The value is here, however, they are lacking the more specific equipment that smaller business owned gyms offer. If you're not trying to tackle that specific equipment then you can have a great workout experience here. The timing of the day makes the biggest difference in the easy of transitioning from place to place in here because less patrons equates to minimum wait time. It's a medium sized gym, with half the equipment seemingly set up for cardio (treadmills, elliptical, rows, and other stuff I barely see people on). They could use more stair steppers, this location only has 4 so that is a bummer when it's more busy. I would have also liked to have seen more areas to do stretches and like your own workouts, the area provided fills up quickly. Bathrooms and locker rooms are always clean. Planet fitness- Hazlet is a great place to work out. I come three days a week during the morning hours. It's busy but never overcrowded. Always clean and bright. I've observed staff , filling the cleaning stations, dusting, wiping equipment and vacuuming all the time. The staff is friendly and when needed very helpful. Ben, the manager runs a good crew. I do have one suggestion . In other Planet locations I have visited throughout the year some have a big clock , Like 3-4 feet in diameter. It would be so helpful to use that to count seconds between sets. Not so Much for the time although that's handy too. And the perfect location would be over the front area breezeway by the front entrance way just above the two shoulder press machines. This way there is almost 100% visibility to the clock. Too crowed. The front desk is no help. I was going to cancel, I only stayed a member because there now open 24/7. But now they closed overnight from Friday to Saturday. The sign said reopen 5am, arrived closed and said will open 6am, still closed. On the weekend, realy! I left and thinking of canceling my membership. Who runs this place? Why close on a Friday. Showed up at 1am as hours show they are 24/7 Monday through Thursday. Was super excited as I work late and haven't been to gym in a few months. Whatever the case I took the drive out from Red Bank. Get there doors are locked while 3 guys inside just wave me off then ignore me. I try to flag them again maybe I can call the store to get some classes. Could be an honest mistake like not updating hours on line. The two at the front counter just continued to talk and look right through me. At this point they turned their backs and walked to the back. The other guy a little further back in the store just waved to the guys as they left . Still I drove from Red Bank and just a courtesy to the customer would be nice. Maybe a hey yeah sorry about that. You know staffing. Pretty decent gym. Equipment well maintained with a variety of machines to exercise just about every part of the body. Even in close proximity, people here all mind their business, so we can all exercise without passing judgement calls. After working out, this place has amenities like hydro massage (water bed equivalent), tanning, massage chairs, and showers to help wind down and relax. After a day of trial membership, Logan Valentine from front desk signed me up and addressed all my concerns. Really courteous and knowledgeable. I joined Planet Fitness last year on April 7, 2023 I have what's called a flex card that I get through my medical insurance my Medicare they took $200 upfront for my membership for a year that was at $10 a month but that's how it had to go. I had to pay 200 upfront I just called to renew, now they'll take the 200 upfront plus charge my other credit card another hundred plus tax to renew my membership for something that's 1499 a month instead of renewing me at what I was already paying and they were getting more by taking $200 upfront now they want another hundred no thank you nothing like ripping off the government and me at the same time. So in review 12×1499 a month is$179.88 their commercial advertises a dollar down and no enrollment fee But they want me to pay the 200 from my insurance card and an enrollment fee $99.00 plus taxes. Again, nothing like ripping off the government and senior citizens. If I was to join without using my Medicare supplement, I pay a dollar down at $14.99 a month with no enrollment fee. Most of the Staff doesn't pay any attention and definitely didn't make you feel welcomed. They had a guy painting the equipment while people were using it at one point. The paint fumes were terrible for the older gentleman trying to work out . There is not enough ventilation either. Overall not good customer service. Would not recommend. read more

Very easy to join. Just know going in that their expectation is that it's a lifetime membership. It's nearly impossible to cancel. They do absolutely everything in their power avoid canceling your membership, from not returning your calls, to forcing you to go into to the club only to find no one is there to do it. Worst gym around, your better off paying the extra money at a decent gym. Trash equipment and unprofessional employees who stand around flirting with members instead of doing their job wiping down the machines. Fix your attitude and fix repair your godforsaken machines. Disgusting. Also telling people they can't use their phones in the building or talking while working out is out of line. Put a damn sign up then if those are your incoherent rules. I hadn't been to this gym for several months. I returned about 3 weeks ago, mid morning, just to use the exercise bike for 30'. During that time, I wore my headphones, and watched the tv. There was CONSTANT weight banging. Non stop clanking & crashing sounds.  I spoke with a young man at the desk, who said he was the manager (I didn't get his name.) As we were speaking, the banging was going on. He said he heard nothing, but would look into it. I returned a week later, late Saturday morning. Again,  I experienced hearing nonstop banging, crashing weight dropping. It felt like I was at a construction site. When I went into the toilet stall deep in the locker room, I even heard it there. At one point, there was a crash so loud, it sounded as if the weight had been dropped from 4 feet up. I watched guys at the machines visible from my bike. Some of them were just letting go of the weights from half way up. I stopped at the desk & spoke to a young lady who said she was the assistant manager. Her name I didn't get. I asked if the lunk alarm is a real thing - as implied by the tv ads - or just a decoration. She gave a chuckle & said it was just a decoration. A young man, also behind the desk, agreed. I indicated that I had spoken to the manager days earlier about the problem and that today it was worse. She asked me who was doing it! I don't know anyone in there, nor could I see all the equipment where it was happening! The young man said he didn't hear anything - as a loud crash was occurring. I asked him if he heard that? No response.  I have friends who use other planet fitness facilities around NJ & in other states where they have heard and seen the lunk alarm operate occasionally. One friend was told that the staff is trained in the usage of the lunk alarm. So, why is it just a decoration at this facility? From the young lady's expression & body language, I read that she was not taking me seriously. When I told her what I sensed, she cracked a big smile of embarrassment. I expressed my dissatisfaction at being treated so unprofessionally and left. The other fellow at the desk followed me out to my car. He introduced himself as Logan. He proceeded to defend the young lady and the no Lunk alarm usage. We had a short exchange regarding false advertising, keeping the customer satisfied & the disrespect toward the customer that they showed. His final comment was: "The customer is NOT always right, and you can cancel your membership." I'm so disgusted, I haven't been back since. read more

