Yesterday morning, I arrived at Planet Fitness around 7:00 AM, scanned my app just like I have done for years, completed my workout, and then went to use the massage chair as I normally do. When I asked for a chair, I was told I could not use it because I did not have a profile picture and supposedly was not part of the Black Card membership. This was extremely confusing because my app clearly shows my name, our membership, and we have been Black Card members since 2017 without ever having this issue. Many of the employees know me personally because I am there several mornings every week. I asked to speak with a manager but was told one was not available. I was so upset that I left before I said something I would regret. My husband later spoke with management and was told the issue could only be fixed by adding me to the account and paying for an additional membership. What hurts the most is how I was treated. After nearly a decade of being a loyal member, I felt singled out, embarrassed, and disrespected. As I stood there, I could not help but notice that four other people entered at the same time, and only one person's phone was scanned, yet they were not questioned the way I was. Whether intentional or not, the experience left me feeling racially profiled and deeply hurt. I have worked hard on my personal growth and emotional health, and I am proud that I chose to walk away instead of reacting in anger. Having visited many locations of Planet Fitness it was shocking to visit this location. There is a definite lack of cleanliness (filthy) and equipment in need of repairs and replacement. Definitely far from the expected standard to share the Planet Fitness name. I spoke with a manager, said it would be addressed. Visited for a few years, nothing changed. read more

This is hands down the best gym I've ever been to. Staff is great, equipment is so clean, bathrooms are clean. The free weights are awesome. After my workout I used the massage chairs and it was so relaxing. This is my favorite gym. With every gym I go to the bathroom is usually not clean. I did not have that problem at this planet fitness. Cleanliness and organization are a top priority for them. The black card membership is awesome and affordable. After a busy evening of walking around Chattanooga, it was time for a shower (and a workout). This evening's 8pm visit to Planet Fitness was not great. Yes, the workout equipment was fine. I did a quick trip around the circuit just to loosen some of the muscles that I hadn't used today and then hit the shower. The locker room was not great. Trash on the floor and an overflowing trash can. I'm not sure how the staff couldn't see this but I'm including the photo evidence. The shower did not have enough hot water, turning to just warm after a few minutes. I know corporate will reach out with a comment below that I should tell the staff what's up, but I'm not here at PF to point that out. The financial policies of this company appear to be designed to tax your wallet. Exorbitant late fees coupled with a lack of compassion. When the bathrooms are working and the towel cases are full it's a good day. Good days are less frequent with this firm. I'm a black card member. I do travel often and have been to many locations. This particular PF has the smallest most cramped free weight section but has plenty of cardio machine.I did have to wait for a bench to free up to knock out my shoulder presses. Not that big of a deal due to limited benches and space. However this location setup is one of the worst. I did not want to be on top of anyone like other folks however I could not really go anywhere to do barbell raises either without being on top of someone else. If you know gym etiquette then you know. From what I did observe this is also something folks at this gym don't know or do. Nor do they wipe down the equipment after using. I absolutely hated working out here. I am here for work. So tomorrow I will try my luck at another location. read more

This is not a judgment free zone! I've been working out there for four years and all it was great, the beginning of 2022 and 2023. I have been absolutely judged by random members some have nasty attitude and some called me out for being flat. I'm happy I prove have them wrong and put on 50 pounds of muscle, but I'm still getting a lot of uncomfortable comments. This gym kept me unmotivated due to the people, the restrooms, and the lazy rude employees especially this location. I remember one employee says I was out of shape. How is people at crunch fitness more nice than me and help me motivate it while a "Judgment freezone gym" are unproductive. I'm even tired seeing high school kids who wear wife beater pajama pants who spent two hours on a smith machine and I can't ask him to get off. Or a 50 year-old dude doing a handstand and asking me do you want to buy marijuana? Whoever is reading this comment I wouldn't recommend working out at this gym with toxicity. I hope planet fitness does better, especially during the whole transgender controversy. also, this gym has so much pedophiles! read more

