This location has plenty of room to get a workout in. I've only had to wait for a piece of equipment a few times and it's usually not that long. My favorite thing about this gym is that the equipment is usually in good shape and clean. The perks that you get with the black card are pretty awesome and it's affordable. I've been a "Black Card" Member for about three years and have never reviewed them! Planet Fitness is extremely convenient for me in location and hours...that is their biggest plus for me. Second is their services--they have a great assortment of mental health/fringe things to help you stay as close to 100% as possible. They have a good personal trainer introduction available--even for your black card guest. You can use it anywhere there is a Planet Fitness. Their App is cool. Clean stations are plentiful. They have a summer program for your teen to workout free!! Now for the cons. It is expensive, but predictable. The App seems to be compatible with the equipment, but I have never been successful getting it to link up. They are legalistic--with tanning they have a rigid 24 hour rule. If you go 4 minutes of a possible 9 minutes at 6:43pm, don't try to go 4 more minutes at 5:20pm the next day...that violates policy. Common sense doesn't apply to the keepers of the gate. The clean equipment rule is every man for himself. I clean before and after...because I see way too many folks only clean before they use it. Gross! They don't have a way for your guest, even with upcharge, to easily enjoy the black card amenities in the back--hydro massage, for example. This leaves the primary member feeling...guilty or judged in a supposed "judgement free" zone. All in all, if there was a gym closer to my home with similar amenities, I'd consider them. They just completed a remodel of about a month. Its a shame because it was better before it was "improved" The new lockers are smaller and I needed to buy a smaller lock to fit the hasp along with a smaller gym bag to fit. There used to be benches in front of the lockers that went around the room. Thats been removed and replaced with a few small metal benches that accommodate about 4 people total. With about 150 or so lockers thats a big step backwards. There are many older people using this gym that need the seating to put on shoes and get dressed, now you can sit on the floor if you want. I talked to several people there and no one is happy with this change. A huge step backwards in being user friendly. read more

This is a great planet fitness! It's a fairly large gym with a lot of equipment. It is always clean and well maintained, and machines that malfunction seem to be fixed in a timely manner. The parking lot is large and there's plenty of parking as well. The only downside is that this location is quite busy in the evenings, however that being said there's plenty of machines and gym equipment that the number of people there should not be a an issue! Additionally it's hard to argue with how affordable membership is! 10$ for the basic package and 20$ for the step up. For the 20$ fee you can bring a guest with you for free - enjoy the massage area, discounts on drinks, and the tanning (proceed with caution on that though!) read more

The PF Madison gym was great before its recent renovation. The renovation removed seating in the locker room and several TVs. Since much of the time in a gym for many people are on aerobic machines watching TV on programing they like. Prior to the renovation 3 TVs had Fox news now it is down to one placed on the far left on the TV array that runs across the front of the gym. If you work out on aerobic machines on the right side of the gym you're out of luck if you want to see fox or any conservative programing. If you want to see CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC it's prefect. Management at the Madison PF gym stated he had no control over the TVs. However, the Planet Fitness many of used during the renovation with a similar TV array had two fox channels one for the left and right side of the gym. This should be an easy fix but for some reason it's not. read more

I really like Planet Fitness. They have very modern exercise equipment and a lot of it. Even when busy, you can access to your favorite equipment. The employees are very friendly when you check in and they leave you alone during your work-out, but they have certified trainers if you need assistance. The row of TVs with a wide selection of channels, are audio linked to the exercise equipment. The TVs entertain you and make your work-out go faster. Customers range from first-timers to elite exercise junkies across all age and economic ranges. PF's truly lives up to their "judgement free zone" motto. The facilities are immaculate; they are constantly cleaning the equipment, floors, and locker rooms. In additional to exercise equipment they have massage chairs, tanning beds, hydro-massage, and refreshments with a Black Card membership. You can't find a better place to exercise for just $10/month. read more

I froze my membership due to COVID-19 concerns. I continued being charged. Wen in person to cancel membership an asked for a refund for the month. I did this on the day my account was charge. First, this place has a vast number of machines. This is one of the best equipped PFs I've been to. And for a PF it's quite clean. So why just 3 stars? The management. You can't get massage chair coins and an aqua massage session at the same time. You have to pick one and then come back up. And why only 2 massage chair coins at a time? Only two times in last year has there been another person using one at the same time as me - people aren't banging down the door to use them. The other PFs I've been to aren't nearly as rigid. Maybe the others aren't following the rules but they sure do make for a much more pleasant experience. read more

Extremely rude, disparaging and dismissive employees whether on the phone or face to face. There is a distinct difference in how some of your employees interact with white patrons as opposed to African-American patrons. My colleagues and I visited your location several times while on a business trip (NASA Research Park). My white colleagues even observed a difference on how some of your employees speak and communicate with non-white patrons. 1. Your employees rarely answer the phone regardless of the time of day. The majority of the calls go to voicemail. And most calls were NOT returned. 2. The 2 calls answered during our 3 weeks working at NASA were answered by employees who are not capable of answering a direct question. They are good at deflecting or changing the subject. Neither employee was nice nor professional. 3. The gym was not clean during our visits. Some of your employees use their work time as a social hour to flirt or network with other patrons for better jobs while ignoring some of the partons. 4. There was some missing equipment and faulty machines. When my colleague asked for substitute dumb bells and explanation after demonstrating the inoperable machine your employee laughed and shrugged their shoulders. Guess critical thinking and professionalism is NOT required at this location. read more

Closest gym to my home, and open 24/7 so that's great, but not a lot of options in this area. Growth in Madison is rapid, so maybe some other options will open up soon. Staff is not friendly. They congregate at check in and keep to themselves. Hate that they have CNN all over the gym. At least broadcast all the liars, or none at all. read more

i was not shown any hydro massage, locker rooms or tanning beds etc. i was only shown the fitness area. I was disapointed, also, with the fact that the person showing me around did not show an interest in finding the right equipment for my specific needs. I do not think this is a place for anyone who is elderly or people who as i mentioned fragile. I do not think the people there know anything about physical therapy or any kind of exercises. Just some of the equipment. As i found out the one who was showing me around did not even know how to use/instruct on certain things. this is just my thoughts on it as best i can recall. read more

Make sure you READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE CANCELLING your membership. They will find loopholes and their website is not consistent with their contract. So... I just got screwed out of $40 annual fee because I followed the instructions on their website to cancel by the 10th with a certified letter BUT since my contract said the 25th of the previous month was the "letter date", I still had to pay the annual fee. They were not willing to refund me, either. Other than that, I guess their business is fine. read more

Just opened, I got the elite membership for $20 a month. Very nice facility, every bit of the equipment is new. Great location in Madison.

My experience here has been a good one. Lots of machines, lots of available machines in the daytime during "bankers" hours. I've not been anytime after 4 to know how crowded. My only thing is it definitely smells like a gym. LOL. Maybe that is something for them to look into. Ha! read more

Good, cheap gym for the casual patron....HOWEVER...They have a huge sign on the front window that says OPEN 24 HOURS...and then underneath, it says M-F 5AM-12AM, SAT/SUN 7AM-7PM. Last time I checked, that's not 24 hours. Wouldn't have joined if I knew that was the case, as my ideal time to go to the gym is around 2 AM due to my work schedule. read more
