    stonework and arch walkway

Planted Earth has designed and completed two beautiful projects on our property. First, Michael spent some time talking with us about our vision for our front yard. At the time, our front yard was packed dirt, with a few blades of grass poking through. Michael designed a completely different vision for our front yard- a beautiful winding rock wall to replace a crumbling ineffective wall along with several defined planting areas. Fast forward a few years, and the garden has filled in so nicely. I love walking out our front door and looking at our garden. And one of the best parts- we have a hedge along the front of our property. Our initial plan was to cut it down as it was not visually appealing. However, Michael suggested we reroute our front sidewalk to go through the middle of the hedge, then he cut out an archway through the hedge. Magical! We were so pleased with the intricate rock work that we asked Michael and his crew to come back the following year to build a fire circle with a rock retaining wall in our back yard. Again, the rock work is so beautiful, blends right into the hillside and looks like it has been there forever.

Planted Earth designed and installed a very interesting and beautiful garden on the house next to my home. During the installation, a subcontractor of Planted Earth severed my drip irrigation system and resulted in a large number of rosemary plants dying from lack of water. After I discovered the problem, I posted a Yelp review, which Planted Earth saw. As a conscientious company, Michael, the owner of Planted Earth, took responsibility for the subcontractor's damage and promptly replaced the dead bushes with 15 gallon new ones. As I write this, there are three or four hard working crew members from Planted Earth replanting the bushes in the rain. I wish all contractors were as responsible as Planted Earth.

But Lara and the crew were able to meet these challenges head on, and found ways to optimize time so we were not bogged down with extra spend. We completely overhauled our back yard, from an overgrown mess to a yard we could be proud of, and most importantly, safe for our kids. Lara was great in understanding we had kids, and she helped in choosing materials that would work well to reduce or eliminate chemicals or difficult/sharp surfaces. Same goes for plant selection, equally good for our kids and dog so nothing with poisons, and lots of fun edibles for the kids to easily pick off an eat. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Bountiful Botanicals for your project, both large and small. They can take on any challenge and have the skills within the team to get any project completed. I've included a before, and a few after. The details speak for themselves on the quality and craftsmanship from the team!

We hired Garden Mamas to maintain our mature hillside garden. While we thought it a bit strange…read morethat we had a different crew out most every time, we were assured by Tamara that she had communicated what needed to be done - she was managing the crew. This method seemed to work mostly, although we had to tell the crew each visit what to do, as mostly instructions had been partially communicated. One day, she sent two new people. We told them to trim two bushes on the stairwell and to pick up the leaves, nothing else. This was also communicated to Tamara a few days prior, but like most times, the crew seemed clueless as to what to do. When they were done and had left, we discovered that they had BUTCHERED our garden - most of five++ years of growth was cut away and in a most unappealing fashion. Her crew ripped out plants that a previous crew had installed only a month prior, had trimmed four bushes that were covering an unsightly wall into lollipop shapes, completely exposing the wall, trimmed new growth off of once per season budding plants without any care for shape or aesthetics, butchered slow growing manzanita plants that may never recover, etc etc etc. We were appalled and contacted her. Tamara responded to our concerns, but would not or could not take personal or financial responsibility for making us whole. She told us that the crew she sent was inexperienced and had never worked on a personal, mature garden (only on storage facilities and office complexes), and that she did not have the $$ to replace the plants destroyed or to pay for someone else to replace the plants (as we told her that we could not work with her anymore). We thought about going to the CSLB so that we could at least recover her bond, but did the time/money calculus and finally settled on her paying for two plants to be replaced, at another landscaper's wholesale cost (approx $500). So far, it has cost us over $10000 to get the garden back to where it was, and it will take a few years for it to look as good as it did prior to November 2025. We tried to support this independent, woman-owned business; but her model of a different crew every time coupled with an inability to run her business in a fiscally responsible manner makes it impossible for us to recommend her to ANYONE

The project was completed within the time she estimated. Invoicing/payment process was clear and easy. I provided photos of the types of plants I liked (from other people's yards) and they provided a list of recommendations with descriptions and pricing as well as placement suggestions. I appreciated Tamara checking in on me a a few times after they planted to see how things were going and reminding me to turn off the water during the rainy season. It's seven months later and I am still enjoying admiring and tending to my plants as they grow.

We had a great experience NAB Construction! Our pickleball court had broken concrete on one end,…read moreand was too short on the other. NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project. I'm very satisfied with the results of this project, and would not hesitate to recommend NAB construction to others.

We wanted a walkway installed so we went back but this time we dealt with someone by the name of Nick Vard. He was very unprofessional and used the terms "outside the scope of work" and asked us to make a "commitment" several times. I went to Brickyard on a Saturday at 8AM per the direction of Nick but when I called him about our selection he never called me back. He blamed us and said they lost money on the job because it took longer than expected. He tried to convince me to use a brick I did not like. And the biggest disappointment was the drainage that they left unfinished. We spent almost $10k but we feel like the job is incomplete. Wish we could recommend them but if they continue working with Nick Vard you should stay away.
