When I first started working out there it was great till they changed everything they took out the most important equipment I am losing definition of my muscle. I have lost 90 something pounds I go to work out every other couple days and I don't feel like I worked out. It is a shame what they did to that establishment. They need to put that stuff back my arms are soft. My chest is soft and my stomach is soft. I was using those machines and I was seen an improvement now that is gone. What a shame it became for the kids now it's a park. read more

Ok I left this gym around 4 years ago because of managers. and decided to give it another try. It's been 2 weeks here and I'm pretty impressed with the changes and the management so far. This used to be the Planet Fitness location I went to and although I can see why some people are complaining about it, I don't see a huge problem with it. I didn't have a Zip Fitness membership, so I have nothing to compare Planet against; I know that many people who came to this Planet location were Zip Fitness members so they were grandfathered into some of the perks/costs. The machines are very spread out here, except for the cardio area, so I can see why people say that they have room for a lot more weight machines. I agree that they have room for more. This location also has much older machines than newer Planet Fitness locations, and many machines here were worn down, so hopefully they have upgraded since then. The reason I came to Planet in the first place was because it's cheap and because I just wanted to tone my body. They had/have everything I personally need. For the times that I have been here, I never saw the "bro swole" culture, which is so nice because that was one major reason I didn't want to go to XSport or other gyms. I like that people do their own thing here without people watching you and judging. I mean I guess some people may still be doing that, but I never experienced that at this location. Compared to other locations, this location is much more dingy than some. The locker room is pretty big, but it's pretty gross in there and I feel they don't keep up with it. In general, the strip mall that this gym is part of is super disgusting, and businesses have left so often because they have a major plumbing problem down the strip ( I used to live behind the strip and my parents still live around here so I know from personal experience/observations). I stopped coming to this location a while ago, and have since changed to a much better location. I think it's pretty crazy that Planet charges their customers an annual fee but the customers going to worn-down older-looking locations like this one pay the same annual fee as those going to nicer, newer locations. Overall, this location was fine, but I'm so glad I don't go to this one anymore. I also find it super weird that all of the treadmills face the window because you feel you have no privacy. Many other locations have machines facing the opposite wall so you aren't just staring at people walking past the building. read more

Weird place. Absolutely no gym culture for the most part, everyone sorta just stares at each other. It's akward but it is what it is. Honestly want to leave every time i'm there, and I enjoy working out it's just that the people there kinda give me a weird feeling. Staff is nice and helpful. Locker rooms are clean enough, and i would say it's pretty clean overall. Working out here is fine, the machines are good enough and do the job. When the gym first opened I would have given it a 3 stars, lots of the equipment was old/ broken and the whole place needed some work. After the additional of a LOT of new machines and redo of the lockerrooms it definitely bumped up the aesthetics. The staff is A+! Never had a bad run in with anyone and they're always helpful when asked. Machine wise I would have liked to see more stair steppers and rowers and they are always full at peak hours but machines like the gliders are almost always empty. Maybe a possibility for the near future. The black card spa was redone as well and got much needed improvements. read more

Don't bother going unless you can deal with rude gym members and staff. I on the other hand rather spend my money and time where basic courtesy and rules are followed. There is no circuit 30 minute express workout as no one follows the posted rules and staff refuses to enforce. If one can use a machine labeled 30 min Express for as long as they like than the 30 min circuit workout is not feasible. Some staff (not all) are rude as are some of the members so I will go to the local CrossFit gym where circuit workouts can be followed. It only takes a couple losers to ruin the customer experience. read more