I have been a member for about a year. The gym that I went to in Fort Oglethorpe was not the cleanest place and the shower never worked. I let that slide because they have all the basic equipment needed and it is inexpensive. I needed to temporarily cancel my account due to health issues but quickly found out that you can't do it online. You can join online but not cancel. First it's inconvenient and second the only reason to have this set up is that they hope you won't go to the trouble of going in and they can still collect their fees. That's the last straw. It's straight up sleazy business practices. My temporary suspension of my membership is now a permanent one and I will spread the word via social media as a warning for others. read more

Not the staffs fault they've all been pretty friendly. Travel for work so I've been to well over 50 planets. This one is at the bottom of the list. Don't enforce dropping weights. No gym etiquette by guests. Dumbbell area is tiny. Always fighting for position machines etc at this gym. What got me was apparently there is a rule that some locations enforce where if you're not a member to that franchise you can only go 10x that month. So if you're traveling for work you can only work out 10x a month? What's the point of getting the black card? First location I've been to that enforces this. As I typically go everyday. Would've been nice to know before I scanned my code multiple times a day for chairs. If you're in Chattanooga area I'd find another planet. I'll update this with what location to go to read more

Over crowded, dirty, and hot! Lack of equipment! No high row or low row. No incline or leverage chest press. No v crunch. Good luck using equipment people will use a machine/area for 30 plus minutes. Yet to see a trainer walking around! How come it looks like all the treadmills are scattered. Most planets they're uniform. Everyone grunting and dropping weights. Place is a joke for planet fitness standards. Bathrooms are dirty. Scale in bathroom doesn't work just an eye sore. Why is it so hot here??? Why so many machines broke? Why so many wet floor signs?? Alright, weeeeell...I'm going to give them 2 stars for now. We just moved to Chattanooga from Nashville, and I'm quickly learning that our Planet Fitness there (which was triple the size, had brand new equipment, and a slew of amenities) was the exception, not the rule. Bluhhhh. The first time I came here a few weeks ago, I noticed how worn and uneven/loose their treadmill belts looked. Didn't think much of it, until 3 miles into my run, the belt literally folded over on itself and almost came off the treadmill. Uhhh...see photo. So, ever since that first day, I've tried to find the one or two treadmills they have that look slightly newer/less worn in the belt department. There are only two of them that I've found, but I've managed to snag them each time, and luckily, they haven't caused me to almost break my ankle. However...this is kind of a big issue, especially for runners like me. They need to get the belts replaced, or just get the newer treadmills that our Nashville club had. Even the Hixson location seems to have more updated equipment. So, why 2 stars? It's clean, the employees have been friendly, and I haven't had any further issues with those two treadmills that I can actually use. If they can get ALL of their treadmills fixed, I'll bump up their score. read more

I have been to a few different locations and the people at this location were top notch. I met a female employee in the bathroom who said she had seen me there a few times and we got the chatting. It was probably my first time feeling like I had girl time in TN since we had just moved here. It meant more to me than she will prob ever know. The people at the front desk are great every time. Friendly and helpful. I hate to explain that the best came when I was cancelling because we moved out of the area, but they were unbelievably helpful on two different occasions. The first time I wasn't able to cancel my membership but the manager guy explained step by step how to cancel, what dates to do what and probably saved me $100 in fees. When I went back to cancel, they told me the corona membership pause was creating issues with the whole timeline to cancel they went out of their way to help me out. In joining I was nervous because I didn't want to get stuck with a membership I wasn't going to use. I would not worry about that with these great folks. They were more than helpful and get my greatest thanks. read more

Once again, disappointment. On the treadmills closest to the men's restroom, there was gum inside the lip that holds your phone on 3 of them. I told the workers and they attempted to clean it up but the next day, someone put more in there. I managed to stick my iPad in gum 2 days in a row. Disgusting. The workers said it must be a member that comes in late at night when the first shift workers are not on staff. read more

