Not shocked to see terrible reviews. Tried canceling my membership, they just froze it, I responded telling them it needed to be cancelled completely, no response. Started getting charged again. Called to cancel. They said it can only be done in person with management to refund charge but that the manager is never in. Won't call me back or let me cancel. Don't bother joining because you'll want to cancel and they won't let you. Guy at the front desk says he gets these calls every day and management and corporate don't care. read more

Surprised by some of the negative reviews initially but I also get people's concerns. Having been to a few planet fitnesses I would say this one felt the most dated and I just think the layout and building give this gym a different vibe than the others. However, I also didn't find anything outright wrong with the gym and think they need a fair review for what they are. I love my home planet fitness gym much better for sure but when ranking for cleanliness, equipment, and staff this place definitely is just fine and hit all of the marks. The equipment was surprisingly newer given some of the elliptical I used and while the building itself looks dated and is two stories, the inside is just fine. Cleanliness here was not an issue for me coming in the morning. There was no trash and everything was very clean. I was impressed. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Being my first time in I didn't know how the vibes would be but two different staff welcomed me in and said goodbye. They were attentive and friendly. No issues at all. The women's restroom and changing room are actually much bigger than my home gym. And again, very clean and spacious inside. Really I have no complaints overall with the inside of the gym or the staff. I will happily workout here when on this side of town. The only thing I would note is that the parking lot is on the smaller side so when they get busy you may have to look for street parking. I understand the negative reviews about the unhoused community and how it could impact people's gym experience. It was a little eerie with a lot of RVs and trailers parked all around (seems like this is a parking hub for some RVs/people who aren't inside working out. But again that's just a feeling / observation I had vs anything else. I could see being uncomfortable as a female walking this parking lot at night in the dark alone but in the day / early morning I was fine. I only go to this location because it's so close to me. This location does not seem to track the equipment most used and update as needed. There are way too many treadmills and only four stairmaster machines. The 360 area is lacking... everything. The location is also not clean (the cleaner used is diluted so much, you are practically using water to "clean"), not properly maintained, majority of staff don't do much other than the minimum of greetings. Most of the time they are either on their phones or socializing with each other. Lately, many people are not putting away the equipment properly and just leaving them laying around anywhere and creating a hazard issue. I totally feel each person should clean up after themselves but if they don't, the staff should really be picking up since they are not doing much anyways. Finally decided to post a review when the women's bathroom was so disgusting I had to take photos. On this day at least one stall was completely empty of toilet paper and seat covers, another stall was super gross and there was NO SOAP!! And finally, they obviously have a rodent problem since there was a trap in the locker room area. read more

The general staff at the Ventura Planet fitness has been great. However, their manager Brian Bello is atrocious. I was double charge an annual fee, I spoke to Brian who admitted it was an error on their part and would fix it. Over 2 months later and still not taken care of. I have only been able to speak to him once since the original conversation as he no shows to work consistently. He has no business being a manager. I can't reach out to his superior because the staff does t have contact info. Do better Planet Fitness!!! read more

Went to check out planet fitness and I can't say I loved it, but I also can't say I hated it. The parking situation was kind of a mess for it being 9:30AM on a Thursday, but the staff inside was really nice and helpful so that helps their score. Inside the gym was pretty clean and organized, however the amount of people compared to the amount of space in the gym doesn't make much sense. If you're looking for a place to workout occasionally or if you're not super serious this is a solid option, however if weight training is something that's super important I'd consider other options read more

This gym has not had working air conditioning EVER. They also are too cheap to buy 2 floor fans for $50. It is abusively hot in here. Not just hot, but hot and stuff with NO airflow. I get so nauseous trying to do my workout here. I'm canceling and going anywhere else. read more

