I belonged here for a few months as my second gym in addition to YMCA but switched--I just really don't see a reason to go here over Planet Fitness. The equipment is all pretty dated compared to the nearby YMCA and planet fitness. It's also twice as expensive as planet fitness with dirtier locker rooms. Another huge issue is the parking. Getting in and out of Golden Mile and finding a spot takes an extra 5-10 minutes every time. Their hours are also a bit limited some days compared to other options. I really liked this gym when I tried it out. It's all one floor and very easy to find whatever machine or equipment you need. I took a class and really enjoyed the teacher. It's a bit out of the way for me to commit to on the daily but it's my favorite of the LA Fitness's in the area. read more

When I started here this location had a lot of promise. After being a paying member for years, it was upsetting to find out they permanently closed the swimming pool due to "lack of interest" meanwhile every other week the pool was closed for a maintenance issue or water aerobics was canceled because they didn't have enough instructors. The evening classes for working folks were limited from the get go, but being that was the only reason I joined this gym I felt slighted when we were not informed of the permanent closure. The only LA fitness with water aerobics in this area is Greensburg and I can't work and make it to their only evening class on Mondays nights. Negative stars read more

SCAMMERS! I bought a membership in Canada for two countries, the USA and Canada. But when I arrived in Pittsburgh, they started charging me $10 every other time, because the girl working at the reception decided so. Without warning. When I asked her why she wrote off the money, she couldn't answer. I visited many branches and LA, and everywhere I came across the same person who wrote off $10 from me. I contacted the manager. He told me that they shouldn't have written off, but still no one returned the money to me and they continued writing off every time. I decided to close the membership. But even here there was deception and fraud. I had paid for the last month when I bought the membership. But when I closed it, they wrote off the money for the last month again. And my husband didn't, although we have the same membership. read more

The worst gym for a couple of reasons: 1. Terrible customer service. I tried to cancel my membership and the Member Service Manager was never available (I even took unpaid time off work to cancel the membership and I was told ONLY that specific manager could process my request during her office hours. The reception staff also have attitudes and are not helpful. 2. The AC is always on low. It smells terrible. A gym should always blast their AC, especially on hot days. 3. Weights are never re-racked and it is nearly impossible to find light weights to lift. 4. Expensive. You must pay 100+ initiation fee to obtain a membership. Its lacking. My complaint is not with the customer service. The staff is friendly and respectful but who ever is managing this place needs to step it up. The place is dirty, needs better upkeep. Floors are discussing, cycling classroom, locker, and restrooms needs swept and mopped. Trash is always over flowing and I go in the mornings, either 5 am or 9am. Restroom sinks and not all soap dispensers work or leaking. Daycare hours are not accurate. The front desk gentleman offered to stay with my toddler twice till the worker made it to work, and a lady one other time the front desk stayed with my boy the entire time I was working out. Even the daycare place is dirty with tiny trash that a one year old could potentially put in there mouth. I am bummed because this gym is the closest to my home. read more

The men's locker room floor is always dirty. Half the lockers are broken. Men's showers have mildew. Pool is never clean; always has sand on the floor from malfunctioning filters. Pool staff is rude. It's a g-y-m. Nothing to get too excited about but gets the job done. Hours: are good through the week Mon thru Thurs 5am to midnight (Fri til 10pm) (pool evidently has earlier closing hours as mentioned in other reviews). I wish the weekend hours matched but they are open 8am to 8pm. Oh, who am I kidding? That wouldn't get me there any more regularly! I had been going right after work around 5pm and it can be very crowded until around 6pm. I recently went at 8:30pm on a week night and that was golden! Parking: can be very crowded as the gym parking is shared with the strip mall crowd but there is always somewhere to park. Walk, dammit; exercise is the reason you're there, right? Amenities: Lots of treadmills and elliptical machines, a handful of stair climbers, bikes, a couple of rowing machines, a good amount of arms/legs workout machines, plenty of weights, 4 racquetball courts, a pool, classes, juice bar, tvs. Locker room: Women's locker room has plenty of lockers (bring your own lock). I wish it were cleaner. Nuff said. Price: Decent pricing, enough so that I don't feel guilty for not coming. Oh, guess that's not a good thing overall for discipline and exercise, huh? Tidbits: They could clean the garbage cans more frequently, stock the paper towel holders more frequently, and clean the locker room more frequently. And, I've noticed since the Presidential election, anyway, that Fox news has disappeared from the TV channel lineup, while CNN is still there. Hmmm. I can live with that, alright. read more

