The best part of the gym is that the classes allow each member to go at their own pace so it was a fit for the beginner who had never been to a gym before (like me when I started there) to the person who's been working out their whole life. And of course safety was first and foremost as the trainers made sure each lift, exercise was done properly by each person or you wouldn't do it and a substitute exercise would be given. I really wish I had the time to get back to it but in the meantime, more room for you!

The club is always clean, including bathrooms, and equipment is rarely down for maintenance. When it is down, it is repaired ASAP. The owner, Lee, takes pride in his gym and his work and it shows. Otto emailed me back and told me to come in and the first workout was on him. I showed up with my gloves and wraps all the way from San Diego. Let me tell you, this place is badass! It's located inside an old brick building. It has the feel of an old school boxing gym with a modern touch. I was greeted by Cauleen (I hope that's how you spell her name) at the front desk and she put the group through a tough boxing workout. She even held the pads for each person, that was cool as f&@k! I was able to hit the fight club 3 out of the 5 days I was in town. Each workout was different and you throw lots of different combinations! If you live in Milwaukee or the surrounding area I suggest you give this fight club a try. P.S. I noticed next door they also have a CrossFit gym. With several class offerings, an inclusive…read moreand energetic atmosphere, and facilities that make you feel like you're training to fight Ali himself, Dropout Fight Club is something you need to experience. All it took was one class and I'm a believer. Typically I'm not one to attend fitness classes because most of them are things you can do in just about any gym. That's not the case at Dropout. They not only run you through a high intensity workout, but teach you boxing fundamentals along the way. Walker was the instructor for my small class on a Friday evening and he did a killer job. He encouraged us to work hard all class, but was also supportive if someone felt they needed a break. And most likely you will need a break at some point! It was four rounds of high intensity bag work and functional fitness movements. Without a doubt, Dropout Fight Club gave me one of the best workouts of my life. Classes are a little on the pricey side, but they offer a truly phenomenal experience that you just can't get anywhere else. It is absolutely worth every penny. The only negative about Dropout Fight Club is that you can't see it from the road. The address listed takes you to what looks like an abandoned warehouse (actually it was a battery factory), but the gym is way in the back of the building. I've included a couple of pictures to help first timers find there way in. If you park on Keefe, you can walk around the fence to a gate that lets you into the parking lot. From there you walk all the way to the back and you'll see the sign. Once inside the building there are several businesses already running or being built. The grunge of the building makes it feel like you're walking into an underground fight club. All in all, I give Dropout my highest recommendation. I hope to see this business thrive over the next few years.

It was busy when I went (5:30pm on a Monday) which made getting a leg or arm circuit done on the weight machines a bit tricky. Now, if you wanted to use an elliptical or other cardio equipment those machines were mostly open. Some things I absolutely loved about this WAC location: The indoor track inside (9 laps = one mile). In the winter, it's like you're walking in a snow globe. There are huge floor to ceiling windows that offer great city views. The staff! Very warm, helpful, patient and kind. The steam room and sauna in the locker rooms. Keys to lockers are provided as well as towels and there's shaving cream in the locker room showers. Free parking so long as you download the parking app used here and scan the QR code before leaving the gym (parking is free for up to 3 hours). Olympic size/caliber weight room on the second floor (this gym is only two floors and does not have a gym). After my one day workout sesh, will I be back? If I lived downtown on the east side of the city then yes I would hop on the WAC train and member up. But being a 15 minute drive from downtown, and not always in the mood to workout after work I don't think I will be calling this gym "mine" any time soon. Regardless, it was a lot of fun to try this location out and to see the nice amenities the WAC has to offer downtown.

While one of the smaller WACs, it has lovely views of the city from its location on the 6th floor of the 411 building. Theres an indoor track that runs along the outside of the gym, and a second floor (the 5th) has more weight training areas and another group exercise studio. They do a lot of classes if you're into that sort of thing, and while the equipment isn't super fancy it gets the job done and there isn't usually too long of a weight fot anything. The great thing about the WAC is I consider it a "full service" type of club with free lockers, towels, coffee, very nice showers and other services (for a fee ) like PT and massage. The WAC is more expensive than a planet fitness but you definitely get what you pay for here No pool sadly at this site but there is a steam room (and maybe a sauna?) In the locker room. Nice friendly environment to work out in - 5 stars!

One last tip: On your way down the steep hill, borrow a walking stick that you'll find on the left hand side near the entrance. Just be sure to return it for the next explorer to use.

