First time being a member at a gym. Although my husband and I are not traditional gym people, we were looking forward to having a go-to spot for a quick work out session and SHOWERS while living on the road. So you can imagine the showers were a huge incentive. We sprung for the Black card, and we've been to this location a handful of times now. The work out areas are fine - we mostly use the TRX equipment and stick to that corner, so I'm not really qualified to rate the workout equipment as a whole. The reason for the low star rating is that every time we've been, the showers have been luke-warm, IF we're lucky. As a big selling point for membership (for our particular case) was the showers, we are really disappointed that we have had to take cold showers after our workouts. That's no way to relax our tired muscles! I brought this up to the front desk the first time we went, and they mentioned that someone had been in to fix this, and maybe the hot water tank just hadn't refilled yet. Several days later, and it was no different. Not sure if they were making something up to appease me, or if it was legitimately addressed, but I've been back two additional times with no update. I tried calling on the day of this review to see if this has been fixed, but couldn't get through. Unfortunately, we'll be going out of our way to attend a different Planet Fitness because of this. As far as COVID safety goes, they do a good job of cleaning, and provide sanitation stations with spray bottles and paper towels. I continue to wear my mask while I work out, even though that is not enforced by PF in accordance with state law, and its a pretty mixed bag of people who do or don't wear masks. Hopefully they have a good air purification system to account for this, to protect their employees and patrons. Not much airflow, from what I can tell, but I know there is more to it than that. I do like that the app gives insight as to how busy the gym is. We've been able to avoid crowded hours this way. read more

Teenagers free during the summer sounded good. But when equipment isn't available for paying customers and they use the place to hang out it puts a damper on your workout. If you're looking to join I would suggest going off hours or waiting until the kids are gone, August 31st. read more

Planet fitness, what can I say. I really enjoy going to someplace that's really clean and all about the service. Some of the associates are very attentive. I appreciate that and I have never felt uncomfortable about being there to do a workout. I can go and phase out with no issues. Really like going here. read more

This PF has the worst locker rooms ever. They feel/look like high school gym lockers. The lockers themselves are covered in small holes so everyone can see all your shit and to top it off, my usual heavy duty lock didn't fit so if someone wanted to steal your shit, being forced to use small locks makes it that much easier. The showers are institutional with very little warm water and no one else was using the bathroom or the showers, so that's not the excuse. The gym itself is no better. Worst planet fitness I've been to, and I've been to at least 6. Just gonna run through the problems I saw in order. Got there @4 since I like to go when they open and already they have 8 dumbells missing from the rack, 2 barbells, and the leg press had 2 45s and 1 25. I mean sometimes there's a couple missing but that was just ridiculous to me. I noticed it had very few cleaning stations and most only had one spray bottle and none had hand sanitizer. There was also no space to do floor workouts with the mats unless you want to be crammed between machines. There was space for like 2 people next to where they have the mats. I did not go in the locker room except to wash my hands, went in and out so idk how that is. Oh yea and there was spider webs on the machines, ridiculous. I expected more from this gym. Only came bc the one in the NE currently under renovation. Please fix this since people want at least the bare minimum from gyms. read more

Hey, it works for me. I just need a place to use a treadmill, as I prefer to lift weights at home. There are always plenty of machines available. The place is super clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful, at least in my experience. I have only two issues that keep me from giving 5 stars. They need to be open later on weekends. I understand that they probably don't need to be 24 hours on weekends, but 7:00 is a bit early for me, as I usually work. 10:00 would be better. 24/7 would be best. The other issue is the iPhone hookups on the machines. Almost everyone with an iPhone has at least the 5 nowadays. Upgrade to the lightning connector so we can use it! read more

Close to home, and gets the job done regarding cardio and resistance....the biggest complaint I have is the spray bottles and paper towels...Planet Fitness needs to get with the times and get sanitation wipes or disinfectant wipes...they are so much easier and quick to just use and throw away...hope someone reaches out to me because I think yall should switch to wipes. read more

First of all, I love Planet Fitness. It's been my gym for years. But I'm not sure what was up with their closing employee today. All the TV's were off at 6:50 PM, (from what I've seen other employees are courteous to at least wait until around 2 minutes before 7) he rang the Lunk alarm over and over to try and get people's attention, and about 5 minutes to 7 went around yelling said to wrap up workouts. I understand the business closes at 7, and typically I go in at 6PM on Sunday's, and I've NEVER seen any other employee do this. read more

I was a member of this gym for almost 2 years and had no issues during the time of my membership. It was when I went to cancel that things took a turn. This location was closed for several months due to renovation. I had to go to Zaragoza location in order to cancel which was no problem for me. I spoke to a young man who said he would take care of my cancellation and that was that. A couple weeks later COVID hit. Then the gyms started to reopen in May. That's when I noticed that PF had taken out my monthly membership of $30 which caused me to overdraft in my account because I had not been working which was not okay. I went back to this location to speak to a manager who told me the young man I spoke to at Zaragoza hadn't actually cancelled my membership and now I owe a balance of $90??? I came to request a refund and now they're charging me. We came to a deal where they would not let me take my refund but would let me use the facilities for one more month which was my only option but I took it. I worked out for 2 days then decided to go to the Zaragoza location and they would not let me in because of the balance on my account. I had told her the arrangement we made with the manager at Joe Battle and she called him and the manager said he never agreed to this. So now Im -$55 on my bank account and can't even use the gym for my last month when I was charged $30 4 days ago. Ridiculous. The young man and managers at both locations have no idea what's going on and are not on the same page. They will take your money when you try to cancel. This is my last time at a commercial gym like this. Terrible business. read more

