I went to this Planet Fitness, because it was close to Hidden Pond Park & Nature Center. We were going to hike the trails there, and I wanted to do the total body enhancement session at Planet Fitness before the hike. It is a small place, yet the place was clean with a larger black card members' lounge area than what I am accustomed to in past visits to other Planet Fitnesses - with large black couches and widescreen TV in a large sitting area I was able to stop in and leave fast without delays. If I ever go to Hidden Pond Park alone, I will definitely stay longer & do a workout here before hiking the trails. read more

Very disappointed in several of the staff. Some of them don't even look up when a customer enters (much less initiate a friendly greeting when a customer enters). It feels like these staff couldn't care less or be bothered, despite the fact that we pay their salaries. Frankly, I'm tired of offering a cheery greeting when they can't even look up from their stupid cell phone. PJ is a rare exception; she is AWESOME and very responsive if there is an equipment issue!! Give her a big raise!! Tonight I witnessed a PF manager (30-ish female, nose ring and lip ring) working out with her boyfriend, caressing, hugging, and kissing him. Yuck! Highly inappropriate and unprofessional -- if a regular customer had been doing this, I'm hoping management would step up and tell them to get a room. Is this really okay with upper management? Please talk to your staff. I'm quite sure they can do better. read more

Small and under-maintained. From late spring to early fall, you gotta bee real selective due to free-for-kids policy. "young adults" crowd machines, spending more time talking and on their phones than exercising and general wasting normal folks' time. While this location is one of the better ones near my location, they are still u fortunately poorly maintained... rust on so many machines because of humidity, and so many pieces of equipment that are just ripped up and beaten from over use and no maintenance. It's one of the more compact PF's around as there isn't much room to do anything's there's no true TRX equipment and the stretch area is confined so tightly that there's often very little room. That being said, the staff do seem to try to keep it clean but i would like to see more attention to maintaining equipment. These are simple cheap things to do to keep it performing best! read more

It had been a minute since I had been back at the gym, and after taking a tour of the gym, I signed up for a membership yesterday. This gym is definitely the most convenient ient for me because I literally live 3 blocks away. There is a gym at my work, that I use sometimes, but I am a much better gym person when I'm able to come first thing in the morning, and get my workout finished for the day. They are open super early which is great for me. This gym is also fairly new, and the equipment that I regularly use is modern. There are only a handful of machines that I use, along with the treadmill which is what I finish first. The employees have been great, and everyone who I've dealt with have been nice as well. My membership isn't long term yet, but I hope to continue to have great workouts here. read more

Planet Fitness is a great gym for the price point. I have the Black card membership which allows me to visit any PF and bring a guest. This is a nice location in the area. I can generally get on the machines I want, and it is generally 24/7. It doesn't have the same variety of machines as some other locations and can be crowded at times, but it's manageable. Comparing PF to other more expensive gyms it's really a great value. PF also offers the massage chairs, tanning beds, and uv treatments offered by other high end brands. I highly recommend PF, and this location is fine if it's convenient to you. read more

I liked this Planet Fitness because generally equipment I use was available and atmosphere is accepting of older folks. Then the other day they upgraded lots of their equipment. Sometimes such upgrades or improvements and sometimes they are disimprovements. Lots of leg exercise equipment. Bye bye equipment I used for upper body and arm strength. Plus, adios sit up benches. One new sit up bench was added but it is an odd contraption that does not give a full rep. So, it's time for me to mosey on to another gym. read more

This place is good for beginner-level lifters, but the limited amount of weights to progressively overload is subpar. On the other hand, the machines are excellent in quality but greatly limited in quantity. I have found myself waiting every time, for long periods, on multiple occasions. The dumbbells only go up to 75 lbs, and I have gotten complaints from staff about "slamming" the weights when I've never gotten such remarks from prior gyms I've been to. You can't beat the price range, but I'd recommend a more viable option if you're more of an advanced lifter or intermediate. read more

All of us over this pandemic, may have eaten or exercised less than we want to normally. That's why this place's no judgement or drama policy, is always wonderful along with feeling valued. The staff who work here, thank you to the kind men and women whom are friendly, professional, along with always being happy to help. We all are in different stages of fitness, and recovering from several surgeries, am pleased to be seeing results. This is an extremely clean facility. As we now enter the post covid or endemic/back to normal period, my recommendation is to sign up here. There's no better investment in your health, and the equipment choices and price line are perfect for anyone. This is my favorite of all gyms, and it's never too busy either. I had rusty paint chips all over my sports drink. This is a total health hazard and I was contemplating getting a tetanus shot afterwards. If that doesn't kill me the ecoli will. * half the equipment is out of order. I hoped onto the bike machine and then realized it had no petals. I just saw giant rust holes. This is like an overcrowded, rusty, nasty, dysfunctional out of order you know what hole. The gym has a clean feel when you walk in. It appears the equipment is only cleaned by the members. Probably not reality, but it is perception. The cell phone holders on the treadmills have probably never been cleaned. (Pic attached) What really drove me to post is the unfriendly gentleman working at the front desk yesterday and today. He truly has no business in a customer/member facing atmosphere. I am here temporarily for work, and just started coming to this gym. I can overlook some of the cleanliness issues in the gym, but they are amplified by a rude employee, no matter what place of business you enter. This is a direct reflection of the leadership in the building. One person can ruin it for your business. Hope this helps. read more