I've been coming to this location since they first opened. LA fitness bought out my previous gym and still honored the contract I had with the previous company and kept me at my same monthly rate. For this I am externally happy. This specific location has a sauna which I love and also offers a pool, hot tub, basketball/volleyball court, multiply racket ball courts, a spin room, a juice/shake bar, child care, many different aerobic class, free weights, many many work out machines, personal trainers and soooo much more. With any good gym there are good times and bad (busy) times to go. However over all I am very happy to go to this gym regularly. Highly recommended! read more

Equipment is nice. Just think this is a gross gym. You can tell/feel that they have an indoor pool. Bathrooms are disgusting, not a lot of cleaning stations for the equipment/ hard to find. Go to this gym if you want to drip sweat by just walking, the pool makes it so gross in there. read more

This gym is probably my second choice out of all the gyms. It's closer to me than Bakery Square (which is my first choice) solely because of the layout. The staff here are always so nice, place is always clean, but I love the "women's only" workout room at Bakery Square and its way more updated. Very nice gym. It was a little weird the first time i went and no one was running on the treadmills, they were all just walking. The gym definetly does get very packed during peak hours but luckily I have a job to where I can control when I go to the gym. Peak times will be your mon-fri 5 till 7 and weekends in the mornings. The one star I took off is i wish there were more sanitizing and paper towel systems. There is only one on the wall behind the cardio machines while none by the free weights. One of the little things that makes me happy is the random smoothies samples they'll have at the front! I have yet to try the pool but hopefully will soon.I will also attend some of the classes too. My main complaint is with how they go about keeping this place "clean." I say it in " " because the way they address the bathroom is quite disgusting! Their idea of cleaning the bathroom, is going in and hosing everything down?!? This does not clean...it just leaves the gross run off on the floor that nobody wants to walk on! This also does nothing to help the already humid conditions in this gym! ...that's a side note not related to this review, but please please please get some dehumidifiers! Anyway, this is NOT a 24 hour gym...so why do they have people in there doing cleaning like this while members are there in the first place?!? Hire and overnight cleaning crew (like what bars and clubs do) and do a full detailed cleaning while the place is empty. I don't know how many times a member of the cleaning staff has kicked up a huge ball of dust during one of my sets...I can only imagine the law suit from someone who has asthma if this were to cause an issue. I know it's not healthy for normal lungs to be exposed to that during exercise, let alone someone with health issues. These are things that seem rather obvious...yet obviously over looked by the management of LA Fitness. read more

Worst experience ever!!! Joined this club specifically for the kids club and talked to the sales team about this ahead of time. They COMPLETELY DECEIVED me and took my money without telling me the kids club was closed and was for approx the next THREE (3) MONTHS. This service is completely unreliable and I've called and spoken to people in person no one cares and no has EVER EVER gotten back to me. I asked to upgrade, begged pay these thieves more money so I could go to a premier club, was told too bad so sad and basically you have to re-pay all your start up fees (hundreds of dollars extra) even though the basic service I joined this location for is never functional. So sick of @lafitness and their excuses for an unreliable club feature and even MORE DISGUSTED with the fact no one will call me back or speak to me about this lack of service and DECEPTION. Big change for the better and has been so for a good while and have remained so. All the staff, administration and management issues we have encountered in the past have all been resolved. The current management are doing an excellent job. The manager, membership reps and front desk staff can all be commended for improving the customer service level here. read more

