Not only did I enjoy the vibe and people of the office, I've never felt more heard, comfortable and cared for by any medical provider like NP Kayla showed me. My procedure went as planned. I am on a journey taking control of my health. This appointment was a huge step of self confidence and trust. I scheduled my first visit 4 days ago with no insurance and 4 positive pregnancy tests. I received the email prior showing me a total of $100 would be due prior to my appointment time which made me nervous as I didn't have that. I inquired about that with the lady at the front and she advised my option as I simply needed confirmation of pregnancy but didn't fully need bloodwork etc as I'm going to a recommend doctor closer to me. She advised instead of $100 it would only be $20! I still received assistance from the doctor and through an emotional visit, was continually reassured by many of the woman there. My experience at this Planned Parenthood is one that I do not wish on even my worst enemy. I had thought Planned Parenthood was supposed to help women and so, I entrusted this clinic with my birth control procedure. At this moment, the trust is severed and I will not be returning as a patient nor would I advise anyone else to go here if this is how things are done behind closed doors. On March 28, I was scheduled to come in to complete a procedure. I was called on the day of my appointment that my insurance was out of network. So I arrived at the clinic and advised the front staff to call my insurance as I had already verified with my insurance that it would be covered. Later in the same day, I received a call from their staff member confirming that my insurance was verified and the procedure was covered. I rescheduled to have the procedure on April 1. Over the phone, the staff member's exact words were "I spoke with your insurance and you're fully covered." On April 1, I arrived at the office and proceeded as normally. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the procedure could not be done. Although I received assurance that their physician was a professional and can surely complete the procedure, I felt as if I was misled at the end. During the procedure, the physician had asked me multiple times if I wanted to come back and whether I wanted to go elsewhere for the procedure. I felt discouraged and so I obliged by saying that I can come back again. However, she offered a solution and said she would prescribe me a medication to help with the upcoming procedure. I rescheduled the appointment to April 22nd. While waiting for my upcoming appointment, I received a notice in the mail that my insurance was also billed, in which these costs were never relayed to me at any point in time. I had already paid out of pocket for the office visit. It was now becoming apparent there was a lack of transparency and communication from the Planned Parenthood team. On the morning of my appointment, April 22nd, I took the medication as instructed. I was miserable throughout the day due to the side effects of the medication. Not to mention, I was also working. So as a bonus to my day, I received a call on the same day of my appointment from one of the front staff telling me that my insurance was out of network. At this point, I am not feeling well, I was confused as I was already told my insurance coverage was verified, and I was feeling helpless because I had waited all this time for this procedure. Throughout the day on 4/22, I received calls going in circles about my insurance verification. When it came time to my appointment, my husband and I arrived to the clinic to dispute the charges billed previously plus the current situation with my existing appointment. Although the front staff seemed empathetic, the team seemed VERY disorganized and lacked communication with one another to help me any further. I am still so traumatized from this ordeal and I will never return. I cannot put my body and mind through all the stress again. This was one of the most stressful and traumatic experiences that I've had at a place that this supposed to help the community. Never again. I sincerely hope this review helps someone. read more

They took the time to talk through all the options I had and even helped me out when I couldn't cover the whole bill. They are all so kind and treat you with the most respect. This planned parenthood is pretty bad. My appointment was running way freaking behind. And even once I was in a room, I had to wait even longer for the doctor to see me. I fasted for my appointment because the planned parenthood in Bakersfield checks a bunch of stuff. So here I was starving to death by the time I finally saw a bleeping doctor thanks. Here they basically just test your estrogen levels and T levels and maybe an STI test if you request it. Trans patients should always be given a full metabolic panel, and this goes against standard care I'm used to. Also cholesterol tests are usual standard, same with sugar levels. Spironolactone is a diuretic and affects your electrolytes, but I was not given an electrolyte test. This facility clearly had no idea what they were doing. I'm only giving this place three stars because everyone here is pretty nice, and they were trying their best. But if you want good trans care, maybe go to a different planned parenthood. I would definitely switch to the Phoenix location in the future. It's sad that the Bakersfield facility in California which only recently started accepting trans patients knows what they're doing better then this facility. And that's in an extremely homophobic town. read more

I know, I'm a dude, so what am I doing posting a review about planned parenthood you may ask? Well I had to pick up some things for the wife here today. I've never been inside so I wasn't sure what to expect, but everybody was super friendly, and I got my wife's script without any real delay. The place was clean, and really secure which I am sure is necessary and their clients probably appreciate it. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the wife said they are impossible to get on the phone if you need to. read more

