We had no plans to stop here but we were done walking around and it looked like it had a good crowd. We stopped in and were promptly greeted and seated. The menu was atypical of a small town cafe which was great! I ordered the shrimp tacos. These were the best shrimp tacos I have had to date. They had a chipotle creme with a mixture of greens, black beans and corn. With Monterey Jack cheese. The menu had a lot of interesting items and they had beer and wine as well. The inside is small but there are a decent amount of seats including bar seating, it is decorated very nice. They do have a good selection of baked goods. The Caesar salad didn't used traditional lettuce. It was mixed greens which really didn't work for us. The taco salad, while good, used the same lettuce. The grilled cornbread was good too but we could taste shrimp on it as they use the same grill. Service was a bit slow. read more

Amazing and delicious! After a hike at Devil's Lake, two of us had the Goat Cheese with roasted garlic, capers, and olive oil with perfect sourdough baguettes. This is a cool little place on the square in Baraboo. My family has been coming to this place for years. They have spacious booth seating or seats at the two counters. The staff was friendly and attentive. Eric was great. The pesto chicken sandwich had great flavor. My wife enjoyed her blackened ahi tuna sandwich and my daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese. We took a short detour off the freeway to head to Baraboo for lunch. I found this cute cafe. We were both looking for a fountain soda but their machine was being worked on so I opted for a nice Sauvignon blanc and husband had a bottle of coke. I chose the Greek salad for my meal. It was so good. Fresh veggies was accompanied with bread and a scoop of hummus. So good. Service was good. The place was packed even at 2:30 for lunch. Great experience. read more

I go to this place often. About once a week or every two weeks. My wife works nice. When I get her after work sometimes it is just nice to go here after she is done with her work. My wife works hard for her money. But sometimes I am just waking up and I don't want to cook and she is just done with her work and works very hard and doesn't feel like cooking but she is hungry. And that's where this place comes in! The food is good here. Reasonably priced. Big portions. The servers are very nice. They do a good job making sure the place is picked up and the tables are clean: the people at the grill get the orders going as soon as they get the order at the grill. I highly recommend this place and Baraboo is very lucky to have this business. All the local people that go here and visitors that come to the many beautiful parks Baraboo has to offer or the circus. If you are hungry for a good breakfast or just plain hungry before you hit the circus or go back to the park- this place is the place to go to cure your hunger. Great establishment. This place is so cute and the food, owners and desserts are wonderful. This has become our new go to place when we go skiing at Cascade. My husband and I have eaten here 4 times, and we have been very pleased with their specials and appetizers. I have to admit we've had the same exact dessert every time, because it's so good and it's not too heavy. We've had the lemon poppyseed cake that's warmed up in the grill, topped with mixed berries, and very rich homemade whipped cream (not from a can). I think we're going to have to make plans to come here in the summer because we enjoy the atmosphere of the place, it's amazing. read more

Great local spot in downtown Baraboo. Had a late takeout lunch and their clean menu choices caught my eye. Even at 1:30 PM, more than half the tables were occupied with various parties, including some outdoor seating. Nice to see it. They had a great variety of sandwiches, I dig having Mahi Mahi, salmon, and cod there. Their service was solid and prompt, no complaints from me. I ordered a vegetable buritto and an order of Mahi tacos. Both items were really tasty. The buritto had a great mix of sautéed vegetables, broccoli, egg plant, spinach, and tomatoes. Not exactly a traditional burrito but it was delicious and healthy, I didn't feel heavy or guilty eating it. This was at the top of the South Shore Devil's Door path at Devil's Lake. Great way to refuel! The mango salsa was a nice side, I wish there was a bit more. The Mahi tacos were also tasty, with a nice slaw of corn, beans, cabbage, and spicy aoili. Two large tacos and some tortilla chips were nice. While not authentic, it's still delicious and felt clean. Definitely planning to come back for more. read more

Baraboo's square and downtown area is dotted with cafes and places to eat, and Little Village Cafe has a menu very unique to itself. There's a variety of "usual" items like soups but also sandwiches and dishes with different spices and flavors such as jerk chicken, Moroccan chicken, curry, tish tacos, pasta and blackened catfish. They also have some delicious desserts like pies and cakes behind the counter to order. Very friendly service from the waitstaff every time I've gone. Any cons? There isn't a lot of seating for parties of 4 but has a very charming ambiance as its a historical 1940s landmark in Baraboo. The prices are on the higher end for some of the more "upscale" items, so we don't go here as often as some of the other local places. They open at 11 so no breakfast, which is a shame. All in all, it's a nicer option if you're looking to take it up a notch or go on a lunch date. Note: they have takeout, nice bonus! read more

Visited lavender farms in Baraboo and the farm owners recommended this cafe. The cafe is located in downtown which is like a small square with convenient free parking. The menu has jerk chicken, Moroccan chicken, tacos, burrito, salads, burgers, spaghetti, etc. Kinda confusing theme but maybe good options? I usually prefer to visit a place with its specialty like sushi, pho, etc. I would be careful in getting tacos in a Japanese restaurant unless it's fusion. Ordered the jerk chicken sandwich which was a piece of bland chicken breast in a bun. The soupa pescado which was soup of the day (it got some minced fish with carrots/potatoes). It was hot and too salty. The lemon blueberry zucchini cake was probably the best. Friendly staff and fast service. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Didn't fully know what to expect going in. Went here because my wife and I were wanting to try a new place. The space itself is not large but very intimate and cozy. Cool vintage circus posters and photos lined the walls. They have booths, tables, and a beautiful "diner" counter that lines one side of the restaurant. To our pleasant surprise this was not typical boring diner food. In fact they offer Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Tacos, Moroccan and Curry dishes! They have a decent selection of local craft beers as well as a nice sized wine selection. The kids Mac and cheese was not from a box, it was penne noodles with real cheese sauce. I got the curry chicken wrap which had such an impressive flavor profile. My son got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken burrito-delicious flavors again. My wife got the pulled steak tacos which also were super flavorful. Everything tasted fresh and was seasoned masterfully. They also offer different cakes and desserts a la mode. Our waitress, Katie, was so sweet with the children and very kind. She made us feel welcomed. I highly recommend stopping in here. We will be back again and again. read more

The Little Village Cafe in downtown Baraboo is a local historic gem with the most delicious food and wonderful service. This National Historic Register building is a time capsule into a 1940's diner. Much of the interior has vintage features, including the two countertop areas and bar-back. I ordered the feta & roasted pepper relish burger with the chips and salsa as a side. The burger was so delicious! I'd love to go back and try more. They also have a full bar and yummy desserts. If you are headed for a bite to eat with a group larger than 2-3, I would strongly encourage making a reservation ahead of time if possible! To be honest I was a little weary about ordering Jamaican Jerk Chicken from a small cafe in a little town in Wisconsin. We went here for dinner to take a break from campfire food and I was pleasantly surprised. The jerk chicken burrito was really good; Chunks of chicken and beans inside with mango salsa on top. Others in my group ordered the chipotle burrito, the southwest burrito, the salmon, a pasta dish, and the jamaican jerk chicken meal. ALL of our plates were cleared by the end of the meal.
