This is my second time coming to this store to sell my items. I brought in 3 bags of clothes around 7:30, it took about an hour for my items to be ready. For them to tell me none of items were approved. I'm not upset over my items not being approved, but for the fact that my items were NOT even looked into. My bags were the same as when I walked in and dropped them off. Im sure it was because they closed at 9 and they were in a hurry, but that is no excuse. Customer service was very disappointing. Young ladies in the store were unkind and barely acknowledged me. This was my first time coming in to sell items. I brought my new and gently used clothes into the store neatly packed. The items returned to me were thrown into boxes/basket in heaps and balls with the clothes mixed in with my shoes - which were separated when I brought them in. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and not only will I not sell to them again, but I will not visit the store again. read more

They're charging more for bags than I retailer is selling them new. They also store all of their bags on metal cables so that you can't walk off with them but they end up damaging all of the bags they're charging you $200 for. In fact, they have a Michael Kors here that you can buy brand new on the Michael Kors website for $127 but they're selling it for $200 used. read more

Would not recommend shopping or selling. Multiple associates had a very bad attitude and poor word choices. My buy took over an hour, I went to check out and it took over 15 minutes to check out and male associate mason slammed each of my items on the counter after scanning before mentioning anything about my offer then seemed to lose my bin of clothing and was searching around for it. After I paid I wasn't given a receipt or bag until I asked for it and when doing so I received a very rude response on how he was "gonna put it in a bag in a second" Overall would not recommend. read more

Hello, went to this store June 5/2024, entering the store someone run out screaming and apparently stole something alarms going on, etc. I was looking for some shoes very disorganized because sizes are everywhere gone to asked for assistance and the guy (mason) told me there's nothing here like for you; you are old this is a teenager's store??????? I wanted to leave at the moment. Found some shoes and looked everywhere in the store for some chairs, asked Sophia she went to an office to get a chair put it in there, try the shoes got 2 pairs. went to pay long line waited for like 5 or more minutes, Mason come to another register and said I will help the next person? first thing out of his mouth "I'm shocked you found something for your age" WTH... I pay he didn't take the sensors from anything, so have to come back and when he took the sensors out, he left the items out of the bag and said you are good to go, so I have to add my items to the bag by myself and left. what kind of society we live, I'm sure he has a mother, he is not customer friendly for this or any store, he needs some hygiene and to be groomed up to a basic standard, but at this point is questionable what are the standards anymore!! I had about 4 bags of clothes , all folded, most bought within the last 2-3 years, some never worn they only took two pack of socks. The clothes were all crammed back into the bags, not folded at all when I had worked for about 2 hours getting it all nice, ironed, and folded. When I complained to the manager, she just looked at me and smiled and said, "I'm sorry, have a nice night". Never going back. RUDE. read more

Process to sell was easy! I checked in at 2 and they reviewed three large trash bags of clothes and I got a decent amount back for them! Better than trying to sell it individually online or letting it sit in my closet collecting dust!! Will be back! Took about 30-40 minutes for them to review and send me a text back. read more

This place is ridiculous. Horrible customer service. I brought to sell 3 name brand pairs of shoes and an overflowing basket of clothes and all they wanted to keep were 1 pair of shoes for $5. I asked if I could donate the rest and the woman looked super annoyed that I asked. She handed me a trash bag and said to do it myself. No one said hi, bye, or thank you. They do not by from African American this is the 2nd time that my teen daughter has tried to sale to them at first I thought it was me but no they do not buy form people of colored. She tried to dale 7 barely worn polo shirts. Tommy Shirts and new jackets that I had purchased last year. I asked the manger what's was wrong with her items she said nothing. I mean it was several items that she had from PAC Sun they didn't buy those either. So basically we are good enough to buy form there but not sale . Worst staff ever! I'm getting to the point where I rather donate to goodwill then to deal with the staffs attitude. I've worked retail before your supposed to help customers be welcoming with a smile instead of receiving a dreadful "hey welcome to Platos closet (here's another customer that we don't want)" type of thing. Not to mention the wait is ridiculous. The girl with faded blue/green hair is very rude! The few times I've gone I usually see her laughing at what people donate and getting the other girls to come look. Not profesional at all. She Will not even look at your items and yelled at us they don't buy after 8pm , when it was only 7:30pm. She wouldn't give us her last name to report her to corporate either. I have been to several Plato's Closet and Uptown Cheapskate locations in DFW. I usually commit to driving several miles when I need to sell a closet clean out. I have to say that this is the cleanest, most organized, and most friendly location of them all. I drove 46 miles to sell my clothes here because it is that much more of a pleasant experience! read more

I honestly wish there was a way I could go back in time and erase the fact that I even stepped into this Platos Closet. The moment I stepped in, the associates were not welcoming at all and the staff was incompetent and rude. I wish I got the employees name because I was so unsatisfied when she checked me out. I didn't get to hear my reason because she spoke way too fast and she looked like she was so annoyed and unhappy. I witnessed an older lady asking for the restroom two to three times and none of the employees even acknowledged her or looked up from what they were doing. Talk about putting the customer first. As a fellow retail worker customer service is always a huge factor in a good shopping environment and I did not get this from the Arlington location. I wish I took the hour drive to drive up to the Mckiney location rather then waste my time at the Arlington location. read more

If I could do 0 stars I would. I came in yesterday to sell my clothes. They tell me they can only take 2 of my clothes and gave me $2.55 because the others were "torn" and "out of style". Whatever. I bought a pair of leggings and went to wash them today and I took the price tag off then noticed the security tag was still on. I tried to take it off myself but it ended up breaking and tearing the leggings. I go to return it and the lady tells me the price tag is supposed to be attached and I should've just came up there and they would've taken the tag off for me. I only went up there to get my money back otherwise I would not have gone. I shouldn't have had to go up there at all because they should've removed the tag in the first place. I do not recommend this place. Take your clothes to H&M. They give you coupons and they're prices are actually worth paying for what you will get. read more