I have been attending Planet Fitness on Old Keen Mill Poad near Rolling road in Springfield for over a year and 3 months. I have a complaint over the early morning staff member's attitudes. Lesa is wonderful and friendly. Great gal. As for the rest of them: the primary male employee sits at the desk with his nose glued to his cellphone - ALL THE TIME. He is sullen, unfriendly, close to being rude. He is not the person for the the best first impression at the frond door. His attitude can be characterized as: 'I'm busy playing with my cell phone - DO NOT BOTHER ME! In the year plus that I have been there, he has never spoken to me except when addressed. HE NEVER SMILES OR IS PLEASANT! The best verbalization you get from him is a growl. If I were his supervisor, I would tell him to put away his cell phone while at work - or hit the road. If he cant live without it while he has a job to do (i.e.: being a public representative to the clients for this business) he does not belong here. I would think he should look for a position thet pays him for playing video games. The others at the desk at 6:30 to 7:00 am (with the exception of Lisa) have no interest in being helpful or friendly. Best recommendation - make Lisa the manager and send the others off to charm school - elsewhere. read more

There are so many machines that are out of order and nothing is being done about it. The rowing machines and one of the leg press in particular have been out of order for months. Some of the machines are broken and there are not signs to indicate that. It's already a super small gym so it's an issue when do many machines are out of order. read more

Great PF and wonderful staff. They remembered my name as I walked in and out of the facility. The lockers were self lock and they had this great lounge area. I don't have much to say about this gym I was only there once and stayed 90 Minutes, but I would come back. read more

We re new members - my husband and I. We enjoy having many machines available, and that there is a crowd meter to get an idea of how crowded the gym is before we arrive . Upon arriving our first time , no one explains things to you unless you ask. The desk clerks are somewhat aware of what is going on in the gym half the time. We have seen them at times eating right at the main counter and having to wait to ask a question, as they were talking to each other. I did see a staff member cleaning some machines today . At times , the treadmills have this high pitched beep, but the employees don't seem to know how to shut it off. The bathrooms and showers appear clean. I'm not sure how often people really clean the machines as they re supposed to after using (paper towels and spray bottles available ). It's a great price for us, and the only thing it seems to lack is a strong staff so far . If you have a question using equipment there's a bar code to scan for a tutorial video. Winter is here , so it's great to be able to work out ! read more

I had business trip down in Richmond last Sunday.....PF is literally the best gym Nationalwide if you compare their stocks n what other gyms trying to match the deal of PF.......Sean & Brittany did an awesome job on keeping the equipment clean & organized...whereas day shift employees were being rude....few of the day shift employees need to be trained more properly on how to deal with customers!!!!! This gym gets incompetent by day. Every time I come here, there is a new problem, but what happened today is the most serious. I don't know what the employees were doing, but I'm assuming they were cleaning the treadmills. They decided not to put a sign on them and leave them turned on. There was no warning whatsoever and I went on it and fell. I saw the same thing happen to other people as well. Something like this is a big deal and the least these employees could've done was leave a sign to let everyone know. read more

Honestly I did not think I would ever join another gym. I got headaches from crowds, long term commitments and gross locker rooms with naked older people. This was not the case at this gym. I love this place! It's about 7 minutes from my home and has lots of parking. It's clean... the workout areas to the large locker rooms seem immaculate. Their quirky image of no "lunking" and no "judging" is fun! But what lured me into a tour was the $10 a month commercials! The thing that sold me and MY HUBBY into joining was the awesome staff and the clean workout areas. This has more than a bunch of equipment. They have tons of TVs, tons of equipment and it's clean. I can go in and workout like I'm in my old little world. Yes, Dr. Phil and other daytime TV shows(lots of TVs) are a distraction but you can't escape that drama. The $10 monthly membership has no commitment. They also offer a Black membership that entitles you access to a special lounge with tanning booths, massage chairs, unlimited guests privileges and use of their gyms in other cities. That's a whopping $19 a month. You can also switch tiers whenever you want... so far... I am motivated to exercise! read more

Thank goodness this is not my 'home' Planet Fitness. I just happened to be in the area so I thought I would run in to tan. I was given booth #4. Absolutely filthy! I wouldn't even try to guess the last time it had been cleaned. I lost 2 minutes of my tanning session because of cleaning the booth multiple times. Seven bulbs were out when I did get in. In the environment we have been in the past two years, I was stunned to have such an experience at a Planet Fitness. I did share my experience with the two individuals at the front desk. Every time I go in the staff are either huddled together talking or sitting on the sofas and on their cell phones. I joined Planet Fitness because of its 30 minute Circuit training area, but every time I have gone there is always someone using that equipment that is not doing the circuit training even though it's clearly stated on rules in the area, I have to always go to the front desk and ask someone tell the person who is not following the rule/instructions; because if I ask the person they state that they were there first and then they state on the equipment for another 10 or 15 minutes with periods of texting. It is intimating to be a member telling other members what the rules are. Plus there are a lot of teenagers there who are not respectful and sometimes goofy off on the equipment. I tried to tame one of the classes offered there but the trainer seemed not interested and not helpful, like she didn't really want to be there. read more

