I would love to know what gym the owners go to because they obviously do not attend their own, or they would be able to acknowledge recognize and be willing to remedy the concerns. the owners are cheap tightwads and do not invest in their customers or clientele. Go to Roberts Rd, Sawmill Rd, or Bethel and pay attention to, or consider: 1. The ratio of people using weights to the actual number of dumbbells and barbells. 2. The volume of attendees throughout the day and throughout the week indicate membership is up so... 3. Despite the failing quality, items are rarely updated or replaced - FOR EXAMPLE- a gym in Pensacola updates their equipment regularly-,they just closed down to remodel THE ENTIRE PLACE- and their membership and attendance is nothing compared to Columbus and the cost of living and the cost of doing business is not significantly greater in Columbus ... so regardless of the excuse, the owners have it's insufficient they have the customers they just wanna take the money and run, but obviously they don't want to run at their own gyms.... I wonder what gym they belong to? What's not to love here? I went along with my husband as a guest. I found free weights racked, weight machine attachments neatly arranged, and the three cardio machines I randomly tried all worked perfectly and were clean. No I would not recommend going to this gym they have horrible security cameras no security at all cars keep getting broken into over 10 cars at once and it keep's happening I understand that they can't control that but with all that money I'm spending there and others you would think they have a better security camera system I'm a college student and paid over 1,000 dollars in damages for my car. read more

Very clean, lots of space, friendly staff. It took a lot for me to walk in and I'm so glad I did. Immediately became a member.

I joined online for $10/month. It's right down the road from home, so it's a very convenient location. I stopped in a few nights later to pick up my pass and free t-shirt. The 2 young women at the front desk were a little awkward and knew nothing about the voided check requirement as stated on my welcome email. A guy behind the desk stepped up and said it wasn't necessary. I was not offered a tour and wasn't working out that night so I left. I came back to work out a couple of nights later and asked for a tour, which I got by a nice woman who also explained the 30 min. workout room and the 12 min. abs room, etc. There is also a room for stretching, with mats. The drinking fountain has a spot to refill your water bottle quickly. Cool. I heard they have free pizza and bagels, but have yet to see. There are bowls of tootsie rolls in the front waiting area. It's a pretty nice gym, larger than I expected, with lots of cardio equipment, so no waiting. I like the separate rooms and the restroom/locker rooms seemed clean. I also went in with my daughter to pick up her membership card and they asked her if she wanted a white or black t-shirt. What? I wasn't given a choice. There are a line of flat screen tv's hung across the length of the cardio area, and you can plug in and tune to the one you want to listen to. If you step it up to $20/month, your membership highlights include tanning, hydromassage, and use of massage chairs. They are also having a special through this month, $99/year. I wasn't sure I wanted to commit, but it's something to consider. I had a good workout and look forward to going back on a regular basis. read more

I upgraded the rating from a 1 star to a 3 stars because they have improved the amount of staff they keep at the front desk during rush hours and they implemented better systems for keeping track of who is waiting on tanning. Decent 24 hour gym for the price. I still don't care for their encouragement of mediocrity through pizza, tootsie rolls and beagles. Also, they need to get rid of the 10 minute ab area. There is too much congestion around the dumbbell area. I would recommend that they remove the 10 minute ab area and add another rack of dumbbells in that area and a row machine for upper body cardio. Hopefully someone at corporate reads this and invest in space optimization. read more

I don't know what the dude before me was thinking when he wrote his review but this gym rocked my socks. I met an awesome trainer today, great staff and friendly people at the gym in general. I can't wait to make this my home gym soon, because with that kind of mentality I will love the place in no time. There are a few kinks to the place but what place doesn't have its kinks? This place is twice the size of my previous gym, double points there, locker rooms are twice the size as the other locations I've seen. More workout room for me without having to worry about getting in someones space. Next this place has the stair master which I have not seen at any other location I've been to as well. Some people hate the stair master but I like that devil to a point. I'm so excited to see what else this gym can offer me.:) read more

