I took 2 bags of nice items in good condition and they only offered $11 for 3 items and they also stole a bag of my stuff. I had a small bag of items that had 2 crossbody bags and jewelry and I did not get it back and didn't notice it was gone until I got home. I will be contacting the store about this. Went up there last night while me and my husband went to sell they told us to stay in store while we waited since it was 30 mins from closing. We did while we were waiting me and him were talking amongst ourselves one of the ladies butted in 3 times! First while my husband and another guy seller was talking about shoes. And the last times she was very rude causing and out burst. She was listening way too hard and something that had nothing to do with her. Rolling her eyes telling us if we didn't like her butting in we could leave the store! I have never in my life seen such bad customer service. But I guess that's what happens when you hire all teens! My biggest complaint is when you go to sell your clothes and they tell you a 45 minute wait . Meanwhile everyone is on their phones and goofing around . I bought clothes up there once I left and got back home which was a 30 minute drive they called to tell me they miss something and owe me more money . Simply if they weren't on their phones and gooding around that mistake wouldn't had been made . I was very upset having to drive back up there for their mistake . They need to do better and stop hiring childish people . read more

I came in simply to sell TWO pair of shoes. The lady at the front counter in a green crop top told me 20-25 mins. I left to go get lunch and came back and she still had no even reviewed my items. She was clearly not interested in her job and I ended up waiting 45 mins. Even other customers in front of me came back in for their pickup and had to ask for a new time because the times given were totally not acknowledged. read more

Took 3 brand new pairs of leggings here (with tags still on them) and they passed on them. This made absolutely no sense based on some of the items i saw in there. Scuffed shoes at the toe area, dirty shoes, cotton balls on some clothing which is a clear indication someone sweated in it, faded clothing, and they won't take a brand new item??? They often FRESHEN, the Store, & have items out at a further discounts as well.) Rules to consider when taking items to sale. Must be CLEAN, resalable, Current Fashion, meet that stores CUSTOMERs, (the teen to early Twenty range.) Actually this store does have some more authentic items and even more club like or costume attire, somewhat more like the Resale Clothes store in Five Points did, years ago. I have purchased a few items with really cool tears. That are new and used and somewhat CUSTOMIZED. The Plato's Closet in the Harbison area, has a completely different selection. I shop both. My assistant took saks 5th and Louis Vuitton and other items to this store that we're verified even had the receipts but yet moving and wanted to off some stuff and they rejected my items. Someone should open a real consignment store and not this joke of a place that sells used dirty clothes and some even show dog hair and further more dust mites. Just sold 5 pieces for $16! I'm a happy seller. They took my clothes quickly, gave me an offer and made it clear what the issues were with my other items. If I could give negative stars I would !! So unbelievably unprofessional. There were 2 people working, both complaining the entire time about doing their job. Then they were cussing and gossiping about everyone and everything. I drove 25 minutes to drop of clothes, they told me 45 mins so I went to the Kroger and grocery shopped. I came back 50 mins later and the girl was doing absolutely nothing behind the register and when I asked how long they told me hat they had me a shorter time and I still had 40 mins. Anyways. I drove over an hour to get to this store and waited thirty minutes just to come back to be told that they saw a pet hair on on shirt on the top of the bag so they couldn't go through any of it. I was told to wash (my already clean clothes) and come back. I had about 8 pairs of Buckle Miss me jeans that they would have liked to have had they not been lazy and looked in my bag. Nothing but children "running" the store, the music was so loud you couldn't hear each other and they acted like they didn't care. NEVER going back again. read more

