Really disappointed with this place. And really disappointed with the service and the people there. Don't run a Friday the 13th major sale if you're not equipped to handle it. Don't send out multiple text blasts saying you're open for walk ins till 12am and then turn people away at the door at 9:07 pm. The lady then proceeded we can make an appointment for the following day when i just explained driving an hour here and being willing to wait however much time is needed. I went on their booking site and two appointments for 11pm and 11:30 were left so we went on to the booking site to book them. The lady running the check ins asked if we checked in already and said we were booking our appointments as we spoke because it's available on the website. As soon as we said that she said "great" tapped her iPad a few times and suddenly the appointments were gone. It's 9pm. Don't say you're open till 12am but not taking anyone else for the night. If you're underprepared for the influx of traffic your sale brought in don't run it. No accommodation, no sincerity, just another sale. I'm disappointed to say this considering I've recommended people here before and have had work done here before. read more

The first I purchased a 2.55 prong gem for $55+ tax. Another visit I purchased a 2.5mm bezel cz pvd nose ring for $55+ tax. No complaints or issues with the items i've purchased. They didn't pierce my nose but they do change out my nose rings once I purchase. The piercing area is very clean and sterile. They are gentle and wear gloves (and possibly a mask). Absolute best customer service! I was having surgery last week and the day before I was unable to remove my nose and tragus piercings. I called Live by the Sword and I was able to be seen within an hour. I forgot the woman's name who removed my piercings (blame it on the anesthesia) but she was so sweet and communicative. She walked me through how she removed them and how I can put them back in after to keep the holes open until I can stop in for her to do it correctly. Fast forward to post surgery, against my doctor and family's wishes, I stopped in three days after to get my nose and tragus piercings put back in. I was in a lot of pain from the surgery but didn't want to chance my piercings closing up. The woman who took them out wasn't in that day but another piercer helped me out and she popped them back in with ease. My sister who was my chaperone for the day decided to get her tragus pierced and said the woman did a phenomenal job. I'm looking to get some new holes soon and I will certainly be getting them at Live by the Sword! read more

Today, I had to walk out after encountering Isabel. Initially, my daughter and I went in for 2 different piercings, my daughter for her third lobe and myself for a nose piercing. From the beginning, she lacked jewelry options; everything my daughter asked for, she said there was nothing available. Isabel also began discussing how her vertical industrial piercing was not done well on the client she had just before us, mentioning that another piercer would explain what she did wrong after finishing. When she said she was going to the back to get more jewelry, she instead asked another piercer to pierce my daughter's lobe. I ultimately decided to go for a nose piercing and asked Isabel which side she would recommend. Instead of providing guidance, she started ranting about how she doesn't give such advice because she doesn't want to hear that I don't like it. As she walked away, she said, "I don't play those games." I found that quite off-putting. As a grown woman, I don't play games either, so I decided to leave. I would not recommend this location at all. If I could put no stars I would. If you want a piercing with good customer service and better jewelry options go to the Soho location, that's where my daughter got 3 different piercings from!! read more

I'm only giving 2 stars because of my excellent experience at the Union Square location. Unfortunately, my visit to the Williamsburg location was deeply disappointing. The Good: The front desk staff member was welcoming and helpful when I arrived early for my appointment with Cinthia. She checked on me and my friends while we waited since Cinthia was late. The Bad: Cinthia showed up to the shop at 12 pm (the scheduled appointment time) but did not speak to me until 15 mins after. When she finally spoke to me, it was for less than a minute with a rude, condescending tone. She did not allow time for clarifying questions and abruptly ended our conversation when I expressed concern about the price (4x what I expected for a 1x1 tattoo). When I went to the front desk to confirm if my appointment was cancelled, I received a dismissive nod and "have a nice day" from Cinthia. Bottom Line: I came prepared with an appointment to get a special tattoo, respected the appointment time, and genuinely admired Cinthia's work. Instead, I left feeling disrespected and confused. This experience was completely opposite to my positive experience at the Union Square location. I hope others receive better treatment. read more

