For the longest time, I had my natural black hair; I was ready to take a slight risk to highlight my hair. I was appointed to JP (Jean Phillipe). When I arrived at the institution, I was welcome with warmth. Special love goes to Claire. Such a sweetheart; she is beautiful. Took care of me with drinks (great Cappuccino)and by conversing like we have been friends forever. JP is a hair colorist; he was very understanding about my fear to change my natural hair color. He put me on ease; tried bunch of samples on my hair. It gets confusing, but he was super helpful. Trust me he did a fantastic job. Second time, I had ombré highlights of caramel blond again. Both times, I loved it, and can't wait for his next creation. For hair cut and style, initially I was Akiko, (who was the sweetest person and a great stylist) but she left to pursue her career somewhere else. My last two hair cut and style were done by Ly! He is a Superman for the hair. He can talk and feel the hair. He can work any texture of hair. And you ask how I know.... well he took care of three sisters's hair, and we all the girls have different type of hair, from frizzy, fine and wavy. He never goes drastic with me; he knows with my features what style would suit. He is an absolute creature. Beside JP, I love Ly too. Beside my sisters, few of my friends go to JP and Ly. The combination of both is lethal.

It was my first time ever getting to enjoy a manicure spiff up while the dye was setting in my hair - so I ended up with both black hair and chic black nails. It was such an enjoyable glow up! My stylist was super sweet and gave me EXACTLY the hair colour and cut I wanted, which is, as many will know, not an easy thing to always achieve when you go to a new stylist. He listened carefully to everything I explained that I was looking for, and went out of his way to ensure that I got it! I even left with my specific dye recipe (which is kind of like a half-black, half dark brown mix) on a slip of paper, since he understood that I travel a lot and it would just make it so much easier to hand the recipe to my next stylist! I was so appreciative of that, because it's often hard to get a stylist to understand the kind of colour I'm looking for (surprisingly enough). Cut out the reddish, tone it down to a cool, deep, darkest brown bordering on black but not as unnatural looking as black. He nailed it. The next time I'm back in Montreal, this is where I will take myself immediately. The nail salon is next door, but they have a door between the hair salon and nail salon, so that your stylist can simply walk you through, with your towel on your head, sit you in a chair, and the manicurist knows exactly how much time there is to get your nails done before you have to go back over for your rinse. It's such a great working relationship. I was so happy with the manicure that I went back again for a redo a week and a half later! Fair warning, though - this salon IS in Westmount, the moneyed part of Montreal, so you will pay through the nose for your perfect salon experience. For me, it was worth it. A girl's gotta treat herself once in a while, and since I only typically hit a salon once every six months, I could justify it! Ha!

Colorbox in on St Jacques near de la Montagne, they have their own parking lot so it's very convenient in terms of location and parking. It is a bright, colorful space and everyone that works there is amazing in personality and skill! Sarah who greets you at the reception is efficient, quick witted and will always try to squeeze in! Linda ( the owner) was my colorist for many years, she has a great eye, professional and always does beautiful work. I saw Elyse for many years, friendly, sweet and amazing at her work. What I loved about this salon is they went above and beyond to make me happy and it was such a wonderful welcome to the French Canadian people. Benoit and Daniele beautifully styled our hair. First let me tell you how they treated us with EXCEPTIONAL FULL SERVICE. I was in a terrible time crunch and did not have time to do my nails so they brought me a nail file, acetone, and I did my own nails while they were doing my hair. They also brought us a big standing makeup light and let us stay in the styling chairs after they were done so that we could do our makeup. And to top it off, a glass of champagne or a beverage of your choice to only make things better! Finally and most importantly, Benoit and Daniele did a beautiful job on our hair! They were both so diligent and skilled. We have long thick ethnic hair and even though it probably took them much more time than the average set of hair to style, they charged us such a reasonable amount. I loved my experience. They are a relatively new business and imagine they will grow a set of loyal clientele quickly based on their exceptional service.

My friend and I booked a blow dry last minute. When we arrived we were assigned to the same hair stylist. I wish they had mentioned it but it wasn't an issue for us. We had time and we both loved Bianca. However if you are short for time, and want to be booked simultaneously I would mention it. Bianca is super friendly and a natural at her job. She did exactly what we wanted and made it look easy. Blow outs start at $40. Very happy with our results! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend!
