There isn't much to complain about here, with the addition of updated equipment at the facility, you have plenty of options for weight training , cardio & mobility . I read my previous reviews but I could have sworn this location has had hydromassage beds in the past and they have now downgraded to solely the loungers instead which is very disappointing. I do really like the layout of the workout equipment on the floor. The shower curtains have been downgraded as well so there is about 4-6" which is left wide open since it is too short for the shower stall. read more

Went to the gym today during normal hours, about 10a.m. They were closed. I asked the nasty white woman who seem to be management about adding a second seated intellibstride machine due to its popularity amoung seniors and those with mobility issues. She rudely told me No. Each gym has one of these machines. (End of story). I cancelled my membership. Seniors deserve better. A second senior came in and she just pointed to the door. This gym is actually one of the best on the Westbank. I'm an avid gymnast and I can tell you that they do their best. The members can sometimes make a mess of the place, but the employees stay on top of cleanliness, origination, and all with a smile. They even go as far as remembering the names of regulars. The parking can vary. The members at this location start at 6am and it goes up and down from there. The busiest times I've seen are usually 8am, 12pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 8pm. The locker room is well kept by the guys on duty. There are numerous machines available whenever people aren't texting their lives away. I think some people just like to be in the company of other people and don't actually come to workout. Anyways, that isn't the companies fault and that's why they have 5 stars from me. It's a fun, not a daycare. They can't babysit a bunch of able bodied adults who decide to be inconsiderate. When there is a rush it can be difficult for them to keep up, but they try their best. In my opinion, the condition of the gym is determined by the members. There's only so much staff can do, when they're outnumbered. When it's slower times you can see true cleanliness of the staff. That's really all of the gyms issue, to be honest. The members or being short staffed. And in New Orleans area the quality of employees is next to nothing, so what can a business do?! This is an exceptional gym for many reasons. I greatly appreciate the way in which I'm treated by the staff. Boomer here, still getting accustomed to the 21st c. That said, the staff is exceptionally kind, always willing to help, and the equipment is very good. The place is spotless....there's always someone cleaning the machines. I have to admit, this gym is impressive. They have posted around everywhere that this place is a no judgement zone and considering how spaced out everything is, I can see why. This place has a lot of neat amenities if you wish to pay for them. This place is very cardio friendly and emphasized. Their are treadmills and relative machines of that nature seemingly for miles. This place is pretty! They keep a color scheme of purple and gold everywhere, and they have matching gear for you to purchase. There is not much here in regards to free weights. They actually have a sign and siren against people considered to be a "lunk." No weight slamming and loud grunting here. Barbells stop in the seventies, curling bars in the sixties, and there are only assisted bench pressing here. This gym is designed for safe workouts. If you pay a little more monthly, you have access to tanning booths, skin tightening lights, massage machines that are water based and much more. Even the rest rooms has showers and televisions in it. This place is nice. For $10 a month you can have access to a lot of neat things included timed workout areas to help target areas. It is set up like speed dating, except you switch machines instead of people. This place is definitely a you get what you pay for place. Places for the ipod and/or headphones to listen to the multiple televisions in the place. Not sure what the tootsie rolls are for! Not sure why they give pizza and bagels to the members either! Check them out. They are open 24 hours and only close for Christmas and Easter. read more

Well, there is a leak in the ceiling back in the circuit room. It's been leaking for over a year. No one seems to notice though because it is very seldom mopped and the bucket is overflowing with water. Water is all over the floor between and beneath two machines. The water makes it dangerous for using the steppers so... there's that. I can't imagine the mold in the air! Lately the puddle has had some sort of clear scummy stuff in it. And... I counted 8 machines with out of order signs on them... I imagine there are more. Some of the paper towel boxes are gone, so you get to pick up a roll from the floor or the top of the waste can and pull from that... The parking lot lights were on this week. That was unusual because they usually aren't. The two at the desk do not greet anyone as they enter, I'm not sure they even notice if anyone enters. I haven't gone in the locker rooms because if they are anything like the rest of the gym, it might not be safe, since no one seems to notice who is coming in and whether or not they swipe their card. It is a shame! Other members have grumbled about the conditions and I've noticed that quite a few have stopped coming in. read more