Great location, fun spot to hang out in (it's a salon so you can also get piercings or shop for gifts, stationery, and apparel!), the aesthetic is such a fun vibe (minimalist black line doodles just like tattoos!), I'd come again for another tattoo! Super impressed with my tattoo artist Isaiah -- he had a gentle hand! My chubby bunny tattoo (#327 from the $50 flash book) didn't take long to do. I went with my besties who've been there before and said that the back of the leg kind of hurt so I was bracing for the worst but honestly it didn't hurt so much! One of them even thought it almost looked fine line (I was told if you pay a little extra, any of their flash tats can turn into fine line). I have to request if Isaiah again if I return for another tat! My two other friends booked with Jorge and their tats came out amazing too. Overall, it's a great place, and I absolutely love how patient they were with me because it's only my second tattoo and I don't have the best pain tolerance. Alex is hands down the sweetest piercer I've ever had. I went in for my third lobe piercing and Alex gave me options beyond the traditional positioning, which I was super appreciative of (and honestly made me want to come back in the future for another). He was so patient and understanding when I had to take a break in-between ears and just made my overall experience great. I would 100% come back just for Alex :) He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and cared for. This location is inside the mini mall--it's small but it's big enough for a few people to wait around. They take walk-ins but I would advise to make a reservation! We went on a Wednesday at 12:30pm and it wasn't too busy, but make a reservation to be on the safe side. I was worried that I would be late since I was stuck in BK traffic, so I called to give them a heads up and it was no problem at all and they were understanding of it. I'll be back soon :) read more

I came here to get a ball replaced on my rook piercing that had fallen off. After having an amazing experience at the SoHo location, I expected to have a similar experience at Williamsburg. I have over 10 piercings so I'm not new to this world. Danny was quite rude to my friend and I, he was later much nicer to her. Rather than replacing the ball on my piercing, he removed the whole thing and repierced the less-than-a-week-old piercing which was incredibly painful. I have a high pain tolerance but I nearly fainted. For reference, the first time it was pierced I was completely fine, and I've never been close to fainting in my 14 pierces. It is now swollen, bruised, and I have a headache from the constant pain. I've had lower forward helix piercing backs replaced, a much more difficult piercing to access, so I'm not sure why the repiercing was necessary (especially with no warning!). I'm giving 3 stars because they were able to technically fix the problem I came in with at no charge. I just wish we were initially treated with better customer service and there was a better solution to the one missing ball. I will probably be returning to LBTS but not this location. read more

I have gotten bad piercings from Claire's and sketchy back rooms, yet I have NEVER had this problem of pain before with any of my piercings. I got my helix pierced by Steven and he was so patient with me as I took forever to decide what kind of Jewelry I wanted (I ended up choosing my zodiac sign in 14K gold). The piercing hurt a little but he talked me through each step and gave me detailed instructions for aftercare. Stopped by the shop due to some unhinged thoughts of finally getting my right daith pierced. My friend and I had some reservations for lunch elsewhere, so we opted for the later appointment and it was super helpful! Since Live By The Sword Tattoo does a lot of things (haircuts, piercings, tattoos, waxing, sugaring), it was a great spot to have people in different trades come together in one area. The appointment was easy to set up, as well as to sign the waiver online. Once you check in, the staff will let you know about the procedure and each step of their process. I got my daith done for $50, and I opted for a horseshoe earring (extra $30) instead of the standard one that they give (included in the $50). Since I was running out of saline solution at home anyways, I decided to purchase the travel-sized saline for $10. Danny was super helpful throughout the process and was able to control the crowds in the store successfully too. Had an incident where my septum ring randomly fell out, months ago. Life got away from me and it closed so I wanted to get a new ring and it repierced After a bad experience at another shop an hour prior that had me basically distraught.. I came to good ol LBTS (which i should've came to in the first place!!!) Jen, who looked like a beautiful little Melanie Martinez cosplayer. Listened to my whole sob story of trauma dumping, took the time to help me pick out the ring I liked the most. She even showed me hers and allowed me to get possibly weirdly close cause I'm blind as hell She asked specific questions about how low I wanted it to hang, I showed her pictures of my previous one and she helped from there. She let me vent about the bad experience, totally validated my feelings and shared her views on good customer service as a piercer (VERY important, like bitch you're putting a hole in my body!! Walked by the shop and the environment seemed sanitary and welcoming. So I decided to walk in and see if I wanted to get anything done. I looked at the jewelry and there is a lot to choose from. Just remember that some piercings need certain jewelry. The staff seemed cool. My hat dropped one of their signs (I'm sorry) and they were cool about it. China Wu (Boss Babe) did a quick consultation about the daith piercing I chose and got me right. She was hella cool, comforting and got down to business. Gave me some advice about another piercing I had and I was out. These are my types of experiences. I have a lot of piercings from a lot of different places and she has been one of my favorite.
