The new manager Ryan does an amazing job. The place is very clean. It has just been renovated over the winter and looks great. I just wish they would put back up the signs they took down. I think the staff are friendly, laid-back and chill. At least the times I was there usually in the early morning. The reason I haven't gone back is because of the discipline it takes getting up that early in the morning and at the same time getting enough sleep. This facility can't keep up. I have been a member for several years and it always seems to be a challenge to maintain my desire to go to the gym. I like one certain elliptical machine. What do they do? They remove all but 2 of them. Of the 2 that are left they are only working 10% of the time and when they are there is always a line of people who obviously feel the same way I do. The machines are always down and when they are they are never promptly repaired. The weight machines are a catch all for texting and social media searchers. My daughter who wa home from abroad joined as a member for the summer and I joined her as her guest 4 or 5 times. First off we had an exceptional experience and never experienced the things other people have raised. The gym is clean and very well kept. The machines and treadmills all appeared to be new. We worked out and never had any problems. As a matter of fact, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and when we did have interactions with other guests and staff every =one was kind and helpful. The GM is extremely disrespectful and condescending. He gives snarky remarks whenever I ask a simple question or voice a concern. His behavior and attitude alone has made me consider canceling my membership. The staff is seen laughing at people when working out, pointing, and making fun of people's bodies. I've seen it on numerous occasions and has made me feel like this gym is an unsafe environment. read more

I've been to this PF location a few times before writing this review. I don't think I've had a positive/friendly interaction with any staff here yet. I was raised to speak politely and to be considerate of others, so that's typically how I interact with people... maybe I'm wrong for hoping others are the same way(?) I was about to leave the gym, but had not yet because the car was still warming. I grabbed two tootsie roll candies to eat in the mean time. After I ate them, I began to approach the from desk. I kindly asked the employee "where's the nearest trash bin?" I noticed there was one almost directly behind her. She gave me a rude look at snapped "they're all around the gym". I felt like I just disappointed my mother in the worse way after the look she gave me. I replied "I notice there's one right behind you. May I please throw it in there?" The employee snatched(!!) the candy wrappers from my hand and threw them behind her. She didn't even aim for the trash bin. I politely said "you missed", walked away, and sat down as my car continued to warm. She mumbled something, but I wasn't close enough to hear. Next, a few other customers approached the desk and asked a question. Then they said something else when the employee replied "this guy is being an asshole" and point at me. I heard it and saw her gesture, but I did not react. Instead I continued to wait until my car was warm enough to leave, then I left. Writing this review saddens me, because I love working out at PF. I wish this never happened and I hope to have positive and friendly interactions in the future. read more

People that go to PF are so overdramatic. It's a cheap gym that has standard equipment. If the equipment works and its clean that's good enough for me. I'm not trying to be a body builder. If they don't have what you need for your workout, its simple. DON"T SIGN UP. Don't just complain. Compared to the other gyms in the area, I like this one. Its still pretty new. They have small TVs on the treadmills with remotes that you can set to any channel (although I can't figure out how to listen to them), iPod chargers on the treadmill and bikes, and multiple weight machines of the same variety so you don't have to wait. If you come after 8pm during the week its not overcrowed. read more

I workout at this Planet Fitness location (former Eckerd Drugs) in Brunswick quite a bit using my Black Card. This gym and the equipment here is fairly new compared to my home gym (company owned) back in NH. Locally, I prefer this Planet Fitness over the Clifton Park and East Greenbush locations and a slight edge over the Loudonville location. There are plenty of treadmills equipped with individual flat panel TVs (plenty of TWC channels to choose from - Thanks to Mike L. for the helpful tip, pointing out that there is a headphone jack between the two screws on the left side of the metal remote holder). Most of the time there is a variation of upbeat music pumping loudly from the speakers including some new and classic pop/dance music. The water at the drinking fountains is nice and cold. The locker room facilities seem clean. However, the stretching area (mats) is very limited, which is near the 30 Minute Workout area. I do appreciate there are big ceiling fans going above the treadmills while I'm running hard for a full 70 minutes in the zone blasting nonstop Selena Gomez music under my headgear. The combination of the Planet Fitness treadmills, my drive, and my "Inspiration" have helped me to lose over 60 lbs in 2013. This Brunswick location is open 24 hours, but only Mon-Thurs. This PF closes at 9PM on Fridays and is open on the weekends from 7AM to 7PM. My home gym in NH is open 24 hours 7 days a week, where I can workout in peace on Saturday nights in an empty gym. read more

Went to the planet fitness on Hoosic st in Troy ny. I went to front desk said there a lot of people not wearing mask. I just got over COVID. They said they understood. So I waitEd about 1/2 hr. Nothing was said to the people went back up to the front desk they said they have a mask on. I said What ? This person was not mandating the mask they have one is all he cared about. I don't want to wear a mask either but I don't want COVID again. read more

Corona virus is here. That being said I was charged an annual fee from this gym. I asked for mine and my wife's account be reimbursed because during the virus we don't feel safe yet with using their services. I was told by Megan they don't reimburse money. I as of now will close my account permanently and will never go back to Planet Fitness again. Be careful public. These guys will rip you off. I will find another gym after this virus. read more

