I love this gym because it is very close to my place, the staff is friendly and always there to help when needed, especially when I lock myself out of my locker. The only down fall: SUPER BUSY! Sometimes you can't get a machine you need, even the treadmills get full if you go during the rush. I tried to go as late as 8:30 and it is still annoyingly busy, they should think about expanding or opening another one in the city or nearby. Planet fitness already has the minimal amount of mirrors and so if you are doing legs or arms where you need a mirror to check technique to minimize injury... you are most likely not going to find space in front of one. read more

Planet Fitness Mission, Kansas, You can do better. I have been a member for 8 years and appreciate the professionalism of your staff. My concern is about the age and condition of much of your equipment. At least 4 of your ellipticals are unsteady with treads that can cause a user to lose their balance and possibly fall off! The stationary bikes are are unsteady also and tend to rock -- some, not all. Your televisions operate sporadically. My observation is that much of your equipment is outdated and in need of replacement. Management needs to address these issues!! read more

I had the black card membership here all of last year and although I rarely attended, it had nothing to do with the actual quality of the gym. Honestly, for $25 a month I found the facilities and equipment options to be more than adequate...you get what you pay for and in this case even more than that because you won´t find gym memberships elsewhere at this price point. read more

The place is always very packed and it's hard to have a structured routine when all the equipment is hogged for a long period of time. That's not really anything wrong with the business itself, but it's worth noting. Equipment is in good condition and staff is friendly, but I often leave disappointed that I couldn't get my routine done because people will come in groups and use popular machines for a long time. Especially the smith machine. Good luck using that between 6-10a or 4-10p! Also, the fact it closes at 7p on weekends is quite inconvenient. read more

I'd like to know why the young man at the front desk tonight around 8 pm lied to me tonight about getting referral points to my aunt? The woman that waited on me was professional and pleasant. When she didn't know tge answer. She referred tge question to the young man, who took one look at me and said, "she ain't gonna get nothing." Shaking his head and totally dismissing the inquiry. Later. After I finished my work out, I saw two new people at the desk. I asked the man at the desk about the referral points. He was professional and pleasant. He said he didn't know but that he would get me an answer. He immediately asked a eoam working g with me and she listened patiently and said that my aunt was have to make the inquiry at her location and give them my name. I joined this gym three months ago and have been very happy with it. The staff seems friendly, and it's always very clean. The cleanliness, in particular, is much appreciated, as that is certainly not the case at every gym I have belonged to. I mostly run on the treadmill, and there's always plenty of treadmills, even though I come during pretty busy times (I would assume, as it's in the morning before work). Since that is basically all that I do, I can't really comment on the weight machines. I have the black card membership so that I can use the Lawrence location as well when I am visiting my girlfriend, which is super handy. I walked in the door ready to sign up and went to the desk. I stopped and stood in front of an employee that was leaning against the desk on their phone. I stood there for about a minute and the person never looked up or acknowledged me. So I turned around and left. No one ever greeted me, or acknowledged me in any way. I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to spend my money. It looked clean and nice in there and like they had plenty of cardio equipment. Love Planet Fitness. I have the Black card which I highly recommend, it gives you access to the spa. The spa is where the hydro massage beds and chairs are, which are heavenly. The Black card gives you unlimited access to the spa. Unlimited tanning and full body workout machine. The regular card is great too, I had it for a month before upgrading. 24 hour gym with all standard equipment, 30 minute circuit and great atmosphere. read more