I travel a lot and see a wide variety of PFits around the country. This one was relatively clean and had a nice remodel. The staff was friendly when we walked in. There was a shortage of carabiners for the cable machines so we couldn't use the cables like we wanted to, maybe 3 or 4 between all the cables. The social distancing signs seemed to have fallen on the floor throughout the gym and weren't picked up or properly attached to the machines. All that I can get past and still have a good experience at the gym. This was, however, possibly the most annoying gym experience I've ever had due to whoever was controlling the music (pretty sure it was the blonde girl at the desk) changing every other song half way through the track to the point where I was getting musical Tourette's just listening to it. She clearly only likes mid-tempo country music so any time an upbeat rock or pop song with a good groove would come on it would quickly be skipped to the next song. We were working out underneath a speaker so this was extremely annoying like being on a road trip with that friend that can't ever let a song finish. C'mon, we all know ThAt friend, and no one likes it... Anyway, this isn't your personal playlist and the music isn't for Your entertainment, just let it play!! read more

I have a PF Black Card due to traveling around a lot and I am generally in Chattanooga for months at a time. At first I thought it was normal for some of the equipment to be out of order for a couple weeks, but after seeing how other PFs operate I can say this is one of the poorly ran ones. Some of the equipment has been out of service for months in addition to them being old/outdated whereas other clubs have issues resolved within the week and have even renovated over the years. The upside is that it isn't too busy and it's a spacious gym but that's about it. read more

Facility isn't very clean, Equipment isn't maintained, I have never seen any personal trainer in the 8 months ive been going, paper towels are always out or the towel dispensers doesn't work. Very crowded in the mornings and early afternoon always waiting on equipment. Also seems to be alot of snow flakes that go this type of gym, they seem to have a problem with someone wanting to get a good workout in. And then there is the staff, or lack there of. Reasonable price, friendly staff, spacious interior, and easy parking. However, equipment and facilities both are old and the club is totally UNCOMMITEED to fixing them. Some equipment have been out of order for months. Last year the bathroom was shutdown for over a week due to plumbing issue. The hot water heater is broken every year and the outage is always over a week. Now women are in week 2 of cold shower. The staff keeps apologizing graciously. But they have no target date of resolution because the management is not committed to it. read more

Love this PF. I travel with work and this is one of my favorites by far. It's never too crowded, it's clean, and has plenty of cardio machines. There are 2 sets of every dumbbells and of course they have kettleballs. There are 3-4 Smith machines. There's rarely a wait for a machine. Personally, I love the whole get up that planet fitness has going on. I absolutely love love love that they are open 24/7 - that's a deal breaker for me as a night shift nurse who stays on that night shift time even on my days off. I've been here anywhere from 1am to 3am to 3pm.. every time I work out no matter the time of day there is always someone cleaning the machines. Between the staff and everyone else wiping the machines before & after their workouts I think its safe to say they're pretty clean -and in good shape on top of that. I haven't seen any frayed seats or machines coming apart. I actually really like the vast amount of treadmills and workout machines. I've never had an issue not being able to use a certain machine or treadmill because "there just aren't enough". Everyone has been pretty friendly so far - especially the staff. They always have big genuine smiles on their faces when I come and go, and they are always up for answering any questions I have. I like that even at night there are more than one of the employees present to run the show, so they never are short staffed. I do sometimes wish that planet fitness would invest in a pool and steam room and sauna like some of these other places, but the unlimited tanning, clean showers, nice locker rooms, and free classes make up for it. There are so many options, and honestly I would only use the pool once or twice anyway. Would definately recommend planet fitness. And I say just pay the extra 10 dollars for a black card. It's nice to have access to all they have to offer and be able to bring someone to planet fitness for free. read more

Rude and Unprofessional staff. Messy locker rooms. Constantly broken equipment and the staff refuse to do anything. Go to Hixson or Cleveland... both are SO MUCH BETTER than this location. Koty the night shift "manager" is totally useless. Needs to be fired. Half the staff needs to be fired or retrained... or TRAINED TO BEGIN WITH. You can't go to the front desk to ask for something without someone rolling their eyes and acting like you have incoveinanced them by asking them to do their job. There has not been Hot water in the showers at this location in more than 3 months. Management has removed the handles on 3 of 4 of the showers and put signs stating out of order. The handles were not broken but there just is not enough hot water to run 2 showers at once. Even now, your lucky to get one hot shower before hot water runs out. I have been to more that 20 planet fitness centers and have never seen this type of poor cheap management that is out of touch with a service they are paid to provide. Revoke this gym from the owners. They do not meet the high standard of a Planet Fitness proprietorship. read more

