PSA Summer Camp: been using them for years. We used full day camp and my son made plenty of friends. Always needed a quick nap on the way home. This year, we opted for day passes as we don't need a full summer. He still enjoys the day making friends and running around. I like that the returning camp leads missed him and welcomed him back. We will continue to use them throughout this summer for single day options between other care options. Almost Minus one star for the check in experience when you pay on a daily basis. There were two working really hard to check in several of us who needed day passes. It's a work schedule thing but I'm sure other parents would have enjoyed shaving time off their wait. One last comment- When we did use PSA for indoor soccer (2014) I felt that I was kept up to date, the facilities were clean, my son had a great time and we were paired with good coaches. read more

My grandson plays for a soccer team at PSA. He was punched in the face by the goalie of the opposing team and the violent act was dismissed by the referee that was clearly supporting the coaches of the opposing team. The player did not receive any reprimand, yellow card, red card or any card for that matter. Based on previous complaints and comments on this forum, it is clear that the organization does not address what is falling apart. My grandson is 7. He is smart, he is compassionate, and he is a talented player that until the most recent incident had a love for the game. Do better PSA. It appears your organization lacks to "empower every athlete to grow and succeed," by continuing to ignore the pleas and complaints that I am sure are filling your plate. It is clear you do not have any official's supervisors at the buildings during your games to mentor the officials. Children/players are here to grow and learn with volunteer coaches that give their time to teach and grow these young athletes. When you do not address the issues, you undo what these coaches are unselfishly trying to accomplish with these young, impressionable players. When you allow your refs to condone bad behavior or violate the rules of the game, what are you teaching these children? You are a non-profit with an unpaid Board of Directors who clearly are not privy to what is happening. This organization has No clue as to who is playing on any particular team such as basketball. Teams will switch and move key players around on basketball teams and the PSA does not care or monitor it. Tonight 2-27-26 was the championship game for my sons basketball league. They came in 2nd place to a cheating team who switches players around and PSA had championship metals for the 1st place team and the 3rd place team but did not have any metals or awards to the 2nd place team. What an outstanding organization. You should change your acronym to POS. read more

There is no customer service support here. I'm not sure why they even have someone answering the phones. You have to fill out applications multiple times before they receive them. The background check process to be able to coach takes forever and they don't update you where you are in the process and can't give you any answers when you call. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. All these crooks care about is getting your payment for leagues. Oh, and NO CASH REFUNDS is their policy. 75% as CREDIT only (what a joke). We put our son here for a first season of basketball and it's been a complete crap show. Undertrained refs who miss so many calls resulting in kids getting hurt. Most of the games they look so disinterested and show up to just collect a pay check. Inconsistent in applying league rules to all teams (our team had to forfeit a game because our coach forgot is badge, but the next team we played other coach forgot his badge but no forfeit). Good luck getting any response from the office or league directors. I even showed up in person to try to talk to someone and the lady at the front desk at PSA 1 would make up some story about how the director would be on a 2 hr conference call and would call me back. Meanwhile I look back and 10 people just starting at computer screens doing God knows what for a youth sports organization lol. This place is more shady than a used car dealership. This league is a joke. I wouldn't recommend this league for parents of kids just trying something out! It's unorganized (the league and the coaches) and it gives the vibe of shady scam car salesman everywhere you look. You're notified of practice constantly less than 24 hours til and who your child plays with this week may not be who they play with next week because kids randomly pop up. After we signed up and paid for our son to play and bought uniform, the coach got mad when another coach approached us complimenting our sons play. The other coach asked for our number so we gave it to him assuring him that our was committed to the team he was on. Not once did either of us mention my son leaving his current team to join another team now or in the future. I am a man of my word and that's what I stand on. Anyway, I get a call from the coach with an elevated tone accusing us of changing our son to another team. He said two people told him this. smh. I began to be agitated as another man was trying to scold me for giving MY number to someone else. as the heat intensified, he then told me to take our son because they didn't want him. That in itself says a lot for the type of people that coach there. No thought whatsoever about my son and how what he did would affect my son. That being said, do yourself a favore and steer clear. it's a money grab. I didn't even call for a refund after reading the reviews but I'm sure the scam artist coach will use my registration fee a kid that just POPS up. lol. I can't wait until PSA has a legitimate business competitor, perhaps that would challenge them to improve the quality of service and overall sporting experience. My husband and I have coached several basketball teams and our sons participated in the basketball, flag football and soccer seasons. Globally the officiating is deplorable! They hire teenagers and often even the adult refs make up rules as they go along. The teeny-bopper refs generally have horrible attitudes, and it seems as though refereeing the games are the only time in their lives available to shine, and they often thrive on creating power struggles and flinch and are punitive when asked simple questions. Officiating is often very subjective rather than by the actual rule book. One game they'll have the player shooting free throws from the regulation, free-throw line, the next game, they will have them shooting from the line that's closest to the hoop. You just never know what you're going to get, it makes coaching and teaching the athletes very hard. The organization has a deaf ear when it comes to actual improvement. They have started to send out post game surveys for feedback, however, I can guarantee you that they are only a platitude in the surveys do nothing. In short, PSA exist to purely rack in the Cash. The only reason why we continue to participate is because there isn't a better alternative that is nearby. Terrible experience, horrible customer service. They only care about collecting your payment, and hiding behind a "no refund" policy despite their failure to provide adequate service. They took our money for a basketball league, then spent 3 weeks trying to pressure us into coaching or the league wouldn't make. Then they refused to refund our money after leading us to believe there would be no team for multiple weeks, only to finally send an email saying the same day practice was supposed to start. You won't find Respect, either between parents and kids, they will teach your kids that life is unfair and you need to walk on other to succeed. Avoid like the plague. I'm really just adding to the chorus of one-star reviews, many of which say they should have been zeroes. If you want your kids to learn the proper way to play the game, any game, you need to have appropriate game management, even at the lowest levels. PSA Plano Management keeps costs low by not using trained officials. So what does this mean for you and your young athlete. First and foremost it means that you have people who might be well meaning, but have zero training in proper officiating mechanics and a similar grasp of the rules. Walk along the PSA courts and fields, you will see officials who barely take a running step to even make it appear that they are in position to make a call. When officials don't know the rules, they make bad calls, and even worse no-calls. Both of these lead to rough play or worse, injuries and fights. The men and women who dedicate themselves to the avocation of officiating spend a good amount of their personal time learning the game, studying the rules, often going to schools to improve. Something else that certified officials have, through their organizations and also personally is liability insurance. If your kid is hurt due to the negligence or incompetence of non-certified officials, it is going to be incredibly difficult for you to be made financially whole for medical services that may be needed to make your child while again. Suing a non-certified official who has nothing will get you nothing. If you value your kid and want them to have a positive athletic experience, find somewhere else. There are other places (e.g. Fieldhouse USA) that value officiating and are looking out for the health, safety and fairness for the kids. read more