Planet fitness is exactly what it advertises to be, not a gym. For $10 a month, you get all the basics of the gym and get a workout before work, or after. With their monthly pizza giveaways every first Monday of the month, they are encouraging everyone to be "average joes". Oh and don't forget the bagel Tuesdays on every second Tuesday of the month. There is no doubt that this is not a normal gym. There is more cardio machines than anything else. That is mainly what fills up this small vicinity. No squat racks, free weights, just Smith machines. There are 2 rooms for the tanning booths and 2 rooms for hydro massage? I haven't seen anyone go into any of those rooms, but I guess it'll puck up around summer time. It is well kept as far as cleanliness goes. Any time I have gone the employees are walking around picking up trash off the floor and reracking weights left behind. The employees are nice and definitely keep to themselves chatting, which I don't mind because I go to the gym to workout, not stand at the front chatting up the employee's. The one employee I have found helpful is the young man that works the late overnight shift. He has glasses and for the life of me I cannot remember his name! But any problem/mess I have brought to his attention, he has apologized and cleaned/fixed the problem. Planet fitness could use more employees like him. Maybe their overall productivity will increase. I only gave 4 stars because when you sign up, some of the employees aren't properly trained on explaining the fees and overall memberships. But it's a decent and affordable gym. read more

I didn't have time to stroll around and get a tour. I opted out of getting a shirt as well. I won't be going to pebble hills too often because I work out of town but it was a great first impression. read more

I have been a member with planet fitness fair over a year. When it came time for me to move on the staff was not very helpful AT ALL. I have since moved cities and my cancellation process was horrendous. The staff here couldn't give me any information other than go to the website and or send in a cancellation letter stating why I was cancelling my membership. It's my only day off and I took time to call and try to cancel but they make it near impossible to do so because you have to come in. read more

First impressions aren't always great! I signed up during my lunch online to get ahead of the game. Knowing that I was going to visit the fitness center during a peak time. Upon entering I was greeted with "ok you're good to go", I didn't even check in or get my key tag, tour or shirt yet. I told the young lady I needed to get my initiate entry established since I applied online. She asked for my number and was bothered the entire time. She assumed I had a 915 area code and looked at me with a look like she didn't have time for this. She gave me the key tag and then said "is there anything else I can do for you?" I asked for my shirt and she responded that they ran out of shirts. How do you run out of shirts when you run a promotion of membership? I ended up strolling around to get the tour since I wasn't provided one like it was stated on the email. Over the center was well ventilated and organized. I am unfortunately a planet fitness member, I say unfortunate because the name planet fitness has such a horrible rep. Sure, they offer pizza and bagel days. And the majority of people that go there couldn't figure out the difference between a bicep and a hamstring. But as long as you don't mind waiting every now and again for a machine, it's not all bad. Only issue I have is they have very little free weights. Only Dumbbells. So I can't do deadlifts of anything like that. They have smith machines so you and kind of do bench and squat. But it's just not the same. Never heard the link alarm go off there,but I'm sure it happeneds. For a gym that claims to be judgement free,there is sure a lot of judging. I wouldn't personally utilize their "personal trainers" because they seem to weigh a hundred pounds soaking wet with little or no muscle. All around, it's worth the 10 bucks a month. I love this place! Anyone who complains is just a judgemental person who shouldnt be there anyways. Theres nothing wrong with having pizza ONCE A MONTH. The staff here is super nice and i have mever been more fit in my life. And i have yet to be there during pizza days but hell if i was, i would eat a pizza. I look better than before and if i want a pizza then who are you to judge what i eat? My body says otherwise. This planet fitness is a great way to get in shape IF YOU WANT TO. This is my gym for the summer. I'm not overweight, actually almost underweight, but since it is summer I thought, "lets work on getting abs and turn those puny arms into some muscle!". I've Been going for about a month already and have about 2 more months left here in El Paso to keep working out. Planet Fitness is a HUGE business here and you see billboards everywhere advertising. I got the deal where you only pay a dollar to join and then $10 a month after that. This particular location is less than a mile from my house. It has a lot of treadmills/elliptical, and then one wall for bench presses, one wall for free weights, and then the second half with a bunch of random machines. They also have tanning and massage beds for those who decide to pay a higher month fee. Staff is nice and they will gladly help if you ask. They give you a paper that has the peak hours, so be very aware of that because it can get extremely crowded at times. The good thing though is that its 24 hours mon-friday. I feel bad for not checking in those 30 times I have gone before because then I would've been Duke or whatever, but that's alright. Happy exercising! read more
