Great place in Oshkosh to grab a sandwich, salad, wrap or some great coffee! The shop is veteran owned and it's evident they give back to the community quite a bit. I love supporting local businesses, especially when they are contributing to the community. The food itself was so good. I ordered a chicken salad wrap and although it seems like such a minute thing, the amount of meat in my wrap was impressive. The ingredients were top quality and everything was made fresh. Returning to planet perk is a very nostalgic experience for me. When I was applying to nursing school I spent countless hours in here enjoying the low key tunes and charming decor. At that point in my life I didn't even know if I would get into nursing school, let alone graduate. I'm now married to a fellow nurse and completing the last portion of nurse practitioner school after spending some time as an ICU RN. Cheers to places like this that aid in our professional and personal growth. One "Perk" of this place is their absolutely fantastic coffee. I'm a die hard Chai Latte fan- and boy do they deliver. After 4 years of being away from Planet Perk, I returned to find my rewards stamp card in the same place I had left it the last time I was here. So much to love here! I have to begin with the option for a gluten free bagel. I almost cried. A bagel sandwich! Made. My. Day. So much so that I will still give five stars even though they forgot the veg on my sandwich. (Check your order before you leave if it's carry out) I'm on a whirlwind road trip and this is the first place I've been in four days that has shown any signs of covid awareness- they have separators between close seating. It's also the only place I've seen in Wisconsin to recycle (hotels included). Even better, they compost! What?! Amazing. Note to the owners, the website link from Yelp is wrong. They offer intelligencia roast as I understand is out of Chicago.. Very tasteful roast. Their specialty coffee based drinks are very good. Perhaps they can work on making them excellent (but that is entirely subjective.) Service, offerings and ambiance remind me of San Francisco Bay Area coffee shops. Good food offerings. WiFi seems to be quality so far, in fact, they may be at 5g speeds and that is extremely important for my type of work. Prices are moderate (subjective.) For the Oshkosh area (I am new to the area), the prices seem just cents on the dollar more than perhaps other shops nearby. In comparison to my home town of S.F., or, Milwaukee/Chicago for that matter, seems to be much more affordable. Other than the owner, the location seems to employ all women as of the date of this posting. They also employ one African American and I can appreciate to see diversity here. Site and bathrooms are kept tidy and clean, a plus! They also serve three different types of craft beer (tap), which I enjoy after noon and it's a nice option to have. They even have an IPA! Parking space available is ok, not plentiful. Outside seating available is plentiful and a very nice option to have when warm outside. read more

Food and coffee were decent but definitely not worth the ridiculously long wait and lack of customer service. I wasn't acknowledged whatsoever when I walked in, no hello or welcome or even a smile. I stood at the cash register for almost 5 minutes before someone finally decided to take my order. I ordered a small cold brew and sunrise wrap. I got my cold brew quickly but sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for my wrap. It wasn't super busy either so not really sure why it took forever. Very nice atmosphere, food took about 12 min to come out. Prices are comparable to other coffee shops. I had the tuna (surprise) I liked the sandwich but it could have been better if there were more tuna. The tuna to lettuce to bread ratio was way off. For $5 I can get a lot of tuna elsewhere. I probably won't order it again if they don't "beef" or rather "tuna" it up. The vegetable beef soup was great but came out Luke warm. I will def give them another chance in the future. I have been going to planet perk for a while now and I've always thought they had the best iced chai.. until recently. Today I ordered an iced spiced chai with skim milk, when I got it it was still hot at the bottom with ice at the top. When I stirred it, all the ice melted and the drink became way too watery. I've never had this problem. Also I ordered an apple bagel, which I've also had before and really liked. Today the bagel came with very little to no cream cheese and cinnamon, and the apple was cut into very thick slices with the seeds still in it. I was in Oshkosh on a Sunday morning and I wanted to find a place to get breakfast and to get some work done. With this being a cafe, there are plenty of coffee drinks and teas to help you wake up. Honestly, all you need is one big HELLO from the staff and you'll wake right up. The staff were uber happy, and very chipper for a Sunday morning. I asked them what was good for breakfast and they all suggested the Sunrise Breakfast Wrap and one suggested to add bacon. That was a GREAT choice! I should have asked if it came with a side, because it didn't...but not a big deal. There's a very homey feeling to this place as it seemed like the staff knew a lot of people that came in that morning. If they didn't, it wasn't hard for them to keep a conversation. I believe the owner was there himself as he was chatting with friends and interacting with the staff. It was just filled with happinesses. It's a better hangout place then trying to get work done. Unimaginably bad service and ridiculous wait time. I went to Planet Perk today as it is close to where I work. I had not been there in over a year because the last time I did go there was for a bagel and cup of coffee and it took them 30 minutes to complete that order and I was the first customer in the door that day. I ordered at 11:55. My order was not complex at all - an breakfast panini with turkey. At 12:25 - no food. I had to return to work. I told one of the four people working to just give my paid for food to someone else. That is completely and totally unacceptable for a business whose main purpose it is to provide service to be that slow. I was so unhappy because I really hoped things had changed. This place is solid enough overall. I have not tried their food but I have hung out here for coffee several times. First of all, they have Intelligentsia coffee. You can also buy it in bulk here, and they tell you the roasting date. That is where most of the stars are coming from here. Standard coffee is still standard drip brew in a big carafe, but it is still pretty solid compared to other options. Note: I have updated this review to reflect that they've renovated and the space inside is much more open and literally bigger. The place looks great and has a very nice vibe. Intelligentsia coffee is very flavorful and they make excellent lattes. The cranberry orange scones are the perfect combination of flavor moistness and slightly sweet. We enjoyed breakfast here during EAA Airventure. I can understand some of the negative reviews because it took about 20 minutes to get three breakfast burritos. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the coffee and food is good! I come here a lot now. I also love the "pay it forward" wall. A great idea! One suggestion..... simple syrup for iced coffee (not flavored syrup). It's easy to make and keep. Adding granulated sugar to iced coffee does not have a good result. Planet Perk has a unique menu (with vegetarian options) and super friendly employees. I've never had to wait in line even at lunchtime! I always order the Milano (eggplant) sandwich and a café latte. It loses a star for seating. Although there is a good amount of seating, even some outdoors, the space doesn't allow for there to be much space between tables. Some people might like that though. I went here with limited option due to work location and time. I have to say that I will not be going back to this place. I had to wait 15 minutes for a $6.50 turkey sandwich. The sandwich was the size I expected and the meat was pretty good, but there was no mayo which left the sandwich so very dry save for the meager, wilted tomato slices that tasted like the inside of an old refrigerator. I highly recommend going the block and a half to New Moon for way more room, same pricing, and EXCELLENT food in a little more timely fashion. I do wish I could have experienced the outdoor seating, but was frigid winter-maybe I will have to give these guys a second chance, come summer. read more

Boy I tell ya what, this place is one of the coziest, comforting places in town - but today's experience motivated me to create an account so I could leave a review here. Today was particularly tough for me, so I decided to cruise on down and pick myself up a warm beverage with my last remaining pocket change. Holding back tears, I was being a general pain in the butt trying to figure out what I could afford, and ultimately paying with a handful of quarters. The staff was very kind to me even after the hassle, and you know what this gentleman did? He made some fricking heart-shaped frothy coffee art on my drink. This dumb, cute little heart made me cry real tears - and I was a very appreciative sobbing mess. Whether this was an intentional act of kindness, or just a procedural thing, I dunno. But it made my day slightly brighter (and messier, but to be fair, I did order a Dirty Chai) and I'll be returning without a doubt. read more