Springfield Planet Fitness is perfect from my perspective. Weights, cardio equipment, clean, great Hyromassage beds, tanning and nice front desk people. If I had a complaint it would be some members being allowed to sit on the equipment while on their mobile phones not using the equipment, just chatting. Go OUTSIDE, or home just move please and let others do what they came to the gym for....Would be nice if that could be policed. Inconsiderate people unfortunately need to be told how to act and there are a few in Springfield. Maybe a few HUGE sign...get off the equipment when not using AND clean behind yourself. I'm pretty sure the women's locker room alone violates half a dozen health codes on a daily basis; never mind the rest of the place. Truly disgusting. Here's an idea - hire functioning adults and PAY THEM well enough to show up to clean occasionally and wrangle mini packs of annoying, bored teenagers (an ongoing issue). A couple of novel approaches, I guess, but so far ones upper management either ignores or refuses to investigate. Good lord! At least hire an assistant to the regional manager?? I'm typically not a huge fan of Planet Fitness, particularly as someone very passionate about working out, it's always seemed a bit too limited for me. But I found myself getting a membership last week due to convenience of location to my job, and my usual 24 Hour Fitness gym doesn't have a lot of locations in the DC area, plus the Black Card allows unlimited guest privileges, which is great because I work out with my girlfriend a lot, and it's nice not having to pay extra for her at PF. However, Planet Fitness can still get the job done, if you're serious about it. I'll never understand people that say you can't get a legitimate workout at Planet Fitness. Those people are clearly not working out right. It's a pretty decent-sized gym, clearly cardio-focused, as there are a LOT of cardio machines - treadmills, elliptical machines, etc. They offer some extras, like spa, hydrotherapy, etc., which I can't comment on, as I've never used them. They have lots of free weights, mostly lower weights, and a few higher weights, but they only go up to 60 lbs, so if you're a serious body-builder looking to lift some super heavy weights, this isn't the place for you when it comes to free weights. But they also have plenty of resistance machines. The machines do offer more weight, so you don't have to just rely on the free weights, but it would be nice if they would at least go up to 70, but I get it. As with all PF locations, they do tout themselves a "judgement-free zone," complete with the "Lunk Alarm" if you're being too noticeably hardcore in the gym (which, as far as I'm concerned is judging in and of itself, but whatever), but I've never had an issue with it yet. I love that this location also has ALL of their lockers with their own easy-to-use built-in locks. I always bring my own lock, but their built-in locks are much more convenient. The showers are decent and have good water pressure, though the showers seem to fluctuate between hot and cold even when you have the heat turned all the way up, but that's only a minor issue. Overall, for the price, convenience of options, and cleanliness, I would highly recommend Planet Fitness, particularly this location. Every location is different in its own way, but this one works for the basics of what I need, even though I primary lift. I have to dock a star for the lunk alarm and the limitations of their free weights, even though these are at all locations, but still. Not the best gym if you're a serious lifter, but it can definitely get the job done, and you get what you pay for, and even in this case, you get a little more than what I'd expect for the very affordable price. read more

At the front desk, it remains so, very rough workers, additionally non-professionals with their own equipment. The club seems to be generally clean, everything is fine. I just cancelled my membership because I had tried THREE times with various managers to get my account frozen. I have a fractured pelvis and DESPITE a letter from my doctor, which I shared three times with the organization, they ignored it and kept billing me. Three strikes - you're out! This location has very inept management and they left me no choice but to cancel completely. I will not be going back. read more

Bad experience this evening, 11/15/20. Extremely rude front desk associate who was not helpful and seemed annoyed that I walked in 45 minutes prior to closing. He was doing absolutely nothing the entire time but counting down the minutes to closing. Meanwhile, his co-worker was at least trying to keep busy and be useful. This rude and unprofessional associate made sure everyone was out of the gym before 7. This guy should definitely not be working the front desk interacting with customers because he is unfriendly and unwelcoming. Also, the gym was dirty and unsanitary. I've read other reviews talking about the poor customer service, and the unprofessional staff. The manager at this location is not at all professional. I also said that the regional manager for this franchise owner doesn't care. What response did I and others get back from customer service? "Contact the manager at this location." Useless. Yikes and No. Very dirty and the people are rude at this location. Sound the alarm. Turned in a written cancellation which was not processed and had to go in and cancel a second time. Hassle free, I think not. Staff were 'not able to cancel without the manager' and the manager was 'on break'. Stand your ground and quote your contract.
