The equipment is all pretty dated compared to the nearby YMCA and planet fitness. It's also twice as expensive as planet fitness with dirtier locker rooms. Another huge issue is the parking. Getting in and out of Golden Mile and finding a spot takes an extra 5-10 minutes every time. Their hours are also a bit limited some days compared to other options. Not a bad place I guess...but just better options very close by.

She is always professional, but very warm and caring. She's patient, and watches you like a hawk, when you're working out, quickly modifying the workout, if she notices your form isn't up to snuff on a given day. She works extensively with people with disabilities of all sorts, so her knowledge of fitness is very specialized--but gets results. When I started training with her, she worked very carefully with me, to strengthen and stabilize various "problem" areas (knees, shoulders)--and now, a year later, I can do things I haven't been able to do in years--like going down stairs, without my knees hurting--which feels nothing short of miraculous! She works holistically--offering health and nutrition advice, should you want it, along with her personal training, and you can really tell that she's creating a unique program just for you. The amenities are great, there are workout rooms…read moreavailable for classes or just for personal time to stretch or do your own floor exercises, lots of equipment for weight training (my newest interest), there is a large pool for lap swimming or a smaller pool for therapy/rehabilitation. The staff are always friendly, and I love all of the different programs they offer... child care while working out, kids camps, personal training, cooking classes, karate lessons, etc. I love going and seeing people of all ages focusing on their health and supporting one another. It's also a judgement-free environment, everyone can just focus on their own personal routine. I Highly recommend!

we joined the Sampson Family Y about 8 months ago the only reason was for their indoor pools…read more however since we joined the pool has closed at least 20 times! today 5 minutes after i arrived and drove 40 minutes to get there i hear the whistle everyone out we are closing the pools 10:20 am . they told u there was too much humidity! very upsetting! why they advertised that they have indoor pools but they cannot keep them open? excuses too much chlorine in the middle of Winter they keep the doors open! however they do not reimburse us they charge us even if we were there 5 minutes! We were hesitant to take him to the new location due to loving the coaches and kids in The Strip District but Coach Vince and Coach Mark are really amazing! They do a great job of communicating to the kids, keeping them focused, providing help, and making sure the kids are having fun. The Monroeville location is smaller but they have a free parking lot. Which was a perk compared to the street or garage parking options in the Strip.

Couple of big differences, the volume of members and the parking lot, which means I can get to class right on time without needing the cushion to figure out the complex streets of East Liberty. Also, fewer members (and in a larger space) has been nice as far as being able to get into classes goes, which was my number one qualm with OTF compared to other types of gyms. If you're reading this review getting ready for resolution season and want to know if OTF is for you here's the rundown: 1. It's pricey, there's no getting around this BUT it is less expensive than personal training and the coaches provide very similar guidance 2. It's not really for the completely unfit UNLESS you're able to swallow your pride. I'm part of the 250+ club and there is rarely an "option" that is completely within my comfort zone BUT I'm willing to listen to my body and confident I'll keep up with my coaches/classmates one day. Anyone CAN do it but the pressure can be real. 3. It works! After a year of OTF I was never in better shape, which made it worth it (I am back after a two year hiatus and 40 lbs of weight gain).
