Staff was very friendly and helpful. They didn't have the equipment I was looking for so I only went 1x during my contract in the area.

Quinn was working with me when I got behind. When I entered my partial payment, the app took the full amount owed! I was freaking out because I was told specifically to put in a payment then he could waive a fee, etc to help me out. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. It pulls the full amount and now Quinn won't stand behind his words and I am overdrawn and short on rent. I tried to do the right thing but they are GREEDY and will LIE to get your payment method and they SAVE it for YEARS. read more

TALK to Club Management? Oh, I did. I heard Quinn when asked to come to the phone ( Acting like he doesn't remember talking to me multiple times, sending emails, in the past WEEK). My problem, Dear Customer Service is that! I had an agreement with Quinn, I held up my end and he is laughing about it. He agreed to waive the late fees and one of the other charges. He stated to me that "we can remove everything except the annual fee." THAT is the amount I agreed to, since I am in a troubling financial situation right now. As Long as I paid a PARTIAL payment, Quinn " would continue to work with me." Quinn said he would removed the fees, and he emailed corporate to explain that. BUT as soon as my debit card number went in and I pressed the SUBMIT button, the FULL AMOUNT OWED was pulled from my account. Quinn instructed me to start a dispute with my bank. He would email corporate and have them remove the fees he promised. Give it a few days and let him know. SO, I DID. Now, Quinn has a memory problem, and he claims he never told me that, and that somewhere in the past, there have already been fees waived. I have never asked for that until this situation came up. I am usually very responsible and I take care of things I sign up to do. This got ahead of me, I used an old email and it was reminding me on the app. Unfortunately, I had to get a different phone, and the PF app wasn't installed on that phone. So, Yes, things got away from me. I wanted to make this right and that is what started this. A promise to make it right, as long as he would work with me. He held up his part, right up to the lie that made me put in my debit card number. Liar, Liar, Liar. I did this in Good Faith, and I was LIED to. At the same time, I do not often air grievances on Yelp. I feel it is necessary to bring it to your attention how one particular member was treated in your "No Judgement Zone." I started my original membership many years ago, prior to Covid. I went to the Club religiously. and I loved it. After Covid, I struggled with my health. I gained a lot of weight and developed Congestive Heart Failure. I needed to go to the gym. Every time I went, I felt worse when I left. I could not stand the eyes on me. I know, that is my fault for gaining weight and being lazy. But, I wanted to get better. I had to stop my membership when I lost my job. When I got my tax refund, I started it again. Evidently, I purchased something with my Credit Karma card, because THAT is the card that I kept getting notices that my bill wasn't being paid. I know for a FACT that the monthly payment comes out of my checking account every month, I see it every time it posts. This is why I ignored the messages. When I started getting voicemails about it, I chalked it up to identity theft, knowing there is no money on the card, I kept ignoring the messages. FINALLY I had enough of the incessant messages about my payment not going through and I called. I also downloaded the app to my new phone. I still do not know why PF is attempting to charge my credit Karma card, while already taking a payment every month from my checking account. I could not find that I had paid the annual fee, for whatever reason, so I went in and added my debit card, and attempted to make the $49 payment( after all the working with Quinn on this). When I entered my debit card number ( which ironically IS the exact same account as the CHECKING ACCOUNT on file), The ENTIRE amount was deducted. This is the part where Quinn tells me this has NEVER happened to ANYONE EVER BEFORE, that I MUST HAVE done something wrong. I am an idiot for not putting in the correct amount.) I tell Quinn that I do indeed have 4 years of college and that I am not an idiot. I also worked in management in Retail, and I understand how this works in the financial side. He failed to hold up his end and waive the amounts we agreed on . or there would be NO FULL AMOUNT DUE. Obviously, you do not need a 4-year degree to figure that out. Quinn told me to start a dispute with my bank, and he would email corporate to see about getting me a refund for the part He supposedly waived. I was to call him back when the dispute was settled., So, I called back and Quinn wasn't there (Wyatt). Then I called again and Quinn wasn't there (Miles). The third time I called, Wyatt called to Quinn while I was on the phone and I heard what Quinn said about me. Quinn came to the phone reluctantly and told me some story about how my name is so similar to another member's name That he was confused. FIND me another MEMBER by the name of DAWN KESSEL. in Urbana, IL. It's all lies. I knew not to trust him, but I gave up my distrust because I wanted to make this right. Update: I complained about the filthy bathroom and locker room in a supposedly anonymous survey I received by email from Planet Fitness this morning 8/8/23. Their response? They terminated my membership for "Policy Violation". I called and spoke to someone named Moises Garcia and he stated that it was due to the survey comments they received and my review. So not only is the survey not anonymous, employee retaliation is a potential outcome if you fill out a survey honestly. In my response to the survey, I complained that they never disinfect the bathroom floors and that cleaning is totally inadequate. Specifically, there is a piece of soiled toilet paper jammed in the hinge of the seat in the handicapped shower that had been there over a week as of 8/6/23. How could that be missed? It couldn't. Ergo, they don't clean. I'll be pursuing them for the $39 annual fee charged 8/1/23 if they don't promptly refund it. See my prior review for more info. I like this gym! I have never been to a Planet Fitness and I really liked what I saw. The gym was very clean and the environment is very inviting. I like the purple throughout lol (it is my favorite color after all :P). The staff are very helpful! I went as a guest with my friend's pass. It was super easy to get in and out. It's not usually busy the times I've gone (around 3-4pm) and there are a lot of machines to choose from. They have most things you need in terms of weights (no rowing machines though). I like it a lot and it's in a non-busy location. Very easy to access. read more

