Make no mistake, this gym has no frills or thrills in terms of the actual equipment on the floor…read more(free weights, squat racks, etc.) however they do have plenty of space so the lack of equipment doesn't play a huge impact in your workout. This is the perfect gym for the average individual who simply wants a space to do some simple exercises. The nice side of this gym is that they do offer their "black card" for $20/month which gives you access to massages chairs & beds along with their tanning beds. This gym is never so overcrowded that you can't find a machine and weights to lift and is cheap enough compared to other big name gyms. The only reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 is simply the small space and amount of equipment for their free weight area. With a little creativity you can get a full lift in, but it can be tough. Overall they market themselves as a simplistic gym and they delivered with plenty of machines and clean facilities!

Ascent Gym at 440 W Vilet St., Milwaukee, WI, is an excellent place to regain, enhance, maintain,…read morestrengthen, and or start to take care of your overall wellness. Ascent Gym has a variety of wellness activities that cater to a variety of people from different walks of life. The atmosphere is so calming, and the staff loves what they do and helps us. Ascent Gym is honestly a one-stop shop when it comes to overall wellness, and if they cannot provide the service requested, they know someone who does. You are in good hands when it comes to Ascent and its staff. It's so clean and safe in there, and they help everyone. They accept various types of insurance and referrals from different programs, too. I personally work with a Fitness Trainer named "Dre". Dre has been a fitness trainer and mental health professional for over 20+ years, and he takes pride in what he does. His reward is to see us at our best, and he takes his time with the fitness training exercises so that he can meet the needs of the consumer. Dre is so motivational and flexible in scheduling (even though he is in high demand and has a waitlist). He is certified and licensed in fitness and mental health, and he combines the two so he can best support us in becoming the best version of ourselves. Dre loves what he does and is dedicated to helping the community. Ascent Gym also has yoga, art therapy, music therapy, fitness, and various other services that can serve your needs regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, income, and or mental or emotional health needs. If your are looking for a place that can help you or your consumer or client, Ascent Gym is the place to choose. They treat you like family and it's so tranquil in there. As soon as you walk in the building, you can feel the safety, wellness, and welcoming atmosphere. Try Ascent Gym! You would be making the best decision for this season of your life. The best part of the gym is that the classes allow each member to go at their own pace so it was a fit for the beginner who had never been to a gym before (like me when I started there) to the person who's been working out their whole life. And of course safety was first and foremost as the trainers made sure each lift, exercise was done properly by each person or you wouldn't do it and a substitute exercise would be given. I really wish I had the time to get back to it but in the meantime, more room for you!

Otto emailed me back and told me to come in and the first workout was on him. I showed up with my gloves and wraps all the way from San Diego. Let me tell you, this place is badass! It's located inside an old brick building. It has the feel of an old school boxing gym with a modern touch. I was greeted by Cauleen (I hope that's how you spell her name) at the front desk and she put the group through a tough boxing workout. She even held the pads for each person, that was cool as f&@k! I was able to hit the fight club 3 out of the 5 days I was in town. Each workout was different and you throw lots of different combinations! If you live in Milwaukee or the surrounding area I suggest you give this fight club a try. P.S. I noticed next door they also have a CrossFit gym. I didn't use it but I looked inside and it also looked really nice. If that's your thing you should try that. I appreciate the warm welcome and when I visit, I'll be back. Thanks

What an incredible thing Otto and his team have built. With several class offerings, an inclusive…read moreand energetic atmosphere, and facilities that make you feel like you're training to fight Ali himself, Dropout Fight Club is something you need to experience. All it took was one class and I'm a believer. Typically I'm not one to attend fitness classes because most of them are things you can do in just about any gym. That's not the case at Dropout. They not only run you through a high intensity workout, but teach you boxing fundamentals along the way. Walker was the instructor for my small class on a Friday evening and he did a killer job. He encouraged us to work hard all class, but was also supportive if someone felt they needed a break. And most likely you will need a break at some point! It was four rounds of high intensity bag work and functional fitness movements. Without a doubt, Dropout Fight Club gave me one of the best workouts of my life. Classes are a little on the pricey side, but they offer a truly phenomenal experience that you just can't get anywhere else. It is absolutely worth every penny. The only negative about Dropout Fight Club is that you can't see it from the road. The address listed takes you to what looks like an abandoned warehouse (actually it was a battery factory), but the gym is way in the back of the building. I've included a couple of pictures to help first timers find there way in. If you park on Keefe, you can walk around the fence to a gate that lets you into the parking lot. From there you walk all the way to the back and you'll see the sign. Once inside the building there are several businesses already running or being built. The grunge of the building makes it feel like you're walking into an underground fight club. All in all, I give Dropout my highest recommendation. I hope to see this business thrive over the next few years.

Fast paced yoga can be so mental so her reminding us that we are strong was everything to me. If you have a basic understanding of yoga poses, you'll be just fine!! It's small and intimate. It's clean and modern. It's friendly and welcoming. It's relaxing. It's Zen! It's simply -- AMAZING! The others got this right! I've done lots of yoga and walked out feeling like I was challenged to fight and lost. In this studio, everything felt like an invitation. Jess was calm and smiling when I walked in. She quietly greeted me and checked me in with so little when that I barely knew what she was doing. Then she, realizing I had no gear, made the tools I needed appear out of nowhere. The studio is so neat that you don't see the equipment stored plainly in view - "Tiny House" style! But she didn't make me, a newcomer, go wandering around looking for what I needed, she placed it after I said I wanted to practice for me. That made me feel very welcomed. All the yogis were so kind. People said hello as we sat drinking tea to ambient music before and after class. The class, itself, wasn't a course if yogic terms and crazy poses that only superhumans can hold. Everything seems well planned, well intended, and very inviting. I believed I was welcome to "practice" yoga in this studio and that's refreshing! There was no pressure to be perfect or even try sharing that didn't feel right to be The space and the people really encouraged me to just be whoever I needed to be for the time I was there. I felt so much better (than when I walked in) as the session ended. I was more relaxed and I felt more open to the world and me. I jokingly told Jess, the only thing they didn't get right is they didn't build one in Grafton -- where I live!!!! You can't blame me for trying to get thm to bring the goodness closer to my home! HINT! HINT! Go look for this unassuming little studio. You'll be so happy you found it. You'll find your Zen even if you're (like me) not looking for it. It's an amazing place with amazing people something simply AMAZING! Thank you for having me. I look forward to your g Grand Expansion to Grafton (Hey, I gotta keep trying don't I?).