Oh Planet Fitness, I honestly don't know what to say about it. Planet Fitness, a place that calls themselves a "Judgment Free" zone, but yet has a "Lunk Alarm" if you are grunting too hard, and is known for approaching customers who don't have "decent" gym attire. I would rank Planet Fitness maybe two steps above a hotel gym. Depending on what you're looking for, that may not be a bad thing, as they have what you need to get an OK workout in. This planet fitness has plenty of cardio machines, from elliptical, to a couple of stairmasters, and plenty of treadmills. There are several rows of TVs for your distraction pleasure. As for the gym area, they have a designated "ab" area, a "circuit" area, and the main gym area, which consists mostly of machines. Dumbbells don't even go to 100lb and if you're looking for a bench press, the best they got are Smith Machines, so you may just want to do dumbbell chest press on the dumbbell area. They have several curling barbells, but the weight is less than 75lbs. There are plenty of sanitation stations to wipe down the machines before/after you use them and the overall place was pretty clean and usable. I came here for a push day, and struggled to find exercises. I ended up doing lat pulldowns, lat row, and reverse pec deck. All the benches were in use so I couldn't do any dumbbell rows, and the one pullup bar was in use. There were a couple of lat pulldown machines, but I wasn't a fan of the machines, and doing bentover dumbbell rows on a Smith Machine is not my thing. To be honest, my insurance allows me to join several gyms, so I got a membership at LA Fitness, Crunch, Xsport, and Planet Fitness for the convenience of hitting a gym when and where I can. The reason I'm giving this place 3-stars, as I do see it as "A-OK" To summarize, if you're looking for a no-frills place that is a couple of steps up from a hotel gym, Planet Fitness can't be beat. The price is super cheap per month. But if you're looking to increase your workouts and exercises, you may want to check out other gyms. But, here's my biggest peeve: When I left the gym on Tuesday, apparently it was pizza night, as there were around 30 or so pizza boxes at the lobby and patrons were lounging in the lobby area, munching their hard-earned pizza and watching TV. Don't forget to grab some tootsie rolls from the bucket for dessert on your way out. BATHROOM REVIEW: Reviewing the locker room, it was decently clean. The worst experience ever. Don't even think enrolling here. 1. They don't protect the physical integrity of their members. I got punched by a random member because he thought I grabbed his phone, which I did not. I talked to the manager and they did nothing, not even kicked the guy out of the gym. They let him stay, and the guy kept threatening me. I had to call the cops. 2. I tried to cancel my membership, but I could not, so now I have to send a Mail letter by USPS Office to my home club which is in Maryland (I'm in Chicago) to see if they can cancel my membership. In the meantime they keep charging me. 3. The staff in front desk have not idea about anything in the gym, not even the solar room, or the extra "amenities" they offer as a black card member. I joined 2 weeks ago and have gone daily. Every evening every single machine is being occupied most with people scrolling on their phone for 10min+ so i figure okay let me go to the 30min express. Nope not at all same tune people hanging out chatting while sitting on the machines and not moving. I thought you were supposed to run thru the whole course in 30 minutes not each machine for 30+ min. Even the steppers have people sitting. April! (The person... not the month) So this place was great before. Always clean, great staff. Great atmosphere. They used to do pizza... always seemed counter-intuitive... maybe reverse psychology... but anyway. So April is the personal training lunatic/icing on the cake. She has a bunch of different programs and classes. I personally have had my behind kicked several times by her, and once the pain wears off and blood returns to my head I feel great. I used to love this gym until last week. Last Thursday my lock on my locker was cut and my wallet stolen. Since then, Planet Fitness has done NOTHING to make me feel better about them. When I reported the theft to the general manager (Adriane Gil Ramos) the first words out of his mouth were, "we're not responsible. Go fill out a police report and bring it back so we can have a copy'. No, "I'm sorry" no nothing. I then requested that the district manager (Melvin Vega) contact me to discuss the situation since they would not give me his contact info they said they would have him call me. I waited 3 days, no call. So, I asked again and they said they would reach out to him again. Four more days later, NO CALL. So, I contacted Planet Fitness via their app (contact us link). All I got was a firm email that stated that they would forward my concerns to the club management because all clubs are independently owned and operated. I would just like someone to show some compassion for us members and all I get is crickets. If you want a nice clean gym, this is it. But if you want any of your belongings to be safe, DO NOT USE THE LOCKER ROOM because not only does Planet Fitness not care about you, they will ignore you if something bad happens to you there. read more

Planet Fitness is my gym when I travel. This was the closest location to where I was staying in Rosemont. Not all PF's are the same when it comes to their layout. Although this gym is new, their layout is VERY spread out w/ their machines. It would seem as though they have less equipment than other PFs I've visited. They have one set of cable machines, BUT they do have medicine balls, which not every PF has. They are also getting a PF 360, which will have battle ropes. Another feature that not all PFs have. They have TONS of cardio machines. The mirror set up is def not one for those looking to improve form. They are cut out mirrors that are separated equally. So if you're looking to improve your form by watching yourself in the mirror, good luck. The assisted pull-up/dip machine had all kinds of grease on it which got all over my hand. I had to tell one of the people cleaning about it. No one cleaned it during my time I was there working out. Other than that this gym is pretty clean. read more

