So when the Knicks won the championship this year, I knew it was go time. The Game 4 comeback was one of the best moments of my life, so getting OG's tip-in tatted was written in the stars. I live in North Carolina, so I started by looking around down here. A couple of artists turned me down, one completely misunderstood what I wanted, and one whose recent Brunson tattoo was... not great. So I said fuck it. It's my first tattoo, I want it done right, we're going to the source. I don't really do social media, so I just googled something like "knicks championship OG tattoo new york" and looked for the best ones I could find. A couple of my favorites from the search traced back to a shop not in NYC proper, but Jersey City, and specifically to Alena. When I showed up, I found a clean, well-designed space that put me at ease right away. I can be a little quiet when I first meet people, but everyone was super friendly. Alena sat down with me to design the piece and was such a thoughtful partner in the process. I came in wanting it on the back of my calf, but she suggested moving it onto the side, and I'm so glad she did. I also knew I wanted another element besides the scene, and Alena does these incredible sticker-style logos that pop, so she worked one of those in at the bottom that I'm in love with. It's hard to judge since this was my first tattoo, but I feel like Alenda managed to keep the whole thing tolerable while still being thorough and making it look terrific. We took the perfect number of breaks so I never got antsy. After two days on the table, it came out absolutely perfect. Beyond what I even expected. It's been three days now and it's healing really well, which I've read is partly the mark of a great artist. OG looks incredible, she nailed KAT's surprised face, the pixelated Spurs faces seem to be everyone's favorite part (such an incredible idea from Alena), and the fine details are mind-blowing. Two more things--sorry I'm very emotional right now lmao--first, I was already confident I'd get a great tattoo based on her work. What I didn't expect was to have such a good time. I loved hanging out with Alena and Bebe on day one, and them plus a few other folks on day two. Lots of fire music, laughs, true crime docs, and top-notch art. I brought headphones and didn't use them even once. And second, I straight up didn't realize I was being tattooed by a legend. I had no idea Alena was on a TV show for this, or that she has a wild backstory I now have so much respect for. Alena, thank you. You're a legend. I'll be back for more.

Fortune and Love has such a welcoming vibe and aesthetic when you walk in. It feels like a great representation of both their fashion sense. From the decor, to the furniture, to the branding, you know you will have a very comfortable tattoo experience. The studio has snacks, water, coffee/tea, and a very comfortable lounge area. It's super easy to access by subway or path if coming from NJ. It's also great for a friend or partner to stop by and hang out as you are being tattooed. Both artists are fantastic with color and can take your idea and transform it into something magical. My experience is with Koral so I can speak more to her process, but have chatted with other customers who had wonderful things to say about Fortunato too. What started as a simple "mountain changing color as it progresses through the seasons" has evolved into a completely ornate and beautiful arm piece that was unlike anything my simple brain could have imagined. Her process involves conversations and examples of my experience, but at no point was there an expectation for me to give her the image to just replicate. Feeling a bond with Koral has made it an extra special experience (Love for Nature and Travel). I am currently going through a coverup on an old tattoo (changing a dragon into an octopus with scenes of arctic and tropic marine life) with Koral. I have been following Fortunato for almost a year now. I saw his work on his instagram and knew right away that he was the artist I have been searching for. The first piece Fortunato did for me was a portrait of my mom. It came out beautifully. It looks just like my mom. He also did a piece on my forearm which OMG is one of my favorite pieces. It has so much meaning in my life and he brought it to life and my heart. I had a few more pieces done by Fortunato and of course they look spectacular. My most recent portrait done by Fortunato are my boys with my Inay (grandma). My Inay has passed and my boys are now 21 & 23 years old. This is the only photo I have of them together and I'm so grateful that after many years of changing phones and deleted social media accounts I now have this photo forever. I met Koral through Fortunato and I'm happy to say I have a beautiful floral tattoo which I got for her home country of Ukraine. Koral's artwork is incredibly unique.