Everyone knows about planet fitness low prices, and the lunk alarm.... This is a great location., it's less than 5 minutes from my house., so I really have no excuse. They have a gazillion cardio machines, all of the essential strength machines. All new, very clean gym. Ac is on! Plenty of tvs! Very friendly front desk! Here on a weekend mid morning, plenty of people but not overly crowded, hope the weeknights are the same... As long as you apply yourself, you'll be able to get a full work out every visit. Review for PF in general as this location has nothing out of the ordinary: A cheap, no frills gym with a laid back (often too laid back) atmosphere for the casual gym attendee. They have a lot of cardio machines and the usual other machines you would see at a gym. I particularly like their bring a friend benefit with the black card membership as it is very convenient and not a hassle. I find using a mystery spray to wipe down the machines... mysterious, but I can't complain because of the price you pay for a membership. Ultimately, no matter what gym, you can't knock anyone that makes the effort to go in the first place, and no, texting and browsing your phone while hogging the machines while you do it does not count. read more

The place is a rip off. Took a couple of months for them to process my cancellation request. When they finally did, they charged my credit card account twice. Then they tried to blame that on the previous manager. Gym equipment is fair. Some equipment remains broken for months. Would not take much for their employees to put in the basic minimum. read more

I've been a black card member for 4 years so I have the ability to go to all the planet fitness gyms. This one is by far the dirtiest. The treadmills have dry skin, dirt, etc all over them. I don't know when the last time the place was cleaned, it's honestly disgusting and I don't think it's healthy for it to be this dirty. Just joined the gym and went last night. With that being said I didn't have a lock for a locker in the locker room and left my wallet and hoodie there not thinking twice. Well now I'm at a loss of $65 and it went missing in that time I was at the gym while my wallet was in a locker. From now on I won't be putting anything in that locker room as I am positive I know who took it because it's the only possible person as it was 11 at night and the gym was basically empty aside from cleaning crew. I'm extremely disappointed in what happened and I only hope this is not a reoccurring issue at the Hazlet planet fitness. read more

I got charged a late fee for no reason and contacted the gym. They told me they were going to be refunding me the charge. After a month I called to follow up after not receiving my refund and was told they could not refund me. Bad customer service and I will be cancelling my membership. read more

Planet Fitness female janitor and her child wander in male bathroom while in use if you complain they cancel your membership. Friend of staff also pretended to be manager to gang up on me. Corporate headquaters doesn't care. In fact, local franchise will snidely tell you that any complaint will just get referred back to them. Get what you pay for I guess. read more

I've been a member here for about 3 years and coming from a total meathead gym before this (JSFS, Bradley Beach), it was a nice change! I don't take advantage of the training packages...(and the trainers don't really seem like "Trainers" per say, just guys who stand around looking bored counting reps for older women who THINK they're getting a real training experience.) But it has what I need, I always feel like I've gotten a good workout and its nice to see the same people every day around the same time. The front desk could stand to be a little friendlier, they also seem kind of bored and despondent, too. For $10 a month, definitely worth it. You get out what you put in. read more

Just joined this gym as a black card member about a week ago. I absolutely love this gym the staff is super friendly and so is everyone who goes there. I have never had an issue so far. Some of the treadmills don't work but thereplenty so it's not really a problem. I love the hours for the gym as well it's really convenient. There is a lot of things to do. This is a dirty/filthy gym! Last Saturday I walk in at 0800, stop in the mens room to pee, the stink is terrible, I walk up to the only urinal (1 urinal for the men's room) and to my disgust some low life to a dump in the urinal! Needless to say I couldn't pee and left the damn locker room disgusted that I joined this filthy gym. Too many times I have walked into the men's locker room to find the paper towel trash bin overflowing on to the floor, the urinal broken, did I mention there is only 1 urinal, dirty place. Maybe its my fault I joined this cheap gym, I guess you get what you pay for....guess I will be looking to move on to another gym in 2018 and I won't mind paying for cleanliness.... read more

The staff is absolutely terrible. They never say hello or goodbye and I constantly have to wait for them to get off their phone to hold the scanner for me to check in. The place is also a mess and bathroom is disgusting. If it wasn't so cheap I'd leave this gym. I guess you get what you pay for? read more

Nice gym. It is on the smaller side so when you go at peak time it can feel extremely crowded. This gym is definitely on the cleaner side compared to the other more expensive gyms in the area. I did read the complaint about people using the 30 minute area when they are not doing the circuit. I am one of those people and the reason I go in there is not to mess up anyone's routine but it does have different equipment then what they have on the main floor. I always make sure I am not in anyone's way. I have never seen that area ever really crowded to mess anyone's recounting. So the complaint was truly unnecessary. If they can find a bigger space they should definitely move and bring in more equipment. It would be an even better gym. read more

decently clean and equipment is generally well taken care of. not sure the mystery spray that they give you to spray on the equipment after use actually cleans it or kills germs but hopefully the staff is doing a more thorough cleaning at some point. i was surprised and disappointed when i found out the gym closes extremely early on weekends-7pm-as i work and was hoping to work out afterwards but they are open 24 hours during the week. hopefully they change that and extend the hours on the weekend. staff is reasonably friendly and it's never been so crowded i'm uncomfortable. i've made good use of the tanning beds and bring your friend benefits. read more