There are…read moreseveral short hiking loops through the woods and a steep entry trail that goes straight down to the water. There is less beach than there used to be; perhaps it's an erosion issue. If you hike along the water, the beach opens up in a few places. It's very secluded! If you take the trails off to the north of the main one, you should stumble upon a bunch of old wooden benches, which are remnants of a long-gone outdoor church. High schoolers frequent this place to, well, do the things that high schoolers do. Don't worry though, they're more scared of you than you are of them. This is a wonderful place to get close to nature. It's generally very quiet. I've seen deer, bats, lots of interesting mushrooms, and many varieties of wildflower. The trail can be overgrown, but it is still quite clear. It's not possible to get lost, as the park is rather small, and all the trails are loops. Just be careful about wandering onto private property. No one seems to care too much, but there are "no trespassing" signs by the fences. If you want better beach, you might have to ignore the warnings, but you didn't hear it from me. Also, be careful along the shore here-- it can be tricky to traverse.

This place coninued to charge me after I ended my membership and wouldn't correct the issue. There is no corporate odfice to complain to and the employees have no authorization to correct billing problems. Its sad, but the owner never called back. Be wary of places that don't give paper reciepts. At least my bank was able to correct the problem. read more

Besides the friendly front desk and on-site masseuse, I love having the option of the outdoor running/ walking track and the outdoor pool during the summer months. This location still has an indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna as well. Of course hand towels and bath towels are complimentary and the locker rooms are clean & I have zero complaints with the lockers themselves. There is a variety of fitness classes offered throughout the week and plenty of equipment to use for both cardio and strength training. Early mornings I can relax for a few minutes before a spin class with a cup of coffee in the seating area. Personal trainers, premium classes and childcare services are also offered. The WAC apps allow for a quick and easy check in to the club as well as for classes signed up for through the app (at any of their locations). Having been a member here for a number of years, I appreciate the number of amenities and the flexibility to use the different locations. The pricing seems fair for what I get and how well maintained the equipment and overall facilities are, plus the variety of classes I get to choose from.

If you sign up for class, tell them Megan Lamb sent you! ;) So, the process is such that, you can't just show up for your first class. You have to call and schedule an intake/one-on-one sort of thing. Sometimes they are booked out, but I was able to get my one-on-on within a week. Okay, so they're supposed to call you a day before to remind you of your workout and tell you to come a half hour earlier. This didn't happen so I showed up late. They were friendly and accommodating about it. So, when you come in a half hour early, they sit with you and talk to you about your goals. Then you workout with the class who has a main instructor, but you're also with a personal instructor. This instructor focuses on you so that you can learn the techniques and they can answer questions. After the workout, they sit you down to see how you like it and discuss the cost of the membership. I'm not going to lie, it's steep. However they sort of tack on an extra month, plus classes are unlimited, as well as a few other small perks like special classes and free gloves. You either can afford it or you can't, but honestly? If you go to class, it's worth it. They add you to their Facebook group to introduce you to everyone. This is also how they try to maintain a family/community feel. You can either choose to participate or not. I keep up with it because they'll have announcements and reminders, so it's a good group to be a part of. It's also good for accountability reasons. Everyone is super supportive, encouraging and helpful. What I like? The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and motivating. The workout itself is extremely challenging, but it's for all age groups, shapes and sizes. Every type of person is there and there are always new people. You can tell that there are cliques; obviously there are people who are friends and/or who have been going a while. They try to make it feel like a family. And if you go regularly enough, you start to feel apart of it all. I've never felt left out. The music is fun to workout to. You can tell they put time into making playlists that will motivate you. This is important because music matters. Especially when you hate your life like I do during the warm-up. Classes are an hour long and they kick your butt. This is a lot like a boot camp class, but for me, way more fun. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to punch some bags?! It's a great, stress relieving workout. Since I have started, they have added more classes, especially in the morning. I don't have a problem with the schedule because there's always a class that I am able to attend. This has been the only thing that has gotten me motivated lately. I think anyone could benefit from this type of workout. It's seriously badass and a confidence/self esteem booster. Cons for me? Partner work is my least favorite part of the class because I am ridiculously uncoordinated, however it still can be fun. I mostly just feel bad for my partner for being so terrible. Also, knowing your left from right is hard! Staff are friendly and out-going. Members are nice. Studio is clean, as well as the bathroom facilities. There's a parking lot with plenty of space; it's right next to Kohl's. What are you waiting for? And what do you have to lose?! Go give it a try!

I really look forward to my 5:45 am morning workouts with Paul and the other people in my bootcamp class. (Paul the instructor usually brings us some protein snacks too!). Everyone--staff and clients are all very friendly and inviting. The boot camp classes are designed for people of any age and ability.