This place is super clean and has a lot of options. Great monthly pricing. The Black Card Spa I wish they had a way to not have to ask every time you want something turned on. If it's a black card spa then allow us to have a card to scan and use as needed or wanted. When you ask for the usage of things the staff has attitudes. Over all I'm very happy here though. I was just threatened by one of the patrons because he wanted my machine. I told him I had one more set, 1 minute. He left and came back by calling me a fn pussy fagot! I went to the desk to complain. Another gentleman stopped by the desk to confirm his behavior and language. He was told to leave and waited outside for me. I asked the desk to call 911. They did not. A friend walked out with me to hear a barrage of obscenities and physical threats. At 73 y/o, I really don't want to fight 35 y/o overaggressive body builders. One treat of bodily injury is too many. Aug 21 2025 between 10:15 and 11:15 AM our car while parked in PF designated parking was maliciously keyed on both sides of our car, front to rear, while working out inside the gym. Security NO! No cameras outside to protect the clients! Shame on PF for neglecting their own Management "Brian's" request for camera coverage with multiple incidents reported in the same area of the pf parking lot where our car was KEYED! If I could give this a 10 - that would be even better. There is a manager Gabriel that is in charge. The problem I had with this manager is his control of what he thinks you should view. I would go to this gym 5 to 7 days a week. Just on the treadmill. Mine had broke. I was convenient to run in do my 3 miles and leave. once in a while I will do floor work but I have a heavy work schedule and this gym is small and they keep it 85 percent clean. they have a format that they are to follow on the tv screen. So they have a little bit of variety. I am on the treadmill for about an hour so the visual are the tv's. I am not much into tv with the exception of news and I am not talking about local news . I was told last year to go upstairs which is very isolating. I have a job that is very isolating and that did not work for me. I tried to meet him half way. I was seeking corporate to report this and Gabriel intervene to have a happy medium. After all this was not asking for something new and was on the format they keep changing around instead of letting it be. This year is was all well and fine and in fact and I mentioned to him that I was grateful that he worked it out. I have met some good people. I have always gave respect to all member and staff. Until I was out for 4 days and when I came back again it was taken off. This manager Gabriel took off one of the news channel because a member and her friend complained and wanted it off. And left the other on. Instead of ignoring what she did not like to see as I do with the other new channel and actually I keep an open mind to watch both to see who is telling the truth. Well, Gabriel you lost a member because you don't believe in free speech and you want to censor. You just show what political side you are on when you needed to be neutral We got into an escalated conversation and one of his employees (red Hair) rude young man advising to go upstairs and I advised him the manager and I went through that last year. And advise 3 times. I guess trying to score points with the manager. I don't want to know your political side. I just wanted to get on the treadmill get a moment away from work and start my day. I am a senior and this needs to be address with changing around the channels So i know what to expect. I will never suggest to anyone to go to this gym not until the straighten out the management that want to censor and brain wash to what he believes you should view. I guess members don't count. I absolutely LOVE this planet fitness location. I've gone to a few here in VC but Ventura lo takes the crown. This one is always so clean , stocked on everything , the staff is great & they play great music. All associates that work in this location are always great. Andre is always very knowledgeable and demonstrates courtesy, and the manager Gabe always shares a smile , assists you right away with any requests & made getting my membership experience absolutely great. The inside of the gym is ok, its the surrounding atmosphere that sucks. Every time I go into the parking lot it is like a homeless shelter for drug addicts. Homeless living in their cars and RV's everywhere in the parking lot. All you can smell is weed and cigarettes every time every time you go into gym. It doesn't help there is a methadone clinic across the street. My daughter is scared to death to walk in the parking lot by herself. I pay $24.99 for the black card membership. It includes massage chairs, 1/2 off drinks, etc. Just tonight I went in and did my usual workout and wanted to use the massage chair. They had me wait 2 minutes and then called me up to scan my card. I went back to the massage chairs and it was being taken by two people. There's only 2 specific chairs for this. I asked both females sitting if their turn was over and they both said no. I went to the front desk and instead of them checking out the situation or offering to speak to both females, they shrugged their shoulders. To both of the females there one of y'all was in my chair! Don't do that. Be respectful of others! And as for the staff, the way it was handled makes me not want to spend an extra $15 to be embarrassed like that. read more

