I joined primarily because they offer free sessions with a trainer to help set up a workout & free classes. I was even able to sign up for a meeting with them on their app. However, when I showed up for the meeting, I was informed there aren't any trainers there, and haven't been for a long time. They don't offer classes either without the trainers. They are aware of the issue with being able to still sign up, but have done nothing about it. False advertising in my opinion. canceling the memembership and going elsewhere. read more

You get what you pay for and then some. Always clean, members and staff are nice. Just read the membership rules because the corporation creates them, and staff do not always understand them well for particular situations. This is probably one of the nicest and biggest Planet Fitness locations, I've ever been to. I love everything in this gym now that I've seen it tonight. I've been a member of Planet Fitness for maybe over 8 years and if I could bring all the trainers I loved from each location here it would be awesome. I would create a powerhouse of ultimate fitness junkies who just inspire to be the better version of yourself in 30 minutes. I came here tonight with my husband. Yes, my first time ever working out with my husband and he trained me tonight! The couple who workout together stay together, right? Of course! My trainer gave me no mercy! I mean some people even thought he was the gym trainer by the color of his pants and everything. I had to point out where the real trainer was at to reinforce they have a trainer at this gym too. What I loved about this gym is the equipment. It's like Planet Fitness knew what I didn't like about the 4 other locations I went to and made it 10x better. The treadmills were the lifetime treadmills with attached monitors to hook in your headphones and watch TV while getting in a nice run. Then you can hop over to the weight area and do as many reps as you like on each machine. Did I mention they even have the PF 360 room which I could not stop raving about at the Gahanna location? You got it, I'm hooked now. I'll be in there maybe daily just getting my favorite exercises in on each equipment! I'm totally in love with everything in this gym now! However, it is always misleading that the gym claims to be 24/7 when only a select, few are actually open 24 hours seven days a week. This is a big location! I stopped in after a trip to Trader Joe's on Sun. morning, and hit the treadmill. They have 3 rows of treadmills, with the individual tv screens, and then the remaining cardio rows are closer to the row of screens just like the smaller locations I am used to. The front desk associates were friendly, and the locker room was clean. I'll be sure to come back when I want to mix up my routine. read more

While I was at this location on 3/15/23 someone broke into my car. Luckily they didn't steal anything but did break my window. When I walked back inside to let them know I could see my car was visible on camera. the manager on duty was fantastic and helpful but unfortunately she didn't have video access and no other manager would answer their phone to get her access. If I could give a ZERO star rating, that would be too much. If you are looking for a place to watch teens sit around and take up space, this is your place! Management is more concerned about tending to their needs than those who really want to workout! Their change of hours and slimming staff is a great predictor of the direction of their business, imo. I haven't done their training. I signed up online. I pop in, wear headphones, chug water, work out, pop out. I'm a "black card" member but haven't used any of those damn amenities. I also shower at home, because when I remember the amenities, I am a sweaty mess and don't bring a change of clothes since I live near by. So why the high rating? Because gyms often suffer from overcrowding, poor management, and a lack of hygiene. Planet Fitness - I see their trainers with people all the time (and I've recognized a couple trainers working out there, too). I see the employees wiping down the machines, refilling spray bottles and paper towels. The place is pretty damn clean. Why not five stars? Because of the clientele. It pisses me off when people don't put weights back - and the Smith machines have labeled pegs to make it damn easy, but some people don't bother. And some people douse the seats with the cleaner, so you have to re-wipe it to catch the excess. So I suppose - I wish they had an etiquette course of some kind. But when it's empty? It's glorious. You feel like you could cartwheel and backflip in there and not bother anyone. I've only heard a couple of guys have the whole "hey brah, sup brah" meathead talk. Most of the people are there to workout, give you space, and not be creepy or annoying. read more

The local managers are super rude, and the corporate doesn't event care about that! Just read the reviews on Yelp and Google and all of a sudden it makes sense why so many people complained about the management! The staff provided misleading information about the membership, leading to confusion and inconvenience. Long story: We were interested in one month of membership for the time we are visiting family in Columbus. One of the staff suggested us that we can sign up for the black membership, use its guest pass benefits, and then cancel the membership the next day. They said this way we can use our membership for the rest of the month. We didn't even know there was such an option, they suggested us to do so! We did the same thing as we were told, and canceled our membership the next day. Then two days later when we were trying to check in, we were told that our membership has been canceled and we can't use the gym. And when we told them that we did what exactly what they suggested us to do, then suddenly 2 managers appeared to the front, and kept saying we are no longer a member and we need to leave! They insisted all the staff know their jobs and didn't even acknowledge that we did exactly what was offered to us! They didn't even listen to us! They acted like we were making a scene, while insulting us in a very calm manner, making us look the bad people there! read more