I wish I had some complaints so that I could justify staying home and NOT working out, but unfortunately (for me) this place is legit. The equipment is always cleaned and maintained - I have yet to see any broken machines, which is impressive for the quantity. The spray bottles / towels are continually filled and monitored by the staff. The space never feels or smells dirty. This is a large gym, and there are a lot of people who come here, but I have never had an issue with it being too busy to find equipment to use. As with most gyms, I've noticed the peak busy-time is at the beginning of the week, and attendance tapers off as the weekend nears. We've come on Sunday mornings before and it's been dead. This location has a huuuuuge range of weight machines / cardio equipment. It would be hard to get bored with the variety they have to offer. I also have noticed training spaces set up with 30-minute workouts that you can complete at your own speed, which is nice. As for the price, it's much more appealing than other gyms in the area. I have the black card ($20/month with unlimited spa use, tanning and guest passes) and have tried the spa services, which are basically massage chairs and tables. This is the second out of state Planet Fitness for me and this one is probably number 1 for out of state. Of course my home one is nearest and dearest. I joined this gym because it is close to my home. I haven't been going since I hurt my foot. I stopped by yesterday to downgrade my membership to from black to basic (keep membership until injury heals, but pay less). An inexperienced staff member was helping me, the only way to make the change was to pay (this seems wrong since I hadn't been using the facility). My only other option was to cancel, so the rude shift manager came over to help me, he didn't offer any options except to pay a fee. At this point I'm concerned about the security of my personal information (computer) it seems everyone has access to everything. The place is affordable and convenient. My big gripe are the circuits. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I go to do the 30 minute circuit there are people in there jumping from machine to machine, not going in the order in which is was designed. This wouldn't bother if they were staying out of the way of me doing my circuit. If I am on 7, it is pretty evident I am heading to 8 after. Why would you choose to go to the #8 machine and cut me off. I typically get fed up and and leave half way through and just get on an elliptical. Maybe they need to post the rules of how this works - these people either don't get it or (the more likely option) they just don't care. And there is no one to enforce it. I purchased the PF Black Card which clearly states I can use facilities across the nation. However, I went to this location and the manager Jason told me I had to pay $5.00 because I was out of credits. I told him I live close to this one and was told I could go to any location. I showed him the sign and said thats not true. I said then why do you have the sign? He said I have to pay $5.00. I asked if I could transfer my membership there he said "yes, but it can take days or a couple weeks and you'll have to pay $5.00 each time you come here." frustrated I paid the $5.00 and told him his customer service was awful and that is false advertisement. Great and very clean place! Only down fall they changed there wifi recently and while it was outstanding before, it works like crap! I've asked internally if they have suggestion box and manager just says tell me, he's also a very friendly person and said hot spots need to be adjusted. Well 2 months later nothing! After four separate attempts to politely ask for a small, transient manager-discretionary change (channel change to watch a World Cup game), I'm prompted to write poor review about the customer-service attitude of most recent (June 2018) Site Manager (Mallory) at this PF location. The first two times I made the request, the Manager informed me that she was 'busy', and would get to it 'in a while' or when she was done with the task at hand. Since my request was time-sensitive, I watched as she wandered from the front desk, back to her office, then back again, over the course of 10-15 minutes before I approached her and made the request again. She then complied without comment both times. The third time I asked, a week later, she had the same response, while taking the trash out. Today she was 'next door' (Dollar General is next door) and would return in ten minutes. When she returned, the Manager asked me to determine what local channel Fox was on, and while I retrieved my phone to find the channel, she disappeared. The desk attendant informed me that the Manager would return 'later' and wouldn't be able to change the channel until she returned. Altogether, poor customer service, and I'll wait a day to cool off before deciding whether to cancel my black card membership and join a gym with an improved customer orientation. read more

This is the first gym I've had a membership to. It's small, but manageable. Would benefit from a couple more Smith Machines, or regular squat racks, but there is probably no space for it with 100 treadmills. It's a good gym, very budget friendly. The amount of people that don't know how to lift properly or how to use the machines crack me up more than what it's worth. It's definitely a beginner gym but an advanced gym user can use the machines and dumbbells to great use. My ONLY complaint is that the dumbbells only go up to 75lbs, bars go up to 60lb (way too low). Wish we had more flexibility on that end, other than that, it's a great space and great staff with an even better price. read more

So first off very nice gym pretty close to the La Fitness's I'm used to being a member at when I lived in Texas which is why I chose this specific gym. But when I seem to do leg day they only have one lying leg curl in that 30 min session room which is fine but I always seem to get looks but it's seriously the only one in the gym and I try to do it last. But I digress, I went to ask if they could maybe get another out in the open as to fix this problem that way I don't mess up anyone's work out as well as mine. Was told rudely by the staff that is the only one in the gym and I have to follow that rooms rules which is bull shit if that's the only place to get that machine then you need to get another it's simple. The staff in general here is rude which only seems to come up when you have a suggestion or a question. All and all the gyms great just don't ask or suggest anything they get very very upset about that stuff. Not like I was asking for an actual squat rack or bench I mean come on now. If you can avoid getting sucked in by the Planet Fitness "cheap" monthly membership - I would do it. My husband and I were gym members for a number of years and when COVID hit we decided to take our workouts elsewhere due to the risk of being inside the gym. The biggest thing here to know is that you can't cancel your membership online. It has to be done in person - I mean is this 2020? My husband went in to cancel his membership and they somehow messed it up. I got charged for another month and they refused to reimburse us because he didn't have proof that he had gone in that day. So he risked going into the gym to cancel his membership for nothing? After paying them consisently for 3 years you think they would have the courtesy to refund me the $24.95 they charged me knowing we had cancelled and hadn't been to the gym in months. After months of constant calling and trying to contact a manager, I was told I would get reimbursed. A few more months passed and nothing. Well, here you have it, the manager Anna is now saying she won't reimburse it. I have contacted the corporate office, but since it is a franchise I'm not sure what will happen. All I can say is BEWARE! Lots of loopholes under that appealing "cheap" monthly membership. Be better during times like this! read more