I've been coming here since October and every evening is the same- people sitting on weight equipment with their head in the screen. The best are the ones taking selfies of their workout. Now it's January, and every day is amateur hour. FYI: when 200+ people working out, you need the AC running to dry the air- even in January. read more

So...all I've jheard was jokes about this place up until I joined. "It's not a real gym....You can even grunt...blah blah". Well, I don't know about you, but I really dont want to hear any grunting while I'm zen/peacefully working out. When you walk in you are always greeted by someone as sson as you walk through the door. This place is huge and open and decorated really modern. There are these two MASSIVE fans that must span the size of a whole regular living room to where its difficult to break a sweat sometimes. The locker rooms are also really big and great. There's only 4 showers and two actual closed in dressing rooms, but that hasnt been a problem yet at 6 in the morning. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that they do not have towels for the shower room, so you do have to remeber to throw one in your bag. It's understandable though, when you're only paying $10 a month. Any gym that can make their facilities appealing enough for youo to WANT to come back, is a winner in my book. read more

I love this gym!! First of all, it's 10 bucks a month!! Second, it's 24 hours a day, and best of all it's clean and never over crowded. The machines and weight area is always spotless, the staff seem to be cleaning constantly and the bathrooms are always stocked and maintained. There are so many cardio machines, you will never have to wait, bikes, treadmills, ellipticals what ever you like. The 30 minute workout is a great way to get into the gym, the machines all set in a circuit for one minute each and you get a full body workout. They have four large smith racks for heavy lifting and a nice set of dumbells with plenty of benches. read more

The gym itself is very nice and clean. I have yet to try the tanning beds or the massage chairs. They have every machine I would want to used and my favorite is the 30 minute circuit. This would easily be 5 stars except people do not follow the rules of the 30 minute circuit and none of the workers bother to enforce it. I have limited time to get to the gym and I like to bust out my 30 minutes in order and in time. This has so far been impossible with people posting up on machines and acting like it is the main floor of the gym. The management needs to handle the people that are messing up the routines. there are so many machines on the floor why do they have to come and break up my circuit training. BLah! Makes me mad! I have tried at 4:30 and at 7:30 and still not able to get through my circuit in order and in the proper time. I wish I had time to go late at night when no one is there but my sleep is precious to me. Hopefully this problem gets solved and I will update if so. read more

So gyms are a love hate thing. I been going to them as long as I been fat, and thats my whole adult life. I think though these guys have figured out a good model. Make it huge as hell, cheap and for the average person. Not the steroid, spikey haired head guys like most "real" gyms. Now I say that because it is a simpler almost beginners type gym. Everything is marked well, mostly all machines and not free weights, and there is signage everywhere about No Critics or No Lunks. Things of that nature. Think of it as almost a Curves for women , but for everyone. All types of people too. Not being the first of the year and I see all sizes and ages of folks in here, I think they have a really good thing going. And the best part, its cheap!! If I don't go for a few months, I wont feel too guilty. Actually I wont feel guilty at all. I missed a whole year at $40 a month before, and I didn't flinch then ;-) I see there is classes and personal trainers, but when my sweets and I first signed up , we were not given the tour to show us what Planet Fitness has to offer. We had to figure it out for ourselves, but also I wasn't surprised by that. When staffed by today's young people, who look totally disinterested in the job, I don't expect much. The equipment all seems to be in perfect condition. Spaced out far enough where I dont have to smell the next persons sweat. Also it appears to be very updated equipment. Most is simplified, non electronic, but im fine with that. And cool? This place is nice and chilly! For the size and amount of body heat in the open space, I am pleasantly surprised that its cool. I saw tanning booths and massage tables, but I have no clue how those work or how I can use them. I guess I have to talk to someone to find out. This is a solid gym. There are so many cardio machines that even when it's packed, you don't have to wrestle someone for a machine. They have a good amount of weights and strengthening machines. The stretching area could have been bigger. It's hard to have more than 3-4 mats laid out in the back without feeling cramped. I love seeing people of all shapes in this gym. Also...plus points for cleanliness and being well designed! The staff is very helpful as well. If they could figure out a way to lose calories quicker...I'd give them 10 stars. read more

