Kenyon is home to one of the most exciting athletic centers of any small college in the country. Spacious, welcoming, architecturally stunning, and equipped with top-flight facilities, the Kenyon Athletic Center opened in January 2006. Soaring glass walls, arching steel trusses, and sleek lines make for a dramatic design. Open views and abundant natural light throughout the building promote the friendly interactions that shape Kenyon's spirit of community. In 2020, the Kenyon Athletic Center was renamed the Lowry Center to honor William E. Lowry Jr. '56 H'99, a three-sport Kenyon athlete. The building features the 200-meter Barrett A. Toan Indoor Track, an Olympic-sized pool named the James A. Steen Aquatic Center within the Lowry Center, the 1,600-seat Tomsich Arena for basketball and volleyball, the stunning 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art Patterson Fitness Center that houses over 200 pieces of exercise equipment, and the 120-seat Beulah Kahler Theater for game film review and team meetings. In addition to the previously mentioned sections, the Lowry Center also holds ample room for racquetball and squash courts, multipurpose rooms for dance, yoga, and aerobics, several study lounges, a Multi-Activity Court for recreational use, four conference rooms, a café, and substantial locker room space. There was lots of activity like a basketball game in the arena, a swim meet, students working out at the Lowry Center. I swam in the Steen Aquatic Center that was wonderful because the college hosted the Special Olympics Ohio South Central Swim Meet which first class for a NCAA Division III school. The Kenyon Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams have won multiple National titles in NCAA Division III. The facilities has lots of historical things of the past accomplishments in sports at Kenyon College. I will have to come back to work out and swim with the help of Kenyon student, facility member, or alumni. It is one the best facilities for a small college because it has every thing that a student, facility member, alumni, and guest needs. Thank you.

A major plus is the price as the yoga classes are only $6 each, less if you buy multiple. The…read moreinstructor is not the best. She does not have a calm voice, says the pose name typically instead of saying how to pose, and is easily distracted. It's a very small class, about 6 people. This means plenty of room and you can be assured a mat as well as a ball, if used. Sadly the instructor doesn't really pay much attention so she won't advise how to adjust your stance despite the class size. Very friendly and chatty group often. Each session is about an hour long.

It's great for all ages and we have a diverse class of all ages and abilities. If you're looking for a positive, encouraging atmosphere, wanting to challenge yourself in new areas THIS is your place. Ive tried other gyms before but was always worried that I wasn't pushing myself enough, working out all of my body or even getting my moneys worth. After a classes here I feel that I've really worked out, and I see lasting results because of it. Lorraine has been a great friend of mine and I always feel comfortable asking questions. The class seems to go by fast as there's a variety of exercises you do and stretching after. I feel confident here. Step Into Fitness really is a gem in this city! Don't know why My last yelp review wasn't sticking…read more I live in San Francisco, and in town visiting my folks. During the holidays, I was driving to Columbus 2/3x's a week just for my yoga and Pilates thru ClassPass. I just got back into town to see my folks for the month, and was sooooooo stoked to stumble upon this little gem of a yoga/ Pilates studio here in small town Mount Vernon Ohio. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, was a little skeptical coming from SF, cos I love a good hard Yoga/Pilates class to keep me in my best shape, and wasn't sure if I was going to get the same workout. Happy to report back that I love Hot Yoga Escape and highly recommend everyone or anyone to try this place out. The studio offers Bikram style Yoga, along with Vinyassa Flow and Hot Pilates. I tried out both their Vinyassa Yoga Flow and Pilates, and really liked both classes. I love the studio even more that they have Mind Body class reservation system in place to help me coordinate my week + stay organized on line. :) Depending on the instructors, some classes are easier/harder but non the less, a great workout for all levels. Charlene the owner did a fantastic job of creating a warm and open environment for all levels to feel welcome and at home. I am excited that Hot Yoga Escape is in Mount Vernon, and love LOVE this little studio in small town Ohio.

My wife and I tried showing up while a class was in session 2 months ago, but the doors were locked, so I assume they only have the doors open shortly before a class with the instructor the only employee on site, then lock the doors for security. No problem, fair enough. I recently decided the best approach would be to submit an email through their website. I was ready to roll and sent a message similar to what I've said so far. There was no reply for over a day so a little bent out of shape I sent another message with obviously hurt feelings, which did prompt a response. Charlene Brande sent from her iPhone "How can I help you?" I could be wrong but I was assuming the owner of a yoga studio would have a clue on what kind of help I was looking for. I responded again still with hurt feelings explained how awkward it was for me to start with and this kind of reply didn't help, so for my efforts I have been ignored, i decided to go ahead and try yoga via streaming service. While doing my beginner yoga, I told my wife about what was going on, and apparently she had called 2 months ago and got ignored also. This place has a nice website and some interesting classes laid out which I assume I will never now that the communication got weird to non existent. The fact that she does her business through her phone exemplifies that she doesn't care about her potential clients or somehow she has some "weeding out " process. What a way to run a business.
