I wish there was a 0 star option! They are so unprofessional and abusive to the patrons! I was told it would b 30 min when I got there and that we aren't allowed to leave in order to get paid. I waited 2 hours! They wouldn't let me use the bathroom or leave the premises if I did they would kick me out of line after I waited an hour already. They have no where to sit while u are forced to wait also. I almost fainted because I was so thirsty and hungry as I got there at 11 and hadn't eaten lunch! While I watched every one go eat there's. It's the worst experience I ever had for 30 dollars made. I will never do that again! They shouldn't put customers through that as I am old! Total time was 2 hours! read more

On 5/22, they were only accepting men's things. No announcement on any website or platform. The signs they had were super small. And they didn't announce anything once we walked in so my sister put all of her stuff on the counter and the lady still didn't say anything. So I had to ask "hey are you only accepting men's items?" And she goes pretty much. And that was it. No sorry for the inconvenience or anything. Just really unfriendly. It would've been helpful if they put anything online stating this or printed this message on a bigger sheet of paper. read more

Drove all the way to Baybrook to hit up Plato's closet, and they ended up closing an hour and a half before the posted time.

The few times i've been there the people working seemed like they couldn't care less about people coming in. I came in to drop off a few items and everything was in a laundry basket, very visible to the workers, I had to sign in, and after that whole process they proceed to tell me they aren't taking anything but Mens clothing. I just feel as though as a girl walking in with a basket of clothes they would start with that. Each time i'm gone back something similar happens. Along with rude workers each time. read more

Hello! Two months ago I was here. I wanted to give this place one more shot. I should have just not come to begin with. If I could rate the customer service and value of this location, I would recommend you save your time, energy, and clothing by saving the trouble in taking it to goodwill! There at least your clothing will be put to good use. Today, May 17, 2024 is when I entered the stored after receiving a text message that my buy was completed. I walked in and provided my drivers license in request of the girl at the counter. She said they didn't have room for my clothing and I should come back in June or July. I asked if my belonging was not going to be looked at, why was it accepted from the get go where I had to wait for 3 hours???? Mind you, her associate step in and said they weren't even looked at because one girl claimed supposedly it needed to be washed? All of these clothes were washed and folded in one bag! Just one! So I said can I speak to the manager. Girl at the counter says she left for the day. This was around 3:10 PM. So, I said what's the managers name. She said, oh her nickname is Jules! I said no I want her name! She said well I gave you her name. I said no not her nickname, her real name. She said she didn't know! Can you believe that these girls behind the counter don't know the managers name? Manager is gone for the day in the middle of a busy day! So I said I am going to make a call. The girl says, I can give you the corporate number. I took pictures and everything! I am in the parking lot and I called corporate, no answer so I left a voicemail. I really do hope that this gets to corporate and that I receive a call back! I hope this review helps! Going forward, this location has horrible service and appreciating for customers like myself. Overtime, I have heard for this location to not be upscale. Well from my experience, many people were right on target with their experience. I came here 4/1/2024 to sell some clothes and shop around. The poor girl at the register was overwhelmed and undertrained when we started doing the "trade". I could tell she was trying her best. We completed the transaction and I walked to my car. I was reviewing my receipt when I realized I never got the credit for the clothing the store purchased from me. I went back in to get my cash. Overall the most disappointing part was the gaggle of girls behind the counter who didn't even offer to help the cashier when she was obviously getting flustered. I know not to have high expectations when shopping at any Plato's location but it was disappointing that the girls behind the counter were more interested in gossiping then helping out the cashier who had a long line and was having issues. read more

The vibes in here are RANCID. The employees all look like they hate their lives and are annoyed with anything that is a part of their job. I'm also convinced they either A) have too many clothes in the store to take anymore or B) don't even go through the bags you take to resell. When I was ready to try on my clothes I asked for a chair and I was told they were removed during Covid. I asked the lady if they had any way that I could sit since it is difficult to try on pants without a seat, and she said no. At the checkout, I told her that that Plato's Closet may be in noncompliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, or at the very least may be alienating older customers. She said that the last stall had a seat, but she had never offered it to me. And, as if to make me pay for my complaint, they did not fold my clothes nor did they put it in the bag I provided. read more

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with a staff member at Plato's Closet -Baybrook. (apparently they cannot provide their names to customers) My first interaction was Sunday when I went in to ask about selling clothes, this staff member provided the information I needed to know but in a frustrated tone. She did have a ton of clothes behind her and I said maybe she's overwhelmed, I decided to go during the week when its less hectic. Today 08/02, I took my clothes in, no issues. I returned about 7:20 to finish the transaction of selling my clothes. This staff member asked what I needed, she said someone would help me in one of the front counters. I did wait in the area where the front counters were located but not in front of a specific one since I didn't know where they would be helping me at. This staff member was talking to another staff member (not near a register) yet apparently she called me up. I wasn't sure if she was talking to me since she was not looking in my direction. " I can get you right here" is what she said to me in a disrespectful tone with a look of disgust. I then said back in the same tone she gave me, "I didn't know you were talking to me since you were not looking at me." Then she says, "oh it's ok." At this point I was done with this transaction and asked for my clothes back, I decided not to sell because of the way I was being treated. I don't know if she was having a bad week, if she was overworked, not getting paid enough ... I can only assume, or maybe it was the way I was dressed; she decided not to take me seriously.. and she sure enough didn't care how I felt. She still had the nerve to tell me have a great day. This staff member needs to self reflect how she comes across with customers and I hope her days get better. read more

