed. He asked which bed? Really I thought? Really? But I was nice I said bed two. Then I got burned! I hope I get my wallet back and if I ever workout here again it will be because I have no choice to go elsewhere and if I do I pray they have better, more competent and professional, courteous staff to serve me and the other patient f members of Planet Fitness. My lower back is feeling more and more burned and hot as I wrote this review. Very sad experience, very poor service in my humble opinion. Wouldn't you agree? Planet fitness is clean and the equipment is clean and works well. The staff is friendly and you can't beat the price. However, my rating would be higher if their mask policy wasn't so ass backwards. Here's why. Asking people to wear a mask to come in to the facility, yet allowing them to take it off on the equipment. So people are huffing and puffing while on the treadmill, which is the best way to spread the virus, cold, whatever. And put their mask back on and move to another piece of equipment. Makes no sense! It's like wearing a condom before having sex, taking it off to have sex and then putting it back on after sex. Does that make sense? Their statement on the door clearly states masks are to be worn at ALL times, yet planet fitness does not enforce it, so why bother if they don't really care about the health of their customers? read more

Laid in tanning bed waiting and waiting for bed to start, called the store from the bed 3x and no answer. Got up and dressed and had to go out to tell them to start the bed. This is after a line has formed and people waiting for worker to come out of bathroom after at least 10 minutes. Very poor service. Isn't first time I've had to call store to turn on bed from the tanning bed. read more

The staff is always pretty friendly. The gym is always clean, great for your money, perfect if you're just looking for basic equipment. Not the best place if you're looking for more advanced workouts, equipment or lifting. Do wish they were 24/7 though. read more

I have a horrible story. I had called several clubs to ask about summer pricing for college students. My daughter needed a membership for about 10 weeks. I spoke with the club manager and asked specifically about the annual $40 club fee which is assessed in July to all members. She assured me my daughter wouldn't be charged the annual fee with her membership. In mid June my DD saw charges higher than expected drawn from her checking account. When we asked Planet Fitness to explain the guy who signed her up told us he accidentally put her into the higher priced membership. Oops! There was nothing we could do since she signed the agreement and he couldn't give refunds not worth fighting. She was also going to charged the annual $40 fee in July that we were told specifically she wouldn't be charged. Per him the only way we could avoid that was to cancel the membership which I did right then. Of course they accidentally charged it anyway. When I met with the manager on July 23rd to go over all this she was wonderful and apologetic. Couldn't believe this happened and that we were told to cancel the membership! Of course my daughter would be refunded right away by paper check within 7 days and was welcome to continue using the gym until she left for school in early August. 2 weeks later there was no check. DD was leaving for school. I followed up by email. Manager apologized and said she'd look into it. 3 days later no response. A few emails and another 10 days finally a response; she'll look into it and get right back to me. Again, several days later still no response. Finally I get her on the phone. For some reason she she felt the need to tell me the guy who signed my daughter up was no longer with the company. Now it's over a month later. We've gone through a series of emails mostly on my part and phone calls. She's neglected to respond within even days of when she said she would. Apparently the previously dismissed employee still answers the phone though. She told us she sent my DD an email with "tracking #s" for the check because she didn't have my email address (what?)but she'd send me a copy. We of course never received these emails. I email again, then call for that tracking # and for further instruction about what I need to do as we have 60 days to file a dispute at the bank if need be. Finally she responds by email to say they've been having internet issues that's why I didn't get the emails she sent with tracking #'s but she doesn't give me the tracking #! Also why she couldn't call me back I guess although the phone works fine! She'll look into it and get back to me later that day. I haven't heard from her since. So my husband went to see her at the club today to insist on a resolution. . He said he didn't want to have to return tomorrow or the day after and that this has gone on far too long. He was told she'd contact her boss to have her call us but that she couldn't today because said boss was in a particular location. He left after being told this person would contact him. Of course he called that location but was told that person was not there nor had she been expected to be there. Instead of getting that phone call from boss lady a deputy sheriff CAME TO OUR HOUSE! She called the police to say he TRESPASSED! And HARASSED! No threats other than say to he didn't want to have to come back. No elevated voices, no bad language . Fortunately the officer was able to see who the reasonable person was. He apologized and went above and beyond to obtain the information we needed from from Planet Fitness and could ensure that a refund apparently is forthcoming. Yikes! I can hardly imagine a worse customer service experience! I would rather they would have told me they wouldn't refund it right away. Then I would have pursued a dispute through the bank and would be done with them. I hope this is over. The fee isn't huge but man don't rip off a poor college kid! read more

I seen the ad stating "No Commitment" but when I went there they want a bunch of personal information, and draft access to several financials, instead of just letting you come there and swipe monthly to buy the next month. You have to show up there to use the facilities so why all the locking in your accounts? Sounds like too much commitment to me. read more

I called the Edgewood Rd Sw Cedar Rapids branch and the staff member told me that I had to come in person or write a letter to cancel. I couldn't do either because I had covid and was in quarantine. She still instigated I come in with covid to cancel. This was in January. I called the corporate number in January and the lady I spoke to said she would take care of my cancellation since I had covid and couldn't write a letter because I couldn't get a stamp or come in person because I was quarantined. I recently discovered that my membership was not canceled. I went in to the Edgewood Rd SW Cedar Rapids, IA center today and explained my situation. They were very rude and unempathetic. I asked for their names and none of them would give me their names. They all had attitudes. I canceled my membership while I was there but they said I couldn't get a refund. They said the manager is not in until Monday. There is never a manager to speak to when I call even back in January. My membership was supposed to have been canceled in January. I should get a refund from February until now. My Planet Fitness customer service experience has been awful so far! read more

Ever since joining Planet Fitness, I have had a wonderful experience. The front desk staff is so welcoming, the fitness trainer is very knowledge and leads fantastic classes and the managers are more than happy to help answer any questions asked. However, a couple weeks ago my friend and I were working out down by the free weight area when all of a sudden a tall, bald, African American male with an Australian accent started slamming weights and saying disrespectful comments to all the gym users that surrounded him. We then observed the employees approach him to ask what the problem was, and asked him politely to stop. A couple days later, he was right back to yelling and making racial comments in the 30 minute circuit room where the older ladies were working out. Management finally intervened and basically just slapped him on the hand for being so incredibly rude. That male still works out every day, at the same time as my friend and I. We can truly say, we are uncomfortable to work out in this gym and are planning to cancel our memberships due to the reoccurring issue. The sole reason for signing up in the first place was due to the judgement free zone and non intimidating environment. Why make this your motto if you aren't planning on enforcing? read more