Glad I did the "try before I buy" option. What went wrong: At reception, the person at the counter, did not ask me anything about my fitness level, goals; or if I had any health concerns or physical restrictions, if I even knew how to use workout equipment. Without moving more than six inches around her station, she waived her hand in the direction of the treadmills, ellipticals and so forth positioned in the center of the room. "And, over there you'll find the free weights and the 30 minute circuit, as well as a circuit for abs with a red light timer you can use." And without further ado, this was her introduction to the workout room. I asked if someone would be available to discuss membership options at the end, and she affirmed that was something she would do. No employee or trainer was in the bullpen to demonstrate how to program any of the treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, or adjust any of the equipment. I guess we all are expected to be experienced, but as anyone can tell you, no two treadmill brands are alike in their programming. Over in the 30-minute circuit area, where you are supposed to take each machine in sequence, people were leaping around from machine to machine at random. If there was anyone in the area trying to actually use the circuit the way it was intended, they just had to wait until the ADHD member was finished. Pointing out the same exact machines are located in the bullpen where they could use at will, and not interrupt the circuit wouldn't have had any effect. Ditto for the 12-minute ab circuit. After finishing up on the treadmill cool down, I went to the desk where the most egregious aspect of the experience took place. Because I had not thought ahead to bring my own lock, I had to leave my personal items at the desk with counter person #1. When I approached the counter, counter person #2 asked what I needed, and I pointed to my purse and coat laying out in the open. Without asking for ID, or checking with the person who checked me in, he just handed everything to me, my purse, car keys. I was stunned. This is when counter person # 1 walked over and asked if I had questions. Yes, I said. I have many questions. Her response was not to ask, "how can I help you?" Her response was no response at all except to look bewildered. I wasn't expecting a red carpet for a $10.00/month facility, but isn't it the very essence of a promotion to attract new members? read more

Worked out at this location 6 months ago. I was going to be in the area so I tried this location instead of the Hixson club I normally use. Only 2 showers were working 6 months ago. I moved to a different job which is closer so went back today and still only 2 of 4 showers working. read more

I actually love this place! It's totally worth coming here to exercise. The staff are kind and courteous, the whole gym is clean, and it just feels great to be able to come in, exercise, and then go about my day. So great when the Planet Fitness away from home has all the equipment we need to get a workout in and to warm up for a tournament. What is even better is when staff does not give you a hard time because you are a regular in a different state. Check in was super easy, staff was super friendly and helpful and the place was clean. What more could you ask for. Actually one more thing: This was the first planet fitness in which the Wi-Fi password was not standard and so it didn't automatically pick up. Have been a member for about a year and finally decided to kick it up and start coming 5-6 nights a week. The facilities are great! The big extra for me at this location is the staff. I can only come in late after work and Ronald Ammons and Samantha Baker (I had to ask for last names for review purposes) make my experience exceptional. It really helps to be greeted and all my concerns and questions answered. You can tell they really put forth the extra effort to work and assist members. Now when I visit my children, grandkids and family in Kentucky......Go Cats! I can workout at the Planet Fitness there in Elizabethtown. The Planet Fitness on Lee Hwy. in Chattanooga, is a great place for a workout anytime! The people at the front desk are always friendly and courteous, the dressing rooms are always clean, neat and tidy. For the price, you cannot get a sweeter deal. Did you forget your water, power aid, protein shake? Well, Planet Fitness has your back. They have them readily available for purchase. They are cold, refreshing and sitting on go. Just twist the top off! Also, if you are a Black Card member, you can stop in for a tan. Or how about a massage. Yep! You need to try the Hydro bed!!!! It is amazing! Plus. I joined planet fitness about 2 weeks ago and love the gym and extras that they have, but I have a huge complaint about how frequently they close due to weather. This is the second time in less than a week and this time the snow is not predicted to start until 5pm and they chose to close at 2pm. My husband has a member ship at the golds gym down the road and when I just called them they said they would continue stay open, same as last week. If the nail salon across the street can stay open surely the gym can too. read more