This is the first Planet Fitness I have been to and I have been going to this one since about the middle of last summer 2019. I do like this gym, as it is much bigger than previous gyms I have been to and there is a lot more equipment. The amount of cardio equipment definitely trumps the amount of strength training equipment, but they still have plenty of what you need. This Planet Fitness is clean and very well maintained, but could use some improvement in two areas. The first thing that comes to mind are the benches in front of the free weights. There needs to be more of them especially during peak times. The second thing that could use some improvement are the cables in many of the cable machines. There seems to be a lot of give in them from all the use they get. Other than that, they give out free pizza from Dominoes and bagels from Panera once a month! read more

I've been a member and attended the Sawmill Planet Fitness for a couple years. Since Covid however, I have noticed that the employees just sit on the counter and watch their phones. I have watched for over a week, a plastic water bottle and mask sitting on 2 separate ellipticals, I finally threw it away. So recap, the staff is lazy, and trash just lays around. Went on the website to cancel my membership and it said to contact the business. I called and the person I spoke to said I had to physically come in or send a written letter. This starting to sound shady because you can sign up online, so why is cancelling different. I asked about sending an email or contacting the manager. I was told there is no email for the business and the regional manager doesn't have a contact or regular hours, they just pop up occasionally. The person I spoke to leveled with me that the management is chaotic. I thanked them for their honesty, but wow, to say that to a customer over the phone! I will be following up with a BBB complaint and letting my bank know that any further charges are to be considered fraudulent. read more

not 24/7, it's all over the doors I showed up at 9:25pm on a Friday, had one exercise left at 10pm and they didn't let me finish. they sounded an alarm nonstop for 30 seconds which is NOT good for anyone with a heart condition..which I have... don't recommend at all after that hope the staff learns use an intercom or something else. Also a hard close at 10pm give someone 2 minutes to finish up. read more

It's very large and open with plenty of machines for all different types of workouts (minus squat racks, but I believe that's an overall Planet Fitness thing, not just this location); if you love cardio, this is the gym for you! The staff is very welcoming and informative, and do a great job of keeping the place clean and sanitized without hovering around the machines; this is one of the only gyms I feel comfortable going to during Covid. I Worked out at Planet fitness this evening. I went to front desk to tell the staff there was no cleaning solution near the bicycles and barely any left near the weight machines. Both men looked at me. They did not move. A moment later, another person came to the desk with the empty bottles. The staff members made negative gestures behind the man's back. We just had a Covid crisis, I would expect the staff would be working harder to make sure the cleaning supplies are available. read more

Stopped here two times during my visit to Ohio, even though I'm on a work trip, training for three days I absolutely could not lose consistency for the gym. Luckily this PF was there to save the day, literally only 8 minutes away from the hotel, it was a breeze to get to. This'll be my 15th PF ever visiting and I will say that their staff is a tad bit friendlier than most of been to. They do have a strange process of grabbing your PF card and scanning it themselves, customer service? I don't know but I like it, smalls details. The weight machines and the free weights are all placed together on one side of the building and the cardio taking up most of the building. I do very much like their layout, its fresh and different from the PF's back home. They have a healthy amount of weight machines and the same amount of free weights every other PF has. One thing I do want to get across, just in the slight chance that PF ever reads a review of mine. SCALE BACK the cardio, bring in more weights! No I have nothing against Cardio, but you have an offset ratio, and nowadays people are weight lifting more. So you find yourself pulling teeth to get on some of the machines, especially the smith machines, forget about even thinking about getting time on one. I have a dream, when PF will wake up, smell the coffee and realize that the gyms of the world aren't set out to judge people but instead are built to HELP people. More weights, stop this whole lunk mentality and make a gym that will make me not wanna have an LAC membership as well. But other than my regular PF complaints, nice job, you guys are running a tight ship. read more

This planet fitness is huge! So spacious and plenty of brand new machines since they just opened. The locker rooms are also spacious. They have changing rooms and showers available, and I love that they always have fresh flowers on the countertops! The $20/month black card membership is a deal since you can bring guests and have access to their spa which includes tanning, massage beds, and a total body workout machine. I haven't tried the total body workout. They have stand up and lay down beds, that are just like any other tanning place I've been. The massage beds are a MUST after a workout!! SO nice!! The staff at this location are very helpful and friendly. My husband left his wedding ring in one of the lockers and the person who answered the phone went to look for the ring twice before finding it and was so patient and helpful! read more

Let me start off by saying I have gone to this planet fitness for a few months. After you get past the front desk no one wears a mask. The one time I forget my mask, they ask me if I have one and I inform them that I had forgotten it and ask if they have one for me. They said they no longer hand out masks but insist that in order to enter I need a mask. I look around the building and the only two masked people there are the two staff members in front of me. I'm already in the building and just a couple feet away from the "mask free zone" aka "every other part of the gym" aside from the front desk. I ask them if I can just walk over there to get in my workout and that I'll have it next time as I normally do, but instead they deny me entry because I don't have a mask. This all takes place while probably 20 feet away everyone working out in the building is not wearing masks... Where is the logic?!? I guess the only logical thing to do is cancel my membership since I can't even workout even though I'm paying for the service. Absolute Garbage. read more

