I have never left a bad review on any page, but I just had to write a review because I'm so frustrated and upset. This is literally the SECOND TIME this has happened to me do not buy gift cards from Plato's Closet. First, my sister bought a gift card for me for my birthday and when I went to use it, I had $100 on it when I went to use it they said oh the person who she bought the gift card from like the girl who worked there or guy took her money and never scanned the card so that I couldn't use it and this was after I had shopped the whole store and got all my items stood in the line and was completely embarrassed because they typed in my gift card and they said there's no money on this. It says it's never been activated. It sucks so bad worst birthday present ever then for Christmas my mom got me a Plato's gift card the year before last got me $100 gift card. I went to use it at the park location and my mom bought it at the Collierville, location though, but I should be able to use it at any location and shop the whole store and got all my items and they don't have bags so I'm like logging this stuff around getting the line in in front of a bunch of people and they say oh yeah it says it's not valid again and I called the number on the back of the thing and they said do you have the receipt or any banking information that can prove it was yours so now I have to go through the entire process of trying to find my mom's bank account information so that I can prove I had $100 on there so that's $200 down the drain don't ever ever ever buy a gift card from here. I'm so frustrated and upset. I literally cried my whole way home. I know that makes me sound like a baby, but it's frustrating especially when it's happened to you twice. Horrible birthday present not either of my sister or mom's fault. Call your real. Y'all need to teach your employees how to work a gift card or don't sell them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I have never felt so unappreciated and devalued as a customer until I came into this store. I brought some clothes and shoes that were in excellent condition to be sold. After waiting 45 min to be called back I noticed my bag to look pretty hefty, knowing I wouldn't have received the same brand name clothes back. Needless to say I went all the way home (30 min drive) just to have to turn right back and bring back the bag of clothes they gave me that belonged to someone else. Disappointed is an understatement, i was livid because not Only did I have to drive back, I was told that my bag was given to another customer who hasn't answered their call or brought the bag back.. well , after declining a $50 offer for clothes I know were worth more than $500 , I was told that management would contact the local authorities to retrieve the items.. this is going on a week now, no courtesy call or any hope of reclaiming my bag or at least being properly reimbursed .. instead I get the run a round, the items that they kept from another bag was instantly displayed and not even return to me after the fact of everything that happened.. Although the manager there Katie was exceptionally nice and understanding of my frustrations , she was limited to do only so much to help me anyway at the moment.. how Plato's dropped the ball I'm unsure of, but it's definitely not how I expected for them to respond to a situation like this the way they did.. very disappointed and in the process of filing a small claims court case because my counter offer to the $50 was $300 which was to steep for them apparently? read more

I was here a few days ago and I brought my belongings. One of my items was a $350 coach purse with the tags on it and brand new never used with the paper inside. They offered me $13 so I took it back but that was completely understandable. The way they priced things I went in there the next day Today is Friday and I went in there today to find a cute top and there are so many employees on top of you trying to put things in place which I get because it's their job but if you get in the way, they all roll their eyes at you especially this one bigger girl that was putting items away in the top section. I tried to move to get out of her way, but before I could move, even though I'm the customer and I'm looking, she said, can you like move and rolled her eyes and smirk at me. All of the employees are so rude and stuck up teenagers. And I myself am a 18 year old female. When I went to the store in Collierville on 7/26/24 at 12:30 pm, my experience was okay; however, the person at the front had an attitude and gave off a stuck- up vibe. I had a bag with clean, in good condition nursing scrubs. I tried to show her the scrubs, which were still in the bag, she did not bother to take look at them. When I told her that these are scrubs, she looked at me like she did not know what nursing scrubs are, and said, " we don't take anything like that." She did not say anything afterwards. The front person is rude and gives off a stuck-up vibe. My daughter also had a bag of clothes with tags still on them, and they did not want the clothes. When I looked through the store, I saw many run-down items for sell. I don't want to blame it on racism, since I am not sure; however, I heard situations where certain races get turned down unless they are bringing name brand clothing. read more

can i give less than one stars? easily the worst "thrifting" place around. run by incompetent teenagers. we dropped off 5 garbage bags full of FOLDED and CLEAN clothes. when we returned to pick up the clothes they didn't want and to approve of the clothes they wanted to buy, two of the five bags were "lost". the other three bags of clothes that they did have were wadded up and smelled dirty. they finally found the other bags but insisted that they already paid us for the items they did take and refused to let us see what was supposedly bought! these people are dishonest and WILL steal clothes from you so be sure to know what you have before you ever step foot into the building. another thing, their "manager" who couldn't be more than 17 years old, "katie" is easily the rudest person in customer service i've ever talked to. i was mocked, laughed at and completely disrespected by her when i told her i wasn't paid. lastly, their pricing/acceptance system is insanely inaccurate. fyi- not everyone wears crop tops and revealing clothing which is the majority of what this store sells. i was told my clothing (most with tags) was worn or "out of style"... may I note that i see the nastiest birkenstocks or shoes with disgusting black soles being advertised on their instagram page ALL THE TIME. they will buy 3-5 of your items and pay you just about a dollar per item. don't waste your time going to this trash hole of a facility. the only reason i'd ever buy from them again is if i wanted to dress up as an unbathed stripper one year for halloween. read more

