No Judgement Zone??? I enrolled with Planet Fitness and scheduled a New Member Orientation Class on Feb 25 at 8:30am. When I arrived at Planet Fitness (EP US 54, El Paso, TX), I informed the front desk staff member that I was here for the 8:30am orientation class. She laughed at me. I hope she laughed at me because I look funny and not because I am a senior citizen interested in working out and getting in shape. She then told me that there was no orientation class because there were not any trainers available. I scheduled this orientation class on the Planet Fitness website, and the trainer assigned named Joshua Venegas. If any services at Planet Fitness are not available, then the website and/or app should be updated to reflect the changes. So, my first impression of Planet Fitness was not very favorable, and I have a feeling that Planet Fitness carters to a younger population. I will give Planet Fitness a second chance even through I will have to figure out to use the equipment at this gym. I will update this review after I use the gym for a few months. read more

Pretty nice gym! Pretty good deals too for membership since there's almost always a 5 or 10 dollar deal. I used to hate the idea of a membership jist because i can go for free on base.... buuuuut i dont necessarily like the drive down there... JUST to work out. Even though thats part of my job in the Army, its nice to feel more away from work when its my day off. So my husband and i decided since this spot was right around our house, why not?! Plus s cheap enough too with a good variety of equipment for all that resistance training you cant always get on your own. And its better than buying your own equipment i think. Only thing that blows is how this location doesnt hav a nice sauna or even a steam room to just decompress and relax. Ehh well. Still beats the heat for working out in the summer! read more

This gym is so much better than EP fitness atmosphere wise by a mile. It's also a lot cleaner since there is a cleaning station every 20 steps you go. They recently redid the black card lounge where they offer tanning and massages. If you're looking for a gym in the northeast, this is the one. read more

It isn't a huge gym but it has a lot of machines to use. I try to come as early as possible since afternoon yields a very packed building. The equipment is good but I wish it had more free weights and benches to use. I understand it's a gym catered to the novice user. Very user friendly machines but I've been here since 2013 and have lost 150 pounds during my time as a frequent gym rat. If you're determined, you'll make it work and you'll see results. Definitely recommend. Price is great and the perks are worth it (I say as I sit on the massage chair). read more

This is a sorry company to do business with. Turns out if you don't give them your bank account information, you can't join or get a black card membership. They have no allowance for debits to credit cards. I don't give out my bank information to anyone and I am insulted when someone has the audacity to ask for it. If Planet Fitness's records are breached by hacker, is Planet Fitness liable? No, because of the agreement they make you sign. In terms of your bank, you are liable if you do not inform your bank that your data has been compromised. Even if you do inform your bank within a certain time frame, you are liable up to certain limits. It's all a hassle risk that PF imposes on you when you give them your bank information. I just won't do business with these people. read more

Extremely pleased that this Planet Fitness facility finally upgraded their Black Card Member Lounge! The previous lounge area seemed like an afterthought in the design, as everything was cramped and the tanning service was outdated with two stand up tanning booths jammed in the corner of the same room as the massage chairs. Finally this facility measures up to their competitor Planet Fitness gyms in the El Paso region. Now there are actual tanning rooms with state of the art Ergoline lay down tanning beds!! Very impressed with the significant upgrades. Each room is equipped with paper towels and cleaning solution to disinfect the beds before and after. Now as long as they maintain the cleanliness of the rooms and tanning beds, ensure cleaning solution and paper towels are stocked in each tanning room, and ensure bulbs are fully functioning this will continue to be my go to Planet Fitness. Thank you to management for finally making the much needed change. Cons: 1. The chairs located in the tanning rooms are pointless due to the poor design. Items placed on the chair slide down to the floor. They need to rethink this. As a tanner I'd prefer to have a chair I can actually place my personal items on. Cause no one has the need to sit in them. 2. The paper towel dispensers are automatic but you have to wave your hand below to have it dispense paper. It's slow and dispenses small amounts of paper. Time consuming when trying to gather enough paper towels to clean the tanning bed. Eats into the delay time before the bed starts. Some things to think about... read more

Equipment is clean and new, very spacious and the massagers are great! I liked that everyone is in the own zone, the employees are accessible and here's no intimidation. If you want to try a gym but are afraid of judgement, this is a good place to start! Plus, it's 10/month and the hours are great as well- you can't beat that! read more