I have to agree with most of the people's review. PSA could be (and should be) so much better. RIght now, they are just a company that has a Scheduler and Facilities. And even that is poor. Scheduling is a joke. And the leaders of the respective sports scheduling are quick to say they cant do anything about it (They can, they just dont want to). In the sports I've been in, there may be several levels at a grade level. About 4 games into the season, it is clear that some of the "A" teams are in the "C" league and vice-versa. But it is rare they will change the schedule to make the leagues competitive (they wait until the 1 game tourney at the end and still dont get it right). This means you will have some basketball teams, for example, losing 30-0 in ever game. This only makes your child not want to play. What they should do us post the schedule for 4 or 6 of the 12 games. Evaluate after a few weeks, readjust the leagues based on results, and then post the rest of the league. Its not taht hard. read more

PSA Softball is a complete joke. The organization is nothing more than a schedule organizer and a limited means of obtaining equipment. That's it. Way too many complaints to type here, but know that PSA does not have your back on anything. Communication is so awful, we almost missed a playoff game due to a last minute schedule change. When I contacted the PSA director, I got no response. He later responded that he was on a day trip and didn't have access to the schedule. On a playoff weekend. When he's the one responsible for setting the schedule. I had team members' family flying in for this game, and this guy is nowhere to be found. Also DO NOT TRUST the volunteer coaches PSA provides. Classic cases of poor business decisions during covid , leading to the business to going down hill FAST . The cleaning ( or lack there of) has left the BB courts so slippery and dangerous . I've never seen BB courts in this condition week after week after week. Not like it's a one time thing , so take a pass and go over to fieldhouse where they won't force you to wear a mask, and they haven't lost 60% of their teams , so they can still afford to keep the courts clean so kids aren't falling all over the place . BYOC (bring your own coach) PSA is for sure a mixed bag.... I can only speak on their flag football leagues since that is what my son and then myself was involved in. I coach outside of PSA and just wanted to sit back and watch my son play. It was a struggle at first until I learned how their whole system worked and found out that it's all about finding the right coach. 1. All coaches, sport directors, and sport board members are unpaid volunteers. - you get what you pay for here. I would make sure talk to or know the coach prior to signing up. Chances are they have never coached and are just doing the best they can. 2. Team communication is all on the coach. -PSA's biggest issue is playoff communication for us. Two separate times we received no communication from PSA that we had a playoff game or we showed up to a game and the other team didn't show because they were unaware they had a game. 3. Manage your expectations and get involved if you want results. -PSA gives you place to have games and makes a season schedule for you. THATS IT..... everything else involved with coaching resources, uniforms, drills, schemes, practice, plays, development, communication, playing time, etc. is on the coaches. I can't emphasize enough how vital selecting the right coaches are to the development of your athlete if you go with PSA. Overall, PSA in my opinion is a decent league. The facilities are nice and the flag football refs have all been certified by TASO (Texas Association of Sports Officials). Big downside is PSA's communication issues involving any schedule changes or playoff schedules, coaching resources, coach training, and unknowledgeable/untrained staff at PSA field locations. biggest piece of advice I can give you is to KNOW OR TALK TO THE COACH YOUR ATHLETE IS ON. If the coach doesn't have any experience then expect it to be a tough season.The volunteer coaches will be the only ones vested and in charge of your child's development. I feel like it is my duty to inform other parents before they get involved with PSA so they not end up in the same situation as we did. The only reason we got involved with PSA is because some parents from our school volunteered to get a group of girls and let them practice before they resume their school volleyball. We have been involved in volleyball for at least 5 years now, including clubs at Frisco Flyers and school volleyball programs and never encountered such an outrageous situation. After we paid $145 enrollment fee and $45 for a jersey, we were informed that our practices will be held at 9pm!! and our games time will be at 9:45pm!!! No one told us in advance that it is even a possibility. For a regular parent of a 12-year-old child this is