It is a smaller location than the one I am used to in Texas, however, it is well maintained. Customer Service: Other than the branch manager Veronica and staff member Kaleb, I could careless for the rest of the staff. Some are a little off putting and others are rude. Quality/Quantity: The quality of this branch is great, while members are expected to clean the equipment, this place is very very clean. The quantity for most of the equipment is more than enough. You don't feel like you are waiting for someone to finish working out at a machine to get your fix in. Side Notes: I would ignore the staff and just workout. This is a great gym. $10 a month, open all day everyday and has a lot of equipment. Also has things like massaging stations and tanning, but it's at an extra cost. A lot of people make fun of this gym (I was once told it's a Curves for men). It has a "no judgement" policy, and some say that there isn't much as far as free weights. If you are super into body building, then yeah, this probably isn't your place. But for average people looking to shed a few, or tone up, then this is a great place to come. One thing I find strange is that they offer food a lot. But not healthy options, like bananas or apples, but pizza and doughnuts? Nice gesture, but weird. read more

It's a standard PF, which is all good things, IMO. I used to go to the one in Clintonville that was busy at all hours of the day; this one definitely has down times, which I like. PF is inexpensive, clean, has plenty of machines, and they have added some new circuits since I was last going regularly that I might want to learn how to use. I've been to about five of the planet fitness locations in Columbus area and this one by far is my favorite. The staff at most are a bit disconnected, this one the majority acknowledge you when checking in and leaving. A few will even smile at you throughout the gym. The personal trainer Paul by far is the best. He will say hi to you by name and will give you a little pep talk or encouragement. Nice guy. Equipment is good, more than not in good working order. The people that go there are mostly cool and easy going. Overall, it's a good spot to workout and get a good start or finisher to the day. read more

Love this gym. I have been a member at other local gyms and have left to stick with Planet. The staff are always super friendly, it's clean (although too many members think they're special and don't have to wipe off their machines so staff pick up the slack), always plenty of machines and free weights even during busy times. Locker rooms are big and clean, the water fountain is always running, and billing is easy. I only had one minor billing issue when I changed accounts but it was resolved quickly. I recommend this gym for regular people looking for a clean, safe place to workout. read more

I really like this place - and I'm not a fan of gyms in general. This place is so big that, even when it's busy, you rarely have to wait for a machine. There's plenty of cardio equipment, and people of all fitness levels feel welcome here. I highly recommend getting the "Black Card." It's totally worth it for the use of the massage beds and chairs and (if you're into it) the unlimited tanning. I use a ten-minute hydro-massage at the end of my workout as the carrot at the end of the stick that gets me into the gym on many days. read more

For me this is the right gym to go to. I like that it's open 24 hours because my work has me working different hours all the time. The gym is relatively clean every time I come in and there's plenty of different options to get a full exercise. The staff for the most part are always nice and happy to greet you. There are some staff that do not go by this and tend to not pay attention to things or people. They do offer free Wi-Fi which I have never had a problem with, I've heard in the past it would drop quite a bit. Over the past year or so it has not done that to me. One other thing I am not a big fan of is that they do pizza at the beginning Monday of every month. I understand it is a tactic to get people to come in and sign up to work out, but it leads to a lot of people just eating pizza while on machines and causes backups. This place was once ran real well but since re opening they are are rude, staff changed and their attitudes are awful. You can't use the lockers, showers or even sit on a bench. It's not a gym anymore. Now they require masks. At a fitness facility? How stupid is this. Gone too far. Not many people in there anyway anymore and it's not because of the virus it's because of the stupid rules they have and wearing of masks. Very few in there. I cancelled my membership last week. I wish that the "tanners" would go to a salon because you honestly muddy up the place even more then it already is. The wee hour staff from 4:00 am to 5:30 am is all pretty nice and always cleaning the place up. I have went at all hours and this crew is by far earning their money. High intensity interval training is the best way to get into shape. A big reason why men lose weight easier than women is because women only do cardio and don't lift. Knee problems in women who run are from a lack of strength in the hamstrings and quads. Simply put - everyone needs to lift to lift FREE weights. However, Planet Fitness doesn't think you should use free weights. Using machines is a terrible way to go about developing strength. You develop absolutely no balance and only train your muscles in a specific range of motion. The movements are not natural at all and setting up the equipment wrong or even just pushing wrong can ruin any of the joints involved in the movement. Free weights are so much better for both building strength and for safety. Yet Planet Fitness thinks that you should use the machines and is slowly banning free weight lifts. There is a reason this gym is the laughing stock amongst most personal trainers and athletes. read more