This gym was excellent a year ago , now the staff except one or two females is full of gay guys , which I have no issue with the gay community, but for them to be flailing around in the gym is a little too much ! And the personal trainer they have there is a JOKE ! I've seen how he just leaves memebers on their own , and doesn't check on how they are doing or if the are using the machine or equipment correctly. This all happens in the evening time around 4pm and beyond. Again nothing against the gay community but it's just too much what these guys have going on at the front desk . FREE HAIRCUTS. I get my haircut WEEKLY for FREE. Quick maths You pay 20 bucks a month. You pay 10 dollars for haircuts. 4 haircuts a month is 40 dollars 40 minus 20 is 20. You save 20 dollars. In my opinion this is a great gym the set up is awesome. The staff on the other hand would benefit from some training on simple day to day task. They come in and bring their new behind the counter so everyone is focused on the baby not the guest. No one can make you an appointment with the one trainer. For some reason during the morning there are at least 3 employees behind the counter talking to each other. I assumed it was a staff meeting. I think it is a bit weird to have a staff meeting during those times but I am positive they were just talking to each other about their weekends. Overall the staff could be improved. read more

This place is a great place to work out. Employees are very nice and approachable. Place is always clean, but other customers need to have more respect for other least you can do is clean up after themselves. I have a black card and the amenities are great. Can't beat the free advise and trainer made program. Other places would charge a crazy amount just to get one on one. People need to remember there is only one trainer for over 100 ppl. Need to be patient or read a book on what to do. Great job to planet fitness on their prices and the amenities they offer their customers. read more

Enrolling I was informed my first time at the gym id get a tour. Walked in informed the staff I was a first time visitor. I got a scan card and told they didn't have the promotion shirts. Every time I asked where something is I was pointed in the direction of mass equipment. The staff refused to leave their desk. Tanning machines did not work. Been coming to PF for a little over a year now and I love it! It's definitely better than Roca Fitness in cleanses and ease of moving around. But sometimes it can get pretty packed, specially after work ( I come around 430pm) and it's hard to get in some of my heavier workouts on the smith machines. The black card membership is definitely the route to go, after a few months it's pays for itself and you can bring a guest which is a huge perk! RF was horrible expensive and sticklers about guests. Other than getting packed sometimes I really enjoy this place, however the only think I did like about RF is the environment. It was very much geared towards heavy lifting and bodybuilders and here at PF it's more just a place for people to workout without judgment of others. They are all so nice at this gym! The gym has everything a regular gym goer needs except sauna or steam room, and no real cycle bikes. No pool or jacuzzi either. But all the machines are clean and newish looking. They have plenty of everything read more

There isn't a lot to say about a good gym with good staff. There's a lot of equipment and it's clean, spacious, and the black card lounge is very nice. I stay for 2 to 4 hours at a time when I am visiting El Paso, and I always enjoy my workouts. read more

Not a bad gym, just really REALLY disappointed with their weekend hours. I unfortunately work nights and can only come in late. The weekend is when they SHOULD be 24 hours. *sigh* oh well. The employees are nice but seem to not care all too much about their jobs, lots of chatting going on but not a lot of preemptive work. At least they jump when you say something is out or broken. Overall, not a bad place. You get what you pay for at $10 a month. Relatively helpful staff, although they're always polite and professional. What a great offer for Black Card special! The place always very well maintained, staff is always present, and parking is more than enough. It is tucked away in a great spot so you are out of the way of other traffic from the shopping center and able to get to a workout machine rather quickly. After having a membership for one month shy of a year and enjoying working out there I'll cancel my membership today and recommend only using anytime 24 hour fitness down the street! For these past 11 months my daughter and I workout there just about everyday with zero issues. Today either it's a new person or what was a complete fool! Denying us gym access because my daughter doesn't have her birth certificate in their system. 11 months and not one person asked a thing not even when I had my daughter with me when I input her info into the system as my guest. This Planet Fitness is very slow to mark broken machines and get them repaired. Sometimes my husband and I report a broken machine and they don't mark it. My husband started marking machines himself so they can find them but the notes get pulled off without an official sign being posted. There are not enough upright bikes. There are only 4 and 2 are frequently in disrepair. Planet Fitness, don't you know these are popular machines! Look around, the working ones are always being used. read more

A clean gym with machines that work. I've never had a problem being able to use a machine due to the place being crowded. The Black Card Lounge has tanning booths and a few massage chairs that I'll probably never use, but are available if that's your thing. The best feature, the free barber shop, just closed, which was the biggest extra feature that sold me on the membership and separates this gym from the other gyms nearby. That service added a lot of value for me, and it is disappointing to to see them discontinue it without replacing it with another service. They also don't offer child care. Without the haircuts and child care, I'll likely find a gym that offers the latter. But if you're content with a gym with plentiful, but basic, equipment, don't require child care, and aren't sold on free haircuts, this gym is adequate. read more

As far as fitness facilities, or even just Planet Fitnesses go, this facility is lacking. An unusually large proportion of the equipment is under "reupholstery" and not able to be used. Staff clearly isn't involved enough to prevent damage to equipment or to repair it in a timely manner. There are better options for a gym, even in the local NE area. I would not recommend. read more
