The sand, unfortunately, is not the white pearly sand of dreams but it is still desirable enough. We came during April, more specifically Spring Break. It wasn't crowded at all; however, it also wasn't that hot. The day was warm but the water was not. At least not enough for this 37 year old to jump in the water. If I would have jumped in, I would have jumped right back out to my Airbnb for a hot shower. My kids, however, had a great time and felt nothing as they collected cool little seashells and threw their bodies against the waves. Overall, it was a great day at a great beach close to the city center. A few things to note: 1) bring food and drinks because I saw zero stores or shops around that offer that stuff. 2) this is Europe so be prepared to see more skin than you will at the U.S. beaches (basically there seemed to be a shortage of tops to go with all bikini bottoms out there). 3) as in all the touristy spots in Spain, an innumerable amount of guys will approach your spot asking if you'd like to buy sunglasses, blankets, towels, beer, and other junk (too bad they weren't selling those tops we spoke of earlier; they'd have made a killing). Enjoy!

Arriving without a reservation on a Saturday, we were seated without a wait; service was welcoming, quick, and very friendly. Tip: The starter we chose (with advice from our server) was the steamed mussels. As our server had said, we found that a single portion was more than enough for two to share. We also enjoyed several cocktails with our meal that day; my favorite by far was the Pumpkin amuse - delicious! For our main, we shared the fillet of ray (tronco rodaballo). This dish was beautiful to look at, with a taste profile that bordered on distilled awesomeness :-) Bottom line: Fabulous views, excellent service, and wonderful food made our experience here one that I look forward to repeating. While the prices for bread, wine, and coffee were a bit on the high side, the overall cost of our meal was more than reasonable given the quality of the food and the service.

Today we booked two sunbeds at Marina Beach Club and paid €35 per person. According to the…read moreinformation on their website, €15 would be refunded after leaving when the towels were returned. So, essentially, it was supposed to be a kind of deposit. After barely two hours, it suddenly started pouring with rain -- something, of course, that nobody could have predicted. The large number of people who were there all rushed to the restaurant to take shelter. It was very chaotic, and it took quite a while before we were offered a table. At first, I could understand the situation, but apparently it was very difficult to figure out which table to give us. Keep in mind that the restaurant wasn't even half full. We then patiently waited for someone to take our order. Again, this took quite some time, but given the chaos, I was still willing to understand. Our food arrived fairly quickly, followed shortly afterwards by the bill -- even though we had not asked for it. When I asked whether this meant we were expected to leave, I was literally told: "If you're not eating or drinking anything else, yes." Our drinks weren't even finished, and I had literally just put my knife and fork down after finishing my meal. We were simply told to leave and sent out into the pouring rain. I honestly cannot accept this. This is not how you treat paying customers. When you pay this kind of price, you expect at least some friendliness, hospitality and decent service. And then, when we went outside, we were also told that the €15 towel deposit would not be refunded after all. This was clearly stated differently in the information we had found online. So the information provided on their website is misleading. In the end, it turned out to be a very expensive day. Of course, we cannot blame the beach club for the rain -- that is something nobody can control. But the way we were treated afterwards was completely unacceptable. Needless to say, they will not be seeing us again.