Still an amazing gym! The lack of AC is starting to really be a bother.... I love getting a sweat in but when it feels like I can't breathe.... that's where I draw the line. I've so very unfortunately had to cut my workouts down from 1hr 30min to 1 hr cause it's just too stuffy and hot. I've also noticed most of their stellar employees leaving. There used to be 3 people that worked there that were WONDERFUL!! I would go to them for advice and even new routine ideas. It's shocking after trying to get signed up after being a loyal customer of mavericks. They had my old account cause I had been working out in Camarillo and Oxnard under that account for a year. I went in 2 weeks ago and got everything transferred over to planet fitness. They got my ID and credit card. They charged my card for the initial payment and all I needed was my bank account to finish the process. The guy told me to bring in my account number and I'd be all set. I went in today to find out my account had been canceled and the front desk guy wanted me to sign up everything again. I don't have my ID or bank card cause I was told I didn't need it. He said to sign up on the kiosks which I tried only to find out that none of them were working. He said to use my phone. But I want willing to pay the credit card fee yet again. He said well if you go home and get my ID he would help. I said look I'm not gonna be inconvenienced to do business with you. I've already done this and paid. You got my initial fee he claimed I didn't but my card was tan. Regardless my was my brand new account cancelled and why would a brand new business let a new customer out the door. It's fine. The layout is garbage. There is enough cardio machines for 5 different gyms with hardly any options for weights. Hope these clowns aren't here long and we can get some competence. Aright, I was not a gym person. I'm not a physically fit person. Up until Brandon, the trainer at this location, I wasn't a very energetic person. Brandon changed the game for me in terms of confidence, enjoyment, and consistency. I knew cardio machines and that was it. Within three weeks and not even a dozen classes later I was able to follow a structured workouts, that he designed FOR ME that focused on different parts of the body, on my own, with confidence...and enjoyed it? Who would have guessed it, I became a "gym" person. This isn't just a friend hyping him up. I was a stronger off the street, very overweight & lost when it came to strength and endurance training. Brandon is fantastic about modified movements for different levels of mobility & will meet you where you're at. Regardless of knowledge or experience I would recommend meeting him & having a conversation about your goals. read more

We've waited and waited for the new Ventura Planet Fitness gym to come to the old Maverick's gym, always being told "It's coming soon." And now it's finally opened. What a huge disappointment! Two things: Junk Equipment and horrible gym layout. Let's back up. Several years ago when the two Maverick's were build in Oxnard, and then in Camarillo, the franchise were owned by a couple guys back in the mid west. They were both very good friendly owners (I met them). They provided both gyms with the best equipment and the quality showed ( Hammer Strength, StairMaster etc) Fast forward, the two owners sold to an investment group solely concerned with profits and high returns. Now when the good equipment from the previous owner's goes bad, it's being replaced with cheap Chinese knock off's that are basically junk. This is off brand crap. I asked top management about this decision to go with inferior equipment and their only reply was it wasn't their decision, it was made at the corporate level. The new equipment at the Ventura Planet Fitness looks good because it new. It's not user friendly and it has the potential for injury as I experienced personally. I'm returning to Oxnard and Camarillo where some of the old equipment still remains, and once it's gone, I'll be gone as well. read more

If I could give this place a negative review I would. I walked in today inquiring about services regarding membership & how it works. The woman tells us about their top tier membership and tells us about the price per month. It's explained to me it's by automatic payments via deduction from a bank account. I ask is there a way to pay by cash? I can pay for the year. Strong no. What about a credit card? Again no. Then she thinks she lost a sale and practically throws the paper at me and ends the conversation. Wow, she lost it now. No continuing to talk about the other plans. No showing us around. Or even offering any deals that might meet my needs. I was shocked. I couldn't believe how I was treated. I am hesitant to just give someone my banking information not because I'm old school, but more so because I've experienced credit fraud. If she was a good salesman she would have tried to show me all the reasons why I'd want to join their gym. Not think, if I can't get the top tier sale then ef it your not worth my time. To the kid manning the front, you are the reason kids should have not received a trophy for just participating in a sport. Your negative attitude and closed mindedness will always hender your growth.