Okay, so if you have a TV you have probably seen the ad for this place, they are everywhere all over the country. This particular place can get a little crowded very quickly. Honestly, the clothes they sale here aren't my style, they but/sell a lot of Hollister, Abercrombie, Old Navy, S.O., Express jeans, a few pair of Sevens jeans, a lot of pants from the Gap, Angels and Mudd. It's definitely catered to a younger crowd. You don't get a whole lot of money for selling your clothes, but that's pretty standard. They never tell you the proper amount of time it will take for an appraisal. Several times they have told me 20 minutes max and an hour later I find myself still waiting and then just leaving and coming back before they close. They workers can be very rude. There are seldom times I appreciate being talked down to (in fact I would say none). And at a place like Plato's Closet? This isn't some fancy, upturned nose kind of place. The good side is they only buy clothes that are in really good condition, so if you like those kind of brands it's worth checking out. But don't expect anything unique. read more

Yay! I'm a fan. Not because they bought all my clothes or that they offered me hundreds of dollars for my clothes. They didn't. Most of what I wear is mature clothes and not teenagers clothing. So I hadn't expected to sell much. Still I thought I'd give it a try. They greeted me with a cheerful tone of voice and a smile on their faces, gracefully took my clothes to give me estimates, and gave me my offer within 10 minutes. I was offered a mere $9.80 for 3 of my brand new items. I thought I'd give em away instead and declined. But I understood why. I had got a chance to look around the store while I waited for my quote. The store was very well organized and I could see tons of very cute clothes for TEENS for $10 or less (So they couldn't possibly pay me any more than $3-4 per item.) They had party dresses, casual dresses, jeans, pants, heels, sweatshirts and such that I could tell today's youngsters would wear. I found many brand new clothes with tags on as well as some not so new clothes. But they were all of similar designs. This store is targeted towards the youth(teens/tweens) most of whom rely on allowances or paycheck from part-time jobs. These kids like to own variety of different outfits to wear to school/college, and don't have a lot to spend so they have to keep the prices low. So please don't go in expecting to be paid a lot for the clothes, nor expect them to buy them all. At the end of the day, they have to be able to sell what they buy too. Will I go there again? Probably not. Definitely not for selling. But can I see a younger person having a great experience? absolutely! read more

This store is fantastic! I loved going to Ross because of the prices and good quality but then I heard of this store. Even better clothes and much cheaper prices! I went for my first time, I got 7 items for only $46!! How crazy is that?! I could've only got like 3-4 things at Ross for $46. I love this store! I come here more often. Not worth. The manager or the head woman there has an attitude, and it's even worse when its busy. I don't know how Plato's works on deciding which clothes to buy or sell but all the clothes I had were in top condition, worn once-twice the most. And they only accepted one of my tops, and sold it to me for $2. Definitely a waste of time and gas to go here. You wait an hour or more for nothing. You're better off selling on online platforms like Vinted or Mercari. However, if you're only going there to shop, thats when its worth. read more

Honestly one of the lower Plato's closets I've been to. All Plato's closets only by stuff that is last season, or this season or something. This one has jeans from like 2004. All pretty bad jeans. Shirts are dingy and worn out. I took clothes in that still had the tags, shirts I had worn probably 2 times, and nice jackets. All stuff I had recently bought and turned out to not like. The only thing they took was a pair of 3 year old garage jeans. So claiming that you only buy stuff that's in season or whatever is bulls***. read more

Staff was too lazy to even check clothes that ypu want to sell. Only 1 bag was open. Then other was still seal. If you don't want to work please inform before your customer leaving the store. Not after 30 mins and tell them to come and take it all back. What a waste of time. read more

2nd time visiting this place, and I hate it! Today I came in to sell my clothes and I had 3 bags full of clothes and they rejected EVERYTHING and while waiting I walked around and saw similar items being sold but my items were not "in style or in size" even though I had a bunch of new t shirts. The person ahead of me had women style shirts ( they don't accept those according to the buyer) but ALL HER ITEMS WERE CHOSEN. The hoodies I brought in were rejected as well.. Even though the women ahead had very worn out hoodies. This makes me wonder.. Their standards are based on personal view. I will NEVER be returning. :) read more

Will never buy or sell at this store ever again. A lot of the clothing is out of style, the shoes are very worn, a lot of the men's clothing is faded. We took a tub of stuff to sell and before even looking through the tub, they said we can't buy stuff from you because it is formal wear. I'm told them that yes there were a couple suits on top but everything underneath was jeans, sweaters and t shirts. So they stated it would be about 5-15 minutes, we waited about 45 minutes and were never informed when they were done so we went over to the desk and they didn't even remember us... they thought we were buying stuff. After waiting all of that time, they had picked 2 pieces and gave us $5. Needless to say, we won't be returning, it's a small cramped store and the service is terrible. read more

This one seems highly unorganized, and the staff isn't that friendly. The one in cedar hill is way better. They have a friendly staff and stuff in better condition. I've found quite a few Kate spade and michael kors bags brand new from following them on Instagram, they even allow you to Hold something if you see something you want on IG. read more

I have tried going to this particular location on a few different occasions and have left unsatisfied every single time. I tend to get bored with my clothes rather quickly, and like the idea of being able to sell barely used items in order to purchase something else. They hardly ever buy back any of my clothes (which are NOT out of date or damaged at all - and look much better than anything they have on the rack), and the staff is generally unfriendly, uninterested, and usually gossiping about fellow coworkers or customers behind the counter. After a few failed attempts, I won't be going back here. Waste of time. read more