Very rude and unprofessional! The clothes in the store had a lot of wear and some had stains. I don't know what their system is on how they pick and choose what they take but it's not working. Went to this location today. I was there for the first time bringing some things into sell. So the sales girl had me fill out the form and then walked away . She didn't tell me there was a 30/45 min wait. So when the other salesperson saw me standing there she said not tactfully that it works be a wait. Overall the customer service was not inviting where you would want to come back again ( I won't be) and everyone except Josh was not helpful. He should be working in a customer friendly environment like chick fil-a or something. Lastly if your style is Rue 21, wet seal or delias this would be the store for you. TERRIBLE. Terrible service, terrible quality of clothes. I went in there yesterday right before they closed to try and find a cheap pair of rain boots I could wear for a biology field trip to a muddy national park the following day since it has been raining for 2 consecutive days. I just didn't want to get my new hunter rain boots dirty! I went in there and looked around at their shoes and found 3 pairs of rain boots all cheetah print, which isn't exactly my style but beggars cannot be choosers right? I saw that one of them were a size 8 so I grabbed them without thinking or trying them on because I've never had an issue with a size 8 not fitting me plus I only really needed them for one day plus whenever I walked the dogs outside and it was muddy or whatever. Anyway, I brought them home and in the morning before class I tried them on only to discover that there was a huge crack (about 1-1.5 inches) in one of the boots that was only visible when the rubber was moved. I didn't have time to deal with it so I threw on my hunter rain boots and I went to class. After class (maybe 15 hours after I bought them) I called the Platos store and told them my situation and they said that they were sorry but it was final sale. I said I agreed but I said I didn't think it was fair that the shoes were not properly checked before being put on the shelf. Finally they told me to come in to the store with the shoes and my receipt. I went home and picked up the boots, as well as, the receipt and drove 25 minutes out of my way to the Platos store. When I got there I walked in and introduced myself and started talking to the same manager (who I'm pretty sure is the owners too) I talked to on the phone early who had told me to come in. I showed her the boots and she proceeded to say that again she is sorry but there is nothing she can do because they are "used shoes and final sale". I agreed with that but argued that there was a big difference between a shoe which is missing a button due to being used and a rain boot having a huge crack in it which would prohibit it from ever being used again. She looked at me and said "like I said I can't do anything about it but you know... They were only $15" (yes that is not a lot I know...but I still wouldn't just throw $15 dollars away) and I replied by saying "yes but the shoe is broken, it is not functional, I cannot ever wear it. What am I supposed to do with a broken shoe?" She then proceeded to just stare at me and smile and once again repeat "like I said, I don't know its final sale". I then proceeded to toss the boots on the counter and said "keep them" and walked out. I feel tricked and appalled that they would be that shady towards their customers. I have already told my roommates about it, who are also very horrified that they would do such a thing, and have agreed to not give that location any business anymore. I will continue to warn people about this locations attitude and the way they treat their customers. I will only be going to the Harbison location from now on (who I believe have a better quality selection anyway) if I ever need something from Platos and I encourage you to do the same in order to avoid shady business tactics. read more

After reading other reviews on here I am glad I am not the only one! Every time I have brought perfectly good clothes in to sell they accept almost nothing and when I ask why they say it is because of wear (even though they did not accept a brand new pair of heels). I've gotten one or two good items from here but selling is a hassle and the staff is generally rude about it. read more

Just like everyone else here horrible customer service. Employees are not at all attentive take their time picking through your close then shove it all back into whatever you give it to them in. Last time I was here they told me they didn't accept some of the items I had even though they had the exact same item for sale. Some of the clothes they sell have stains and large tears. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had!! Treated rudely and the salespeople actually laughed at me and made fun of me being an older person. I was there to sell my daughters things for her and was treated extremely disrespectfully by the young black sales girl with the bob hairstyle. Also, she simply took 3 things from top and said she would give me $6.20 for them.. :( UNREAL!!! I shop and sell at the other Plato"s on Bower Parkway for my daughter and have never been treated unkindly or spoken to as I was today!! Always treated kind there! I will NEVER return to this store again, and will assuredly tell ALL of my friends not to shop or take their clothing there! Worst customer service EVER and from now on I would rather give my daughters clothes away than to return to this horrible place of business. I pray the owner will teach better customer service and hire mature adult acting employees instead of immature and grossly rude persons with absolutely no manners!!
