I get to work out, tan and watch cable for $19.99/month. It gets busy when most people are out of work, but there's tons of equipment. The staff are cool to talk to and I like that they make time to clean! The 360 machine and Arc trainers are my favorite so make sure to try those. A bonus is that their tanning lotions are pretty cheap compared to what tanning salons sell them for. Just make sure you bring your goggles every time you wanna tan because they will ask. read more

I have asked for months to order new cushions for the torn ones on the machines in the express circuit. All I ever hear when I question the staff is that they're on order. It's been at least 6 months and no results. Also there's no fan or a/c in the express circuit. Why????? And if you have a/c in the gym is it set to go on at 80 degrees because I don't feel any! I'm not a very paranoid person but since I was the only one standing there and they bursted out laughing for no reason, it left me to assume they were laughing at me. She has worked for us for 6+ years and has nothing but positive customer feedback. I was not part of the situation, not saying it could have not been handled better, but she has a very positive track record.  Teri was correct it telling you that the limit of times you can visit is 10. After the 10th time their is a $5 franchise fee for the day. If you are to use another club besides your home club 10+ times per month it is highly recommended that you are to transfer your membership. On the business side not that it matters so much to but but ensures the proper franchisee receives the dues for the club they use. I am sorry your home club did not explain this to you upon signing up. This is our policy nation wide.  As for my staff not giving out my phone she was correct again. Leaders of the business such as Justin my manager at Lansing and myself are allowed to have peaceful days off. We have employees that are hired such as Teri to help us manage the business adhere to policies so we can enjoy them.   If you would still like to cancel you can do it one of 2 ways. You can either cancel in person at your home club or send them a certified letter with your request and signature. All of the 1800 clubs are not connected so I have no access to your account to even try to help you cancel.  Once again I apologize to you about the incident. So yes in this case she demonstrated her complete ignorance as she could have stated that Planet Fitness chooses to do business view email and not on the phone.  She even state that you have no contact with the club outside of email, and they have no way to contact you other than email.  As return home tomorrow I will cancel my membership at my home gym. And the best part....they don't have a single scale in the gym because it apparently means your being judged if you want to see what your weight is and Planet Fitness is a no-judgement zone, but yet they blare an alarm if someone sets a weight down too hard...WTF???? I've worked out long enough I understand knuckleheads slamming weights down, showing off they just curled 30lbs by dropping the weight from a standing position, but no the stupid f*ing alarm goes off for FAR FAR LESS than that! This gym is pretty nice for what it is...for the soccer moms, students, the New Years resolution athletes...really not too bad, just don't expect much if you're a serious weight lifter, also expect to wait for equipment during evening and lunch hours. But aside from that, if you approach it from the right angle it's clean, good staff (me personally never had a problem with the staff, there's a kinda short red head girl and guy with a trimmed beard that are really great, don't know their names), you can get a pretty decent workout, and can't beat the price. If you go expecting it to be a Gold's or Powerhouse gym or LA Fitness, then you'll be disappointed, but that's pretty much your fault because that is not Planet Fitness. They are spreading like cockroaches and I really hope they don't start putting the real gyms out of business. read more

This gym is becoming more and more ridiculous by the day. The facility is clean, the staff is mediocre, the gym is full of machines and cardio equipment. The busiest area, without question, is the pit (free-weight area). Unfortunately, it's full of people who are serious about fitness, the people Planet Fitness is trying to discourage from patronizing their establishment. This area caters to the gym regulars. You don't make money with this business model by having people frequent your gym, you instead rely on the slothfullness of the target consumer to sign up for a membership and never cancel. It's only $10 a month after all. How do you further discourage the semi-serious and serious weight lifters? You stack a bunch of machines in the pit and reduce capacity. It was hard enough to get a place to stand here before this, now it's nearly impossible to navigate the masses to get to the rack. I've accepted that they don't have any benches or squat racks here. The closest thing they have to either is a smith machine (always a significant wait for these). But for $10 a month I'll make do. This gym is good if you're looking to do cardio in off hours. I had the worst experience I went To work out wore a pair of black shorts to work out in I've worn them there several times have never had a problem but tonight . This red head girl worker came up to me and told me that I needed to leave because of my shorts or that I needed to change I told her I have never had a problem before and she had a very bad attitude and gave me so much disrespect . The gym has updated machines which is a plus. Lots of room. Cool atmosphere. However, I've never been to a gym where they have towels to wipe down the machines. I did not want to touch the same towel that is full of someone else's sweat. How is that sanitary? On several occasions she has been rude, lazy, combative, and unhelpful.The other workers are very decent people and have been very helpful. Frustrated as a new customer. They told me when I registered that I should attend one of the "intro to machines" classes so I can properly use the equipment. The person who helped me join said I just show up and sit under the class sign during the times designated on the schedule. All "intro to machines" classes are during the day except for one on Thursday nights. I haven't been using my membership very much because I don't know how to use many of the machines and I usually have Thursday night work commitments so I haven't taken the class. Today I made time to come and brought someone with me who was interested in joining. The class never started, even though I asked about it when I checked in. When I questioned the staff about it they finally brought the manager over who told me those classes are by appointment only....which is not how they are listed on their sign. He said I'd have to come back. My friend decided not to join and I am regretting it myself. The few times I've used my membership the staff haven't been friendly or knowledgeable so I was looking forward to understanding how things work. In other places I've lived its standard even you join and pay for a gym membership to take you on a tour and explain the machines when you register so you can start right away. No wonder this gym is so inexpensive. You get what you pay for. read more