unforeseeable and based on our prior experience was absolutely unpredictable. Lots of parents dropped for the exact same reasons. Every respectful place would disclose such material facts in advance. When I asked for a refund, I was send a screenshot of PSA polices saying that they do not issue refund, No apologies! I am aware that this is the case with all other volleyball organizations. However, having a "no refund" policy on a website does not justify the deceptive practice. I guarantee I am not the first person asked for a refund for the same reasons, and I guarantee that a big number of parents drop after finding out these details. There is no way these people are not on notice that parents can't foresee such late practices and games! In addition, I am aware that since November 1st our group never even had a chance to either practice or play so far. Practices are canceled because there are never enough people (too late for all!) But what is more unbelievable is that the games are being canceled on PSA initiative because there are never enough coaches or referees. What kind of organization is this? They have absolutely no right to accept any payment without fully disclosing in advance that this is their current situation! read more

I came in on a Sunday evening for a state gymnastics meet. The facility was rented out for the event. The parking lot offered ample parking. There were plenty of spaces still available even though we arrived well after the meet started. Upon entering the facility you are right in front of the cafe. It had a wide range of choices from yogurt, fresh fruit, to hotdogs and pizza. My son ordered a pizza and we waited over 15 minutes for it to cook. It was really bad when it finally came out. I know what do you expect from a pizza from a sporting event? The gymnastic meet charged $10 per person to enter the meet. That seems about the normal rate for entrance fees to these events. And if you have any problems you might as well keep them to yourself because the sports director will lie right to your face telling you they are checking into a situation when in fact, they have done nothing but, swept it under the rug. read more

1). Have been told on the phone by PSA that they are "the only game in town" in response to complaints I had in the past. 2). Not only did they refuse to make refunds during the spring for COVID, they did not respond to attempts to talk to them about it. 3). Their COVID restrictions are ridiculous - 1 parent at a game, no other family members. No parents at all allowed at practice. Was at PSA 1 a week ago at a soccer game. That game was the only game going on i. The building. There were only about 25 people in the building. The video system that the banned parents were supposed to be able to use was down. And PSA would still not let the other parents in. 4). Concessions and vending machines currently shut down during games and practices. 5). Annoying clock management by staff - a) if game is supposed to start at 6:30 - staff will start game clock even if refs don't have the teams ready to play (happens a lot in soccer). B) if games happen to be running behind, refs will keep clocks running even if the situation calls for a clock stoppage. 6). Annoying habit of moving teams to different divisions or levels of competition during the season if they think things are unbalanced or if another team whines. This is a terribly run organization. Set aside how they so poorly handled Covid closures and refunds, those of us trying to play this summer got the shaft. Our daughters summer volleyball was a joke. Only one ref at the Mckinney psa knew what she was doing. All the others have no clue and they do nothing to facilitate the game. One of the parent line judges literally sat up against the wall on the wrong side of the court (not even on the court) with his phone in his face the entire game, and the refs let their coach make all the line calls. Our sons basketball season got placed at psa plano even though psa Mckinney was completely empty most of the days we were there. Every single game was scheduled in Plano. Aside from the location inconvenience, PSA plano is extremely biased to specific teams. We witness favoritism regularly, whether it be at the door where certain teams get to let siblings and family in while the rest of us are held to the 1 spectator rule, to the buddy buddy system some of their refs have with some of the coaches. Last time we we played at psa 2 we witnessed one of the "favorite" teams with a literal crowd on the sideline, no masks and lots of siblings. The front desk does nothing to support the safety standards when it comes to these teams. Sickening. And trust me, we've called and complained. We've reported behavior on-site. We've been nice, we've been not so nice about it. It doesn't make a difference. They don't return calls, they don't take action. We won't be returning to any PSA programs in the fall. read more