Really nice facility! I just signed up here and even though I did it online I was welcomed with a warm greet by Joe! He was super nice and made sure I knew where everything was and what benefits came with the black card. It really is a deal- new equipment, plenty of treadmills, large space, clean bathroom/locker rooms, massage chairs, tanning, and hydrobeds! Theres big TVs and ones on every treadmill. There's also lots of room to stretch in the back of the facility which I lacked and yearned for at my last gym. All this for only $22 a month! read more

This place is always very clean and usually not busy! Staff is always helpful and friendly. I am not a huge gym person but I feel comfortable going here. I don't feel out of place not knowing what I am doing all the time. The tanning bed rooms are pretty chilly, but it feels good once you get out. They also are always really clean. Normally I would be 100% opposed to using a shower at a gym but the ones here are always clean and seem relatively new. read more

I have been going to planet fitness for five years now at locations all over Ohio. I am a single mother and have always brought my son with me to my workouts. He is very behaved, sits with his tablet in the lobby and never says a word or distracts anyone. EVERY single location I have been to has never had a problem with this, EXCEPT THE SAWMILL LOCATION, at some locations they even give him tootsie rolls and talk to him during my workout. I was asked to leave this location today because no children are allowed. I have brought him here before and never had a problem but the manager today had a problem with it. This location must be for millennials and douchbags, not for people who actually are trying to improve their health regardless of their obstacles. Terrible customer service .. The GM Courtney I have spoken to multiple times about billing a card that should not be billed .. I have been in multiple times to change payment filled out the forms to change payment and they continue to bill the wrong CC.. I had to cancel for this reason.. terrible terrible management ..If you have any billing problems just know they will not help you . They will refer you to a 3rd party.. The GM is so rude I would never ever recommend going there just for that reason. I cancelled and I will never recommend them . Please train your GM on what good customer service is ... Love coming here! Cortney is always there to brighten the place with her smile and it makes me even more glad I chose this location. All of the staff members are professional and super helpful, but I've found Cortney to be consistently present when I need her and always willing to lend a hand! I witnessed a crazy commotion here yesterday with some out of control customer who would not stop screaming, and Cortney handled it like a total pro!!! I would have completely lost my cool with the way this woman was carrying on, but was so proud of the way the staff handled the situation. I will never choose another PF location! read more

After being a member for over a year, I became ill and I was diagnosed with cancer, so I wasn't able to use the facility since July of 2019, but still continued to pay the monthly fee. On January 2nd, I was charged the 2020 annual fee of $45 which was deducted from my checking account. When I went in to cancel my membership on January 4th, I was told since I didnt cancel my membership by December 25th I would still have to pay the 2020 annual fee, even though I would not use the facility in 2020. When I spoke to the manager she told me there was nothing she could do about it and she said her district manager would give me the same answer. This is just bad business! When I asked her if I got better with my illness and wanted to rejoin in June would they charge me again for the 2020 yearly fee she said yes since it was a new membership. Again very bad business! Before I would join Planet Fitness you better read the fine print. They get you in the door with low monthly fees but if you want to leave they are not so friendly! I would look elsewhere first. I have been contemplating joining this location for about a year but never pulled the trigger. I received an email stating veterans could workout here for a week, so how could I pass this up. I will admit, after reading numerous reviews here, I was even more skeptical than I already always am. I was expecting one thing, but received the opposite. I have been a member of LifeTime Fitness, Worlds Gym, Rec Centers, and numerous other gyms over the years, so I have had sufficient experience with the competition. I will also write this review knowing full well this is a completely subjective opinion, and do not claim this fitness center is for everyone as do other reviewers. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a number of staff, all while smiling and eager to help. Which is contrary to other reviewers. I asked about the free week and they not only thanked me for my service, but gave me a great tour through the facility. I was expecting a much more sparse location with just some cardio equipment, a few free weights etc. but I couldn't have been more wrong. Yes, there was far more than ample cardio machines of all types, but room after room of more "specialized" equipment such as, the PF 360 room, the 30-minute room, a stretching room etc. The place had far more weights than expected on top of it all. Then came the Black Card Lounge area with numerous hydro chairs, beds, massage chairs etc. After getting the tour, I did a short workout and used one of the beds. I am a HUGE fan of these beds, using these at my chiropractor has made me realize just how beneficial they really are. When the workout was over, I went to the locker room to find I should have asked about towels, since one of the ways this gym saves on cost is, the lack of them. So, no shower, but it's all good. Overall, the place is very clean, again contrary to other reviews, except for some sinks areas completely covered in water, but things happen. Other than that, the locker rooms were great. The gym itself is clean, spacious, full of all equipment I would ever need all while introducing a lot I have never used, but now a big fan of. The trainer was extremely friendly, the staff was great all at an unbeatable price for the value. I joined under the black card membership solely because the commitment had been removed, and good for them--contracts are HORRIBLE and should NEVER be reintroduced...just a suggestion. The one big thing for me which made me not give 5 stars is, and I know I will be criticized for this, but, the sheer hypocrisy of the claims of "no judgement". I love the theme, and completely agree, however, when you put a "Lunk Button" in the place with an example along with it such as, "Ricky grunts, wears a tank top and drinks from a gallon jug" next to signs saying, "No Judgement Zone", and "all are welcome" etc is completely wrong! You are advocating judging a person by what they wear, and what they drink from, which is textbook judgment and claiming you are non-judgmental....huh?? Nope, you must except them as well. Do I like those who throw their weights?....No, but, you get my point. So in summary, I would recommend his place to anyone. Is it for everyone...no. Is it a crossfit gym, no. However, I do not know of ANY place who can give you such a large facility, abundance of hardware, etc. at such a price point. No, you cannot go to LifeTime Fitness just down the street and get what this place has. They do not have the therapy rooms, and at $75/month for an individual, you will pay FAR more than this place, especially if you're just looking for a workout. read more