Appointment at 4:30 and it's 6:03 and still not seen for a TWO MINUTE birth control PROCEDURE. They shared they are short staffed, which is understandable but the 3 women just sitting up front should be calling their appointments in advance to give them notice and respect people's schedules and accommodations they make to be at their appointment on time. This is unacceptable and when I just asked how much longer the answer is "you're next". That's not an timeframe. I imagine it will be another hour waiting once taken back. I don't need the standard "I've shared your comments" response you keep using- actually do something to make it better. This is unacceptable! read more

PSA ! LADIES PLEASE READ! MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!! i WAS COMING here for about a couple years now , reason why I stayed around is because their doctor on site reassured me that these excruciating pains in my ovaries I keep having were going to be taken care of. These pains started to happen 2-3 years ago back when I got the IUD admitted at this location . the pains grew worse AFTER HOW IMPROPERLY THE IUD WAS TAKEN OUT 6 months later !!!!! The doctor kept telling me to tough out the pains everytime I'd call in, that it was a phase and my ovaries needed to adjust to the IUD! I knew something was wrong. it was causing internal damage to my ovaries and each time I made appointments I always was told it was nothing. That it was my intestines, my bladder.. even my OWN WIEGHT was an issue at this "point" but I've never had issues before . I've had ovaries my whole life Id think Id known by now how my body works. Never had kids , no pain during sex (tmi) but NOW SEX IS PAINFUL. I cant even properly sit because of the pains caused by my ovaries !! So how is it that NOW I have pains? I can't even SIT!! or put pressure on tailbone without having my ovaries tense up MORE in pain. the doctor ended up causing damage to my ovaries 3 years ago when they admitted the IUD for the first time and also when they took the IUD out months after I had i had it put In because their lack of CARE AND "EQUIPMENT" I still have not had these pains resolved. It has been 2-3 years that I've been having these pains , coming to planned parenthood PAYING EVERY-TIME IVE GONE AND EACH TIME MOOORE AND MOOOORE MONEY KEPT BEING TAKEN BUT YET I GOT NO POSITIVE RESULTS FROM ANY OF BETHANYS (the doctor) "help" and the doctor doesn't know how to "resolve" these pains but had no issue to send me SOMEWHERE ELSE AND PAY A HEFTY PAY after spending all my saving at this location...since I have no insurance! Even tho everytime they'd ask for donations (I give) AND ON TOP OF THAT PAY FOR "services being performed". Me walking out with high hopes that I'll be better after being reassured that the pains will "fade away" and no effect has happened besides my damn bank account fading away! Planned parenthood obviously needs to be shut down . For years I've supported planned parenthood but after being put through all of this and still having to go through pains! The reason being is because they couldn't find my appointment even when I showed them my confirmation for it! I was told to go 40+ minutes away. They wouldn't even allow me to speak to a manager. I came here because I wanted birth control without having to make a new patient appointment with an ob/gyn and then a follow up to discuss birth control and then another appointment for either an IUD or implant. I just wanted to discuss my options and get it done and over with. There was virtually no wait time and staff was very professional. The dr that saw me seemed very knowledgeable about all the methods and explained everything in great detail so I could be confident in my decision. The room was clean and they even gave me ibuprofen, water and crackers before the iud was inserted. I'm grateful that they were able to provide me with outstanding service and further my knowledge about my reproductive health. read more

This place is horrible dont come here. The staff is so rude and unprofessional, the nurse wanted to know when my last period was and I told her I was suppose to get it the day I was there which is just a month apart like it should be and she said I was 20 days late and wanted to make me pay for a pregnancy test yet I told her it wasn't possible because I didnt have intercourse throughout that month. They dont even have the toiletries that they require for you to use in the bathroom. read more