This has to be one of the worst PF I've came in contact with. The manager Victoria is extremely rude and condescending. I went in November to cancel my membership. My year was up in April! to find I'm still being charged monthly fee, accompanied by an annual $41.93 fee. Victoria indicated I would be credited (after pulling teeth) it's almost the third week and still no credit. I left several messages with corporate which I obtained on my own. Great gym and bang for the buck overall. I like that I can tan too between vacations and summer so I don't get burnt when it comes around. If you visit during peak hours it is annoying when people come in to just tan and not work out. (I would feel a bit guilty) This location does attract "lunks" that are against there philosophy and rules and they seem to all know the staff well. I witnessed two arguments almost turned fights over some guys fighting over weights or something. I talked with the staff and it ended up being a employee but he no longer employed there to say the least. The staff members at the desk are rather impersonal and are clearly enjoying the team gossip at the desk. It is what it is and that's a cheap gym with a few perks and many locations that you hop to as you travel as well. read more

I went in tonight to try and sign my son up for a membership, i'm already a black card member and brought my daughter. I was told that they weren't really signing people up right now, that their system wasn't working and they were short staffed. I said what am I supposed to do with my extra person and I was told I could come back tomorrow. I asked for a manager and was told by Zach that there was no supervisor now they trust him to do his job. He was more then willing to help the gentlemen standing there and then told my daughter who has been there with me multiple times that she wasn't old enough that she has to be 13 when she's 15. He totally disregarded me and kept helping others while I asked for a manger whom he said he doesn't know what he works with or when they will be in. read more

Recently they have done a much better job keeping the cleanliness of the tanning beds. They also recently switched over to an electronic entry system so that you scan your badge which is much easier than the previous manual entry of the member number. It's a great value for the cost. read more

I've been attending this PF for the last few months because it's a convenient location for me. Up until now I've had all positive experiences. The machines are clean and new, the staff was friendly, and the facilities appear well taken care of. Tonight I was disappointed. A friend and I (his first PF experience) went into the gym and saw the 30-minute circuit room. We decided to use it because it seemed less daunting than the free weights and machines near the front of the gym. We stopped in and read all of the signs- 1 explaining how the circuit works and another stating that this area is "for the 30 minute circuit only!". We started our workout and there was one other man doing the circuit also. We weren't paying too much attention to others in the room because we were focused on the workout, but we heard the gentleman confront a younger guy who came into the circuit room. The younger guy was using just 1 of the machines for multiple sets although the rules on the wall clearly state that the machines are to be used in order. Not being one to make a fuss, I probably would not have said anything to the guy unless he refused to move when my circuit hit that machine. However, the gentleman who confronted him was not wrong in that he wasn't using the room for its intended purpose and it was disruptive to those who were. The room is designed on 60 second intervals where each machine is used during the green light and you rest during the red light period. When members come in and randomly use the machines, it throws off those using the machines in order, as PF intended per their large purple signs posted in the room. The problem for me really started when the younger guy was rude to the gentleman who confronted him and refused to move from the machine. The man got a staff member who did nothing to help the situation, stating he was "not his babysitter" and this wasn't his job (although this is exactly his job). He treated the man like he was the one acting inappropriately although the man was the one following gym rules. Another young female member of staff came also when the same young guy kept coming in and out of the 30-minuts circuit room. She also was no help whatsoever. Neither staff member explained the intended use of the room to the young man or warned him to use it correctly. The young woman stayed and watched, loudly exclaiming that she had to watch the room because "people can't act like adults". This statement was not aimed toward the young man who used the circuit room as a weight room, but toward the three of us members who were using the room as instructed. She also complained audibly to other members of staff and to other gym members. This was completely unprofessional on all fronts. For a gym that preaches inclusivity, it certainly catered to the rule-breakers tonight. It was not we, the customers, who invented the 30 minute circuit room. It was PF. To treat paying members who use it correctly as though they are being crazy or being a bother is wrong and it's bad business. It certainly left a sour taste in my mouth, and I'm not one to anger easily. Now seems like as good a time as any to mention that the staff, all in their teens and early 20's lean on the counters on their phones for much of the afternoon and evenings when I'm there. read more