All businesses are going through a tough time, but PSA decided they have the right to keep money for a service that was not provided (spring sports). I understand they have to pay for utilities, so does Cinemark, and so does all of the other businesses that have had to find ways to make it through these times. Every other surrounding sports organization provided refunds when requested. Instead PSA graciously rescheduled the season to the middle of summer without providing an opt out for those that did not want to accept the change in schedule. Play or waste the money. Parents, Plano Sports Authority (PSA) has decided to reschedule their Spring games during the summer. Several teams signed up specifically for the Spring and did not wish to participate during the summer. PSA has decided to keep parents money instead of refund them or credit them to another season. Several surrounding community baseball organizations such as Frisco, Allen, etc. did right by refunding parents and coaches for a season of baseball that was not going to be played. PSA has done little to nothing to communicate intentions since the pandemic occurred and only recently gave coaches 3 days to make a decision to participate in baseball. Very disappointed in PSA for a camp this year, my son really enjoyed it in prior years. Advertised a competitive basketball camp for kids trying to make their middle school or high school teams and it was more of a beginner camp. My son didn't want to go back after the first day, he was told to let the other kids shoot. My wife had emailed a few times but got no response. I called and got the run around several times, finally talked to the director and she was very nasty to me, almost yelling at me and said the first day was an evaluation but it was definitely beginning players which is fine but that's not how it was advertised. She said she would get back to me but never did. I talked to the coach who my son really liked in prior seasons but he was very short with me and told me he couldn't do anything and had to call customer service. Seems that it's all about the money now, if fact, they raised the price from 140 to 180 this year. read more

My kids have been playing multiple sports at PSA for over 6 years and PSA has always done a fantastic job. Did they have highs and lows during the height of the pandemic? Yes, everyone did, but they kept (and continue to keep) things clean, follow state protocol and our kids STILL get to play sports. Have especially been impressed by the football program. Unfortunately I was a victim of the covid non refunded crowd but decided to give them another opportunity in spring 2021 and I should of learned my lesson. The volleyball league is unorganized. You cannot find support anywhere. Emailing is not even an option as no one returns emails. If you after writing a very long detailed email to senior leadership, before ever setting foot on one practice or game I got fed up and asked for a refund. Ha you can imagine how that answer was. PSA has it all - football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and coolest of cool - INDOOR Flag Football! The facilities are FIRST RATE, and they have locations all around Collin County... two in Plano, one in, Murphy and one in McKinney. Each facility has an indoor arena (which they will rent!) and tons of high quality basketball courts... They all have a food court with very reasonable prices, super clean restrooms, and good monitoring. There is really nothing quite like PSA in Texas--and I truly mean that! PSA is a horrible organization! Spring basketball was cancelled due to COVID and they are refusing to give refunds. They are trying to justify not giving people their money back by making them play in July. I did not sign up for summer, I signed for spring. First of all, the majority of parents are still uncomfortable sending there kids to play group sports. Secondly, we paid for 8 games and 8 practices. The communication (Courtney, Karen, Ryan anyone that works there basically) is also horrible so any email they have listed on the site good luck with actually getting a response! We keep signing up for soccer here because my sons like their coaches (all volunteers - PSA can't take any credit there). However, I have not had any good experiences interacting with anyone that actually works for PSA. My son has played for PSA for years. I am beyond upset that the Thunderbolts coach can scream that there is only good player on our team, scream at our coach and make the entire game an embarrassment. To top it all off this same coach can lie about the score because they are such a poor sport. Kids should not be subject to hear these things. I was okay with PSA until I witnessed one of the worst officiated games of my life. Half way through the game it became clear one the referees was helping the opposing team win and the other was didnt really know wbat she was doing. Everyone saw him clapping for the other team as he walked past them on the bench, during time outs.
