The Shoppes at Monterra Commons is part of Cooper City's Monterra development. Spanning 500 acres,…read morethe land was a former dairy farm and is bordered on the north and south by Stirling Road and Sheridan Street, and on the east and west by University Drive and Pine Island Road. The Shoppes of Monterra Commons is a new mixed use development owned by Diversified Realty Development Company, which is based in Deerfield Beach. Construction began in December 2021 and it looks like they just need to lease a few retail spaces. This development includes over 100,000 square feet of new buildings over 16 acres of land with 700 parking spaces. The development cost over $10 million to complete. In addition to the stores and restaurants, the Shoppes of Monterra also includes a brand new 175-unit Residential Active Adult Community. Current Monterra Commons tenants include a Brightstar Credit Union, Baseball Cards, Culver's, Huey Magoo's, the Learning Experience, First Watch, Crunch Fitness, Oaxaka, and Cali Coffee. Coming soon is Tide Laundry, Gyromama, and Playa Bowls. There is currently empty leasing space for other businesses. I tried out the Cali Coffee and Blueprint Cookies and loved both. I was surprised to see how busy it was here so it is clearly filling a need in the community. It is interesting to see new development come to what I considered a dead end area of Cooper City. It was only a matter of time before this last large parcel of Broward County was developed. Hopefully Cooper City residents are going to like what they put in.

I love Broward Mall! I've been coming here for over 20 years, and it's changed quite a bit over…read morethat time. One of the biggest improvements was the addition of the movie theater, and the interior has been renovated to feel much more modern, bright, and clean. Many of the longtime anchor stores are still here, although some of the smaller boutique shops have come and gone over the years. I also appreciate that there are now a couple of kid-friendly attractions, including a children's museum and an indoor play center. They're great additions for families and are very reasonably priced. The parking lot is large, with multiple entrances around the property, so it's easy to access the mall from just about any direction. There is still some construction in one section of the parking lot that seems like it's been there for quite a while. I haven't seen much activity recently, so I'm not sure if the project is still ongoing. Fortunately, it's limited to one area and doesn't really affect the overall shopping experience. The mall itself is a nice size. It's not overwhelmingly large, but it's definitely not small either. Everything is indoors, making it a great place to shop, walk around, or spend a few hours, especially during Florida's hot or rainy weather. Overall, Broward Mall has done a great job modernizing while keeping many of the stores and features that have made it a local favorite for years.

During the weekdays there rarely many children playing. Weekends are obviously more crowded but fun for the kids as long as the guardians are supervising their own little ones. There is an area for parking strollers and storing shoes. The play area was clean and I didn't observe anything that looked dangerous for climbing and playing. This is a great FREE indoor space for those Plantation days when the weather is not great outside.