Being a fitness enthusiast I find the need for a proper gym to be crucial. First things first, there needs to be decent if not great ventilation in the building, I need access to a decent locker that is clean as I am the guy who goes straight from work to the gym, a need for a good range of free weights, weighted plates, and resistance machines for toning and building, the building needs to be either organized or spread out enough for safety, and lastly customer service needs to be friendly and willing to help. In my personal experience Planet fitness covers all my criteria. The plus is that you will pay less for this memberships than most other gyms in the New Orleans/Westbank area. The only negatives is that there aren't group classes or proper guidance for those who are unfamiliar with the gym experience. I notice a lot of misuse of machines and lost looks of people as they attempt to figure out how the gym works. If you understand the available equipment and you are willing to push yourself, this gym is for a good range of fitness levels. There isn't a pool, (unless it's hidden) but hey with the low membership fee, go swim in your neighbors pool. Last note, with the recent news of Planet Fitness committing to there "Judgement Free Zone" there is no better reason to support this business! Save some money and get fit! read more

You are basically in a year long contract. $9.99 Sounds nice in the beginning but if you get the black card its $19.99 then everybody gets charged a $42 annual fee and if you want to cancel before a year is up its $60. So maybe your more convenient local gym might be worth it in the long run. Showers are sub par and everything you touch is sorta slimey...just sayin. read more

The Gretna location has a great selection of updated fitness equipment, friendly staff and the overall energy of the people was great. They've only been open a few weeks and so far I've been impressed. I signed a membership before they even had machines in the building and my membership number is in the 400's. A week later a co-worker signed up and his number is in the 1200's. By their first day of business I heard someone at the front desk with the membership number in the 2300's and have since seen others well into the 3000's. With this kind of membership and especially with the location being so new I've expected it to be a nut house. However, even though the front desk is sometimes crowded (Im assuming it's mostly new members or people making purchases), I've never had any issues getting a machine I want. The facilities are clean, lots of workout options, very low lines and for the most part staff are helpful and extremely friendly! read more

My experience with Planet Fitness sucked, there's no knowledgeable employees regarding signing up new members. The manager never wants to speak with members regarding concerns or even bother with calling back. There's a set up fee plus monthly fees and within two months there's an annual fee also. They make so complicated so there's no way for you to get refunded at all. Employees are not knowledgeable about equipment or what's going on most of the time. read more

I was disappointed when I didn't see Raymond during covid. I was afraid he may have changed jobs. No judgement free circuit zones for me. I have a FREE gym membership with my job, but a one hour trip to the gym, turns into 2 because I have to wait for machines... Spent two weeks in the Charlotte area and was a guest of a member at the area locations. I fell in love with the order and convenience of the 30/12 minute circuit program and the customer service. Returned to New Orleans and joined... Service- 2-3 ppl behind the counter looking down. Circuit- 30/12 minute areas used as personal gym, when I attempt to get to the next station (in order), the other members get irritated or will not move, they will not wipe down machine because they are annoyed. The time I spend walking to the counter for the staff/manager to say, our policy is... (NOT OUR PROBLEM), we have to stay at the counter... is using up my gym time. Then they share that everyone complains about it... and another member curses out members who do not move (put him on the payroll and I will schedule time with him!). There is a white board that states a policy, they CHOOSE not to enforce. I even started attempting to find you a solution; guess what you have camera's in those areas???? You can monitor from the counter. I joined because of the 24 hr circuit availability and the service I received in Charlotte. One FB post, 3 conversations with staff and 2 suggestion box submissions later, I had to cancel my membership. I guess you have enough members. What really annoys me is, I recommended PF circuits to about 50 ppl when I returned... I am so embarrassed. If everyone says the program is broken, get rid of it; continuing to market something you cannot manage is false advertising. Throw out the red/green light and white board that says you will ask someone to leave or cancel their membership. I really do cancelling my membership but I cannot to take my quality time to manage your members or program. Such a great unmanageable concept.... There's a reason why this is $10. If you want to do primarily cardio, you may be in luck. I wouldn't put too much into their weight training machines, they're not very good. Free weights, Smith Machine, pull ups and pull downs. That's it. The staff is mainly kids and people who haven't the slightest idea about fitness. They're just there for the check. So don't expect much. They don't smile, they don't even greet you, too busy playing on their electronic devices. So that's Planet fitness. A big ass building with some equipment that may or may not get you fit. If you're knowledgeable about your fitness level and what you should be doing, you MIGHT be successful. If not and you need guidance, pay $20 more and go somewhere else where the employees are professionals and actually know what they're talking about. read more
