Ok. My son gets back into the car, we look up the place on the internet and guess what? No website. Ok. I tell my son to called the brotha to make the appointment via the phone and he calls the shop. Now, we're parked right outside dude's shop and I am looking at him cut this other customer's hair. When my son calls, I watch the barber stop cutting hair and go pick up his phone. My son says, "I looked on the web and did not see a website (cause there isn't one) so, I'm calling to make an appointment. At 11a, please." Barber says, great see you then and my son hangs up the phone. I see the barber get off the phone and return to his customer in the chair. By the way, it's about 10:10a. Cool we go to a nearby coffee shop then return to Platinum Cuts at 11. leave my son there. I ask him how much Is the cut going to cost? And that dude only takes cash. He tells me he got $40.00 and I decide to get additional cash in case there is $40 is not enough. When my son is done and back in the car, I ask him how much was the cut. My son told me $25 but dude did not have change. Huh? Because my son only had two twenties, dude to them both and told my son he had no change. Ok. How you gone take ONLY cash but not have change at the beginning of your work day? Further, why did he tell my son to make an appointment instead of just making the appointment in person. I mean, dude stopped cutting hair to answer the phone and right down the time my son requested. What?! So my son went into the shop as a walk-in. Was told to make an appointment. Comes back to the car to make an appointment for less than an hour away. Then, tells my son his business only deals in cash. THEN, takes my son's money the whole $40 because my son only has two twenties but Mr. Barber is running a cash only business with no freaking change. THEN, my son tells me he wanted more off the top as he swept hair off of himself in the car. I normally do not take the time to write a negative review being that we're all just now coming out of Covid isolation and people are just doing their best to hold on. But Mr. Barber did my child dirty by taking advantage of his advantage of his youth and making him jump through hoops to get a cut that my son is unhappy with and to be forced to tip this clown $15 because "I only deal in cash" has no damn change to start the day. Probably taking that cash so he don't have pay taxes on money that can't be tracked. Trifling AF! I also promised my son that I would not cuss this man out because Me. Barber "was nice." You know how many thieves and shady business owners smile in your face while taking you on an free ride for suckers? Millions of business owners. Mr. Barber is no different. What a tool! Platinum Cuts and Salon Seattle is B.S. This Black own business treated my son who is also Black like boo boo. Just cause he could. But life lessons learned for my son and I will tell any community member to leave this clown alone. Plus this place is filthy. Not like filthy as in "cool." I am not a fan of sitting in a salon chair getting my hair done so that is why I hardly ever do anything to my hair. I got an undercut about six months back (best decision ever!) and I love how I can go to a barber shop instead of a salon to get it shaped up. I've been to Platinum Cuts & Salon twice now and have been pleased with the results. The shop is in White Center on Delridge way across the lot from a tool shop. Each time I've gone in without an appointment but was able to get seen immediately. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the barber (I think there are only two) who has done my cut and design but he's always been able to get me in and out and do any design I've requested. I'm usually only in the chair for about 10 minutes which is perfect and I'm charged $12. Great independent place. Gets the job done. read more

This is a old-school, family-style barber shop, located where West Seattle meets White Center. I walked in Saturday morning and got a great cut at a good price. The guy put a lot of time into providing a complete cut: hot towels, lotion, trim of eyebrows and ears, but above all, exactly the neat and tight look I asked for. The price was good too. Didn't work on a Friday. Was just driving by this place with the knowledge my hair had gotten too long and decided to stop, completely on a whim. Place was empty but for the one barber, at the time. Now, I've been trying for years to tell people cutting my hair I want "short back and sides, left a little long on the top" to varying degrees of success, mostly non-success. The barber here somehow understood precisely what I meant by that. I will say I initially was taken back by how short it was, but that lasted maybe a few hours, and, if I'm honest, I always react like that. Wife thought it looked "cute," as I told her it was how I'd always wanted my hair cut . . . way back in the 80's. It's been now three weeks since my hair cut, and I'm STILL getting complements on the job the barber did. He was very deliberate. I take him for a man who takes pride in his work. I'll definitely be returning. May even consider taking my boys there when they need cuts. read more

D. Scott, owner/barber has put some amazing art on my sons cuts! The first was to cheer him up when my son decided to take the scissors to his own head (yikes! mommy of the year!) and it had to be buzzed pretty short to even it out, D put a spider web on the back. Today 2 weeks later, we have more hair to work with and because my son is obsessed with Spider-Man he asked D to put a spider on his head this time! D has come through each time. He forgot to do it and when i reminded him, he just took some scissors and chopped my shit up. i gave them a second chance and wound up getting one of the worse haircuts i've ever had and ive been in the army...never again. read more