I got there 10 minutes early @ 4:05, they told me to go through the doors and sit in the waiting room and that it was going to be a little bit of a wait, which I Expected because I was early. They call me up after an hour and say they were waiting for me to pay...as if I was just supposed to pay without being asked to. I had now been there till closing time which is 6 pm and I was still waiting to be seen. People that came in after me had been seen and had left before I was even helped. This was my first time making any appointment w Planned Parenthood, so needless to say I was nervous with the "bad reputation" they had received in the past. However, I would recommend this place to any woman who needs their services. The staff was professional, polite, personable, and so helpful and knowledgeable. They were very informative and answered any questions I had. The female drs were incredibly professional and welcoming. The women nurses was so sweet and calming. I needed a refill on my birth control and was turned away by the urgent cares and even the ER in my area for not having any insurance or money to pay the $200+ bill. Planned Parenthood is notoriously underfunded and understaffed, thus wait times are more than ritzy offices usually. Can't blame em!!! However, PP does all they can to combat this. This office in particular has the sweetest ladies. I bet Yolanda at the front deals with crap all the time but she is always so sweet, kind, informative and comforting! The healthcare assistants & nurses are great too. I was with Beth today and my visit was seriously as comfortable and quick as a Pap smear can be. Love all the girls here. Prepare for a wait if you can or schedule the first appointment of the morning to try & avoid wait. And they just moved locations too! Comfortable, clean, and I was 100% covered pay wise. Worst Planned Parenthood I've been to yet. I'm an uninsured full time student working full time to cover school and other bills so that is why I choose PP. the girls up front were very quiet and hard to hear if you needed help or was being called back. Urine samples were left in the "holding cellar" which made me wonder when they were being tested for clients already in exam rooms. When i asked questions regarding my hormones and trying to get blood work, i was disregarded and told I'd get information- the information was a packet of healthcare with "primary" circled- no conversation w the NP regarding what it was. The exam was quick- 8 mins (I timed it because i was waiting in the waiting room for 35 mins then in the exam room for another 40 so i was curious). Just over all poor representation of a great organization I have always stood for. read more

This place is cheap for sure especially if you have no insurance. However for about every $100 you save over going to the doctor's you will spend about 1 hour here. For my initial exam it took over 3 hours!!! And this was WITH an appointment. The second and third time just picking up birth control pills (which I called ahead and ordered) it still took over an hour just to get them. Now that I've transfered to a different location it's been over a week to get my files transferred. Now, I don't know whose fault this is but still... The only pro is the price. If you have time to kill you can get $25 birth control pills here. read more

I'm incredibly grateful for Planned Parenthood. I was under my parents medical insurance until my father lost his job. Being 20, attending college, and only working about 15-20 hours a week I couldn't afford to pay for medical expenses up front. And one thing I really needed was birth control. I live with my boyfriend and have been in a healthy sexual relationship with him for the past two years, and we want to wait till we're both graduated from college to begin having children together. I know there's always just condoms but those can fail at times. I came here and brought copies of my pay stubs to show my income and qualified for up to 85% coverage on my health care. I was so grateful and happy to know I could get my birth control and afford it. I also can go to planned parenthood for other things besides birth control. I can go there if I have a cold or flu. Which really puts me at ease knowing I can still have a place to go if I really get sick. The wait times can be long, especially if you go in during busier hours. The first time I went it took about two hours to get my paperwork done, and wait to get my Depo shot. But the last time I went I was in and out in 30 minutes. So I guess the wait times can vary. read more

I was told with or without health insurance, I would never be turned away. Well guess what? I was turned away! They wanted a ridiculous amount just to get through the door, NOT including medications and exams. I called prior making sure I could set up a payment plan and was told that I could. After filling out paper work and waiting around an hour and a half, I was told payment plans were not an option and payment was due upfront. Absolutely ridiculous. Isn't Planned Parenthood an organization to help women across the country, and especially those who unable to obtain health insurance? Never coming back here again. read more

My first and only visit to planned parenthood was terrible. I made an appointment and still had to wait nearly 3 hours to be called back. When I was finally done they charged me an outrageous amount. I don't have insurance but I've never had to pay as much as they charged me for a depo shot anywhere else I've been. The nurses were nice but the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Not sure why everyone is complaining about policies that PP Centers have always had (not allowing partners/friend in exam rooms, having to pay a copay, etc...). I just moved here and unfortunately my insurance didn't cover my appointment, which I understood and was not at all the fault of PP. All costs were explained to me prior to payment. I was given required testing and had my prescription refilled in less than an hour. No wait time, even with 3 other patients in the waiting room: everyone was seen quickly and conversations were kept confidential. It's wonderful to have this center available to me! read more

Extremely disappointed. Scheduled an appointment and when I got there I had to wait 50 minutes past the scheduled appointment time. Second, I got a test done here and they never called me about it so I assumed it came up negative but I needed to make sure so I called to ask I couldn't get a hold of someone who could tell me so they told me someone would call me back. When they called, they let the phone ring once and hung up. I had the phone sitting in my hand while it rang and as soon as I hit accept call they ended it. They offered to reschedule me, but I work 7 days a week and go to school at night. I was only able to get today off and I doubt my employer will allow me any extra time. The prices are great but the wait is CRAZY just for picking up birth control that I called in on Monday it has taken me more than an hour. I finally got called but they can't find my pills I ordered four days ago.. Now I'm still waiting and I'll be surprised if they actually do anything for me. I should have known..