I joined when this gym opened December 2013 and am a very pleased patron. For only $20/mo (one yr contract) all gym equipment, tanning, total body enhancement (I have not used the total body enhancement yet) message chairs and beds included. This is truly a "no judgment" kind of gym for all body types. I love this concept. The employees are very friendly and helpful as well as very good about cleanliness. The locker rooms are spacious and very clean. Plenty of lockers and showers... I personally love the specialized rooms (30 minute total workout and abs room). Even when the gym is crowded you can always use equipment in those rooms because you rotate machines every two minutes. I checked the box "not good for kids" b/c they don't offer child care. I have a daughter and I don't mind this b/c my husband watches her while I have "Mom time". I feel good and look better than ever at a reasonable price thanks to Planet Fitness! read more

Do not under any circumstances stand and read their membership terms and conditions on that tiny credit card screen by the center cash register. Tell them you want pieces of paper printed out and in front of you, or you're not signing a thing. They'll sneer at you for it, but they'll get over it and you'll be better off. Read everything very carefully. They're making a ton of money by not telling you when those twice a year balloon fees will hit your checking account. Why don't they take credit cards? There are consumer protections built into credit cards which don't exist by direct debit from checking accounts. Make them spell out every dime of your fees on paper, get those terms and conditions in your hand and take them home. Know when your fees are due, and when the balloon fees will hit. The twice yearly extra fees mean they're no cheaper than their competitors. read more

I have been going to planet fitness in Hilliard for at over 2 years ,have allways had a great experience until the end of Feburary when my van was broke into.The staff told me they were going to get cameras and apparently the row I was on, was getting hit often..I know at least ten members that go to this gym and have made them aware of what happened.That may not seem like a lot of people but they have friends too.I would hate to have to move my membership to another gym staff has always been so friendly, however I may not have a choice. read more

This is a good gym for the price. Plenty of equipment to keep you occupied for basic workouts. They have a good number of cardio machines, but it would be nice if they had some newer models of ellipticals. I would also like to see them invest in some nicer mats, theraband products, stability balls, etc. I've been disappointed in the staff of every PF I've ever been to, and this one fits the same mold. They are there for the paycheck and to hang out and that's it. Maybe a hello and goodbye if you're lucky. They will also keep you coming there by trying to tempt you with tootsie rolls, bagel days, and pizza days. They are starting to get some wear on the machines (cracks along cushions) but overall the place is usually very clean. I typically go here around 6-7pm on weeknights and 9-11am on weekends and have no issues with utilizing cardio equipment. However, the dumbbell area gets pretty crowded on weeknights. Love this gym! Transferred in June from one membership at LA Fitness to two black memberships at Planet Fitness for less money and my husband doesn't mind going to this one by himself! Staff is super friendly and they are always cleaning. I have not seen it get congested however typically don't go between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. This is now our favorite date - work out and grab a beer at Lucky's afterwards - Need to stay hydrated!! read more