I do quite a bit of traveling and have been to about 10 different Planet Fitness Locations. This one is by far the nicest one I have been to. The staff is very nice and welcoming, the equipment is great.....I get a wonderful work out, go tanning, and enjoy the wonderful hydro massage bed. I am always shocked whenever I hear people complain about Planet Fitness I really don't know how anyone could not love this gym. And for only $20/month for all the perks and to be able to travel around to the different locations, this one in particular deserves a 5 star rating! read more

I used to go here a lot and after you used a machine, you had to walk to a nearby garbage and wipe off your machine with a paper towel and sanitizer. Lately they made holders for them at each machine so you don't have to share and they have clean rags you can wipe them off now instead of paper towels. I like that. The gym is perfect for my needs. It's always clean, the employees are always nice and I can usually find the machine I need it right when I get there. Alarm goes off at least twice every time I'm there. I went up and asked them why they keep setting off the alarm and they claim it's because someone dropped weights. I hadn't noticed and decided to keep an eye out when the alarm went off again. No one had dropped weights and this time my boyfriend went up to them. When he asked they said "well maybe you shouldn't be dropping weights and the alarm wouldn't go off." Very rude to him. He was holding his weights when the alarm went off. WHAT A RIP OFF!!! I joined here less than a month ago and it was $40 to sign up plus $15 for a month to month, no contract membership. Not only did I sign up less than 2 hours BEFORE a $10 sign up special only to have them tell me "oh, well" when I asked if they might extend it to me, I never went even once during that month I was actually a member. Figuring so, I decided to cancel. I was a member for less than a month and these assholes charged me ANOTHER $40 at the end of that same month even though online they said the membership fee isn't charged to your account until June 1st. Nope! They still get the $40 even if you've been a member for less than a month and decide to cancel and it's before June because you have to cancel 5 days before the end of the month or else they fuck you. Planet fitness is honestly a parody of itself and so very far away from representing the principles that the original founder built the gym based on. This is supposed to be a place where ordinary people who love fitness, want to be in shape, are already in shape, or want to improve their fitness level can go and workout in a non-competitive environment. Instead the gym simply promotes the antithesis of this. Speaking specifically about this facility by omission they promote obesity and a general low level of fitness by having staff members constantly harass anyone that is in shape, strong, or obviously currently or formerly an athlete, or those individuals who workout above a whisper. If you are in shape and want to maintain and improve your fitness level find another gym before shooting yourself in the foot. Find a gym that promotes having a high level of fitness like Genesis fitness down the street. I had membership at this PF until I just couldn't take the harassment by the staff anymore because my exercise exertions and weightlifting was audible and I was apparently stronger and more fit than everyone around me. However, if you are extremely out of shape, disabled, recovering from sickness or injury, or just want to use the treadmills for 10 minutes twice per week this is the gum for you. read more

The desk help is the worst. The assistant manager name Ashley basically yelled at the clerk when asking a question regarding my inquire. The clerk asked her something, she started acting like it was a total inconvenience and rudely said "what" and the clerk said you have to look at this and she huffed over while rolling her eyes. Um. There is a stellar act of customer service there, Ashley. I had paid my entire 12 month contract and was there to cancel my membership. My year anniversary was less than a month a way and Ashley said I had to come back after that anniversary date to cancel or it would be a $58 cancellation fee. I said I wasn't cancelling it early, that I had paid. She insisted that I would have to come back after the anniversary date or send a certified letter (which would cost me about another $10). So, if I sent out a letter tomorrow, still before the anniversary date, that would work. How retarded is that???? Luckily, I had my cell phone in my hand and got most of the conversation recorded.