I didn't experience a lot here, because things started off bad right away. I approached a female with a hideous nose ring and expressed an interest in signing up. She looked off to the side and opened her eyes wide, as if she was annoyed because it was time to do some work. She introduced herself as Sara. I mentioned that I had an interest in the treadmills, so she told me that her girlfriend Katie uses them because she's trying to lose weight. It made me feel like I was fat. I asked her if the other person behind the counter was her friend. She told me no, because her co-worker is old and in their 40's. I said excuse me? I'm 37 so I'm getting there. She awkwardly apologized, and told me that she is "Gen Z" so everyone seems old to her. I knew she was super immature because not only did she have the hideous nose ring, but she was disrespectful from the start. Eventually she offered me a tour of the gym, but I told her I didn't think it was for me. I was really just trying to get away from her and leave. I was in Troy for a work conference and needed to get my workout in. This PF was conveniently 1.3miles away from the hotel. At first glance it's small but once inside the different equipments, staff friendliness and 75lbs dumbles made up for it. Clientele's definitely had gym Etiquette. People re-rack weights, not wasting time on equipments texting, no kids walking around looking for attention, trainers look like they actually use the gym, staff working, staff greets you and say have a nice day. Its a gym, its clean, it gets the job done. Pros- Clean well arranged and spacious Cons- No grunting, really? oh I'm sorry I'm working on my buffness and I lift a weight thats heavy, I'm only trying to work on getting stronger! Come on! Free weight selection is not there! There is no free bar, its a Smith machine, and the dumbells only go up to 75lbs. Now, on to the questionable stuff. They allow baseball caps, but not winter skull caps or hoodies? Really? That says a ton to me. Without me going off on a sad telling rant, I will just say I really understand who planet fitness wants to keep out of there, what type of clientele. I didn't know that was a policy, and someone had to come over to me and "sir we don't allow skull caps of hoodies." Really? I have been to many planet fitness locations throughout NYS. This one and loudonville has the rudest staff I have ever encountered. If you need a tanning bed set you can forget it because the front desk will act like your interfering with them on their cell phone or chit chat with other staff. Or they will try to flirt with you and make inappropriate comments and when you ignore them they call you names! I firmly believe the people at the front desk should be smiley and cheerful not miserable. The bathrooms at this location are TERRIBLE. I am a female and I would rather go outside than use these. They smell terrible. The garbages are usually overflowing. Because of my constant terrible experiences I have since canceled my membership after 9 years and went elsewhere read more

It's a Planet Fitness. It has a lunk alarm, it doesn't have dumbbells over 75lbs, it doesn't have any free weight stations. We all should know this by now since this is their value proposition, their business plan, and they are doing very well for themselves. HOWEVER, It's clean (both the gym and the locker room), tons of new cardio equipments (with individual TV screens), many smith machines, a variety of weight equipments. It will get the job done if you use it correctly. If you are looking for heavier dumbbells, or free weight stations, this is not a right gym for you. read more

Well joined the gym again, with two other friends. Did this once before at planet fitness in eastgreenbush and gaff and okay experience. This time friends want to make a change for the better in life and I went work it. Went with my friend since he could bring guest, walk around Wynn him and merry the manager ace, he was great walk us through the gym and told us about the classes and other free stuff off you were a black card member. Only complaint is that the scale has been broken in the men's locker room for like 4 months. I mean, how long does it take to replace the scale with a working one? This gym is chill, there have been a few times the front desk people are in a huddle chatting up about their weekend and forget to scan me in let alone say hi but I don't go to the gym to make friends. When the staff does interact they're cool. My biggest pet peeve is the spray tan machine which has been "broken" for the last two months! When you call and ask if it's up and working yet they answer with "well are you a member?" If I said no would you tell me that it's working until I get in there and you tell me otherwise? Just a ton of teenagers not well managed but not impolite. read more

Not sure what it is about this place but the atmosphere just isn't great. I have been to 3 other gyms in the capital district and I have never had this issue. I really dislike going here. The way they have the treadmills set up is bad. They should have their backs to each other instead of the front of one facing someone's ass in front of you. It just feels cold and uninviting. Those big huge ceiling fans suck too. They give you a chill in the winter. They are so big that it is hard to find a spot that is not underneath them. read more

The gym itself was great but the manager Ashley is an incompetent fool that has zero concept of customer service. I recently moved and called to inquire about what my options were for my membership. She acted bothered by call and spoke with a dismissive vapid valley girl-esque tone. I had to ask continual probing questions as she was extremely resistant to giving any information. I've been to the East Greenbush branch so my review is only comparable to there. I feel like this Planet Fitness is more cramped, and there are a lot less Ellipticals. Some of them lack cup holders (broken) which sucks. Treadmills out number them and the other machine. The treadmills do however have there own TVs which I though was pretty cool, and you can change the channel. This place is filled with college kids, especially on Monday nights. I don't know why, but Mondays seem to be the busiest. 20 total TVs - 10 channels. Seems pretty clean. read more

I have worked out at a lot of Planet Fitnesses. Most of them are clean, safe places with enough equipment to get a decent workout. But this particular PF? They ADORE their lunk alarm. A man was working with his 14 year old son who was obviously new to lifting. He was using a Smith machine. On at least 4 occasions, when the boy set his bar down, one of the village idiots hit the lunk alarm. Frankly, the kid wasn't particularly loud, just not sure yet what he was doing, so there was some noise, but nothing distracting. OBVIOUSLY the kid was new to lifting, and to using that type of equipment. But, instead of encouraging his new-found interest in fitness, this bully with a PF staff shirt decided to make it a miserable experience by "LUNKING" him every chance he got. Around the 7th time (yes SEVENTH) this happened, they got their sweatshirts on and left, and who could blame them. I have not used this branch since. read more