I went there yesterday for the 2nd time and one of the workers came up to me and asked me what I was looking for and I told her I wanted some new slim jeans and she went to the back and got jeans that fit me like Cinderella's shoe and looked sharp, honestly, she probably picked them out better than I could. Horrible customer service at the collierville location most of their clothes are old and ragged boots have scratches and clothes are out of style. I will never go back. Also took clothes there one other time waited over 2 hours for them to tell me they didn't like anything. The cute clothes I brought were way better than what they had in the store. Young kids work there and know nothing!!!! Actually deserve no stars read more

Rudest employees ever. Tiny selection. Odd parking lot. I love the idea behind Plato's Closet, and the one on Germantown Parkway is really nice. But the people at this one are rude and unhelpful, and the selection is too small to make a trip worth it. Make the trek north to the one in Cordova and save yourself the trouble. read more

The clothes are outdated and most are bad quality (holes, ripped, dirty or smelly). They hardly ever buy clothes that other people bring in saying they're older than 18 months or some sort of excuse. Seems like they don't update their merchandise. read more

Found some gently used coach purses n tops. Good place to shop if u need to fill up a box to donate to the underprivileged in Phillipines as I m doing. They have brand new shoes that a guy brought in to sell while we were there but it was all size 14 unfortunately as we r only looking for size 11. The staff was very helpful when I asked for direction in my size and what I was looking for. I found some really good pieces at great prices. The store was very well organized and clean as well. I would definitely recommend this store/location to anyone looking for fun new pieces to add to their wardrobe at a great price. I haven't sold anything there yet but they told me they pay cash for your in season clothes, that's awesome! I will be cleaning out my closet and going back soon! Great location too, with Once Upon a Child being right next door it was like a one stop shop for me! :) All around, great place to shop with great prices. Thumbs up. read more

Meh. It smells dusty and much like a second-hand store usually does - like someone's attic. The clothing is overpriced. I shouldn't be able to buy brand-new good-label clothing on clearance for less than I would pay for USED clothing. And I can. And I do. I've gone into Plato's Closet 3 times now, and the last 2 times it was just to look for accessories for costumes, because I know better than to look for great deals on clothing now. It's easier just to scout the clearance racks. read more

I'm very disappointed that I have to leave at least one star. This business has dishonest practices. I've had three incidents with this location as they'll post something for sell on instagram and will be the first to respond hold. And when it's time to pickup it's been sold or they can't find the item. I really fell that this company is prejudice. I asked that they have the store owner to contact me and was told that she could not call me because she's on maternity leave. I've always sold quality clothing to various locations of Plato's closet. So I was quite surprised when this particular location tells me that my clothing wouldn't SELL well in their store & that some of my items were order than 18 months. Hmmm, well isn't that the purpose of hand me downs!? Why does it have to a certain expiration date if it's outside of 18 months.I can understand if my clothes were from the 1900's, but the items I presented were only a couple of yrs old, it that. Unorganized and employees didn't even look at me. When I went to check out I had to get their attention to check me out. Almost as if they had no training. One even walked right in front of me, while I was looking at clothes, and didn't say excuse me or ask if I needed help. Just rude. read more

Went to this store today and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and helped me pick out an outfit for this weekend. I didn't even have to look through all the racks. I went to the counter and told them what I needed and they started bringing items to the fitting room so that I could try them on. I was also told they buy in clothing too. I'm going to have to give that a try...hopefully that will be a positive experience as well. read more

I came in with a box of clothes and came back an hour later as I was told to. The guy I dropped the box off to was still not done. I was fine with waiting a little longer so I did but he gave me back all the dresses I brought saying the store doesn't accept dresses with the fitted band around the waist. I was surprised but went with it, but I looked around the store and saw dresses like those with the fitted band all over the store for sale. As he was folding my dresses and putting them back in my box he folded two of my dresses together. The orange dress under the one folded with it wasn't a fitted dress. It looked like he was trying to hide it but I wasn't sure. So, I said "what about the orange dress?" and I got it back out of the box and showed him it wasn't fitted thinking maybe he'd take it. But he said he wouldn't take it but didn't tell me why. I was kinda bummed because that was a majority of the clothes I brought in not being taken. I thought it was kind of a weird reason. I thought maybe the guy was running behind and didn't want to look at the dresses since I was already there, because after I got there he just started to look at the shirts I brought. I only brought 11 things. Maybe he didn't want to buy them off of me, but I don't know. Maybe he was just doing his job, but I thought it was kinda weird that the same kind of dresses were all over the store and he couldn't tell me why they didn't want the orange dress. However, I still got a little bit of money from the shirts. I don't think I'll come back to this Plato's Closet though. Another one might take more clothes. read more