Let me first say that the facility is beautiful and the equipment is fantastic. The front check-in staff is friendly and it's not crowded like so many other places. So why am I giving this review two stars? Their personal trainer. I signed up for fitness classes and was excited. The classes were perfect for my schedule and my budget. I went to the first class and had a decent workout. The other lady who was with me was not friendly, but I didn't care - not everyone is friendly and that's their deal. The trainer was a little quirky and condescending, but for the most part, she was friendly and helpful - that first night. The second night I went back for another class with her. The same woman from the previous night was in the class with me (just as stand-offish as the night before, but I figured "oh well." Maybe she's just miserable or didn't like me - again, I didn't care - but it was something I noticed). The class started well and I thought that I had been mistaken the night before: the trainer wasn't condescending, her demeanor was just her sense of humor. She was helpful and I was enjoying the workout. Then. One of the stations involved jumping. I said I couldn't jump because I had delivered five babies and I had a little problem. I didn't want to go into the fact that my bladder is not young anymore and I wind up with issues from the smallest jump, slip, or anything else (I've been known to pee my pants from just slipping a little on ice!). Anyway, I really didn't want to explain WHY I couldn't jump and I thought maybe she'd figure it out once I told her I'd had five babies and I had some "issues". Well, for a judgement-free zone, I was very much judged. She went on for about 30-45 seconds lecturing me about how I was in the wrong mind-set when I said "can't" and that anyone can do anything they set their mind to. I tried to explain, but she interrupted and kept on with her lecture. She even said, "so many women have excuses why they can't do things." Let me say, none of this was said in an encouraging way. Nor was it done in a motivating or "coaching" way. It was said specifically to shame me for what she thought was a cop out on my part. I shut down at that point, finished the station and moved to the next (and final) one. She made another comment and I had enough. I said, "Look. I wear a pad everyday because my bladder leaks. If I jump, I leak (well, more than that - actually). I've had five babies, my bladder is weak." She said, "oh, I might have misunderstood" - this was said in a condescending tone. I was upset at that point and trying desperately not to cry. I said, "well, I don't appreciate how you went off and lectured me." She responded that she hadn't gone off on me. THEN, the other, unfriendly lady muttered "I've had two babies, I leak, I just deal with it." At that point, the session was over and I left. I called the shift lead later to ask if there were other trainers and he said I'd need to go to another facility because they only had one on staff. That's fair. However, when I explained what happened it was crickets. He said nothing. Finally, I just said thanks for the information (about using another gym) and he said in that annoying "wrap it up" voice he was sorry for what happened and if I needed anything else to call - then he hung up. I'm not too upset about that because I figure he's probably a young kid who was mortified hearing about an old (in his eyes) lady's female problems. The bottom line is, I was terribly embarrassed and humiliated - and it's embarrassing even writing this. BUT - my husband was adamant that I give PF a review and take them to task about their "no judgements" advertising. With all of this said, I'll go back. The facility is too nice to not use it. One thing is certain though. I will never take another class with that trainer. read more

Tried to cancel my membership today only to find that the black membership isn't "obligation free" as advertised. Worse yet, moving home gyms renews the contract. I'll pay the $58 fee to cancel early because this is dirty business. I'm sure it's written somewhere in the fine print, but the associates certainly sell this membership differently.... go to lifetime fitness. It's a couple miles away and you really can cancel at anytime. It's also a much nicer facility. read more