If you know what you're doing when you get there, it is a perfect experience. I came in with just washed, folded name brand jeans, tops, and dresses, and walked out with a handful of cash. You can't expect $100 for the $125 pair of jeans you purchased, when they sell them for $25. Walk in with a neatly organized basket of things you no longer need or want, and walk out with cash. If you have something you feel is worth more and you'd rather keep, then keep it. I compare this to Spirit Airlines. As someone who travels frequently, if you read the fine print and know what you're getting into, you won't be disappointed. I walked in there today with clothes I haven't touched in months, washed them, folded them, sold them, and walked out. Happy camper. read more

I have never had a bad experience at any other Plato's besides this specific location. I waited two hours while they were "sorting through my clothes". I was told I would receive a text when my clothes were done being sorted/picked through. I was told the wait time was around 45-1 hour. After two hours of waiting, I finally asked what the deal was. My clothes had already been ready for 30 MINUTES. Apparently their text system "occasionally works" according to one of the workers. Would have been great to know. I took several boxes of clothing. They only chose the high end "J. Crew," "Banana Republic," & "Patagonia" brands, for which they offered $3 per item. They did not want the "Old Navy," nor the "Target" brands. Besides that, the place looked like a dump. read more

You just have to call and see what they are buying back if you are looking to sell. Don't haul your big bags of clothes over and think they will look through it all. And they buy things for just a few dollars so don't expect much! I'm just going to donate to good will from now on- it is way less of a hassle IMO. read more

I've been here many of times. Usually I prefer this location over others; however, I came here today and did not have my physical ID in hand but had a picture of it. The lady said we don't take that. I had literally just driven from Pearland Plato's Closet where they accepted it with no problem. I am a frequent seller and she had all of my information on hand already. When I told her that she said "we're not Pearland" with an attitude and quickly dismissed me and my huge bag of clothes. You would think the store needs to buy clothes to stay in business. This is not the Plato's Closet I grew up going to. Hadn't been since they moved locations and I was pretty excited to check out the bigger store, but was pretty disappointed. They were extremely picky about what they were "looking for". I had lots of brand new and used, name brand clothing, bags and jewelry of various styles and they surprisingly wanted none of it. But going through the items in the store, I noticed lots of very outdated, very worn clothing. A lot of sweaters and shirts with actual holes in them. Items that I wouldn't even consider donating, much less attempting to sell to someone else. Not to mention some of the pricing... A lot of similar items can be bought brand new at places like Marshall's, Ross, Burlington, Rue21 and even Forever 21. MIGHT give it one more chance, but I doubt it and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Try the places I listed above! read more

I went into the store with 3 large boxes of clothes. I had atleast 100 items. I wasn't expecting to walk away with tons of cash and no clothes left, but I was surprised that most of my name brand clothes were denied. When I got everything back in my car, I looked inside the boxes. They dumped everything in there instead of refolding the freshly washed clothes, and left me with a mess of wrinkles! read more

I've visited this location a handful of times. Even when the buyers don't find anything to keep from my bags, they've always been friendly in my experience. And honestly, I never go into it expecting anything. Seasons and trends change and each buyer has their own opinion on what could realistically sell. My best advice is to not take it personally if they don't take your entire closet lol. One might think "well they have xyz on the floor, why won't they buy my xyz?"- it might be because they still have xyz on the floor... and it's not selling. I will admit that I have not bought anything from any Plato's Closet location in years, but that's mostly because the styles they carry the most of (F21, Hollister, A&E, major mall brands, etc.) isn't something I'll gravitate towards. That being said, they seem to have quite a selection of jeans and I imagine if you have teens this is a great place to stock up on clothes. Or, if you're someone who loves to find a gem, there are plenty of racks of clothes to get your hunt on! I've definitely seen some major labels here and there. ***In case you've never sold here before, the process is super easy! Just need your ID, phone #, and the clothes you'd like to sell. There's a counter to drop your bags off at and the associate at the counter will take all your info and give you an estimate of how long it'll take for them to go through everything depends on how many customers' bags are ahead of you. Once they take your items, you can stick around and browse the store, or leave and come back when they text you that your buys are ready! I believe you just need to be back to pick up your stuff before closing the same day you go to sell. read more

Plato's is always a good store for great products. I have found so many gems that my closet is now filled with popular brand garments. My daughter loves policing the outfits selected. She has a great eye. The store is well organized and the material is sorted by classifying of styles.