Soo much better then the new Champaign location. Mostly because the staff here actually tries, cleans, keeps the supplies up and are always busy. The Champaign employees just live at the desk and make fun of how much money they are not making. Best thing I ever did was leave Champaign PF and come to Urbana PF. read more

Members are supposed to wear masks -- this is Illinois -- but staff does nothing to enforce the requirement, or even "remind" members who have their masks down on their chins. Today I watched four staffers scrupulously avoid the parts of the gym where the non-maskers were working out, turning their heads so that they wouldn't have to confront them. Earlier in the week, I had asked one staffer why there were people without masks, and he said, "Because I haven't seen them." Well, if you turn your head away, you won't! Otherwise, the gym is usually very clean, the equipment works, the staff are on the friendly side, and people mind their own business. Were it not for the mask issues, I'd rate it higher. read more

I definitely cannot recommend this place. A corporate scam. I wanted to get a FULL premium membership and pay upfront. I was told by the staff it wasn't possible, I'd have to give a credit card or bank account. ( I'm sure they count on you forgetting to cancel or jump through a ridiculous number of loopholes to cancel) What a joke. The people working looked and acted like they just got fired from McDonald's or Walgreens, definitely minimum wage types and not professional trainers. Used to be a great gym before COVID, now it belongs in the "Buyer Beware" category. I stopped by the front desk in August and had my membership frozen because I'm just not comfortable in a gym setting right now (I joked that "it's not you, it's me"). They weren't supposed to start charging me again until January 2021, and they emailed me documentation to that effect. Then they charged me in August. And again in September. So I stopped by the front desk again last week. They said my membership wasn't showing as frozen in the system, and they couldn't explain what had happened. So I cancelled the membership, and they emailed me documentation. Lo and behold, they charged me again today. So I had to spend my time calling the bank and going through some rigamarole to get these charges stopped/refunded. I really don't trust them to stop taking my money, so I'm going to have to report this to the State's Attorney office. I regret to have to do this at this challenging time, and I know this may be an error rather than intentional, but the bottom line is that I tried to work with them, and they have not been able to honor their agreements. read more

I have been to several Planet Fitness around the state (around 5-6), and this is by far the nicest one. It is always clean and all of the machines are well kept and working smoothly. The staff is incredibly friendly and inviting. They also don't ring the "lunk" alarm for perfectly reasonable gym behavior (something I've seen other PF do). Overall, great facility! read more

Abundant parkings, clean and empty gym. Perfect place to workout if you don't like waiting on machines or free weights especially if you're into body building. Ample amount of cardio machines. My first time here and I already signed up for a black card membership. It's a great deal imo. read more

The staff are friendly and do a great job keeping the place clean so they get 5 stars! Corporate gets zero stars so I rated 3. Corporate needs to fix the hydro beds and the fans and keep everyone posted on status. One hydro massage has been down since early December and as of last week both are broke. No signs up as to status because the staff doesn't know anything other than parts are ordered. Now the fans are not working and while a tech was there yesterday, no update on status is known. Corporate communication is missing! I look forward to corporate's comments. read more

Hubby and I joined not too long ago, and we love this place. I have to agree it is by far the cleanest gym I've seen in town, and nothing against Champaign PF(bigger), but the Urbana staff are amazingly friendly and helpful...and sincerely so. If you haven't tried a PF, or are a total gym noob, this is the place for you. Seriously. No judgement and nothing but support and friendliness, even from fellow clients of ALL fitness levels...it's not like any other gym I've been to. I even ran into my favorite cook who used to make me zillion-calorie breakfasts at a local place, and HE's working out here, too....we had a good laugh...it's a sign! This Planet Fitness is pretty great. It's not too busy, it's pretty clean, and the workers are really friendly and most of them seem like they genuinely remember you. At one point, I broke my ankle so I was unable to come, but they were really awesome with helping me to keep my membership while staying on a budget. I've brought in a couple guests, and the staff never acts like it's too much work. The hydro-massage is definitely a plus. Great place, I'll be keeping my black-card membership for a while :) read more

Great gym enjoyed my time here. Clean and good staff, my only complaint would be lack of dumbbell weight.

I have been a member for a few months now and I love this gym! Always clean in the facility and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I love this gym for its non-intimidating atmosphere. I took my first workout class last night and it was awesome. However, we were super crammed in the corner- so I wish that there were separate rooms for group workout classes so we can have ample room. But the trainer did the best she could and I really enjoyed her class. I love this gym and look forward to going there 4/5 times a week. read more