No mask! Last week, I became a new member of Planet Fitness in Chicago. Upon my first meeting with Mr. Diaz, I requested that he wear a mask, and he complied. It was during that first meeting with Mr. Diaz, that I explained to him my level of anxiety regarding the Coronavirus and that being able to social distance while at the gym was extremely important to me. However, when I was scheduled to meet with the trainer, Mr. Diaz, for the second time, in order to design my own program, everything went to the left. I stated, that considering that we're still in a pandemic, and that the Coronavirus is alive and well, I asked Mr. Diaz if he would put on a mask during our 30 minute, meeting. He then stated that since he is fully vaccinated, that he's not required to wear a mask. I then asked him if he would just wear the mask while working with me, he again refused, and he then stated that he had already spoken to his manager about it. So that leads me to believe that during our second meeting, that he was just being defiant. I then spoke with the manager, and she too preceded to tell me what the CDC says about fully vaccinated people, and she stated that since Mr. Diaz is fully vaccinated, that he's not required to wear a mask. I then told her that I didn't feel safe or comfortable with Mr. Diaz working one on one with me without wearing a mask, and that I would be writing a Google review about my experience there. Later that day, I phoned their corporate office, and I lodged a complaint regarding Mr. Diaz's refusal to put on a mask, and there by denying me service. I talked to them about Mr. Diaz refusing to wear a mask during our scheduled meeting. Also, I stated that since Mr. Diaz, works for Planet Fitness, and he represents their brand, that without any clients, there would be no need for a Planet Fitness, let alone a trainer. In addition, I stated that I worked out that day for an 1.5 hours, so Mr. Diaz had an ample opportunity to do an about face, apologize for refusing to put on a mask, put on a mask, and to complete my individualized program but he chose not to. In addition, I lodged my complaint last Thursday, but I have yet to have my complaint addressed by anyone from thier corporate office, which is another layer of disrespect and disregard that Planet Fitness has for its clients. Since then, I understand that Mr. Diaz has transferred to another one of Planet Fitness's gyms. I haven't decided if I'm going to continue with my membership with Planet Fitness due to the the lack of health, safety, decency, and human regard during the pandemic. As a result of this experience, I cannot recommend Planet Fitness to anyone. read more

I've been coming here (and Zip fitness at the time) since... I can't even remember. However, sadlyI did leave for a year to try out Xsport in Norridge and came back. I hated xsport staff so much, they're the reason I left. I was so happy to come back to Zip/Planet. I was sad when Zip closed, but was happy to hear a gym was still going to be there, which is now Planet. Staff now are super nice and friendly. They enforce masks and have you walk around with your own spray bottle which is nice. If you say you can't breathe in masks and hate it, suck it up. I prefer it actually for reasons other than covid (panting with my mouth open like a cow. Love it lol) can't beat the price either. It's a 6 min walk for me, but I still drive over the 1-2 mins which sure defeats the purpose of working out but whatever lol. I wish they kept those 2-3 treadmills that let you incline to like 20 with the handles that zip used to have. I used to be on there for an hour at a time. I still miss it but I'll live. I wish the hand sanitizers didn't stink so bad, but sadly all places are now using smelly headache sanitizer. I also like the Crowd-o-Meter on the website so I can plan the right time to come :) read more

It is a huge open facility with massive windows yet when you walk in it is dark and sad. I have been coming to this gym since it was Zip fitness and have been a very happy member at this planet location. I have never had an issues with finding equipment/being overly crowded like I have had at other gyms. For the last year I have been consistently working out with the gym's personal trainer, April. I have changed my mindset on working out because of her and have learned so much. The app makes it so easy to sign up for her classes and there's a great variety. She has helped me become stronger and explains different workouts and the why behind them. She has helped me become more confident when working out alone, but I will always choose to workout with her when she is there! read more

This place deserves less than 1 star. NO HOT WATER FOR OVER A MONTH!! What the hell kind of club is that. The chicago health dept. and cook county health dept. have been notified.