The location is great, parking lot not so much. It is shared with about 20 other businesses and is always packed. If it's around 5pm don't bother going because every machine is taken along with al of the classes filled. Staff has a lot to be desired, along with the company. The staff can basically do whatever they want because the company could care less. read more

This gym does the job for me but isn't anything special. Of course, it's very busy after work Monday-Friday and on Saturday mornings. I only enjoy coming here late at night on a workday or after the morning crowd on the weekends. Visiting the Robinson LA Fitness has spoiled me because each treadmill and elliptical has its own TV with headphone jack, while this location just has several mounted TVs with no sound. The gym could use additional weight machines as a lot of women's favorites seem to often be busy (like the leg press). Also, walking back to the locker room area smells positively terrible and took me aback the first time I came to this gym. Is it convenient being an LA Fitness member in Pittsburgh? Definitely. There are so many location options. However, I wouldn't recommend joining LA Fitness if this is the only gym that you would go to.... read more

I have been to LA Fitness 8 times in the last two weeks, including this morning. Still, the hot tub is not working properly! I have been told it isn't working because members are sitting in front of the jets. This morning I was told it is down because members have been vandalizing the jets. In three years plus at this location and 20 plus years at other locations, including Bally clubs, I have never seen anyone damaging or removing parts of the jets. I have also never seen a club unable to keep their hot tub functioning properly like this location. I called corporate office on 01/12/2017 at the suggestion of the manager in Monroeville and they claimed that they had no record at corporate or district level that there has been any problem or requests for repairs. This morning again, the manager at the club suggested I call corporate as he can do nothing more than call the vendor requesting service. Meanwhile members continue to look at a hot tub with 11 jets that have absolutely no flow! read more

Been a member here since it has opened. Nice gym with all the essential equipment. Reasonable rates. Gets crowded at lunch time and very, very crowded after work (between 5-7.) I wouldn't recommend going then. I wish they had more squat racks. There is only one standard rack. Also would be nice if they had an indoor running track, but you can't have everything. read more

I really don't wanna go to a gym every time to see 10 old man hang their balls all over the place lol. This place is awesome. Any type of lifting machine you would want, dumbbells that go up to 120 pounds (I guess that will be enough..), a pool, basketball court, yoga, spin classes, and open until midnight. Full locker rooms with a shower, oh and a hot tub and sauna. If you are looking for a place to do some serious weight lifting, this is great for you. Heavy weight, loads of machines for isolation targeting, and tons of open space to get creative with. The rush hour here is indeed heavy. Be warned. If you come between 5 and 7:30 in the evening, prepare to feel like a sardine. But can you blame them? This is by far the best gym in Monroeville. Full disclosure: I have a friend who works in a different LA Fitness who set up my account and walked me through the process. If you're a swimmer, watch out; even though the website states that this club is open until 12:00 AM, it fails to notify customers that the pool closes at 9:00 PM. That failure ruined my plans for swimming on 9/6/2016. Adding insult to injury, because the pool hours are posted only on a paper sign taped to the door of the pool area, I suited-up and showered before finding out. Writing a review to let anyone know who might be interested that despite not being stated anywhere, their pool apparently closes a full THREE hours before the rest of the club. (Pool closed at -9- while the club closed at 12.) So if you're like me and your regular location is shut for some reason, double check more than just their website for the availability of the actual amenities. Dropped in while visiting my parents. It was easy to get a day pass with no hassle rom the salesman.

I was visiting from out of town and needed to use the lap pool for the day. When we arrived, the front desk workers were very friendly and made us feel welcome. One of the managers, Andrew, was extremely helpful and helped us to get a guest pass! As I walked through the workout area to get to the pool, I noticed how nice the facility was and how many activities they had to offer, including multiple racquet ball courts and a smoothie bar. The locker rooms were clean and very nice. The lap pool was also nice and offered a large hot tub. And to top it all off, everyone using the faculties was very kind! The layout sucks it's like a big warehouse and I wish it was more like the one near my hometown, cardio was all upstairs and overlooked nautilus and free weights.
